#i already threatened that little basard twice in these i may as well make good on it #pizza tower #peppino spaghetti #fake peppino #the noise #fp ''oh god wait that is not a real rat and also tastes awful'' moments. he doesnt actually have any interest in eating that thang ok #even if seeing a small scampering little guy like that WILL activate his prey drive without fail #peppino loves it he thinks it's the funniest shit in the world for fp to go after noise. so he is always encouraging this.#but anyway yeah. fp is *really* not the one noise should be worried about.#arting #pizzaposting #i still have lots of tag room thjis time so im gonna do some tangential nonsense rambling. e #fp gotta be like crazy good at hunting i think. not just for strength and predator instincts but also bc like #he doesn't have much in the way of a scent or body heat or anything that would give him away as an alive thing #not to mention he's uh... not particularly organically-shaped a lot of the time #so esp. to smaller prey that don't like... memorize a landscape; if he holds very still he's like completely undetectable #total ambush king. though i'm sure hes also very good at #persistence and pursuit hunting since he has peppino's speed and no way of getting muscle fatigue. ultimate beast #fortunately he doesnt care that much and doesnt really need to eat so hes not devastating the local ecosystem or anything #except for the rats.

Fall rain and cool weather means mushroom season!! This is the 3rd cookie sheet I've filled since Saturday 💜🍄 I'm dehydrating them for soups and stews. Boletes make the very best mushroom broth, I actually prefer them rehydrated versus fresh.

i LOVE first contact with aliens stories, seriously it’s one of my favorite tropes, but authors writing it really need to understand that there’s no writing it without engaging with the colonial history behind it whether you intend to or not, and if your story is about humans settling on another planet you’re gonna look stupid if you don’t

#also like. idk how to put it into words but.#if your excuse for why humans are leaving earth is because it’s become uninhabitable. it will always always ALWAYS be easier #to try and fix earth than to start over somewhere else #literally even if earth has nothing but rocks it STILL has more going for it than even the most habitable exoplanet #at least earth has air we can breathe gravity we can bear and is in the habitable zone #and it’s not full of potential allergens or plants/animals that we can’t eat #and we *already know* what’s edible and useful on earth which we’ve learned over millennia #and also. hand waving all the shit like allergens and inedible flora/fauna.#if your colonial humans are scratching a living from the soil and trying to find a niche for themselves in the local ecology.#ugh what am i trying to say here #like. *mean girls meme* so you DO acknowledge that ‘primitive’ technology is the best tools for this job?#but it’s more than that. like okay these colonists are doing the best they can with what they have and so they’re not ‘primitive’?#so you admit that the best way to ensure survival for future generations is to live sustainably?#i get it. i get it. i love made up alien ecologies and i love survival stories #but there’s gotta be (there is i’ve read it) a better way to tell them that doesn’t trash indigenous people while having your characters #live like them #like??? that’s what i’m trying to say. there’s some cognitive dissonance here #i’m trying to tell a story about people doing colonizing and having them live off of and understand the land #*IN not i’m

i used to think i was faceblind bc irl i had difficulty picking out features but i think it was just due to not liking eye contact bc ive always been really good at telling celebrities apart

#i will say im a little better about it now too but having distinct features still helps #i get a lot of customers who assume i remember them and i feel bad when i dont #bc i do remember lots of people!#but a lot of people just are very mundane #interestingly some people have local dopplegangers too #where i can tell them apart but theyre so similar to another specific person i always am reminded of one when i see the other #but everyone knows me bc i look so specific #yet at the same time i constantly get told people see MY dopplegangers #i think ppl just see a dark haired white person w glasses #also this one dude tried to convince me he saw me eating in whataburger lately?#i have not eaten inside a whataburger in like 3 years and it was several dozen miles away #and the last times i went inside one i def didnt speak to anyone

Blue Camas

We repotted the Camas yesterday. I should have taken pictures of the bulbs. A solid layer of bulbs an inch and a half thick. It was splitting out the side of its cheap plastic pot. The new pot is much larger and we still had too many bulbs.

So we are cooking a few in the oven. They require a low temperature slow baking. About 16 hours so far we will probably cook them for 24 hours. Our Indigenous neighbors use to use earth ovens and wood for the job. I don’t have that sort of luxury but I’ve wanted to try more of the native foods and have been growing these bulbs for about 5 years now. Our Indigenous neighbors rotated which field they would harvest on a 3 year cycle.

Eat Local right?

They need a few more hours before they are done but I tried one. It is already starting to get that caramelized sugar look and cooked right the sugar will be almost black. It was sweet and potato like just like they said it would be. I’ll probably be a bit windy to live with today. Inulin is a mighty nutrient. My probiotic gut colony will love it.

going to the local pizza kebab place that my parents used to take me to for my entire childhood feels like coming back home. i remember when my parents were friends with a lady who worked there. they used to put my little sister on the counter to see that lady every time we went there. now my sister is 21

Yknow what I don't get... counters/bar seating where it's you sitting with several strangers usually, (or alone) and the bartender/server staring at you 😭

I know it's for people who drink or dine alone and that they feel comfort in that bc they can talk to the server or bartender, or their neighbor, or just watch tv. But it to me is hell 😭

I hate my back being to the door, I hate people watching me eat, and I would feel like I had a spotlight on me. Especially since the bar is usually in the middle/front of the place.

For me, my ideal seating is in a booth, away from other customers if possible (but I know that's not always available)

I guess they get spinny chairs and that's cool

#marquilla #i was thinking ab this for some reason today idk why #i remember one time we went to this restaurant that's popular with locals and we'd been there before during the day but it was buuussssyyyy #at night (i mean it's a bar...) and the bar was PACKED and it was so loud i was like 😢 as i walked past to go to the bathroom sgsgdgd #sometimes though when we go to like applebees for lunch theres people at the bar counter and it's like one guy. that would be my hell #when i was little i always wanted to sit and eat at the bar and as an adult im like 'ill take a booth in the back by a window please' but #internally bc im not the type to ASK where to sit like you place me where it's convenient o7 #the back to the door thing is 100% paranoia bc im terrified of being in a shooting. also why I'd prefer be by a window so i could #ideally break it and get out #i never used to get why my dad always insisted on sitting w/ his back away from the door but i get it now 😬
