"It's a full moon tonight."

Phil's voice is casual enough, saying it as easily as somebody else might comment on the weather.

But Techno knows what he is really asking. Wilbur's fingers stop while still halfway entwined in Techno's hair, holding onto the strands that are starting to form a braid. There's hesitation there. There's worry.

There's so much in the face of the fear that he thinks Techno is lacking.

"I'm staying," he says.

"Techno-" Wilbur starts but he's stopped by a growl, low in Phil's throat. Wilbur goes quiet again. Techno can feel his muscles tense. And it's still not fear, it never is. Not with them. No matter how much it should be.

He swallows it away to continue speaking. "Breaking up the pack this close to the full moon will just cause more issues, right."

"Probably," Phil admits. "Control becomes... tenuous at best. A missing packmate would worsen that."

"Yeah," Techno says. "I don't want you guys to get upset."

"And we don't want you to get hurt," Wilbur snaps. Techno jumps a bit, an action that instantly makes him feel guilty. Especially when it has Wilbur breathe out an apology, pulling him closer again. Nuzzling against the back of his shoulder in a silent show of affection that comes so naturally to him even in human form. Techno smiles, petting his brother's head.

"It's okay, you would never hurt me." As he says it, he can feel the skin over the scar on his other shoulder pull tight. "Not on purpose. It was my fault last time. I messed up."

He knows Wilbur wants to answer, to deny. But he doesn't, because then Phil is reaching out his hand and he strokes a thumb along Techno's cheek with a vague smile.

"But you learned. Stick to the rules, right? Then you can continue to belong with us."

Techno nods. 

He wants to belong so badly it makes his chest ache.

And when he's pressed against the ground again, with the entire weight of an animal twice his size bearing down on his sternum and teeth sharper than knives teasing his flesh to draw blood, Techno does not fear. He closes his eyes. Phil exhales warm air through his maw before chuffing and licking Techno's face once. It makes him laugh.

Because in that moment, he belongs.

Cream-of-the-crop Tommy fics

AKA my super picky ass and its fave fics

This is a list I will continue to update but these are some of the fics I have read (most of them are already pretty popular but tbf thats for good reason) that I think are just some of my favourite fics

Please note that these are not ranked by anything and I’ll also be making 2 separate lists for Superhero/powers AUs and foster AUs bcs I have read far far far too many of them

1. Ours Poetica by zeeskeit [unfinished] This fic is one of the most masterfully written fics I've read, the poems the author includes are just incredible, I love the pacing as well as the other characters that we get to meet. This fic legitimately made me try learning poetry, I'm shit at it but the writing is literally that inspiringly good

2. Butterfly Reign by SilentTeyz [unfinished] Pain. Agony. But so wonderfully written, I love it. The cutthroat brutality even the nicest characters are capable of bcs that's just what is needed in the royal court is one of my favourite things in this fic, there is only one character in this fic I think is actually in the right 99.9% of the time and that's Tubbo. Also love the reasoning we get behind all the characters actions *cough* Wilbur *cough*. Also Beau is incredible.

3. 3 weeks, 41 critters, 1 human (series) by Badnews [on going series] There are a lot of very good space AU/humans are orcs SBI fics out there but this one takes a popular trope and redefines it into something else. The rest of SBI as aliens slowly realising Tommy has sentience is such a hard thing to write but the author does it in such a way that it's realistic (well as realistic as an alien fic can be) and not rushed with an easy fix-it-all solution

4. Whatever Remains, However Improbable by 7CxRhyeby (completed) This fic was a fic I'm still yet to read anything similar to and I love I for that, Wilbur is a framed detective which suits him so much, the different povs are all so well written its just so *mwah*

5. FOIL v.) [something considered wrong or undesirable] from succeeding by MistBorn_SprenDeath (one shot) ok this one is very short compared to the others but its wonderful, Tommy is blind, vampire SBI are dicks, BUT, Tommy is not compliant or complacent, he is smart and philosophical and doesn’t roll over to be babied and I love that for him. Please read this if you have 5 minutes its so worth it.

