How do you get out of a reading slump??

Reading slumps are not very fun.

I think I'm in a fantasy slump. I'm in the middle of 4.

So I decided to get out of that genre and get into some romance. It has helped and I completed these 2 books in 3 days.

I liked It Happened One Summer a lot more than Fix Her Up.

I didn't read the reviews going in so I was kind of shocked by the very smutty scenes.

Now I know, Tessa Bailey writes very smutty books.

My main focus now is going to be finishing the book club pick, Hotel Magnifique. I couldn't focus on reading so I'm listening to the audiobook. There has already been some opinions on this book and I can't wait for the live show discussion. 👁🥛

It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey

Brendan is a regimented fish captain based in the small town of Westport. Piper is a spoiled rich party girl with a bad love track record and a lot worse life track record. These two collide in the best possible way when a party gone wrong finds Piper and her sister exiled to Westport for a few weeks to learn some responsibility and do some soul searching by their step father. Will they be able to reconcile their differences and find a way to be happy together?

This was really good! A great enemies to lovers trope that I can’t resist intertwined with a charming, self development storyline. My only small complaint would be Brendan comes across as more than a little sexist a few times. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and found myself picturing Westport and wishing I could visit!

#BookReview It Happened One Summer (Bellinger Sisters #1) by Tessa Bailey ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 #ItHappenedOneSummer is amazing, entertaining, very hot and sexy romance that follows LA socialite, Piper, being sent to a small fisherman’s town, Westport, as a punishment to learn responsibility by running her late father’s dive bar but unexpectedly she finds herself getting connected to her roots and falling for not just the town but grumpy bearded sea captain. The story is about self-discovery, connecting with roots, belongingness, trust, faith, and love. I didn’t exactly like Piper in first few chapters but as story progressed we see many layers in her character and then it’s hard not to love her. What I loved most is it’s not just Piper who developed in this story but also Braden. Supporting characters are also amazing. Hanna and Fox are my favorite. I also loved the sibling relationship. Romance is super sexy, hot, and swoon-worthy and so so perfect. It is well balanced with rest of the story. It’s not just sexy scenes that are in abundance but also emotions, hilarious moments, lovely and romantic moments, and many surprises not like twist and turns but more like characters surprising me. Overall, this is delightful, fun, touching, and swoon-worthy romance with lots of emotions and hot sexy scenes. Pazar gününüz nasıl geçiyor? Benimkisi bolca antibiyotikli, zencefil-karanfil çaylı. Yatağından içinden, önceden çektiğim kitap fotoğraflarını kurcalamaya devam. Dün hikayede bu kitap serisinden söz etmiştim, paylaşma vakti gelmiş.

Kitabın romantik bir komedi olduğunu söylemekle başlayayım. Piper isimli ana karakterimiz, bir parti kızı ve hafife alınan bir karakteri var. Şehirli kızımız, büyük bir skandala karışınca üvey babası tarafından küçük bir sahil kasabasına gönderiliyor. (Aklını başına toplaması ve biraz büyümesi için.) Burada başlangıçta nefret edeceği, kaptan Brandon'la tanışıyor ve olaylar gelişiyor. Kitapla ilgili sevdiğim şey, gerçekten komik olması. Diyalogları okurken kendimi sırıtırken hatta kahkaha atarken buldum. Bir romantik kitaptan bekleyebileceğimiz her şeyi karşılıyor ve sizi çok tatlı bir mutlu sonla karşılaştırıp yüreğinizi sıcacık yapıyor.

★ How is everyone doing? I thought today we could comment with recent reads that we loved, that we’d like to recommend to others! Comment with some of your recent faves!    I’ve been feeling a little mentally and emotionally exhausted this week, but I recently finished reading eARCs of Electric Idol by @katee_robert and Hook, Line, and Sinker by @tessabaileyisanauthor, and I feel like they were exactly what I needed to help my mood. I loved the way both touch upon meaningful subjects beyond the romance, particularly body image in Electric Idol, and imposter syndrome and worthiness in Hook, Line, and Sinker. Of course, both are extra 🌶🌶🌶 too!  ����   They both come out in 2022, but I definitely recommend adding them to your TBRs now, and reading the first books in their respective series, Neon Gods & It Happened One Summer, if you haven’t already! Neon Gods is a modern Hades & Persephone retelling, and It Happened One Summer is inspired by Schitt’s Creek! These four books have been some of my favorite reads of the year.
