That fading spotlight before curtain for intermission with just Ella's face in view is so beautiful and haunting. What an epic close to Act I.

Also, it seems like this was also a strategic way to imply Ella's outfit being transformed there on stage during the song without actually having to do the tricky costume designing quick-change theater miracles of an ACTUAL outfit transformation. Which is really brilliant. Leave the audience to wonder until post-intermission about what Ella's starlight dress will look like.

cosplayed subz at vidcon baltimore yesterday! so cool! wow!

so first! i went in a group!

subz is me obviously, cellbit is my qpp elric (@rainy-day-wizard), and grian is my younger sister (@lepa-frog). least cohesive group of cosplayers ever. tho there ARE connections! i cosplayed a guy with moon symbolism and lepa cosplayed a guy with sun symbolism! so we are like moon and sun! cool! and me and elric both hit our guys with the catboyification beams.

wearing all those headbands was hell btw. the horns were separate sets so there were two diff elastoc strings digging into my skull. AND the cat ear headband. anyway i saw cosplayers there who used headbands to have gamertags floating above their heads and i wanna do that next time. the suffering isnt enough i need four headbands. more realisticly i will probably attach it to the cat ear one but upgrading to four would be funnier.

also those horns give me enough gender euphoria to rival wearing a binder

stuff i made for this: painted the pattern on the glove and the big horns, sewed the shoulder scale things onto the coat(they were already in the triangles when i got them, i just attached them to the coat), made the button and chain thing on the coat, made and eclipse federation flag which i attached to the back of the coat, made lepas wing headband, and made the whole shirt thing. whatever its called. i sewed all that.

was up till ~3am the night before vidcon dyeing the streak in my hair, and then up till 1am the next night watching subz's first stream back from his vacation. doing soo well on sleep rn. gonna be up late tonight doing homework probably

only got one day tickets cause i got other shit to do, couldnt spend a whole weekend on this.

was super fun tho! ran into sooooo many cosplayers. one person recognized me as "that guy from lifesteal" which is more than i was expecting! 3 people asked if i was the enderdragon and one asked if i was docm77. tbh i get it, they both got the big horns, the funky shit going on with one arm and side of the face, and both got the tits out look. i could not accurately recreate the tits out look because i would have been charged with public indecency.

anyway i think like half the population of cosplayers were ranboos and technos. had to rehabilitate an especially large group at one point who were not being super considerate of other congoers 😔 was still fun to see all the people tho! also ran into some cranboos who i recognized from tumblr which was wild, those two and their friends were really cool!!

also one of the ranbs mentioned divorce papers and now im so sad i didnt think to make eclipse federation divorce papers :( would have been the best prop ever

con itself was a little mid, wasnt a lot to do, but the experience was super fun, so im glad i went

💫 favorite Sonic game(s) in terms of aesthetic <3

I guess The Aesthetic Guy has become one of my calling cards next to The Green Horsie Guy and The Eggman Guy That Hates Eggdad, huh? Well, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Unfortunately and/or fortunately, there's a lot of Sonic games with top tier aesthetics, which makes it very hard for me to narrow them down. Most games in the series have at least a winner or two: SA2 has the pyramid and A.R.K. levels. Unleashed has Eggmanland and Jungle Joyride. '06 has Kingdom Valley. Black Knight has Misty Lake. Secret Rings has Sand Oasis and Night Palace. Rush has Water Palace and Mirage Road. Rush Adventure has Coral Cave, Sky Babylon, and Pirates' Island. 3D Blast has Rusty Ruin and Volcano Valley. ShtH has more than you'd expect for a game like it, such as Digital Circuit and Circus Park. Even the Rivals duology has a couple of good ones. But if I must decide on a personal top ten for which games I consider to have the most consistently strong aesthetics, then in chronological order...

The Genesis games. They started things off, so they had to establish Sonic's world as a fascinating one. Well it worked for me when I played them on Mega Collection back in '03. Despite playing Advance 2 first, I never thought these ones were uncool by comparison. I loved Marble Zone's juxtaposition of the grassy outdoors with the lava temple. I loved how opulent Casino Night's lights were to offset the night. I loved how funky and quasi-Arabic in architecture Launch Base was. I loved how the already ominous background in Death Egg Act 1 doesn't even move, subtly emphasizing just how massive the spaceship truly is. Even when they had to reuse assets to cobble together a zone, it still looked great!

