Hello world and all who inhabit it! (⁠ ⁠╹⁠▽⁠╹⁠ ⁠). How are you all? I hope you're doing well. I know I brought you a post on Wednesday and all, but I still have more art to post that I made a LONG time ago before making this Tumblr account, so can you blame me for wanting to share it? After all, I've never really been able to show it to anyone. Only a select few friends, of which there are 3.

But anyway, today I decided to share another Trolls drawing, which is, you guessed it!, my very own Trollsona. (⁠≧⁠▽⁠≦⁠).

Her name is Moon Spectrum (same as my Wattpad profile, by the way), but you can call her Moon. She's a Rock Troll, although I couldn't tell you what kind of Rock she leans toward because I don't know much about the different subgenres of Rock, so. ╮⁠(⁠＾⁠▽⁠＾⁠)⁠╭. But hey, I don't think it matters much. As you could read in her fun facts, she's a radio host in Volcano Rock City with her own station, which she wants to expand to the other Troll tribes since the Rockapocalypse... which will be quite difficult, considering a good portion of the tribes don't have anything similar to Radio. Maybe the Funk Trolls, but there would still be trouble reaching the other tribes.

Anyway, she broadcasts her show late at night. Mainly because even before the tribes joined, she liked to share other types of music from time to time, which is why she could only do so at night, when almost all the Rock Trolls were asleep. The downside to this was that her station wasn't very popular, and only a very select audience of Trolls listened to it, who either stayed up late for various reasons or specifically wanted to listen to music of other genres. However, after the tribes merged, that select audience began to openly share the existence of her radio station, and little by little, it has gained recognition. So much so that she's been looking to expand to other places so she can share more music with other Trolls.

For Moon's design, I wanted to implement those concept art of Barb with bat wings, which I thought were really cool. The problem is that drawing wings is a bit of a chore, so yes, they came out awkward. (⁠^⁠～⁠^⁠;⁠)⁠ゞMainly because I made them big, but it turns out I like to follow a certain logic, and smaller wings didn't quite convince me that my girl could fly comfortably (although you would have also had to consider her hair, which seems like a bit of a hindrance when you think about it), so I ended up making them bigger. I also didn't like her clothes very much here, as I was looking for something that would fit a winged creature. I also had some trouble choosing her color palette, as I didn't know how to color her skin in general and her wings, but I think it turned out pretty well for her first design. (⁠；⁠^⁠ω⁠^).

Although I did take the liberty of changing some things about her when I made a collab with a friend, which would be this drawing:

Here I changed the design of the wings, clothes, and bangs in some parts. I also added details like hands and feet with claws. The wings didn't quite work out in the end, and the bangs didn't turn out as great as the first version, but I really liked the outfit. And yes, the logo on her shirt is the name of her radio station: "Rockstar Radio" (nothing to do with Rockstar Games, XD. I just thought it would be a cool name).

The pose also has flaws, especially where Moon is holding Lyxn. And by the way, yes, that little Troll is Lyxn, my friend's Trollsona. ಡ⁠ ͜⁠ ⁠ʖ⁠ ⁠ಡ. She made her own design and sent it to me so I could do this drawing, although I didn't end up shading it. But it still turned out cute, according to us.

The story of how Moon and Lyxn met is this: it was at the first annual gift exchange organized by Queen Poppy. Lyxn was a Pop Troll dabbling in Hip Hop who'd been told about Rockstar Radio, so she started listening. She liked the content Moon had to offer, and when Poppy gave everyone an invitation to the gift exchange, Lyxn got Moon's name. So she drew a picture for her to give her!

However, she couldn't wait until the night of the exchange, so she traveled to Volcano Rock City on her own to deliver the picture right away. How did such a young Troll get there? No one is really sure. The only thing Moon knew when she found Lyxn hanging around her broadcast booth was that she spawned in a box (according to the interns) and escaped before they could catch her. More than just annoyed, Moon was worried about an underage girl being so far from home so late at night, so she decided to take her home herself. But not before receiving the gift of Lyxn.

Moon really liked it, and they've become good friends ever since.

