You awed at him, patting his cute cloth head gently before turning to purchase your donuts, feeling the little guy buzz in excitement.

So. Watcher Royal Hierarchy, and courtship etiquette, go!

First off, The Hierarchy. It’s split into six groups: The Seen, The Workers, The Guards, The Servants, The Council, And The Ruler. But, the society can still run with only five of the six present. (This will be important later ;]).

The Seen are basically the Peasants, and they can be anyone from a prisoner, to a Worker or Guard’s child, or someone who simply lives there, typically for some sort of fee. They don’t get any special treatment, and, despite not technically being workers, they can work mundane daily jobs, or create art and writings, or just not work at all. They are typically not permitted to leave the premises of the caverns

The Workers are exactly what they sound like. They are paid usually large sums of diamonds, and any peasant, if not a prisoner or currently a child, can be moved up to a Workers position within a month or two. They are permitted to leave the Caverns on designated days, and typically only for work related reasons.

The Guards are also exactly what they sound like. Typically, they are born into their position, or train extensively for their spot. The Guards both guard outside the Caverns, and inside, typically keeping the Seen and Workers from escaping. They also are allowed to leave the caverns, as long as they promise to return with either prisoners, or some new people. If they don’t return, they are typically hunted down and thrown in the dungeons, or simply killed on the spot.

The Servants Are the highest level that any ordinary watcher can be appointed to. They work within the castle, usually close with the Ruler. They are all promised a room in the castle, and comfy living for their whole families. Servants who work closely with the ruler tend to be the favorites, usually very close with them, and a few always tend to hover around them. Typically, they are fluent in both english and the local watcher language.

The Council. This is the odd one. Being on the Watcher’s royal council is just about the highest honor the royals could give you. These are typically made up of lovers, best friends, enemies, and close family. Now, a Ruler can technically rule without a council. As Grian had no surviving family, close friends, enemies, or lovers, who were available to serve on the council.

The Ruler. The top of the food chain. The most powerful, adored and feared member of the watchers. Typically, if you ask anyone about the watchers, they’ll have a picture of the ruler, or past rulers, in mind.

Now, for Courtship Etiquette. Typically, Watchers will create things for their mates in hopes of catching their attention. Poetry and Sculptures have been common courting gifts in the past. Gifts of vines and plants for the home are seen as romantic as well, handing over a gift of life to your lover. Typically, Watchers who are also hybrids with something else, will have their own species courting rituals as well. Grian is no exception, though his species of bird is unknown. Offers of intimacy and affection, for example, sharing a bed or hugs, are seen as extremely romantic, as watchers tend to keep to their own personal space. Along with jewelry for proposals, they will also give poetry, sometimes sharing things they’ve observed about the other. It’s also a common tradition to go out and do something completely new when trying to court someone, or as an engagement date. [Skydiving, People watching, river tubing, horse racing, etc]. Who asks the the other to marry them: brad! david thinks about it first and wants to ask for a while but he's worried abt scaring bradley away; i think especially at the beginning of their relationship dave had to help him overcome a lot of internalized homo/biphobia and he doesn't want to seem like he's moving too fast. he kind of anticipates it the night brad proposes bc brad's uncharacteristically antsy and when brad finally asks dave just starts bawling out of happiness and love but brad thinks Oh God I Fucked Up And Made Him Cry

Who buys the other flowers or gifts: i feel like it's a pretty equal exchange, bradley loves surprising dave with flowers while dave impulse-buys things that remind him of brad

Who would bring up possibly having kids: realistically speaking i don't think either would want their own kids to take care of 24/7 since they both already spend all day around kids, though dave has the occasional wave of baby fever. i think they'd end up having a cat that dave found as a stray one day and brought home; ofc brad did that Dad Thing where he initially didn't want to keep it but quickly warmed up to it and they both looove it

in my little single-dad-dave-raising-b&bh-turned-buzzdriessen-au they do both love their idiot sons though. i picture them as being like kitty and red forman from that 70s show

Who is more nervous to meet the parents: they both had shitty parents so buzzcut doesn't talk to his at all and van d talks to his mom once every couple years. in my silly little backstory for brad, i gave him 2 older sisters, so dave does get a little nervous when he meets them, but they all get along so it's chill.

Who sleeps on the couch when the other is angry: dave offers to and sets everything up but bradley insists on sleeping on the couch bc he "slept on worse in 'nam" and he's still insistent on being chivalrous even when they're mad at each other hehe

Who tries to make up first after arguments: david obvs. i feel like they don't fight too much bc van driessen is super conflict-avoidant and buzzcut's always fighting the rest of the world, but he HATES when they're mad at each other

Who tells the other they love them more often: verbally, dave 1000% percent, he's very "love-through-words" while bradley's very much a "love-through-actions" kind of guy, though he does drop the occasional "i love you" out loud and he uses a lot of sappy pet names for dave. i love making him super soft with david bc he hates just about everyone else

where do i even begin? his card from Next Door... I stare at it sometimes bc his chest looks so comfy. and idk i just think mugis a bit on the thiccer side anyway so his chest would be squishy and nice to lay on regardless if we're talkin femstars mugi or not. like. i think he'd be a fan of having his partner just hug him, resting their head on his chest while they ride him. snuggles + fucking? 10/10 in mugis book. plus itd be easy if he got lost in pleasure as well to just grab your hips and move you himself. I now have designs for three of the OCs, Reiko, Saeko, and Loe!

I had ideas for their designs at the start, I was just too lazy to draw them so I made picrews to look like the concepts.