Sonic CD. I already love the visual storytelling in the game as is, and its aesthetics make me love it even more. My favourites tend to be the Pasts for how they get away with being no less pleasing in spite of their intentionally murkier palettes (I too adore the sunset canyon of Wacky Workbench), and the Good Futures for how unashamedly loud and proud they are, including the way they show nature and technology working together. They're all so good. (Also, shout out to Chaotix for having a similar vibe, even if it can sometimes be hard to tell what you're looking at cause of how trippy it is lol. It's like the physical manifestation of the 90's.)

Sonic R. The neanderthal "I wish Sonic R had more than five courses so the game was longer" VS the intellectual "I wish Sonic R had more than five courses so there were more for me to stop and gawk at".

SA1. Lost World is so pretty. Twinkle Park is so pretty. The At Dawn section of Speed Highway is so pretty. The cave in Ice Cap is so pretty. Beta Windy Valley is so pretty. Red Mountain is pretty from a certain point of view. SA1 may have started the focus on "realism", but it never felt anywhere near as in-your-face as some of the later games that indulged in it. Not just because there were plenty of more whimsical environments to balance it out, but also because even the grounded ones still had an equal amount of colours and fancy Dreamcast lighting trickery. Hell, Final Egg is meant to be a gritty, grungy kind of Eggman base, and it is, yet it still manages to be as visually interesting to look at as the other stages. I can't really say that about Crisis City, or the islands in Frontiers.

The Advance trilogy. C'mon, you know I love me some good pixel art, so I'm never going to stop gushing over how gorgeous Ice Mountain and Twinkle Snow are, or how cool Techno Base is, or how upbeat Music Plant is, or how striking Chaos Angel is, or how-

Heroes. People always say this game had some of the most Genesis-style environments in a 3D installment, and I definitely don't disagree with that. Because of this, it has a very similar appeal to SA1, with levels like Grand Metropolis, Frog Forest, and Hang Castle most likely managing to fit in with the SA1 group without sticking out like a sore thumb. And it's a small detail, but I love how in Egg Fleet, the upper part of the skybox is completely clear. All the clouds are down below. It's a subtle thing, but it really goes a long way to emphasizing just how high up in the atmosphere you really are.

The Riders trilogy. Metal City has one of my favourite city aesthetics in the series. Gigan Rocks is like a more vibrant Dragon Road, and Gigan Device has a beautiful nighttime palette. Dark Desert's eclipse-induced darkness contrasts with the colorful circuitry during the indoor sections. Aquatic Capital is like a high-tech water park, with Tempest Waterway being the sort-of-Bad-Future equivalent that's still pretty in its own way. Digital Dimension is Digital Dimension. Even Crimson Crater, despite mostly consisting of greys and silvers, remains compelling due to how alien the landscape is. There were even some visual highlights in Free Riders despite being Free Riders, like the very first course, Dolphin Resort.

Colours. After Heroes, this game's environments are among the most Genesis, which you know at this point is always a plus in my book. Each of them have their own thing to say about Eggman's theme park and the man himself by extension, with the public announcements giving them even more personality. Aquarium Park is undisputedly my favourite of the lot, doubled by the catching red and blue contrast (and also because underwater tubes is one of those video game tropes that always captivates me; thank Roo's Tubes from CTR for starting that fascination).

Generations. This one's sort of cheating since it's just Old Levels DX: Director's Cut, but it deserves to be mentioned for its version of Sky Sanctuary alone. I really like Generations Sky Sanctuary...

Mania. The older levels have been remixed so heavily that they feel new regardless, and the twists it spins on the actual environment side of things is no exception, like the cavern in Green Hill, or the machinery in Lava Reef. But of course, the new levels are S-tier eye candy as well. I particularly love how Titanic Monarch manages to be dark and spooky while also having every colour under the rainbow at the same time, and the snowy forest backdrop of Press Garden is just... wonderful. <3

And although the game isn't out yet, Superstars looks like it'll be another consistent winner for me. While another Mania-esque pixel art game would have been really nice, I can accept the Sonic 4 But Better approach if it's like what we've seen so far.