And well, that's all for now. I hope you like it! (⁠ﾉ��◕⁠ヮ⁠◕⁠)⁠ﾉ⁠*⁠.⁠✧. I know Moon doesn't have the best designs, but I'll try to make improvements if I draw her again next time. Especially on the wings. I want her to keep them, but I'm still not entirely sure how to get to a design I like.

Queen Mae is the one in the cool dresses and also the gorgeous lady in the top left, Empress Nadia is the one becoming a skeleton, and Orchid is the one begging for help in the comic panel.

I'm trying to come up with a concept for Mae's dress since I've been dissatisfied with it since I've first designed her two years ago. here's some other dresses she's worn ↓

Oh GLADLY!

★ They're five years younger than Arven (which means they're 10 in my universe but that can differ in other people's universes. Yes I know they don't look like a ten year old I've gotten that so many times already)

★ They were practically raised by Arven. Since Sada and Turo were busy with work and later moved to Area Zero, Arven had to look after both himself and his little sibling at a young age. Even after Arven enrolled himself in Manzana (I assume Arven enrolled himself into the Academy because the Profs were clearly too busy for that) he continued to live at the lighthouse to look after Audrey until he was confident they'd be fine at the academy.

★ In fact, Audrey has only been enrolled in the academy for about 8 or so months

★ Arven helped Audrey catch their first Pokémon - a Fidough - a couple of years before they were enrolled into Manzana. However, they were given a Quaxly when they joined the academy (based on a headcanon I saw from someone where even if someone has a Pokémon when they enroll into the academy, they're offered a starter and can choose to turn them down, idk where I saw that tho :c)

★ Acts a bit like Arven, just in a more childish way.

★ Very brash, very reckless, usually has no care for others' feelings (or just doesn't really realise when they upset someone), Arven constantly has to apologise for their behaviour

★ They do have a nicer side, they're just not exactly good at showing it

★ Constantly boasts about being the profs' child, they think it makes other students respect them, but it usually makes people avoid them because of how pushy they are about it. They don't really have friends outside of their Pokémon

★ Knows some basic cooking from Arven, but mostly just orders takeout or instant noodles

★ They love steak tho, they just don't know how to cook it

★ Extremely attached to Arven. He's trying to help them get used to not having him around.

★ This leads to Audrey believing the player is "Keeping Arven from them" when they find out the two are looking for Herba Mystica (I don't think they understand the concept of having a friend- 😭)

★ Arven lies to Audrey about Mabosstiff being injured and doesn't tell Audrey the truth about Turo and Sada after The Way Home. He doesn't want to see his sibling upset.

★ Audrey found the pendant around their neck in the Lighthouse lab a little while ago and wears it because "It's pretty freaking cool", has no idea about Terapagos

★ They're still trying to figure out what they want to do when they leave Manzana

I knew you were planning something, I was right_ I was right I was (—‹ —) /ref + /q !!

..I need to draw that space/cosmic themed cat that can change sizes and liquify it self. A void black cat who is a sizeshifter and can made it self a liquid would be a pretty good escape artist by the way. It could shimmy it's way into a ventilation system in the form of puddle, camouflage it self in dark/night and out—maneuver threats and predators by shrinking. And overpowering said threat by erhhh, growing. And batting it's enemy with its galactic little.. big— paws

I can also picture a kitty with a starry and/or cosmic fur. It would be an even greater concept if the stars were slowly moving.. almost like a lave lamp. Imagine seeing the glowy little stars poking out of the darkness. Kinda like a night light. A potentially deadly nightly. Imagine trying to pet this intergalactic — space like tiny kitten only to end up with burn marks on your hand and fingers. ..(unlocking an idea for my sona)

..anywho, holycow and oh my planet venus your persona is raaaggh /pos !!

That hat reminds me of hello kitty. I need their hat. I need their hat, and I despise wearing hats because of sensory issues but I need it. /j + /silly

Their skirt also reminds me of flower petals, but if they were used as attire.. (unlocking a new headcanon for borrowers)

They are sitting there all clueless and innocent, with big doe eyes that are seemingly filled with wonder— while astro/steren (my sona) is like going all out. and instead of mewing aggressively they are chirping and zirp- zorping /silly.