6. Vibrations by celestialwarden [completed] I don’t read many canon based fics, I’m more of an AU gal but this fic is an exception, and by that I mean its exceptionally well written. Tommy goes on a healing arc, gets a child, gets a Sean (we stan Sean) what else could you need? It has some heartbreaking angst and reunions, also some terrifying cliff hangers, but it all turns out well in the end. Just keep reminding yourself that especially towards the second half of the fic. You’ll need to.

7. The Case of the Fire Inside by trying_to_spell_both_our_names_at_once [ongoing] Whenever the author replies to a comment I left on the most recent chapter of this fic I immediately put down whatever I’m doing cause that usually means a new chapter is coming out. This fic is so unique, Selkie!Tommy and lighthouse keeper W, T, & P,  Evil bastard dream but older brother dream and its so sweet bcs Tommy is friends with SBI as a seal but also a human but its also so sad cause DREAM dbshbvhdj I love this fic pls read it.

8. Kings To You by Flustered [ongoing] as I mentioned earlier I’m not a huge fan of dark SBI but Tommy in this is just? so? cool? From the first chapter he is so badass, continuously does the impossible (I won’t state his feats cause spoilesrs but he is so cool) and when Techno goes all dark and possessive he’s like ‘fine, you want to make me “yours” well then your mine as well bitch’ He literally just goes “same” when Techno is doing his whole piglin bonding thing. Did I mention he’s badass? He is so badass

9. Diasporas Blue by SilverWing15 [completed] Werewolf Tommy is so perfect always, and SilverWing is such a wonderful writer this fic is just perfect. Its soft and fluffy but everyone is also oblivious idiots, sometimes you just need that hurt/comfort with a little bit of fantasy found family.

10. Blood Brothers (Blood God!Tommy AU) by lockergirl [ongoing series] Tommy (blood gods) just goes and yoinks a select few people that eventually become his family and I love it. This AU is so perfect, I love that the way he meets each SBI member is unique for each of them, its bloody hilarious when everyone thinks Techno is the blood god, plus the way he actively hates blood sacrifices so he befriends Techno when he sacrifices a fucking baked potato and that just becomes a thing from then on. This fic has angst but its also really funny at times, Tommy can be an oblivious mess but he means well

Human Error series by teeth_eater - Alright, first up we have the Human Error series! This series uses the "humans are space orcs trope" in that Tommy is a human stowaway on an alien ship run by SBI. Hijinks and angst ensue. 

Questions for Ada series by SilverWing15 - Aka that one fic series in which Tommy is a werewolf who so happens to go through the foster system. He's placed into the SBI household and tries to keep his werewolf stuff a secret.

when the wolf comes home by ThatWeirdGuyInTheBushes - Clingy Duo oneshot of after the New L'Manberg explosion.

Dollhouse by Lacy_Star - Holy frick Cam can I not recommend this one enough. It's fic in which the premise is that Dream locks everyone inside Pandora's Vault so they can all be one big happy family again. It's absolutely chilling and lowkey horrifying in which some of the characters behave towards their new predicament. 10/10, leaves a pit of dread in your chest afterwards.

that's it, it's split (it won't recover) by Jk_Kat - Tommy is revived and gets addicted to being dead after seeing all the new changes to the server. Angsty but with a happy ending, I love it.

keep you warm and safe by always_an_anxious_mess - Bench Trio fluff + WingInnit = Very fluffy preening scene. 

dissonance by shrugofgod - Tubbo centric fic that can kinda act as a character study. Deals with him processing his trauma.

Adagio by eneli - Another one I absolutely adore. I enjoy most works by eneli in general, they're an amazing writer. But anyways, this fic is a modern setting AU with coming of age Tommy and his new friend Tubbo. Focuses a lot on Tommy's relationship with SBI and Tubbo. I must warn you however, if you choose to read the rest of eneli's fics you'll notice a certain trend with them (not bad, just ohohohoho).

As for another work by this author I recommend TommyInnit's unbeatable method of avoiding sudden death. Vigilante Tommy crack fic. So much crack. So much humor. Made me cackle several times while reading.