You'll notice some running themes with my favourites. The obvious one is a generous amount of vibrancy and character, because no matter how bright or dark, good or evil, hopeful or hopeless the environment is meant to convey, it should never be boring. I also apparently get excited by technicolor stuff, because I never stopped being six years old. And if realism is a thing, I prefer it to be something that compliments an otherwise whimsical land, rather than be at the forefront and eclipsing all other attributes.

But I also like it when they get a bit ethereal, especially if it can provide a contrast with Eggman's handiwork. That's why I marvel at levels like Radiant Emerald, Night Palace, and basically everything in CD. As such, when writing for Stellar, I wanted to emphasize this aspect as a way to help Viridonia stand out as a setting compared to the likes of Station Square. (This was true for the original Beyond the Stars as well, but naturally I wanted to go even further with it after the transition.)

so in mhw that answer is really easy, my favourite Bois there are the bloodpuppy Odogaron and the b-52 bomber Bazelguese. bloodpuppy is just so much fun to fight with him not having any super annoying mechanics/attacks that ruin the fun and dealing high enough damage that he's still A Threat. B-52 I find really really funny that they have a guy that just shows up and starts doing fucking wwii carpet bombing shit while you're out minding your business, and again I find it really fun to fight

okay i don't know if you got asked this before, but what are the Ecrison kids starter Pokemon choices across the Pokemon games from the ones that started them all Red, Blue, (Green), or Yellow to the newest ones Violet and Scarlet. The hardest choice to make when you play any Pokemon game is to choose your starter Pokemon. Mine I bounce between fire types and water types. My first game was Pokemon Silver, and I choose Cyndaquil.

Always love a Pokemon ask! We decided to split this ask into different posts in sets of three just so that it doesn't become a crazy long post. So we'll start off with Clementine, Louis, and Violet and then post about the others throughout this week.

Gen 1: Charmander (It's basically a badass baby dragon. How could she not pick it?)

Those Pokémon gajinka are SO COOL. Darude is giving a lot of Beetlejuice energy to me. Jaunt's outfit is very cute. Actually all the outfits are great. I love the composition on Lone, drawing your eye to the gun. All his expressions are great. Is there a story behind that cracked sherriff's badge? I like Sadsack's punk/miner look with the funky shirt to add some fun, and styling the Pokemon's hair like a sweatshirt is a great way to translate the design over.

and thanks i was thinking about what moves theyd be using when it came to posing and with lone i was imagining him using disable. maybe he would strike a cool pose when fighting but i like the quick draw straight intimidating effortless sort of vibe for him. with his story i like to think lone used to be a sherrif but his drive to fight got him kicked outta town and now he rides the winds trying to find a suitable rival to sate his desires.

sad sacks design came from the fact i gave her a rocky helmet in game and i wanted to incorporate it into the design. this was even before i learned glimmora came From underground so that ended up inspiring its hiker/miner look. but also that shes fruity on the inside <3

jaunts oversized hoodie came from me not wanting to stick this funky tall dog in like a robe and i was trying to avoid dressing them up like a priest which was my first idea for them dksgsk. now their a rotting hippie kinda guy.

What’s ur favorite and least favorite bugsnax characters,,, I know you’ve said ur favorites but I’m curious to know more why those r ur favorites (and ofc what ur least faves r)

I think my favs are Filbo and Chandlo but i really like most of the characters, my least fav is Beffica easy. I Do Not Like Her At All.

I am not surprised i like Chandlo so much he is literally the Epitome of the characters im usually drawn to. Hes the stereotypical jock guy, hes nice to ppl and just wants to make friends, hes autistic, hes a himbo, he wants to help whenever he can, hes chill. And then his dynamic with Snorpy, the gay ppl, the codependency, the care you can Feel for each-other, the way they dance around eachother so much. Its The Most Ever, a good part of why i enjoyed BrokenTooth so much.