They might use their body heat or they supernova at the spot to break the glass so that your sona gets out of something.. Though they may be a bit too cowardly to do so. Blowing up would be painful— to cut It short. It would be cool if they regenerated their body with the scattered stardust though. Kind of like Sunita's power from 'Rise Of The TMNT' where she can explode into puddles of slime and then resurrect her body. .. can a star resurrection'm not sure. Wait no— hold on, let me—

..huh... Well, at least other stars would form from their remains I guess ??

also urh, if you were a cat— I'd feel like you'd be a mischievous little orange kitten who is also a little magician and casts silly spells on others. You'd vibrate off positive energy as well, I think.. oh wait— you already do that.

m'kay urh, this made me rather happy and such, I was actually waiting to see what you were cooking for a while.. also whatintheworld you do animatics ?? or you were going to do animatics ?? and you were going to draw as cats ?? that's so erh, .. what's the word— cute ?? /gen

.. though it would have taken a lot of time I suppose, and understanding and drawing the anatomy of a cat, or any other animal for that matter issss.. complicated, to say the least. Unless they are ninja turtles or mutants or something.

i know the entire ask was about if we were turned into kittens,, but i drew us as our sonas instead 'cause i'm thumbs down at drawing kitties... ☆⌒(>。<) let it be known,,, if you were a cat you'd be either a full black void cat with abilities to turn into a liquid and shift sizes at will,, or a itty bitty kitty with a space/galaxy colored coat ((glittery stars an' EVERYTHINF!!!)) with the ability to spawn tiny glowing stars that may or may not burn your house down (*´▽`*) (≧▽≦) !!!!

sorry it took me an entire WEEK;; this whole project was a rollercoaster LMAO /lh — my original idea was to do the silly little animatic thingies,, but then i realized how much time and effort that took and i didn't know how to do it right;; tried to make a few pngs of a bow and a star to edit and keyframe onto the kitties in the video and lost motivation for that after a day or two,, so i just decided to draw over my favorite pics from it ☆⌒(>。<)

Saga (volumes 6-7) ★★★★☆ - What can I say, it's Saga! I mourn those weird fundie meerkats but maybe it's for the best if we were gonna be kissing them. I can excuse Winged Lady x Horn Man but I draw the line at Winged And Horned Girl x Just A Really Big Meerkat

Safer Places ★★★★☆ - A real trip! I loved the art and the vignette vibes. Very peaceful.

A Desolation Called Peace ★★★★★ - Slapped tbh. I love a first contact story, I loved getting to check in with the characters from book 1, I was rapt the whole time, and I wanted to cunt punt Sixteen Moonrise.

Bingsu for Two ★★★1/2☆ - One of my last ARCs from ALA Annual, where @uncancellable and I had a lovely chat with the author. Not my usual genre at all, but I still had fun and it was serendipitous to read this ideal beach read on an actual beach

Water Moon ★★1/2☆☆ - Another ARC. One of those books where it's like oh, cool concept... if only the story was good. It's not, though—I compared this reading experience to "eating a cake that is all icing." Would have DNFed if I'd had other options around!

Anne of Green Gables ★★★★★ - She was the moment, she is the moment, she will be the moment. I loved revisiting this as an adult who has now read many more of L.M. Montgomery's works. Call me a Maudball the way I'm reading these Texts

The Scourge Between Stars ★★★1/2☆ - Exactly as promised, a quick and clammy-palm-inducing space thriller novella you can read in one sitting. Not the most original work ever (it's basically just Alien) but that's ok, I love Alien!

Witchcraft for Wayward Girls ★★★★☆ - Grady Hendrix is pretty much an autobuy, I appreciated what he was trying to do here, and I inhaled this in like 2.5 sittings, but that said as a person looowkey squicked by pregnancy I could probably have skipped this one. Should be mandatory reading for cis men though

Practice to Deceive ★★★☆☆ - I read that one tumblr post raving about Patricia Veryan's historical romance and was intrigued enough to pick this one up! Not a bad little book. Will it stick in my memory? Probably not, but for the first time in the romance genre I can see myself picking up more of this author's work when I'm in the mood for an easy read.

