Day 4: Reasons why you like OFMD

I'm a simple person, I have simple satisfaction requirements. The bottomline of why I like OFMD is because it's a genuinely funny and witty television show about pirates. (PIRATES) But I can go further. Of course, the representation is insane; the fact that it actually had non-traditional relationships and both realistic character presentations and depictions of a wide range of people (with some creative liberty of course) is so incredibly gratifying.

OFMD is filled with funny, memorable and emotional moments; it has loveable characters and likeable tropes actually executed well— it's a big mix of the best parts of any romcom, and actually prioritises content and quality of scenes instead of expensive visual effects (even though I can argue that OFMD is visually stunning) and easy mass consumerism. (Perks of being written by PEOPLE. PAY YOUR WRITERS).

It fits the demands of the current audience: not only are the moments within the show carefully planned out to connect, but tie in with actual history and documented events all while adding a creative spin to the story, for what I think is the better. The acting is incredible, and it looks like every cast member has genuinly connected with their own character, and that has allowed them to represent them more fully and truthfully, adding a whole new depth to each character.

OFMD is a romcom which has managed to make people giggle and kick their feet, many of who have never done so before watching other television shows.

That's why I like Our Flag Means Death.

not to get sentimental over an anime i just got into but its genuinely so refreshing watching dunmesh. there's no incest, the underage characters aren't sexualized, and most if not all the fan service is of senshi and laios or even chilchuck. this is the bare minimum of making a good anime but it's got me really happy

stranger things season one 2016 was so fucking incredible. it exists as an entirely different entity to me than the rest of the show. you literally just had to be there. to this day nothing has ever come close to the amount of universal love for a fictional story that stranger things first received. ive been chasing this high for eight years.

its an episode about the many ways morty fears rick.

its about being afraid of rick and being afraid of his sadness and his callousness and his power. its about morty knowing the power rick has over him and being afraid of that. and knowing that ricks decisions are fickle and often Bad and that morty is going to be beholden to them. when rick jumps morty is forced to follow after and pay the same price for no crime. and the fear that for his loyalty and obedience there is no reward . if rick is in a simulation where hes given everything he wants and hes too selfish and cowardly to leave when it threatens his life, morty will have to die with him.

the differing auras

In the wake of the cancellation of Warrior Nun, I am imploring anyone who has Disney+ to watch Willow (2022).

It features a woman loving woman romantic subplot at the forefront, meaning it’s not in the subtext. Episode 1 has them kiss and afterward the lines of romance exist so throughout the narrative for these two characters that it is current and seen to the point that it cannot be argued away.

But there’s next to no buzz for it, only the Disney+ app really promotes it as something to watch with the odd ad showing up on Instagram of the cast playing mini games.

On top of that, it is a well written show that holds all of the love of the original film from the 80s.

I know that it would appear that numbers don’t seem to matter, but I am begging people to watch this show because it is a fantastic piece of media that delights in paying homage to the source material it comes from.

My mind be like

Imagine if evil sun and new moon remakes bloodmoon sentient and then puts painful mind control in his body to go torture sun's family and bloodmoon go's over half sentient and bagging sun to kill him so the pain can stop sun decided to get jack-o-moon to rip the wires from the back of bloodmoon's head (they are blue and yellow) jack-o-moon ripping off the wires making bloodmoon fant luckily not killing him bloodmoon now lives with sun and apologies for everything sun forgiving him and evil sun and new moon will follow the tracker from bloodmoon

You absolute Angst Lord, I’m in

This is— wow. I love it.

The two current villains bringing back the most recent casualty only to basically torture them into obeying. Sending them over to further traumatize Sun and his family, only for them to beg the person they’re supposed to be attacking to kill them. And he agrees, getting Jack to do it. And they survive. And they join the family. And they inadvertently put their new family at risk?

This is absolutely amazing

Please keep developing this idea, but no pressure, I understand if you don’t wanna. This is just the good kind of angst, it plays into the character’s fears and lets them have a reprieve from the hurt, only for a looming danger to draw near