Filbo is, hes just fun. I couldnt specifically cite a reason why i like him so much hes just, comforting. Hes just this guy he tries so hard all the time over and over again. Hes so nice and wants whats best for everyone and will do whatever he can to make sure people are happy, he doesnt know why Elizabert left him in charge and neither he nor anyone else things he should have been, but he still works so so hard to try and fill her shoes and to be the leader they need him to be. Oh and ofc the frogs hes got his own little froggies and mayo,,,,,,,

Im sorry i know you said Beffica was your favourite but i Hate Her. From the moment i met her i didnt like her and it did not get better. I get the little thing they tried to do with her about her just spreading the truth and getting the blame for things other people did but st the same time like, shes just a shit and i Do Not vibe with her. I dealt with her up until her last sidequest when she had the Nerve to go after my boys Chandlo and Snorpy. Like come on she finds out Chandlo is 100% genuine and immidiately instead tricks Snorpy into confessing about how he feels about Chandlo to her. He still thinks that was Chandlo hes gonna think that Chandlo’s reaction to him confessing was to run away and never address it ever again. Like come on the Least she could was not try to cover her ass and be upfront about it, what reputation is she protecting everyone already doesnt like her. Wished there was a dialogue option where the player Doesnt say theyre her friend i do Not want to be her friend

The rest of the characters i generally like, im kinda indifferent to Wiggle and Cramdo tho. Cramdo i think makes sense he kinda reminds me of spamton but less endearing, dont not like him but dont like him either. For Wiggle i just dont vibe with her much, nothing against her either just dont vibe.

I like Floofty and their whole vibe, particularly the autism and their lack of a moral compass and how it has them interacting with everyone else. I like Triffany and her archeological stuff, and her tendency to distance herself from people when she gets stressed, iits nice to see her contrast everyone else who either desperately wants everyone to stay together or to have absolutely nothing to do with anyone and instead she likes being in the town, but shes conflict avoidant so when one breaks out she’ll just leave, its reasonable. I love Gramble hes such a funky little guy and he loves his bugsnax, plus he just Radiates autism just by looking at him. I love Snorpy, talked about him a bit too when i was talking about Chandlo, hes a fun character on his own with his little conspiracy theories and stuff but to me where he really shines is when he interacts with other people, im sure theres other examples but i Really Really like watching him interact with Chandlo and Floofty, i want to study it under a microscope. I like Wambus his thing with like the gardening and just his overall vibes, not someone i would interact with regularly but i did get a bit excited whenever i had a quest, plus his relationship with Triffany is so wholesome and the cactriffany he made is rlly funny, and ofc Whatever The Fuck is going on with him and Gramble. Shelda had to grow on me a bit, i started off very indifferent she seemed kinda pretentious but she grew on me over her side quests and i did really like her in BrokenTooth, her whole religious experience plotline thing is very interesting to me and has me surprisingly invested for someone whos not and never been religious. Eggabell i… i dont have too much of an opinion on Eggabell, but her motives and the way she treats other people is very interesting, she kinda reminds of Luz in a lot of ways

I havent finished the game yet so i havent met Elizabert but she kinda makes me think of Rose Quartz, makes me think they’re gonna pull something with her at the end. The way everyone hyped her up so much at the start of the game saying all this incredible stuff and they all think shes so great snd then you get further in and some people start talking shit and pointing out her flaws and stuff. Very inch resting

I know everyone has their ‘nintendo franchises that are never coming back and it’s a fucking travesty’ list and i know that fangames and spiritual successors do exist but I still feel the need to scream about this so here’s my personal list of nintendo ips that I’ll nut if they ever decide to revisit

panel de pon/puzzle league - this is the biggest one for me personally, like it is such an ideal fucking form of the block puzzle genre that it is a crime that nobody else can just make one of those legally.  the version of it that they perfected by about the gbc-era pokemon puzzle challenge should just have been rereleased as-is on every nintendo system like so many of their other games like i would actualy have paid 40/60/whatever dollars for each one every single time like tetris or puyo puyo or fucking any of the other million franchises that get incremental updates every three years or so.  the ds game was an incredible stride forward too like the touch controls are such a natural fit for the style of puzzle game but because they directed intsys to completely file off the personality of the game it didn’t sell well and now the franchise is dead.  it makes me SO MAD