Driftwood ★★★☆☆ - An intriguing concept, and I liked the execution much better than Water Moon's, but ultimately I was a little bored and not all that invested.

The Tyrant ★★★☆☆ - And, snowed in by the fire again, I did indeed end up reaching for another Patricia Veryan! I liked the characters better in this one, but the ending dragged a bit.

Anne of Avonlea ★★★★☆ - She was back at it again at Krispy Kreme and was likewise once again eating it up. I am READY for AotI book club!

Witchcraft: A History in Thirteen Trials ★★★1/2☆ - Finally fulfilling last year's goal of "reading nonfiction ever." This was an interesting and informative supplement to my Malleus Maleficarum research, but felt like it couldn't decide whether to be dry/academic/facts-only or go on long flights of dramatization... and so kinda landed on "confused." Nice message though!

A Company of Swans ★★★★☆ - A book I read to see if it'll work for book club... and it just might! So I don't wanna say too much about it. Eva Ibbotson was one of my favorite writers growing up and it was a delight to find that her writing is still Comfort Writing even in her adult books. I was quite literally laughing out loud. Perhaps even, occasionally, guffawing

DNFs: None, though I probably would have DNFed Water Moon if it hadn't been the only unread book I had with me on a plane. I've also stalled out on reading The Lies of Locke Lamora. Debating whether to return it to the library and try again some other time when I'm in the right mood!

I'm once again in one of those "fuck ME all my library holds are ready at once" situations. This time around we've got Paladin's Grace, Four Ruined Realms, and a nonfiction book on perfume. Plus I'll be participating in February's Anne of the Island book club and the third Emily Wilde comes out on the 11th! Busy month ahead during which IT DOESN'T HAVE TO SNOW, @ APOLLO

Send ★ for a talent headcanon for Crypto. 

Crypto being a pretty decent computer hacker is probably one of his more defining character traits, but I do think he has an unspoken talent which lies tangent to his obvious engineering ability, and this hits close to home!

Has anyone actually seen Hack, like, up close? The drone Crypto single-handedly designed himself prior to the events of the game? I’d like to think programming the drone with code and all that 1s and 0s is one thing, but to come up with the form (aka the housing for the tech inside), how it looks like appearance-wise… is something else entirely. It actually takes some serious product design knowledge and ability and... I’m saying this as a recent industrial design graduate, a course which took me four painful years to graduate from— Crypto’s design work is. Pretty fucking insane. 

So I’d hazard a guess that drawing/sketching is his secret talent, or hell, maybe even product design is. It’s also possible I’m purely projecting, too. Being a product designer isn’t as kickass a title as being a hacker who ‘breaks the game’, so. It’s probably why Crypto is the surveillance expert, and I HC him being a talented inventor. 

I know these things are obviously done by the wonderful Danny Gardner, lead concept artist at Respawn — but can you imagine. At one point Crypto’s sat at his desk, doing these kickass elaborate sketches and concepts while running on caffeine fumes?

And if you think Hack looks complex enough… holy fucking shit, you probably haven’t seen Hack’s controller, which is ingeniously based off the complexity of a rubrik’s cube.

Design isn’t just about making things look cool, it’s also about optimising space and ensuring that the tech parts slot together well and work efficiently enough nine times out of ten. The fact that Crypto pulls this off so well and even uses his invention competitively shows that he’s. I don’t know. Either a genius or extremely committed to what he does.

Also this sorta ties into my interpretation of his age. I know Crypto lied on his ‘resume’ and said he’s (thirty-one) a lot older than he is currently (early to mid 20s) to cover up his identity. While it’s possible Crypto’s upbringing and  presumed homeschooling gives him a shitload amount of time to pursue his own hobbies and hone his craft by his 20s, I do think it takes a lot of maturity and experience to be able to get to where he is — and thirty-one is a reasonable age to achieve all that. I’m supposedly as old as Crypto’s canonical age, but I don’t think I’d be able to reach his level, and I don’t even know jack about engineering! 

So I’m okay with him not being a young, prodigious inventor; which seems like a recurring trope amongst Asian characters in video games. But I don’t know. I wanna be true to his character, but I also want to be realistic. I’m torn between the two.
