So anyone with any familiarity with me and my blog knows I am a Caswen lover for life. They are my babies, I love them dearly, I am a Caswen truther to the end, if S5 ever happens they're going canon, idc. You get the idea.

However, in the interest of fairness, I've asked Rinas before what they'd want Gina to do if (when, sorry not sorry) Ricky and EJ became a couple, and yet I have not had an answer for the opposite, aka what endgame to give EJ if Rina is considered the canon ending (which it isn't in my mind, but whatever, not the point). The answer I see tossed around most as 'canon' is EJ and Val

But I reject that answer because A. EJ is a gay man and you can't change my mind on that, and B. They always seemed much more like platonic besties/sibling energy to me, and it's like the one male-female relationship in this show that never officially turned romantic, can we please keep at least one? Men and women can be platonic friends.

So instead I present some alternatives. Option 1 is Rico. Who is Rico, you ask? This is Rico.

Played by Andrés Peñate. He isn't in S4, which means it's totally possible that Rico was a senior just like EJ and graduated. So EJ, connecting with the theater group on campus, runs into Rico, they realize how little they interacted despite their close social circles, and eventually fall deeply, madly in love. Literally all we know about Rico is that he loves dancing and presumably theater, and also seems to have good rapport with the rest of the Wildcats, so I feel justified in expounding upon his character with this invented subplot. Disney, feel free to use it in the EJ Caswell spinoff that better be coming down the pipeline.

Option 2 is another major dancer on the show, Kaden.

Also pictured and shown here within the same frames as Rico.

We have roughly the same amount of characterization on Kaden, the only difference is he's either Ricky's age or younger considering he's still at East High in S4. I just think they'd be cute. Nothing deeper than that. And even if Caswen reigns in my heart, I can now also have a rarepair side pairing of Riden (Kaco?)

So the question remains, what would these ships be called? RiJ? KJ? Casate? Daywell? For the record we know the dancers share their last names with their actors based on the jerseys and BTS info in S4. Or at least we can presume that that's the case since the show never bothered to give us anything else.

Anyway, these are my answers now to who EJ ended up with after S4 if we want to make the assumption that Ricky never realized his true feelings.

Ship-namers, help me out here please. I might even write some fanfiction to flesh this out, because Elton John Caswell deserved so much better than the show gave him and I will write his whole arc resolution and a spinoff if I have to.

strawman - another Eddie character study from me?? wie überraschend. this one is sort of a loose assemblage of headcanons about his life and the people in it. in particular his relationship to his family and Wayne in particular. statistically, steddie is probably there too we'll just see where the day takes me

dog at the door - steve POV come back wrong adjacent emotional damage. I never know how to talk about this one without giving away the game too much but it is a canon compliant look at life post S4, Eddie Munson is dead and the world ended. while the gang hurries up and waits to thwart the apocalypse amidst their shifting new normal, steve loses whatever ability to compartmentalize the last 4 years he's had as the world around him becomes unrecognizable. and there's something in his yard.

kjs - a little eddie pov steddie somethingsomething that belongs in @cwstau & @bettiebloodshed's killjoys/capitalist apocalypse AU (Conventional Weapons on Ao3 my friends) you should read the main fic L went absolutely ham on the world building it infected my brain like. instantly.

Hi !!! I just stumbled onto your blog!! What's your Danger Days au about, I thought the art looks so cool so far for it!!!!!

Hi hello yes, I’m not going to lie I literally came up with that au two days ago so my thoughts are Very jumbled and rudimentary still but the general idea would go like this:

- Relevant characters would be The Girl, The Director, Kobra, Cherri Cola, Dr. D, and the rest of the Four obviously but mainly those first ones.

- The killjoys fail to save The Girl when she’s six and captured by BLi, none of them die in this universe so they have to leave her there. I’m not sure if they assume she’s dead or what, but certainly it’s accepted that they won’t see her again.

- During the 12 years between the music videos and the comics The Girl is raised by BLi in this sort of Black Widow program thing. Maybe isolated from other people? She definitely undergoes a lot of brainwash-y manipulation stuff to warp her memories of what happened to her with the killjoys. She remembers being with them but thinks she was a prisoner basically. I think it’s important that BLi doesn’t try to wipe her memory entirely, they want her to remember what being a kj was like and who the Four are.