chibi robo - dude when i first read the plot summary for the fan translation of the DS game (the sequel, usually called “Clean Sweep” due to the patch name but its actual name is much longer) I cried real tears.  You’re just a li’l robot guy!  You go around this poor family’s house and do your li’l chores and make them happy!  And then I played it and it was at first much less emotional than I felt reading the summary and much weirder and goofier than i expected and then i played it some more and the emotions came back and hit me like a fucking truck.  The original on gamecube is really good too but the DS sequel (which takes place in the next generation like Jenny the kid from the first game is the mom in the sequel which!  wow!  Jenny Sanderson Autistic Icon with the Frog Outfit who Only Speaks In Ribbits becomes Single Mom living a hard but happy life with her son she had out of wedlock!  THIS IS SO FUCKING GOOD WHY DON’T MORE PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THIS (yes the stuff with the literal devil would not play to an american audience in the mid 2000s i know BUT STILL)).  Nintendo basically torched the franchise by trying to go all in on Chibi Robo as a cute li’l mascot robot guy instead of doubling down on the weird parody of 2000s Americana and Toy-Story adjacent lore they had going on and it’s SO.  AGGREVATING.

earthbound - you already know what it is but like, this one I actually get it.  Itoi told the stories he wanted to tell, it’s over, he doesn’t want to make any more, and we should respect that.  BUT.  Tell me a full remake in the style of Link’s Awakening with the toy-like aesthetics but leaning heavier on the claymation models used in the promo material wouldn’t do goddamn gangbusters.  Seriously.  Is it pandering?  YES.  Would I drop 60 bucks on it without thinking for more than 0.2 seconds?  YES.

Elite Beat Agents/Ouendan - I’m actually okay with Nintendo not revisiting this franchise for a few reasons - the DS was really the ideal vehicle for it, the OSU fan community is wild and vibrant even if I don’t go there, and it’s just not the same playing with fingers or a mouse as it is with the stylus.  However.  They could make a just dance knockoff using the joycons to track hand positions and put their funky guys in suits up on screen and I’d probably still go ‘y’know what for the price of their B-tier catalogue games? I’ll give it a shot’

Kid Icarus - I’m not even going to go into this one in full detail we both know we’re not getting another one until 2037

Punch Out!! - actually I think we can leave this one behind it’s, uh, kind of driven by cultural caricatures.  the boxing is good and seeing someone speedrun one of these blindfolded fucking rules but.  there’s an irishman named Aran Ryan.  maybe we should just keep moving.

Warioware - I’ve recently been playing through Warioland 2 and I can confidently say that I could write an essay and record it on video about how this game’s level design is ahead of its time.  Nintendo’s platformer repertoire includes sprinklings of puzzle elements here and there, but more recently they’re all pretty firmly in the realm of ‘skill-based’ platforming with puzzle elements primarily as a gate to accessing bonus materials or collectibles.  Warioland is the reverse of this - in some cases you literally cannot fuck up too terribly, as Wario is too powerful to die.  There’s some occasional tedium (Warioland 2 in particular is structured such that you can’t get hit by bosses even once or you have to start over, which Sucks Very Much) but it’s really a design philosophy that I think is worth revisiting.

Along the way through the Water District, Calypso engaged in some Yoda-esque hunting for frogs to feed Flux. It went rather well, because after all, frogs are just slimy weird dogs. She offered frogs to Flux until she refused to eat them anymore, and it was concluded that Calypso was an invasive species to the swamp ecosystem.

Due(??) to an offhand joke that Valor laid the purple dragon egg, Fea popped a squat and tried to lay an egg herself. When Calypso asked her why she was squatting, Valor suggested she was actually trying to poop. Cue the DM’s bafflement and woe:

When the party approached the lake housing Pory, they were approached by a water genasi guy who offered to place an enchantment that would allow them to breathe underwater-- air bubble around the head style. Everyone that needed it paid for two weeks of air, and those poor souls with pets paid for their air as well (sucks to be Valor right now). Kattie would be fully blind underwater, so she and Jericho attached themselves to Avi with some rope.

Avi’s Water Walk spell was discussed as a possible rapid escape route, as it has the effect of rocketing the target(s) to the surface of the water if they’re already submerged. Emergency ejector button.

