It is very (genuinely and fondly) amusing to me that you say this, considering I have twice as many Genshin Impact fics posted on AO3 as I do Hazbin Hotel ones, hahaha. Plus like a dozen more sitting in my drafts that I'll slowly set free from zine prison:

I think the sheer length of time I spent in the Genshin fandom + the fact that I was in, like, over three dozen zines that were mostly Genshin made it feel like the most significant fandom that I've been a part of in the past couple of years. Especially since having so many contributor copies of zines means my wall is plastered with Genshin prints and other merch!

Anyway, I don't really play anymore, but I very well may get back into it in the future! I stopped at the beginning of Fontaine, basically, though I fucking love Furina.

My favorite characters are, in no particular order: Furina, Childe, Xiao, Scaramouche, and Albedo! (That's a lie, Albedo is my true favorite forever. But the rest are in no particular order, hahaha.) There are a lot of other characters that I adore, though.

Maybe it's because I've been trying to get more into drawing bgs again but rn the one I'm most proud of is this wallpaper I did for the brry zine. Inspired by Konstantin korovin

what made you decide to have a go at making zines, and how did you find the process? fun? frustrating? new hobby unlocked?

it's been a lot of fun and is super satisfying to hold a finished booklet in my hand. new hobby unlocked for sure.

in fact i'm going to ramble about it under the cut.

i'd been looking into on and off for over a year, and, frankly, i've been going slowly mad at having normal levels of focus and productivity dangled in front of me, only to be snatched away AND put on bed rest without even jacking off as an outlet.

i did a bunch of painting, but i've run out of canvases and focus. and while i really wanna sculpt, 1) i just haven't gotten my brain to switch to that track, 2) i've only just recently been able to tolerate standing at my usual work counter again, 3) having a small child who wants to mirror everything i do is fun when i'm physically able to handle it, but i am not physically able to handle it. i can do a craft myself OR i can set them up with supervised craft time. not both.

that leaves my writing, but i haven't been able to focus enough to write. so what to do with all my old stuff? may as well take that last leap into making zines! it's also an excuse for me to break out my drawing tablet to make cover art (i'm not good but they're small and it adds to the charm i think).

overall it's been shockingly easy. the hardest part was making a format template, but once i had that figured out i was set. i conveniently already had a laser printer, and considering i can't go anywhere (like a place with a public printer) i wouldn't have been able to do this otherwise.

the most expensive thing i had to buy for this was a nice paper cutter, which was $24. it honestly wasn't necessary. i could have just folded the paper or cut them with scissors, but imo it really goes a long way in making them look nice. i also have a long reach stapler that's made for making booklets and magazines coming in that will be really nice for putting them together neatly and consistently.

i still dont know what i'm going to do with them tbh. i have some friends that are gonna get free copies of their favs, and at least the poetry one i'm going to have out if i'm able to do the craft fairs this year (fuck me i hope i'm better by then), but i need to see what kind of stuff they allow. even if they allow sexually explicit material, i'll probably still leave stories like Red Hot at home.

i could do an online shop for the rest, but i'm not sure where. i already have a kofi account for commissions, and they have a shop feature, but at the same time they say in their TOS they don't allow any form of sexually explicit material. and last i heard about etsy they were being shitty about charging for advertising you didn't opt into. so i'd need to do more research into that.

say what you want about whether or not i should be able to make a profit off of little homemade porn booklets, but i'd at least need enough money to buy the toner for my printer by the time i ran out, which is hella expensive. i think back when i got this thing it was like $70 a pop. it lasts a lot longer than ink but it's more expensive up front.

:) Hi! 4. Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw - There are plenty of things I wish I was better at drawing at, that I would draw more if I thought my skills were up to par with what I imagine in my head (mostly cityscapes and backgrounds tbh when I do get a hankering I have so much fun). But right now in particular in the cyberpunk (Hollowpoint) campaign I'm in one of the pcs has a fucking mask that makes me want to commit crimes on their player. There is now a year long running gag about this man not fucking taking his mask off and how much easier its going to be for me to draw him once we see his face. I want to draw him more!!! I really do!! I love all of the pcs to death but like motherfucker, your mask (and hood tbh) is a nightmare stop.

8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in - I would be amiss to not bring up the Sburbia/Long Play tarot deck BUT its more like on hiatus, I'm just taking a big ol' break. Slowly been creeping through the swords so its still a work in progress just really slow now that most of the majors are out of the way. Other than that it's mostly animatics and animations. My animatics folder is called 'Animatics u will never do' because I realize most of the time I bite off more than I can chew. I've finished one (1) animatic and its the one that's pinned to the top of my blog. 9. What are your file name conventions - Haha. A mix. Sometimes snappy titles, sometimes just informational, sometimes just absolute garbage. Some favorites:

Hiya i'm Han, i'm here contributing as a page artist! I've been into tf2 since 2014, but this is the first time i've ever been in a tf2 zine. Really happy to be a part of this project since spy is my fav merc and he's been my favorite character for a long time. Thanks for having me!

