It is pretty cool how the newer generation (ie: the DDMC mermaids, the arachnikids, especially Hobie, Peni and Gwen the JJK kids, or just Shoko and Satoru if you want to include them) are using the more "weirder" pronouns to refer to themselves (even those who don't have English as a first language which is pretty swag)
I actually do that intentionally when coming up with queer headcanons because I think that is just how stuff evolved in the queer community.
Of course there were people using "weird" pronouns back in the 80s and even earlier, but it just became much more common as time goes on and less stigma and retaliations there are.
Not to say there aren't still problems with using "weird" pronouns at times, which is why some characters like Peni might continue to use she/her pronouns if the environment doesn't seem safe. While others, like Hobie, refuse to bend to the whims of society to be a more "acceptable fag."
Different backgrounds would have different ideas and relationships with gender too. DDMC are robot mermaids, they can't really truly ever identify with "man" or "woman" in a way a human could. So they just gravitated more towards non-human/common pronouns.
I can't say much for Shoko and Satoru, but I think (if I remember right) Satoru had a more privileged upbringing, being part of a more high-up family (I keep getting Suguru and Satoru mixed up in my head and I swear one of these days I will mix them up in a responce D:). Anyway, that kind of background gave Satoru the confidence to just use pronouns like blue/blues. Blues power and prestige makes people on the outside not question blue (at least not directly) so the only people blue has to worry about is blues family, who might not really care as long as blue upholds the family name and tradtions or whatever (which blue isn't really doing by being friends with Suguru).
So yeah, I do see the newer generations as using a lot more "weird" pronouns because it is a lot more normalized and a lot less stigmatized. People from older generations (like Tatiana and Neon) use more traditional she/her and he/him pronouns, but not all of them do because Elivy (lead singer of the Goolings) uses they/them pronouns (also he/him). They just took a longer time to figure things out and only really started using those pronouns later in life (showing that not everyone figures things out when they are young).
I'm also depending on having my OC Carna change pronouns when fae gets older. I like the idea that fae/faer pronouns weren't always gonna stick with Carna, and that's okay to happen. Sometimes you are wrong about your gender or sexuality or whatever, and it's okay to change that over time.
Even with older generations like the Psychonaut Interns (who would all now be in their like 30s or 40s at this point in the story) played around with gender and pronouns when they were young. Adam even going by yo/yoself pronouns during the like 80s. Definitely not something conventional (or honestly even smart if yo was in a dangerous area or bigots, same with Sam or Lizzie using he/him pronouns), but it was something that the interns did because they all were in an area that promoted self expression and to explore your identity and mind.
Not to mention Sam and Razputin being related to some of the Psychic 7 and Lizzie having Compton as a mentor, some of the Psychic 7's queerness would have rubbed off/been taught to these three which would have quickly spread through the interns as they experimented with pronouns and stuff.
Anyway! Yeah, I actually did that intentionally when it comes to pronoun headcanons! The younger someone is, or the newer the generation, the easier it is for me to headcanon them with more "weird" pronouns. I can definitely still come up with "weird" pronouns for older generation characters (love the cosmo/cosmos headcanon for DJSS a lot, need to start using that more), but it is definitely going to be more common with newer generation characters.
(also just thinking about the DDMC, Peni, and Margo talking through text and using emojis as pronouns. Love that and honestly if it was easier to get emojis on a computer I would try making more emoji pronouns headcanons. That is a lazy excuse I know, but I also honestly just don't think of those kinds of headcanons as much as I should lol).
Also, also, just to note, I ONLY speak English. So any kind of pronoun headcanon I give are from and English-speaking viewpoint. I know other languages have different sets of pronouns and gendered language, so I can't really say much on that kind of thing, or how it would translate across languages (or if it would even be a viable thing to do in other languages).
But yea. I do like giving pronoun headcanons even if the character's first/primary language isn't English. I kinda do that thing in my head where a character is speaking one language but to me I can understand it in English. So like if I am making Purl and Rin have a conversation in front of Yinu that they don't want Yinu to hear, I have Purl and Rin speak Korean in my head but it's literally just English to me, but Yinu can't understand Korean. I have no idea why I am saying this because it doesn't have anything to do with the ask, I just felt like sharing it lol.

Ok, another unpopular take about Childe (am I projecting? I definitely am).
Everyone says him seeing himself as a weapon is tragic but I don't think it is. It's the least tragic thing about him really (headcanon: everything that seems horrible about his life is actually good. bad things are everything else).
TMI: I was a very traumatized kid around his age and I remember thinking "I just want to be a door through which something beautiful comes into the world". It provided a certain freedom from being a person.
Being a person seemed to lead nowhere at that time.
(I got less edgy since then)
I believe he's doing exactly that. Being a person sucks in his particular case.
After all, what's wrong with being a thing of beauty and purpose?