The group descended to Pory on the sea floor. Avi broke off from the group, with those subject to his whims, to find a shark and pet it. Calypso got a closer look at the funky oceanic plant life, tasting some seaweed, much to Valor’s distaste (it just tasted like salt. Fea, meanwhile, marveled at all the lifelight down in the water and how smoothly it all moves.

After taking in the sights for a bit, the group proceeded to look for their contact Luna referred them to, a woman named Roca. They sought her out at her music (opera) house, the Sailor’s Siren. Once led back outside by the receptionist, the party laid eyes upon Roca-- a giant mermaid with half the body of a whale. Roca put a pause on the singing lesson she was giving to greet the party. She spoke to them in a smooth baritone, and the party was rather... taken with her.

Roca provided some information about Pory-- how its authorities are essentially private guards hired by the nobility, referred to as tycoonheads. Roca also referred the party to Teagan, the owner of a tavern across the way, for help re: infiltrating a brothel. The less horny half of the group engaged in some useful conversation, thankfully, because throughout Roca’s spiel Calypso was full-on ogling Roca’s tits. But at least she was being subtle about it--

--NOT!

There was a bit more banter and fluster before the group then left to find Teagan. Avi admonished Calypso for being a useless lesbian, and Calypso had assumed he’d be more understanding about it, considering he’s apparently dating someone large enough to eat planets or whatever. Fea argued simply that one does not get an opportunity such as this one very often.

Once in the tavern, the group observed a very drunk customer having a one-sided conversation with Teagan... a customer with a familiar cadence. It was... Corrin! Finally! He greeted the group excitedly, ordering a round of drinks for everyone.

Kattie explained to Avi and Jericho who Corrin was while everyone else caught up. Apparently Corrin had been bopping around Pory’s casinos for a while, and was currently separated from Astrid, who would be in the Fire District right now, so they could cover more ground. At the mention of the Breakfast Club’s mission, Corrin said that he had seen people wearing magic collars of some sort in multiple establishments in Pory, including the fight club in the chasm and the brothel called the Oasis. Corrin also apparently had just never encountered anyone with the Rising Tide despite his efforts.

Teagan brought out the specialty drink for his tavern-- a miniature pirate ship that is to be cracked apart to release the shot of liquor within. Hey, when you’re underwater, the drinks have to be creative.

Soon the group went up to Corrin’s room, and the conversation continued. When Corrin learned of Roca he immediately planned to go to her and shoot his shot. The conversation eventually landed on how Corrin’s quest of self-discovery had been going, since that had been his original intention when he left (along with helping Astrid). He explained that he felt a bit more grounded after helping people he encountered here in Harmonce, and that perhaps that sort of thing was his purpose. Avi detached from Kattie and Jericho to vibe at the bar, passing the rope to Fea. He soon had company, however.

(and then they had a talk about it 😔)

The next morning, the party gathered downstairs for breakfast as usual. Avi was surly due to the lack of access to the stars down in Pory, and Calypso was surly for other reasons. Fea sat with her, as she does, and soon the party hit up Teagan for the Lore-- rather, Calypso asked how they could get into the business of being sexy for money. Teagan explained that the Oasis was owned by a woman named Shouscylla, who he does not like. Teagan’s suggestion was for the party to work for him, so that Shouscylla would come to poach them for her own business. If they did work for her, she would almost certainly equip them with the obedience collars or cuffs. Teagan also mentioned that many of the tycoonheads have spies called cuttlekin that have been turning people in for being suspicious.

With this information, the group decided to scope out the Oasis before committing to working there. But they’d have to wait till later in the day for that, so they set about on various errands or distractions until then. Valor offered some of her beauty goo to Avi, as the spell component for True Seeing (to give to Kattie so she could try to Dispel Magic on the cuffs in the Oasis), even though he didn’t need a handout now that he had gold to spend.

Fea and Calypso, naturally, headed over to see Roka perform at the Sailor’s Siren. They even did the thing where they argue over who pays for the tickets. Corrin was also there, closer to the front, but later he would be turned down by Roca. Alas. Avi and Jericho went on an Ocean Animal Adventure, and Valor and Kattie had a girls’ day out.