Saturday's at the Diner by justsummr - SBI foster family focused fic (surprise surprise, you can tell what fics I highly enjoy). Wilbur, Techno and Phil own a family diner in which Tommy starts visiting pretty often. Very heartwarming fic, I adore it.

where did my courage go (I think I left it under the rubble) by violet_sunflowers - Ah the vigilante fics I read. This is one of them and focuses on Vigilante Bench Trio + Superhero SBI (Phil, Wilbur and Techno). 

Saturday series by ScumbagSimon - Another vigilante fic series. The first book focuses on Vigilante Tommy and Bench Trio, in which Tommy gets into encounters with Villain Dream Team and Superhero SBI. The second book is more Ranboo centric with Villain BBH + Crimson.

Bee & Boo & Michael (and sometimes Tommy) series by Doodlebloo - Ah the series which I go to ignore canon. Heavily Bee Duo centric with lots of fluff and a bit of angst. 

Casualty and Consequence by skyestar7703 - The SMP is a hellhole Tommy, Tubbo, Ranboo and Purpled are the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Literally.

On another note, definitely check out the Living in the Circular series by the same author. This one has certain DSMP characters going through multiple "loops" and basically serves as a fic in which they go into several pieces of media and AUs possible.

east of eden series by subwaywalls - Holy shit Cam. This is another one I can't recommend enough, the description is beautiful and this series left me with a bittersweet numb ache after reading it. One of those fics that made me cry. It's an SBI foster family fic in which Phil is the equivalent to a biblically accurate angel, and Wilbur, Techno, Tommy and Tubbo are different magical beings. 10/10, I love to reread it.

ad astra per aspera series by cacowhistle - From difficulty to the stars. It's a canon divergent fic set near exile time in which Bedrock Bros heal together and more characters join in on healing. I very much adore this series.

I was a kid in the village, doing alright, then I became a prince overnight by sircantus - Phil's a king, Techno and Wilbur are princes and Tommy's an orphan who gets adopted into the royal family. Hijinks galore.

Another fic by the same author I like is Change fate by being aggressively kind. Phil's an avian in a world where avians are rare, Techno, Wilbur and Tommy are the Minecraft equivalents of the Antichrist. Cue Phil having another way to stop the apocalypse without murdering the children.

Honeycomb by khaoticwoes - Tangled AU in which Tubbo is Rapunzel, Tommy is Flynn and Dream is Gothel. Tommy's just accidentally caused crime towards King Phil, and we also have Sapnap and George as criminal brothers to Tommy.

Stream Labs LIVE by A_Non_ymousWriter - AU in which there's an ARG surrounding genius teen scientist Tubbo that is very highly produced. Turns out this ARG isn't an ARG an everything is happening in a fantasy world parallel to the modern one. I recommend other works from this author as well.

We'll (Ender)walk this long road together by Ravivkit - Bee Duo centric fic in which Enderwalk Ranboo cares about Tubbo very much, but Ranboo is unaware and afraid of it. Cue lots of fluff but also some angst.

Loss brings people together, however — Tubbo and Ranboo were adamant that they needed to keep him alive, if only for a chance at healing and redemption. So Wilbur tried his best; he learnt to live, for Tommy, and one day maybe he’d even learn to live for himself.

Meanwhile, he might or might not be haunted by Tommy’s ghost.

“Oh, no.” Phil raises his eyes with a sharp glare. “Believe me, I have my own way of preventing the apocalypse.”

Or, Techno, Wilbur, and Tommy are basically chaotic forces of nature, destined from birth to end the world and bring destruction. Most who hear of the tale of them are trying their best to track them down, and to end the monsters while they’re still young, still just children.

Phil has a different plan.

(In which Phil raises the minecraft equivalents of the anti-christ with love and support, so much so to the point where the world ending is really just a funny thought, and Phil has three kids who casually have powers that are bit more extreme than anything else in the world)

WEREWOLF SBI AU

You know what I noticed yall? There’s a ton of Vampire SBI AUs and somehow somehow there is barely any Werewolf SBI AUs. 

How can this be? 

Yes covens are cool and all but think about it. Think about the pack and pack dynamics. There’s both angst and fluff potential yall so so much.  Imagine Tommy killing an animal for the first time and freaking out and then Techno just coming in to comfort him by shifting into a wolf and cuddling him. imagine.

