I'm trying to figure out if Mattel could make something like this work again--color variations on the same clothes on dolls with different hair and skin tones, which now could easily be different head sculpts. I just feel like, if the budget went into basically the same dress and accessories but in different colors, then maybe--just maybe--the individual clothing quality could be a little better than the infinite parade of one-off Fashionistas outfits

(once upon a time it would have been an extra expense to create different die cutters to cut the clothing pieces for different body sizes, but I believe most mass-produced clothes are laser cut these days, and that probably includes doll clothes, so I think there could be body size variations for the same basic clothes without increasing production costs much. like I said, though, I'm just not sure if it would work, from a market appeal angle)