That night, the group made their way to the Oasis. Upon entering the establishment, the majority of the group fell prey to some sort of spell effect, lowering their inhibitions and enticing them directly toward the gorgeous performers. Avi and (surprisingly) Calypso saved from the effect and remained focused. But the further they moved into the building, the effect grew stronger, and this time only Avi and Jericho were safe. Fea beelined for a stripper and knelt (praying at the altar of ass) to watch her, Calypso following.

Avi, using Detect Magic, noted that about 20 Oasis workers (all of them in the room), as well as all the people downstairs, were wearing the cuffs. The Oasis’s entrances were enchanted to do magic upon all who enter. During his investigating, Shouscylla approached him and Jericho to try and lure them closer to the dancers. She radiated bad vibes. Avi also ordered a drink but made sure to use Purify Food and Drink on it before drinking.

Valor had a seat and was approached by a jellyfish lady who introduced herself as Cora (Teagan had mentioned her). After Cora jolted Valor out of her stupor, the two engaged in conversation, going through the motions of having a more charged encounter. Cora said that the cuffs could be disabled with a little jolt of her electricity, and would be interested in aiding the party in doing their rebellion. Valor suggested she tell others about the party’s presence and their intent to help.

Calypso threw some gold to the stripper she and Fea were watching, and the woman (who sounded like Lina Lamont) bent down to Fea and seductively touched her mask. This broke the spell on Fea (she does not want anyone to touch her mask, with one exception) and prompted her to walk away from the stage.

Soon enough Avi herded the rest of the party toward the exit, and they all discussed what they had learned, if anything. With the information Valor got from Cora, the party began to formulate some possible plans to go from there.

I have a least favourite tho. That one that gives birth out of its back holes. It triggers my trypophobia very badly. My mum made me watch a video of it (or maybe it was just the picture) and I had a panic attack that verged on a mental breakdown. She looked at me weirdly and told me "it's not that bad. Extra extra, read all about it! Welcome to the Empire’s Recap, and today we will be going over the chaos and drama of our (somewhat) respected rulers!

This week is the end of something special to us all… no, not 2022! The crossover! But first we must go back in time a bit, to when the Emperor's first crossed over to Hermitcraft.

Joey

Avast! Fashionably late, Pirate Joe is finally showing his side of the Battle of Fort Riffless, though I’m not sure he properly understood the Battle part. He was sad to watch his new crew leave with hardly a second thought, and the missile shot at Grumbot could’ve blown up his new concrete maker!

Thankfully, it didn’t, and the open Rift provided a…convenient opportunity. Miss Shelby was having some trouble deciding whether to go through the portal or not, and well. Joey “helped”.

With most of Empires to himself now, Pirate Joe did what pirates do best: raid! He cleaned out Hermitopia of all its valuables, storing them in a secret room inside of his secret basement with greedy glee. They don’t need them anymore!

But if the other Emperors were going to be gone for a while. Well.

It’s pranking time. And Joey knows just who deserves a little pranking. Someone who was definitely on the other side of the portal.

Joey’s first visit to Evermoore in a while gives him a chance to marvel at the massive frog Shelby left behind - would she notice him missing?

Well, hopefully she will notice the change in her storage. A little pirate “magic” has replaced all of her valuable and important items with pieces of coal!

It even hit her shop - good luck making back the diamonds with no potion ingredients, miss Witch!

But what’s even more piratey than stealing treasure?

Burying it with a treasure map, of course! And Joey chooses Dawn as his X-marks-the-spot; if Shelby thinks it was Gem who stole her things, the two of them can fight over it, and that’s a show he wants to see!

The missing emperors aren’t all that missing, and their arrival onto the Hermitcraft server is heralded by chaos, shown by the many ways people got out of Grian’s very inaccessible rift cave. One of those methods is death - demonstrated quite nicely by Shelby Shubble.

Rescue Squad Scar shows up with an elytra and some teleportation cookies, and then Shelby meets up with Oli so he can show her the Christmas village everyone is building in!

New King Sausage is working at the village and Shelby gets herself appointed as Court Magician, and Oli as Court Jester, of course. Cub visits for some fun and Shelby gets a bootleg wand for while she’s on Hermitcraft.

