there is something i find inherently fun and interesting about an unethical power gap relationship where the lower down person is the initiator in a random feat of courage and the higher up feels insanely guilty for reciprocating but does it anyway because well they asked.... then they're BOTH complicit.. the drama and conflict and craziness of that <3

Moondrop: Corey Wilder’s Moon voice is the closest I can describe it (very close to the canon voice but not as guttural and with less pitch fluctuations. This is not the gremlin Moon doing cartwheels and somersaults, this Moon works a 9 to 5.)

Moonie: None, he is mute (at most, i imagine him and chibi Sunny to make those anime creature noises when they hop around stuff.)

Mooncake: Nick Pitera (a lover of fairy tales and romance, he has the voice of a Broadway lead. When he was a daycare attendant, he enjoyed singing showtunes with the kids, singing the parts for the hero, the princess, the sidekick, and even the villain.)

Lune: HWASA (but wait... isn't this Echo's voice?—a breathy, sultry voice that once belted harmonies and solos for adoring fans. Now she lends her voice to hum a soft tune, the only part of her now that graces the present day.)

13: Henry Huo (enigmatic, serene and haunting; light as a breeze passing through the branches of an osmanthus tree yet as all-encompassing as the night sky. Before he escaped the palace, this lonely moon would often sing to himself if only to imagine the echoes were the sounds of his companions beyond four walls of his confinement.)

Miel: Moonbyul (melodic raps and vocals that range from soft to sharp. When this moon was remodeled into a nanny bot, she was designed to be sweet as honey. It wasn't until she was discovered by an ex-Sun bot, when she learned to create a voice for herself.)

Seli: Chogakusei (a deceivingly soft voice gives way to sharp yelps and low growls. Often quiet, this moon expresses his tumultuous emotions through song.)

People talked about how delightful the active lore delivery is in VG but there's one aspect of that conversation that I don't see pointed out much: it's not just more engaging to get lore drops "on the go", it also makes sense from the point of plot relevance.

My first "well done!" is that companion missions come in slowly. You recruit them in the order that they are needed and it's a logical one. You're urged to look for newer and newer sources of help as you encounter newer aspects of the problem you're dealing with. You're literally on a trail -> find a detective. Something needs killing -> get an assassin. You're dealing with ancient elven magic -> look for a Dalish artifact expert. There's some new fucked up blight -> recruit a Grey Warden. Dragons are an active danger -> find a dragon hunter. Your entire mission has to deal with the Veil and the Fade -> hire a Fade expert. They make sense.

If you ignore your companions and their missions, you lose a lot of important (personally or overall) lore drops and you risk losing all of your companions and your MC in the final battle. You come into the plot blind and run through it in a hasty way -> you are not going to get a ton of perspective and you are going to end up with less than you could have. And those perspectives matter because each companion is a side of a multi-facet prism that is the game's conflict.

This is an aspect of companion importance to the plot that I don't feel is appreciated enough: they aren't just narratively tied into a lovely tapestry. They all offer perspectives and value that will affect your degree of familiarity with the lore if you choose to ignore it; and have a consequence of you potentially losing that companion or more.

in ur dragon fight drawing, one of the dragon has a hole torn in its wing, would that be a debilitating injury in this world? how are riders and dragons with disabilities treated?

i have to say the wing heals up easily enough (otherwise their dragon attrition rate would be terrible... that's one way they can't be like planes lol). i think a hit through the wing would be an 'i yield' moment in battle where the victim bows out of the fight. a skirmish is p.much guaranteed to result in injuries and potentially deaths, and some airbases might have a policy of not taking 'i yield' as sign to stop attacking. it's rare though, there's a kind of honour system in place in a skirmish because you might have to count on those other people as allies at some point, and the goal is to secure control in the airspace, not kill or rout the enemy.

each airbase is essentially its own little militia (i think of it like a huge warship with hundreds onboard) with its own culture. if you can recover from your wounds, great, you go back into the line of duty. if you're unable to do that then you retire. dragons are treated better than humans in general but that often extends a shield over the riders who are considered the public faces of their dragons. if the dragon is grounded they can still teach and still do radio work, and that means the human sticks around to facilitate this. if the human is injured and can no longer fly skirmishes then treatment depends on their rank & the rank of their dragon. at the lowest ranks, you might not get much by way of assistance or quality of life. in the airbase you can specialise into tasks which can be done as desk jobs - drawing charts, weather-fronts, managing the provisions, stuff like that. but it's entirely up to the dragon whether or not another rider replaces you in the saddle.

if you truly cannot work again it's also up to your dragon to advocate on your behalf. not every airbase culture facilitates this. as with many things in life, your continued survival may rely on being on good terms with the higher ups, winning a matriarch's favour, or being generally liked.

tangential but the overall culture i'm imagining is (barring the radio technology and somewhat early-1900s aesthetic) relatively feudal, a hundred small holders and lords with no central ruling structure. rank is usually determined by bloodline (imagine open candidacy to ride for small dragon classes, closed for the more "important" ones, etc. that way we can get some Controversy and Drama... court intrigue even...). so relating back to the ask, if you happen to be born important, you needn't ever worry about your future at the airbase, even if you are disabled in the line of duty.

Feral for eddie cause fact that I giggle and kick my feet whenever Eddie come up my screen is a little scary for me cause I feel insane.

Anyways a thought, I feel like Eddie would be such an amazing yearner like??? Eddie just realizing that maybe he is in love, but he doesn't want to acknowledge it so he's in denial and push it away, far away, to the depths of his core only for it to resurface into his chest with a pang when he sees their smile or remembers it (he thinks it's a heart attack or a panic attack at some point). Also he wants to be near them, but he doesn't want to acknowledge his feelings, he would try his best to sit next to them and stand next to them so his shoulders or hips can just slightly graze theirs. At this point, Eddie is already head over heels but deep in denial, whenever he sees you, his eyes tail you quietly. the thing is, the crew notices, but they stay quiet cause they have a bet going on. How long does Eddie stay quiet before he goes insane??? Buck bets on a few more months, Hen agrees, but Chimney and Bobby think it's lesser than that.

And you know what, Bobby and Chimney wins, cause a few weeks after that Eddie goes to your house to confront you cause you've been avoiding him apparently. He notices and he's freaking out a little cause what do you mean you can't hang out with me? Usually you're okay to hang whenever, but the past few weeks, you've been saying no. You're out here confused like 🧍. You were busy with work and maybe, a tad bit, you're avoiding him cause you might also be in love with him, but you want to keep it normal, so you made sure you're slowly creating this boundary with him. Ever so slightly, unfortunately for you, he's kinda down bad for you, so he notices when you pull away.

Both of you go back and forth, you denying, him pressing the matter. You get tired of it so you ask him to just go home and actually have the conversation some other day when he's stops acting weird (gaslighting at best omg 😔). And he gets angry and blurts maybe I care cause I love you omg why do you think I would even care about all this? and you're once again 🧍👁️👄👁️, caught off guard by what's he's saying. And he's staring at you with his sad brown Disney princess eyes. He slowly approaches you and holds your face in his hands and kisses you.

Anyways, it's a happy ending. I'M SORRY THIS IS LONG?????? ignore it if you'd like 💖 I HOPE YOU HAVE A NICE DAY AND WEEKEND 💗. Will be going into my cave now.
