today is a sad day. i’ve been listening to aerith’s theme piano version for the past 6 hours and i think it’s very fitting of the mood. anyways i stayed up until now, 2:20am, to finish this off because i really wanted to get it out today.
i was going to do all the way up to his death but jesus christ i am sick of blender now. i think this is cute though 😭 i might do something else with the grandkids in it as well.
anyways i worked for ages on this today so i hope all you gael lovers like it!! zoom in, there are a few little details in some of them that i think are fun 😭 it’s so lovely to read all the comments and messages on his final post, i appreciate all of you who read the legacy and interact with it 🥺
goodnight i am exhausted

we're all aware that the religion practiced in rain world by the ancients (iterators, and some of the slugcats by extension) is heavily inspired by buddism-- karma, reincarnation, ascension that leads to enlightenment where the need for the life/death cycle is past you now because you no longer feel suffering
five pebbles tells survivor and monk to go west.
west.
like in journey to the west? the great classical chinese novel, an allegorical journey about human perseverance?
in a game that is so incredibly difficult that beating it would require persistence?

i love luke's solitary vader funeral not only for luke but also because it's like, luke can forgive him - has forgiven him to an extent and let him go - but he won't make anyone else do the same. indeed, the only person indicated by the movie to be involved is leia whom vader wants to know.
it's not about redeeming vader to the galaxy and in fact he probably shouldn't and isn't going to be. because vader didn't in fact do it for the galaxy. he saved luke and was saved in turn. but nobody owes him anything.
so luke holds a silent vigil and remembers his father and is glad that he's free. but. there are billions of lives ruined by him that are still out there. and luke won't tell them to mourn this man with him.