do you have any thoughts on luna and harry as a potential couple post-canon? i was reading your post on harry/ginny and i really loved your perspective on it, especially when you said your vision for harry post war was basically just lots and lots of big dogs (i LOVE that mental image and i agree it would be SO good for him!!) but i was wondering if you'd consider luna and harry to be a good match for each other? personally i have a sort of soft spot for the pairing because of how fond harry is of her in canon, and i think if anyone was going to understand and be unfazed by all the difficult trauma responses and long healing process he's going to be dealing with for years after the war, luna seems like a good fit :)
My love for Harry as a character is kind of unusual to me, considering I go pearl-diving for ships when I read things, and I fall in love with dynamics as a conduit to falling in love with characters. That said, I don't really ship him with anybody. I just genuinely adore That Weird Little Dude. Same with Ron; I'm just as pleased to see them with a range of people, because (A) I believe they're good partners and can have great relationships with many people (Ron Weasley get behind me they could never make me hate you Ron Weasley), but also (B) I don't see either of their canon relationships as Definitive. Some characters I ship together because I sincerely believe they are (non-deterministic) soulmates, in that they bring out parts of each other that make them the freshest, happiest, most interesting versions of themselves. With other characters, I'll look at a couple and go: "Huh. Could work!" and smack my giant rubber [APPROVED] stamp on it, then get back to work on my blorbos.
Luna and Harry are one of those couples for me. As I mentioned in that other post, I think Harry's primary requirement in a partner is someone who can treat him normally, i.e. will be generally chill about the Became Wizard Jesus Twice situation. Which is a big ask. Luna is uniquely capable of doing that because Luna is not normal at all, and so treats all things, extraordinary and ordinary both, as uniformly dazzling and delightful. I believe this is why Harry enjoys her so much in their friendship, because he gets to feel valued and treasured without feeling unusual or othered — a hard line to toe, and one even Ron and Hermione occasionally trip up on. He seems to like hanging out with her a great deal, and I think it says something sweet that he asks her to the Slug Club party instead of any of the girls in Gryffindor from his year, whom he'd ostensibly know better.
Luna is a bit of a cipher to me, I admit. We know she's the daughter of an eccentric and probably traumatized single father, raised without a mother; deeply lonely, because of how she's been ostracized for her beliefs and hobbies, and the victim of some degree of bullying for it; and yet full of a passionate, almost effortless wonder and joie de vivre. She's also intensely loving (cf. painting her friends' faces on her bedroom ceiling) and very hard to embarrass. She likes Harry for understandable reasons; they share most of those qualities (Harry's more sensitive to others' opinions, understandably so), and the only point where they diverge is their actual hobbies and interests. Harry seems pretty fond of her nonsense, and I bet she could sell him on crumple-horned snorkacks given some time — maybe if Hermione took a vacation to Switzerland and left them alone together.
In general, what I find sweet about the idea of these two is they're so chill. These are two people whose chief ambition is to hang out, enjoy their hobbies, and see some cool magical shit. Date night is so fucking easy for these two. Plus, Harry is a hothead a lot of the time, and Luna just... vibes. Literally never bothered. Insane levels of not fussed at all times. Very helpful for Harry, who has a bad tendency to bottle up his feelings and then blow up at the first person to sneeze at him. Conversely, I'd hope that Harry would age into the kind of genial, confident dude who would be able to rock up with a function where people were talking shit about Luna and be like :) My wife? You mean my wise and beautiful wife? Surely you are not talking about my wise and beautiful wife. :) instead of doing what he'd do from age 15-17, which is get mad and stomp around sulking. Which, again: teenager. Orphan. Non-stop trauma gauntlet from age 2-18. Excuses are made. But still. Would think it best if Luna's husband were not perhaps so keenly sensitive to gossip, for Luna's sake.
Anyway, these are just some dissembled thoughts. There's also something in there about Harry, boy under the staircase, falling in love with the magical world and ending up the Most Magical person, i.e., the person who took believing in magic to such an extreme that she imagines magic that doesn't exist yet. And Luna ends up with the one person who's inarguably stranger than she is.

alphinaud and alisaie are an example of siblings written by people who know siblings very well and choose to have them call each other brother and sister, proving that telling people not to write this quirk because it gives away that you’re an only child is just shorthand for how it’s a common warning indicator of thoughtless sibling writing and isn’t actually the problem itself

whenever i think abt writing Nandor and i get going thru a series of sequences of him behaving like a well-adjusted, caring, adult i have to stop myself, backspace several mental paragraphs and remember that he's basically a semi-captive lion being observed in a nature documentary and he functions on 92% Id

#wwdits#what we do in the shadows#nandor#nandor the relentless#neat fanfic trick: if you're nandor is behaving ooc like a normal well adjusted empathetic human being just ask yourself#“what would a lion do in this exact scenario?”#and whatever the absurdity it's probably closer to the truth than not#anyways i have a lot to say abt the amorality of the vampires and how they simply don't function with the same human ethical thought#but that doesnt mean they dont care and love and have social behaviors of their own that shouldnt be judged less than#and will express those emotions in ways that might feel foreign to most humans#...is what i say to myself to keep from crying as i delete 3 pages of nandor talking out his feelings 😭😭😭#(also brief note: when i say he functions on Id its not that he lacks intelligence or the capacity to use it along with his ego/super ego)#(as seen in the s5 finale)#(but rather he's an apex predator so his whole being is funneled into traits for hunting. not other things we think show intelligence)#(in the mordern non hunting/gathering world)#(which is partially why he's so disconnected from the world and struggles to find purpose in an environment that no longer values him)#(truthfully nandor is human but simply the definition of humanity has changed rapidly from what it valued centuries before)#(and leaves nandor lost)#(except for guillermo. his one connection to humanity and what anchors him to the modern world 🥲)#(...looks like i got lost in the tags again...)