Q: What is your favorite spy moment?

The one brief scene of the living decapitated BLU Spyhead living in the fridge in Meet The Medic. I love him.

2022 Fanfic In Review

Since I did the whole Fanfic Review thing, I'm just going to do one of those year-end questionnaires I usually fill out.

1. List of fics completed this year

2. Number of words written: 62,797 which is a bit disappointing since I had like a 100,000 more words last year, but, eh, if you include WIPs and the zine fic that hasn't been posted yet, the number would be bigger.

3. Your most popular fic: I'd say it might as well be a tie between "Welcome To The Family" (100 kudos) and "In The Closet" (99 kudos), but WTTM has six comments to ITC's three, so I guess "Welcome To The Family" is technically the most popular.

4. Your personal fav: "The Baby Question", if I have to choose.

5. Your fav scene: Probably the part in "The Baby Question" when Yuuri and Viktor have just decided to have a baby and are making out on the couch. I just love the little exchange they have where Yuuri reminds Viktor that he can't actually get him pregnant, and Viktor's like, "Don't ruin things with your science and logic!" I'm also rather fond of the dinner scene between Otabek, Yuri, and their toddler son, Lev, in "Never Too Old".

6. A fic or scene that challenged you: Oh, the first version of "Adding Some Spice" was definitely a challenge! I wrote it for the SM Quickies event, and 1,000 words is simply not enough to write an engaging threesome. I did get a chance to expand it later for Sailor Moon Smutember, though, which helped. Also, "A New Home" was the first time I wrote a fic in first person in at least a decade, so I was definitely out of practice!

7. A line of writing you’re proud of: Well, this is more a passage than a line, but this is the part I was talking about in Question #5.

One kiss, of course, inevitably turned into two, then three. By the fourth, Yuuri had fallen on his back against the seat cushions, Viktor's lips journeying down his neck while his warm hands found their way underneath Yuuri's sweatshirt.

"Vitya…what are…you…doing?" Yuuri asked in between increasingly feverish kisses. "I thought…you were…tired?"

"Got a…second wind." Breathing heavily, Viktor propped himself up and grinned mischievously as he looked down at Yuuri beneath him. "Besides, if we're going to have a baby, there's no better time than the present to start trying, right?"

Yuuri laughed. "Didn't we go over this earlier? You can't get me pregnant!"

"Yuuuuuri!" He collapsed on top of Yuuri, burying his face in Yuuri's sweatshirt. "Don't spoil the fun with your science and logic!"

8. A comment that touched you: All of them! (Well, except for the one that called me "manga-toxic" for writing Reinako, and a couple of other troll-y FF.net reviews.)

9. Something that inspired your writing: @soulfulweaver's beautiful Mamotoki fanart was the inspiration behind "Pinkie Promise".

11. Your proudest accomplishment (that one scene; finally finishing that one fic; posting your first fic; etc): Definitely hosting Sailor Moon Rare Pair Week! It was more successful than I dreamed it would be.

12. Do you have any writing goals for next year?: I'd really like to at least start posting the pre-canon JJBek fic I've been working on for the past couple of years. Also, just write more in general, I guess?

Not gonna lie, there's a part of me that wants to. It's been like 6 years or something since I was on either of those blogs but sometimes I'll look back on them and remember how much fun I had creating stories and making friends with other blogs. Al and Heiderich are still very much living in my head rent free and I've recently had a lot of time freed up that I want to use to get back into some of my old hobbies. So even though I'd have to take some time to refresh my memory on the characters and world (it's been a hot minute since I watched any canon fma material), I'm not opposed to the idea. The only problem I guess is that I have no idea if people actually still rp on Tumblr anymore. It's been so long, I've got no clue what the current scene looks like.

What ideas come from when you were little

Not sure if it means past projects that survived to this day, or just general motifs/parts of my artstyle that have made it to my present. If it's about past projects… none really, all my past OCs and stories have died some way or another 😔 My oldest OC right now, Diana, I plan to use in my new project as a supporting character, so maybe her! As for my style and such, I think the "I wanna draw pretty girls, with pretty hair and pretty outfits" of my childhood never left hahah Those are still my fav, and easiest, thing to draw~

4. Fav character/subject that’s a bitch to draw Well, there's a few like this? Idk, Ruggie and Sebek fall in this category for sure 🤔 Malleus too. And then, some of my other favs that are "manlier" from other media as well, like Xander from FE:Fates. I can't think of more like that rn, but I am working hard(?) to be able to draw muscles and manly so I can have the best of both worlds 💪😔 hahah

14. Any favorite motifs This is a bit broad for drawing 🤔 But I'd say some stuff for mine would be: pastel/soft colours, really blended shadding borders, flowy fabric with lots of details, frills, etc. and cute things. Also, I love drawing blushes, so adorable!