- This au would dive pretty deep into my own headcanons about how the Danger Days universe works. It would be extremely uncannon and campy and a total psychological horror story. Instead of being about the Zones it’d be about BLi and the characters connections to it rather than how they’ve separated themselves from it, bc in this au that tether is very much still there.

- We’d focus a Lot on Kobra and The Girl as two sides of the same coin. Imagine how in Stranger Things S4 Eleven and Vecna were used to show both their stories from one another’s povs. It would be something like that. I’ll just say that the inclusion of Kobra in that last art rather than another character is very intentional!!

- I don’t want to go on a long winded rant about the preternatural sci-fi fuckery that would be ALL OVER this story so just trust that it is a key element. I’d explain that in a separate post because it’s way to long. But this au would see that sci-fi fuckery in a completely different light than a normal timeline would. Instead of being a positive force it would be negative, sometimes outright dangerous.

- Not sure on an ending. I want to say BLi dies but I really don’t know. The characters arcs would be so complicated, I don’t know if it would make sense for everyone to just be fine in the end. I have not gotten that far anyways. I’m still on the fun parts right now.

i think s5? i need to do a full-series rewatch to decide for sure but s5 really got me on the emotional layer, i felt like i was really vibing with these adult cinematic trauma flash-forward takes on our established characters and dynamics, and all of the playfulness with the very form of The TV Show itself. someone in academia will someday write some shit about how "genre itself" is a character in riverdale and that is most apparent in s5 imo. you can leave the town of riverdale but if you can't subvert your genre programming then what does it matter? also remember how archie is a dog but also a vigilante but also a soldier in a trench listening to his friends suffer the cruel whims of yet another narcissistic authority figure who might get away with it. and also he's inhaling the fumes from the mines and flipping out on his therapist and having hiram lodge nightmares STILL and

6. Which musical episode is your favorite?

archie the musical. obvious reasons

(close close second) hedwig and the angry inch. this was for me. like. the way they adapted the themes/concerns of the original musical to the ongoing s4 character subplots was so loving and thoughtful. the performances were such loving and thoughtful send-ups of the 2001 movie. kj apa IS michael pitt. it was loving and it was thoughtful and stephen trask collaborated!! riverdale is queer culture and roberto was RIGHT to write the names of the gang into the list of queer pop culture icons in midnight radio. they are.

next to normal - soooo witty how they worked such extremely literal lyrics into new scenarios. like a pun in musical theater reference-making form. great performances. interesting new angle on the now-familiar rvd musical episode format. no notes

carrie - as a musical episode? unremarkable. but as an episode? iconic. has the barely-subtextual sugar daddy vs dad hirarchie loyalty triangle subplot going for it and one of my favorite archie parentification bits. and it's all played in contrast with cheryl actually setting boundaries with her mom via fire and blood. these are all major selling points for me

heathers - i'm gonna say something sooooooooooooo brave (like BRAVE brave) and it's that i don't like all camp. some camp is not good, and heathers the musical is bad camp. and i don't think rvd did anything that interesting with it as far as telling character stories or making me think differently about a dynamic/plot. i love veronica's parental divorce B plot, i love those as a rule. and i love all of the heavy-handed hairflip sound effects, this is where they first really started to pop off i think. yk?

american psycho - i'm donna tartt. and also i don't think roberto is so good at lyricism or that he has so much to say about patrick bateman that he needed to adapt this again

taskmaster (s1-5): haven't done an early seasons rewatch in so long, s4 and 5 are basically perfect 2 me. incredible that mark watson manages to be both my favourite type of taskmaster guy (hopelessly despairing) and also nearly won the thing lol. nish forever obviously