Tommy is perfectly fine. Yup just perfectly fine. There's nothing wrong at all. Not the taste of metal in his mouth and the blood on his paws. This is normal, he's a werewolf, hunting is normal. He just took a life of a living creature, but it was necessary. There's no need to freak out right?

Tommy sits there in his wolf form, frozen, as he stares at the corpse of the rabbit he had just caught. 

A lick to his muzzle snaps him out of his stupor. It was Technoblade. 

Strange. Techno never shifts into his wolf form unless it’s to hunt. Tommy lets out a questioning whine. 

Techno huffed and continued licking him. The bigger wolf moved his body until it was completely covering Tommy’s. 

Oh. Technoblade was cuddling him

Imagine Wilbur always having been a lone wolf and howling at the full moon hoping for a response but knowing he’s never going to get one, until one day he does. 

Wilbur has always loved the nights where the full moon was out. He supposes every wolf loved nights like these. There was something about the moon, about the silence in the air, that gets all their blood rushing, that demands them to run and hunt and play with pack.  Except Wilbur doesn’t have any pack. It’s been this way for as long as he could remember. He has always been alone.  So instead, on the night of the full moon where one would normally run with their pack, Wilbur sings to the moon.  He serenades it with his howls, translating human tunes into the rough growls and pitches of wolf. He howls to the moon, wishing for it to hear him, for anyone to hear him, for someone to respond even when he knows it will never happen.  He is right.  He did not get a response.  He got several. 

And of course the angst duh? Imagine Techno having a harder time than most controlling his wolf side when he shifts and the problems that occurs because of it. 

Technoblade has always had a hard time controlling his wolf side when he shifts. The smell of blood in the air, the thrill of the hunt, the chase of his prey, makes it easy to lose sight of his human side. He thought he had it handled, thought he could control it. Until he comes back to awareness on one of his hunt to blood in his mouth and the sight of Tommy right below him, leg bleeding. He had bitten Tommy. He is a danger to them. He has to leave. He has to go. He has to abandon his pack

and a beater in quidditch team

teaches potions techno's fav class who also took alchemy in sixth year cus of this

gives techno extra private lessons

sees him as son

Ranboo he's also hufflepuff sixth year

has giant blood (around 1/5 maybe)

took ancient runes in third year and loves it

has weird family of magical creatures to the point they're really weirdly mixed

they have human disguises tho so no one knows

except Techno

that was accident- Ranboo was sleepwalking and Techno was in his piglin form in forest

they stumbled into each other

this was when Techno was in fourth year and Ranboo in thrid

Ranboo is friends with Tubbo and Tommy obv

He has told them about his other form and memory problems and Techno pig problem

they started training to become animagi to make animal therapy

Dream duels with Techno a lot

they absolutely hate each other, can’t even be in the same room without an urge to punch one another

Tommy was following Sapnap because arson is cool and saw him with Dream

Spirit Dream AU. Dream is a ghost and all thats visible is his mask. Sapnap moves into the apartment Dream haunts and instead of freaking out is like “oh, cool” cause he’s used to seeing ghosts. "You know I'm not a werewolf, right?"

The man bared his teeth in response, sharp incisors betraying his own inhuman nature. "Bullshit!" he spat. "You have the smell of your pack all over you."

Techno shrugged. "Yeah, they're the cuddly types. That doesn't mean I'm a werewolf though."

"Shut up." The man grabbed his hair, pinpricks of pain across Techno's scalp made him wince. They dragged him closer and put the silver knife to his throat, pressing it into his skin. Techno hissed, but only because the blade was sharp enough to immediately draw blood. Not because the silver had any kind of effect on him like the man seemed to expect it to.

Because Techno really wasn't a werewolf. He was just an average human.

His family, on the other hand.

"You shouldn't have done that," Techno said. The man was a werewolf himself, from a rival pack. His scent would be hard for the others to track. But now, he had spilled Techno's blood.

And that was a mistake he wouldn't be able to outlive. Phil was the first on the scene. Techno made eye contact with ice blue irises a moment before the wolf lunged, teeth sinking into the man's jugular. His arms fell away and Techno stumbled, but Wilbur was in front of him before he could hit the ground.