28. Any art events you have participated in the past (like zines)

No zines, but I've joined oc x canon week and a couple Twisted Wonderland October events in the past (not the same both times so asklhfaslk). I also participated in a fem!twst collab in the past! And I'm active right now in the twst-charity project, does this count here?

What piece of yours do you think is underrated

TBH, any full rendered art that takes me a few days or even weeks. Those usually are the one with less interactions/appreciation 😭 (Still sad about my Epel Harveston drawing XD. Or how my van Zieks polished art got less interactions than the Susato one, which was doodle-ish with colour 😭) I mean, they're not perfect, but I put so much effort in those arts 😔 Forever sad about this topic.

Q: Please tell us about yourself!

A: I'm Syn and I've been in this fandom for three years now. I love cold seasons. I love spicy foods. I love doing lineart but my lineart isn’t truly lineart, they're just clean sketches (don't zoom in).

Q: Who is your favorite Persona 4 character/s and why?

A: Yosuke Hanamura. He is everything for me. I've always been weak towards comic relief-ish characters who kinda got screwed over by the writers and got misunderstood by half the fandom. I tend to immediately "adopt" them. Also Yosuke is VERY cute, kind, and funny. I want this twink obliterated.

Q: Which Persona 4 characters/s do you find fun/challenging to write/draw and why?

A: Souji Seta/Yu Narukami, I find the most challenging and fun to depict. Because everyone has their own interpretations of him and it's fun to witness each and every one. I find the most joy in trying to mix some of his different personality traits from the manga, game and anime. Or even putting emphasis on some of his more subtle traits I find have the potential to be intriguing but doesn't get addressed as much.

Q: What are your favorite Persona 4 ships?

A: Shuhana and Shuada. I also love to ship almost everyone with Yosuke to be honest. 

Q: Which Arcana do you see yourself as?

A: Wheel Of Fortune, probably.

Q: What's your favorite trope?

A: I have many favorite tropes. One of them (and the most common) is childhood friends/best friends to lovers. 

Q: Do you have a favorite Persona?

A: Yukiko's persona designs rocks (I'm particularly fond of Amaterasu).

Q: What made you want to become an artist?

A: Well I love drawing. So I use that to draw my fav characters in specific scenarios, heehee.

Q: How did you get into the Persona series?

A: Someone gifted me P3FES for my 12th birthday. Unforgettable experience.

Q: What would you like to accomplish with your contribution to AOA zine?

A: Most importantly, I want to have fun and do my part for the community. We all eating good together, fellas.

Thought this would be fun! 1) Total words: as of 12/4/21, I've written 48,018 words! Hoping to maybe hit a round 50k by end of year if my brain will cooperate. 2) fav fic: no truer love, for the Ace Omens zine. Probably the softest thing I've written, and a lot of very personal feelings about aromantic love. 4) Favorite ship: Still absolutely obsessed with Aziraphale/Crowley 5) Crowley. 6) “I know you, Crowley. And I love you, exactly as you are, exactly as you've always been. You have shown your devotion to me, over and over and over again, for six thousand years now. You don't have to prove yourself to me.” He smiles softly, carefully wiping away the demon's tears. “I can ask for no truer love than what you've already given me,” he whispers. 7) Paradigm Shift, aka "the first time Aziraphale heals Crowley", which took roughly six months to write. I had to throw out most of the last 3 chapters and rewrite them (twice, in one case). I'm proud of the end result, but it was very frustrating to work on. 8) "One Step Forward..." Part 2 of my fantasy AU, has been 90% finished since June, and I cannot get my brain to write the last scene. I literally just need a paragraph or two for the conclusion, and I can't get it right. Very frustrating. 9) Paradigm Shift, with about 2900 hits. Although hit count in general has gone way down this year, I've noticed. (In 2020, fics would average 1000-1500 hits the first few weeks, and now they're hovering around 300-400) 10) Longest fic: Also Paradigm Shift, at 11,052 words 11)Shortest fic: be not afraid (I am here tonight) at 1179 words 12) Favorite title: Nothing that I've published, but probably either "Reach Out (and Hold Back)" my touch-starved/touch averse fic, or "Got Your Goat," which is a WIP about Crowley attempting to destroy the Gavlebocken (Yule Goat) 14) Fav comment: I had someone tell me that one of my fics was their favorite of all time, and that they saved it even before making an Ao3 account, and it helped them come to terms with their own ace-ness. <3 <3 <3 Absolutely melted me, I am always so glad when something I wrote can help someone like that. 16) Total published: Just 5 fics this year, 4 one-shots and one longer fic (5 chapters). I've been struggling with burnout and haven't been able to focus enough to finish things. 17) Hoping to finish some more things next year; in particular I would really like to complete my fantasy AU series (3 parts total). Hoping that we don't get too many spoilers from Good Omens S2! Right now I'm enjoying the few bts pics but I do not like the wild speculation fandom does when we hear plot details.
