Ithaka

As you set out for Ithaka hope your road is a long one, full of adventure, full of discovery. Laistrygonians, Cyclops, angry Poseidon—don’t be afraid of them: you’ll never find things like that on your way as long as you keep your thoughts raised high, as long as a rare excitement stirs your spirit and your body. Laistrygonians, Cyclops, wild Poseidon—you won’t encounter them unless you bring them along inside your soul, unless your soul sets them up in front of you.

Hope your road is a long one. May there be many summer mornings when, with what pleasure, what joy, you enter harbors you’re seeing for the first time; may you stop at Phoenician trading stations to buy fine things, mother of pearl and coral, amber and ebony, sensual perfume of every kind— as many sensual perfumes as you can; and may you visit many Egyptian cities to learn and go on learning from their scholars.

Keep Ithaka always in your mind. Arriving there is what you’re destined for. But don’t hurry the journey at all. Better if it lasts for years, so you’re old by the time you reach the island, wealthy with all you’ve gained on the way, not expecting Ithaka to make you rich.

Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey. Without her you wouldn't have set out. She has nothing left to give you now.

And if you find her poor, Ithaka won’t have fooled you. Wise as you will have become, so full of experience, you’ll have understood by then what these Ithakas mean.

If I Dm'd epic the musical

Odysseus final line in "remember them" is far too epic to only punish. Don't get me wrong, this is in-canon far too stupid, and cannot be left to be as it is.

But it needs to have a tiny reward

For example, imagine if aeolus had guards to her island. And they said "you cannot enter aeolus' palace if you aren't specifically invited, what's your name, puny hero?"

"I am Odysseus"

G1: "You are not invited odyse-"

G2, terrified: "Odysseus, the king of ithika"

A sound of an owl is heard at the distance

Odysseus hardens his face, and smirks: "him"

G2 to G1, whispering: "I am not standing in the way of Odysseus."

G1: "but"

G2: "no but, you heard what aeolus said, the ipeas called him the cyclop blinder, we are not doing this", returns to normal speaking "my friend had made a mistake, Odysseus, you are more than welcome"

Then, when Poseidon the horse man (ipeas) gets to ruthlessness... It's much more epic

(this obviously doesn't work with the themes of the musical, just a thought I had)

I read some dialogue form Zultanek and I want to post it here for you all to enjoy because everything he says and does is, ahem,Solid Gold.

But then i'd just have a post where it's everything he's said in the book and that's no good.

So far, The twice-Dead King: Reign is proving to be a much better story than Ruin, which was a whole book of setup. That's fine! I'm very much guilty of that with The Corpse & the Spider but I'm not sure you lose out on that much if you were to just pickup Reign. Even if it's just to hang out with Zultanekh.

"From whom has the Dynast of Ithakas learned to pace with such impatience?" queried Zultanekh in a tone of mock awe, prompting a rumble of irritation from Oltyx. A hard-scry projection of the casket-broad prince stood casually beside his throne, where it had clearly been watching him for some time, and strode towards him now. "A master of the art, clearly. It is a good habit for Scions, waiting. But is it a worthy pastime for Kings? Zultanekh thinks not."

"What else can I do, copperclad?" snapped Oltyx, in no mood for the giant's games.

"Has it occured to you, Oltyx King, that a Dynast may do whatever he wishes to do?"

"What in the name of the Triarch do you mean, Zultankeh?"

"What do you wish to do, Oltyx?"

"I wish to fight!" shouted the Dynast of Ithikas, oculars flaring with indignance, and Zultanekh roared approvingly.

"Now he understands! So, Dynast of Ithikas, what are you waiting for?"

Looking at it, at her, caught within the cage of her ribs Sullivan’s heart throbbed and clenched wildly. A Vanthion. A living one. Not the hollowed out skeletons strung up in museums like halloween props, or the diagrams she found in North Ithika’s Grand Library. She had skin and wiry muscle bound to long, dense bones.

[2/3] Chapter 3 Async Event | N̵O̶ ̷S̴I̷G̸N̸A̴L̶

There's a brief moment of uneasy silence as Encke stares you down. Where were the ciphers taken? Are they okay? What do you do?

Panic threatens to rise. But then a low humming sound begins to rise above the static, consolidating the discordant noise into a single tone. Just the feeling of it resonating through your chest threatens to put you at an unnatural calm.

A second cryptic seems to manifest almost above you, and as it does the sky flickers into the colors of a television screen all across the basin. It doesn't scream or cry as it faces Encke down-- just stares, knowingly, at its twin, with censored eyes that can't be seen.

Atmospheric pressure washes over you as resonance and dissonance crash into each other in the air between the two polarizing cryptics, the force of each one enough to keep the other in a standstill.
