I’ve been thinking about Cucurucho’s method of recruiting, and I think I found a pattern? An M.O. of sorts.
So, the pattern for q!Jaiden and q!Foolish aka the non-initiators goes:
Cucurucho becomes friendly with the chosen person.
Cucurucho figures out what the person wants, either by asking or observing.
Cucurucho then asks, “what are you willing to do to get the thing?”’
Then comes the tasks!
Now this sort of applies to q!felps too, except he was the first one, so I think the M.O. wasn’t fully developed, so instead of tasks, he got kidnapped right away. But I think kidnapping might be a risk for q!Jaiden and q!Foolish.
Now onto q!Cellbit aka the initiator, where the pattern differs because of who initiates the contact:
Player initiate contact to the federation
Player gets tested in some way.
Start working for the federation/get tasks.
Player actively searches for clues in federation.
Get kidnapped.
Q!Fit’s pattern is currently following this path, but the pattern is not complete, so it’ll be interesting to see it develop. The test part for q!Cellbit was the tasks he had to do before joining the federation, where the first had to do with the other players, and for q!Fit, he had to get letters of recommendation from other players. I think the first test is to see if they’re on good enough terms with the other players. Which ties in with q!Quackity’s path below.
Q!Quackity’s aka the wet cat's path:
Unsuccessfully initiated contact to federation but got their attention.
Did not get work despite willingness.
But did get kidnapped.
Seemingly came back but not as himself.
Now I believe q!Quackity didn’t get to work for the federation(at least not as himself), because q!quackity isn’t a trusted member of the island. Everybody sort of sees him as a non-trustworthy person. This is not to say they don’t like him, but his past actions make people wary of him. This is also the outlier, as he is the only one having this path, hence why I don’t call it pattern.
All in all, I think the federation has a handful of players they’ll contact themselves, a handful of players they’re watching and allowing a chance into the federation if they initiate contact, and a few they don’t want. Someone smarter than me might be able to connect the dots I can’t.

Sinking deeper into one piece hell so while I do that let me praise the live action for a second! The way Luffy has a different way of being affectionate with each of his crew members is so perfect for all of them
There's a million posts about how his hands are all over Zoro but it's perfect for the guy who doesn't want to talk about feelings or like. think too hard about problems. His solution is to physical force his way through everything so it's on brand for him to respond to a physical touch as a love language
and then Nami who I really wanted to make this post about!!! The way Luffy keeps sliding into frame to join what she's doing, sticking his head right next to hers so he can see things from her perspective--it's super cute first of all, but also just a nice visual reminder that he's like. We've got this, I'm with you
I've only rewatched as far as Usopp joining them and there's one specific moment of them grabbing onto each other and then side-eyeing in a kind of comedic relief way, but the awkward silliness of it seems to match Usopp and his wacky stories and even if Luffy's rolling his eyes he still checks afterwards to make sure Usopp isn't hurt or offended
Haven't rewatched Sanji's episodes yet so nothing about him yet but something something arguing with Zeff is a twisted way of expressing affection for him and making this about zosan is off topic but. crumbs. whatever
In conclusion I think they're neat
