can't stop thinking about how Gnosia is the absolute weirdest game I've ever played from a design perspective (complementary). How did they ever make a single-player social-deduction roguelike visual novel with rpg elements? How did they make it so good?

It's a classic Werewolf/Mafia game in space. The roguelike nature means it's actually a puzzle you have to figure out each time, instead of just picking up on story hints and foreshadowing. And you not only get to learn things about the other players, you have to get to know them to know how to read and manipulate them. Where other games need you to learn "After you dodge twice, the boss is open to attacks", Gnosia needs you to learn "Jonas will always trust Kurushka, so if you're suspicious of her then you should make sure he doesn't have many allies either" or "People really like Otome so don't accuse her of anything before building up some goodwill of your own". It's been a couple years since I played it but I still remember all of these character interactions because they're not only fun characters in the story, but understanding them is integral to the actual gameplay.

And speaking of gameplay, the rpg elements are just perfect. Your stats are things like "Draw less attention from the imposters when you're outspoken in trials" and "People trust your accusations more". By putting those things in plain text as stats they can be changed, it makes the player keep them in mind as game mechanics. If you get killed off early, it feels less like "wow the rng sucks" and more like "maybe I should accuse people less and so I don't get targeted, even if it means more people getting killed". It's a great way of making sure that these mechanics aren't just tutorialized once and forgotten, but that they're top of mind as solutions to problems.

They made it all mesh together so well. And I haven't even talked about the story yet, the story is also real good, but the design is just *chef's kiss*

Thinking plotting scheming of pt, but make it diceyd/ungeons. I think it fits so well; the plot of dd is so cute and its easy to smush existing characters into that universe.

Peppino wishes for his debt to be cleared and for his shop to be successful. Pman wants him and his art to be famous and revered beyond his wildest dreams. Vigi wants Justice or whatever (but hes actually here to be nosy about the ins and outs of the show itself). Noise wants MONEY and FAME. Mysterious man who looks like peppino wants his own shop :). All the pt bosses are dd bosses before going ‘hey, u know what? This gig kinda sucks ass. If u think u can take on the big cheese im jumpin onboard w you’.

Thats all i got LOL i am debating if i still want lady luck to be the boss or let pizzaface be the big bad and just remove the existing dd characters entirely. Pizzahead would always be the jester, and therefore, always be your last die/teammate, which i think is cute heehee hes tired of being a silly little guy no one takes seriously! Hes got silly dreams too!!!! Hes a silly guy w dreams!!!

If I can make Vivia purr to my heart's content, then god damnit I'm gonna make Yakou purr, too! And though I can't base Vivia purring in any form of realism, I sure can for Yakou! Studies show that low-frequency purring of cats can be linked to assisting in healing themselves and even humans. Soooooooo since homunculi are immortal creatures meant to serve as soldiers, who's to say they can't purr to speed up the regeneration process for wounds and illnesses?! Pre-epilogue, perhaps not many of Kanai Ward's citizens are aware they can purr since it might be something that only 'activates' when they're actually knowledgeable of their capabilities as homunculi, or happens in short, surprise bursts during moments of intense emotion that someone could just shrug off as a frog in their throat.

Hence why I love imaging Viviakou being lovey dovey at the agency, maybe it being their first time snuggling up to one another, and Vivia begins purring and doesn't act shocked about it at all. Yakou curtly tilts his head and comments, "I didn't know you could do that." Then only a few seconds later, Yakou also starts purring and that gets a surprise reaction outta both of them. Vivia perks up, eyes wide with wonder, while Yakou adds with fervent fluster, "I didn't know I could do that!" He quickly excuses it with his hoarse throat from smoking and goes right back to snugglin'.