His fingers tangled into dark brown fur to push himself up. He didn't really get a chance to right himself before Tommy was jumping against him though, placing his paws on his shoulders. He nuzzled into Techno's neck, licking at the cut slightly in worry.

It stung at first, but then the healing set in.

"I'm fine," Techno assured him, pushing him off. Tommy barked and nudged his chest in response.

"Don't stray so far next time," Phil said. He'd turned back to his human form, though his face and hands were still covered in blood. "We could have lost you."

Phil always got so testy in his worry. After this, Techno probably wouldn't be allowed to leave their nest for a whole week. Stupid werewolves and their stupid protective instincts.

"In my defense, I didn't expect another werewolf to jump me," he said. "He thought I was the runt of our pack or something like that."

"You are," Wilbur said behind him. He reached out and wound his arms around Techno's neck, pulling Techno back against his chest into a sort of embrace that felt more possessive than affectionate. He could be even worse than Phil when he was worried. It was Techno's own fault for leaving their sight, he supposed.

He should know better after being theirs for months already.

"I'm not even a werewolf," he said.

Tommy scoffed. He pushed into Techno's side, looking up at him with dangerously slit pupils. "So?"

"So I can't be the runt. I'm a human."

"You're our human," Wilbur corrected immediately.

Tommy nodded. "And you're definitely our runt."

"You guys are insufferable."

He knew better than to keep protesting. This wouldn't be the hill for him to die on.

Techno didn't look at the gory patch of flesh and blood that had been a man three minutes ago as he got up, letting his family lead the way home.

that one AU I have where techno is a human and the rest of SBI is werewolves. Tommy is bragging about his cool werewolf powers and how he's totally a big man and so much better than Techno and Techno just holds up two balls like "can you tell me which one is green and which one is red?"

Seriously though, this would be very fun to do with that werewolf trope where they’re basically wolf shapeshifters at will (though the moon phases still have effects on them, they don’t just become a wolf once a month). Techno stays in his wolf form almost 24/7 due to trauma and has been living in the wild and SBI somehow mistake him for a big husky or some other dog breed that just look like a wolf. They take him in and while it’s rocky at first, Techno’s fondness and trust for them grows, slowly allowing Techno to see them as his packmates and eventually he even becomes comfortable enough to shift back into a human for the first time in years.

Imagine Wilbur coming down for a 2 am snack and Techno is just sitting on the couch with nothing but a blanket wrapped around him like “yo whatup”

LET ME HEAR THE WEREWOLF TECHNO AUS!!!!

It's more werewolf AUs in general (ie sometimes Techno is the human, as a treat) and most of them are only vibes/concepts but since I do love rambling and getting asks, here ya go!

What I posted last night was a variant of 'Techno as the only human getting adopted in a werewolf pack'. This can come with or without dark sbi flavoring - personally leaning towards adding it though it's an extremely light version of dark sbi. I'm just very fond of protective and possessive instinct stuff and if Techno is the one human in the pack it would make sense for his werewolf family to be a bit extra about that. If that's not your cup of tea, it works as a regular hurt/comfort AU too.

Then there's the reverse: werewolf!Techno getting found and adopted by humans? I'm imagining Techno as a lone wolf without a pack and he gets hurt and stumbles upon human!SBI living their best cottagecore life out in the forest. They decide to take him in and help him because they're cool like that. Something like what I described here.

Alternatively, this idea can be made SUPER whumpy if instead of Techno getting hurt normally, he was captured by hunters and got really messed up. Maybe even kept as a pet or a guard dog if u wanna throw some delicious dehumanization and trauma in there? That's my jam!

And there's also the 'opposite scenario, same result' idea I thought of: human Techno finds werewolf SBI who have been caught by hunters and are basically kept like animals. He frees them and inadvertently ends up with them projecting on him as their new 'owner' and Techno now has this fiercely loyal pack of werewolves that would kill people for looking at him wrong.

Lastly, there's also the configuration of 'they're all werewolves'. Again, maybe something where Techno is a lone wolf and ends up in SBI territory? Or it'd be fun to play with Techno who is a newly turned werewolf so he has no idea how anything is supposed to work and is going through it BAD until SBI helps him. (Maybe he used to be a hunter and was bitten while on the job, to make things extra dramatic hmmm)