Sorry this is real delayed but I don't like Riverdale but once it's on Netflix it's something I definitely binge cause it's mega bonkers. So first thing you gotta know about Riverdale is that it's written by Roberto Aguirres sacasas who has written quite a few things for marvel comics. But also once created an unofficial play that received a cease and desist from Archie comics because Archie was gay and also dating a real life serial killer. So the man is a total freak, but is now the chief creative director of Archie comics. I'll say that the first 2 seasons play out much like a pretty little liars type show in which our teen gang tries to solve murders/serial killings. S3 amps it up by introducing a cult who's entire purpose is traffic the organs of the teenagers they lure (said leader of the cult will eventually launch himself out of a cannon to try escape authorities somewhere in S5) and really convoluted DND game sweeping the town which gets people to commit suicide and murder and stuff. S4 is kinda boring and revolves around more serial killers including Betty's long lost brother who is now dating a man that has pretended to be said brother a couple seasons prior and now they're both serial killers cause that runs in Betty's family apparently. I truly forget these middle seasons cause they're so whatever but later the gang all gets caught in a timeloop and manifest powers and I kid you not cheryl resident redhead gets the powers of the Phoenix and tries to break them out the timeloop only to send them to 1950's Riverdale which is where the final season takes place. There are a lot more insane individual plotlines but at this point I truly cannot get into them, but sorry to flood your inbox with this nonsense but the people deserve to know the insanity that goes on in this show.

i thought the cheryl thing was more of a wandavision pastiche than a phoenix thing but its slay if theres a phoenix callout. lowkey cheryl blossom could play ultimate x-men jean grey. like she would slay that plotline where jean is haunted by the tiny goblin hallucinations that are a manifestation of the phoenix force. seems like something that would happen to her. who can get me on the phone w mr aguirres i have some ideas.

i am personally mostly intrigued by the many implications i have seen that archie is having a gay awakening with reggie and jughead cant be there because hes trapped in a timeloop. i assume. its hard to tell if hes actually having a gay awakening or this is just a different flavor of that text post about kj apa trying to remember to have an american accent and going "i wish i had a husband" or whatever. you know the one.

Originally the idea of Bollywood rewrites came to me while rewatching SOTY post s4 and wanting a ronance AU so bad 😭 it's currently on the back burner while I work on finishing the ronance s1 rewrite but I hope to get back into that AU soon!! ❤️

The Dostana AU was partially motivated by spite LMAOO the urge to prove to KJ that if him and the writers weren't cowards!! they could've made an actual queer storyline!! 💀💀 But I digress...

While his sister had a love for the ocean, Mitchell could do without it. Sure it was pretty and he always had a good time swimming and surfing, but he preferred to stay on the beach and read when it wasn’t too hot out at least. And him preferring to stay on the beach was partially why him and his Mother had become so close as she didn’t like the ocean much either and had no interest in surfing unlike her daughter and husband.

The move was still hard on Mitchell though, not just because he missed home and his dad but because now that his Dad wasn’t around, Neil had started abusing Mitch along with his own son, Billy. Now, Mitch wasn’t the strongest, the teen was a “nerd” as people would say but years of surfing and other activities with his family and sisters made him pretty strong so he could take the physical abuse, it was the verbal abuse that ate away at him late at night.

He had grown up in a pretty accepting home, which was why by the age of 13 he and his sister felt comfortable enough to come out to their family. But that had been before the divorce, and before Neil, and while Mitchell knew there wasn’t anything wrong with him for who he loved, he started to believe otherwise. He wasn’t super outgoing to begin with unlike his twin but with everything going on he shut down, only leaving his room when necessary.

He did well in school academically at least, and managed to not get bullied but that was partially because of who his step brother and sister were but also because he kept to himself, barely talking to anyone. The only friend he had was Robin Buckley, a girl he shared a few classes with as well as was in band where he played piano and guitar. The two of them quickly became friends, and after getting a little closer Mitch told her he was gay, to which the Buckley girl had excitedly said “No way? Me too!” and the two of them had been best friends since that day.

Main Verse; Mitchell graduated and is working as a librarian, teaching piano and guitar on the side, while also going to college. He occasionally goes back to California for a few weeks at a time to visit his Dad. [verse; main]

Past Verse; This one could be a few different timelines- for instance s1 (before the Mayfields/Hargroves moved to Hawkins), 2 or 3 or even before that.. [verse; rewind time]

Hawkins Verse; Meredith never moved to Hawkins and decided to stay with her Dad, leaving Mitchell without his twin sister in Hawkins. [verse; half a heart]

Canon S3 Ending; Billy has died and Neil and his Mom have split up, and Mitchell is trying to navigate this new life and cope with the loss of Billy.. [verse; if i could take us back]

Canon S4 Ending; Max is paralyzed and in a coma, and Mitch is trying to cope with that.. [verse; make a deal with god]

hello there, my name is KJ, and I just got a brand-new laptop for my first Christmas as an "adult" (if you can even really call me that). anyway, I wanted to come on here to tell you all of the characters I will be writing for... in case some of you are not aware of the other shows and movies that Finn Wolfhard has starred in. I will include photos and a short description for each character.

first, we have plain old wonderful Finn himself.

he is the main character in several movies and shows that are some of my personal favorites. he is also super hot if that is any reason to write about him.

next we have my number one favorite Finn Wolfhard character, Miles Fairchild.