Below is the one I made for Saeko. I knew I wanted him to heavily resemble his father, so I tried to channel that with Saeko’s long black hair and pale skin. Also, he has his father’s poor vision, but wears glasses rather than contacts. I forgot his hearing aids tho 😭. He got his freckles from his mom. He got his ears pierced when he was little, Misa had taken him and Keiko to Claire’s and Keiko wanted to get her ears pierced, but she was a wimp and wouldn’t do it unless Saeko did too. Saeko also has his father’s disproportionate hands 😭. His dress style is super preppy and more for use than looks. He usually copies his father’s “white M-shirt, blue jeans” sort of uniform.

The first design I made was Loe’s design, I had an idea of how she would look very early on. Blonde high school “mean girl” vibes, just like Misa. The story also takes place in an AU where the Kira case didn’t happen, but Shinigami and Death Notes still exist. I was thinking about making it so that Misa was born with the Shinigami eyes, and by a horrible stroke of luck, so was Loe. I’m not sure about this, though.. Below is my design for Loe. A bit tan, and with Misa’s greenish blue eyes, and also with Misa’s freckles. She looks a lot like Misa and none like L, for the most part, and she’s also similar to Misa in terms of height. Loe, if any of the kids, is likely the one to wear lots of makeup, if any. She also probably dresses in a coquette sort of style, yk? She goes to Misa for help with picking outfits, mostly. Sometimes she wears stuff that Misa is all for [“Yeah, it’s cute!”] and stuff that L is not vibing with. Usually because Misa is much more lenient with the amount of skin her kids are showing.

The second design I made was of Keiko. Saeko helps Keiko with passing, so I knew that Keiko would still have a pretty feminine appearance. All the kids are pretty freckly, and then Keiko has Misa’s eye color and nose. She has L’s hair, though, the floofiness and color and everything. I also think Keiko would be the one to wear the most jewelry, but she would likely also wear lots of baggy/COMFY!! clothes. Probably to hide from dysphoria yk. Keiko has those cute lil braids in her hair, Misa did them for her. Don’t ask why everyone is all looking to one side, btw. Lolz. Keiko is also the second tallest kid.

Btw if you go with the "Misa and Loe were born with shinigami eyes" thing you'll have to think about how growing up surrounded by the constant reminder of death would affect her. For BB it made him incrediboy desensitized to the concept and also made him think murder isn't that bad actually because they were gonna die anyway. It's something that affects the person deeply so you might need to modify the character from how she is in canon.

Anyway I lovee all their styles and how different they all dress. That's always the hardest part for me when making ocs lol

i’m 5’3” with really a pale (borderline translucent) skin tone. my hair is brown with natural blonde highlights from being in the sun too much, and my hair is cut into a long shag (like imagine a rock star in the 90s). my eyes are grey and i have a ton of freckles.

my aesthetic is a mix of academia with 90s grunge. in terms of personality i have anger issues and i get depressive episodes but for the most part i try to keep a relatively positive disposition. but my road rage is severe and is always a fun party topic.

i grew up having to appease my parents with everything i did so i started using music as an outlet. i love it so much, i listen to everything from tchaikovsky to kiss to king princess to arctic monkeys. my music taste is the one thing i will openly brag about. i sing for myself and i play the cello for my parents. i’m kind of addicted to caffeine, both coffee and tea, and i clean when i’m stressed out.

i love my friends though i push them away at times but they mean everything to me. i do theatre with them and on weekends when i’m not working part time or studying we play dnd.

Aaaa okay so I follow a very small streamer called AaraisExausted, Ive seen someone sent an ask bout a FNAF stream of his and he did a house flipper stream like 2 days ago and the lil noises he makes while cleaning stuff is just mmmmm /pos, gives the lil Technoblade "bap bap bap" noise vibes and its so comfy and chill

holy shit i have had the most chaotic and whimsical day !! loredump time :3

first up a 9:30am class with meadow with some spreadsheet work, then we went on a big walk of the city for fieldwork (mostly them making detailed notes and me doing one (1) whole sketch and overthinking everything while freezing to death) which kind of sucked. we went quiet n barely talked on the bus ride home (we’re both neurodivergent and it’s hard to unmask around crushes so that just kinda happens sometimes) and barely said anything. ALSO not thirty seconds into hanging out they brought up their crush ,, we’ll call him wells. i am so tired of hearing about wells. meadow is down Bad for this guy they met Once and have been messaging and low-key flirting with. i’m so tired of That :(

later i met up with meadow Again to see a student play that i was interested in ,, it’s a greek tragedy and i rly love classics and greco-roman mythology but it wasn’t really meadow’s thing ;; still the play was cool to me and that’s what matters !! and in intermission meadow and i talked about another friend of ours and how difficult it is to open up to new people that you’re not fully comfortable around yet. he mentioned that (as opposed to the person we were talking about) he’s much more comfortable around me and trusts me :) so that’s a win !! a platonic friendship win :,)

aaaaand cut to like 10:30pm when odie shows up freezing cold for a last minute movie night in my dorm with jiji !! the movie was cool, the company was awesome and they hung around after and aaaa i’m so glad i have friends i can fully unmask around :3 even though i was third wheeling for part of the time i still felt really comfy with them. they’re like ,, the same genre of people as me if that makes sense? they both rly get my humour and i’ve met so many of their friends ,, it doesn’t feel like i’ve only know them for a few months at all. crushes are cool but they always come with so much nerves and overthinking, so it’s cool to have friends around that i don’t have to be like that around. :)