He is basically a psychopath in this movie but that is NOT the point!!!! i think he is like 15 in the movie so for obvious reasons he will be aged up in the stories.

NEXT, we have Boris Pavlikovsky

Boris is Ukrainian and Russian and polish but lives in the deserts of Las Angles. he might be moderately addicted to drugs, but you know what baby? me too. now again for obvious reasons seeing as he was 13 in this movie, I will be aging him up to 18 years old.

LAST BUT CERTIANTLY NOT LEAST MIKE WHEELER.

he will also be aged up. ok look Finn, if you are going to be of age in real life and look that damn fine then I'm going to need you to start playing some damn 18+ roles PLEASE.

Why I think B*rchie MAY be over quickly.

Look, gonna put it out there right now: I may be wrong. I may be entirely too hopeful and they may in fact want to drag this ship out until they have zero fans left, because goddamn it, if the network won't cancel them they'll cancel themselves!

Regardless, here is what I think is likely.

1. They have never framed BA well. Never. Literally every time B*rchie gets brought up, it's in a negative format. And almost always, it's at a low point for Betty. Case in point:

S1: Archie rejecting Betty.

S2: Betty and Archie kissing during the lowest point for Betty and neither of them wanting to pursue that any further.

S4: Betty and Archie kissing and having it be (rightfully) acknowledged as cheating, Betty shutting it down.

S5: Betty and Archie hook up when Betty is at an exceptionally low point and Archie wants to hook up with Veronica.

S6: Betty and Archie are living together, but he is entirely dismissive of her wanting to adopt and oh yeah, she kills him twice.

Look, for all their talk about wanting to "explore" BA, they really don't. They want to use it for drama. It would be so easy to frame it well. Look, I get the distrust for the writers. I do. But even they know how to make the audience root for a couple. They do. There were so many times they could have framed B*rchie well. Talked up their mutual interests, showed them connecting emotionally to each other, made them rely on each other for something they'd only get from the other. They didn't. Deliberately. They went the opposite direction, actually. Through the entire series, we're to see B*rchie as an obstacle. A drama to be overcome. Even when they were happy in the 'vale, they weren't. Six seasons later, why am I to believe that this time they mean it. Six seasons in, one season max away from the end of their run, this time they mean it?

2. I don't think them putting BA in the trailer bodes well for them, nor do I think it's a positive thing for them that they haven't yet dealt with the curse.

3. These two are a bit looser, the ones I don't put a ton of stock in: we've heard next to nothing from Evan or any of the BA twitter accounts. Could it be because the trailer isn't out yet and they don't have the content to work with? Maybe. But I just feel like if they knew something, it'd have leaked by this point, or Evan would be Evan-ing all over the place, instead of commenting nothing but a praying hands emoji.

4. I haven't seen a lot of Lili filming with KJ (nor them being on set a lot - filming schedules post Christmas are weird. Ditto Cole and Erinn, but neither post a lot so it's difficult to tell.

5. How very Riverdale would it be to just build this all up for as long as they have and then just shrug well that's over to BA an episode or two in? So so Riverdale.

6. Roberto himself has said the ships "run their course". Since they've never been able to sustain BA, I can see it petering out in an episode or two when they realize they have nothing in common. JT will last a bit longer but past episode 8 I think it's the beginning of the end for these two.

7. At the very least, Betty and Archie will be pulled to different plots, and soon. They've never shared a plot for more than an episode or two, and when their plots diverge, they functionally never interact.

Anyway. Again, maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see this lasting long at all. Would love to hear thoughts though!

Also, to the people who will screenshot this and, ahem, comment, what's your favorite color? I like orange but I am unique in this. Validate me before you decry me!