[SHUBBLE] Ok but whenever anyone wants a potion to do something like, crazy and funky, I do it for free!

[SAUSAGE] She turned me into a zombie one time!

[SHUBBLE] Yeah that was free!

[SAUSAGE] Yep! I didn’t pay anything for that one!

[SHUBBLE] And I’d do it again for free too!

[NARRATOR] Nothing wrong with that!

Sausage leads Shelby on an adventure for nether wood, with a perfectly normal reaction to their nether hub, because honestly? The hermits are actually insane

[SHUBBLE] These people are rich rich.

[SAUSAGE] Yeah these are real nether stars, each one of these is a nether star. That’s one wither kill per star, and they’re everywhere. Yeah mhm.

[SHUBBLE] Man, I’m feeling, uh, very inadequate all of a sudden.

[SAUSAGE] Yeah, these guys are built differently, it’s ok, we can’t all…

[NARRATOR] Jevin visits their humble abode with some Christmas hats, really taking on the role of Santa.

She builds her home in the Christmas village, but she doesn’t get to live in it for long when Oli comes by yelling about the rift closing!

A final goodbye to the Hermits and Shelby arrives back in empires with Tortoise back on her head. She travels home through a village where she comes across her own wanted poster.

At least she’s worth quite a lot?

Scott

Scott’s feeling a bit homesick, and with the rift shrinking day by day it’s probably time to check out and head back home.

In return for Scars hospitality while Scott’s been on Hermitcraft, Scott does some “community service” around Scarland, fixing a few things that were broken and adding in a few hidden lights to make the place more Scar Safe.

Showcasing his love for cats, he builds Jellie a cat tree in the hotel! She’s a hard worker, she deserves a gift as well.

Since Scott can’t light up the whole park with hidden lighting, the next best thing is a security force - that answers to Jellie, of course.

The last, final, best gift - if you’re a little bit of a narcissist - is Scott leaving statues of himself around the apartment.

Scarland will forever have a touch of Scott Smajor when Scott heads home…

Which he has to do quickly, as when he turns up at the rift it has shrunk quite drastically and is now just one block. He leaves a note and heads through, to the other side of the rift.

A wander through the abandoned Hermitopia yields some goodies, and when he checks his Llama outpost, Bdubs has left him his Secret Santa!

But he can’t be wandering about forever, so back to Chromia he goes! It looks a little more orange than when he left it, and to say his reaction is dramatic would be understating it.

[SCOTT] Chromia, a place to dye for! Lets go home. Home sweet--- WHAT—

fWhip

[NARRATOR] With fWhip still on the Hermitcraft server, we discover that Mr. Cuddles still owns fWhip’s apartment in Scarland before heading over to the Holiday Village.

The Holiday Village being the Empires crew’s home away from home and all, fWhip needed a tour. During this tour, fWhip hands out presents from Scarland which are all the blocks that accidentally lagged into his inventory. Sausage also continuously tries to get fWhip to remember his lore life back on Empires but fails, even with some odd-looking ears.

fWhip later checks in on the impending closure of the rift where he discovers it is definitely time to go locate where Sniff and Gary disappeared to. Sniff is the first to be successfully located, closely followed by Gary. With both Sniff and Gary back home, fWhip follows them through, where he finally remembers his life as a goblin.

Back in the Goblands, Sniff is reunited with his brother, Snort and Gary is escorted to temporary housing. fWhip decides that if Gary is to remain in the Goblands, there needed to be a hospital for Gary. Our goblin king goes scavenging for materials in the old Hermits’ home away from home for this hospital. A frog doctor is hired for the new Gobland facility. Thus, Gary is moved into the back-alley hospital in Gobland to heal before officially returning to Animalia.

Sausage

Mythical Sausage spends his Christmas break with many people. Starting off with his wood Papi Keralis, he shows Sausage the mini Sanctuary down below, decorating the new wood farm. After that, Sausage helps his thunder daddy decorate the new tree in the Christmas area. With the new balls he adds, it looks fantastic.

Pearl takes a tour around his new house, which fits her theme very well. With news of the Rift shrinking, Sausage introduces his new child Sunny.

Speaking of which, once both members of Hermitcraft and Empires congregate around the Rift, Pearl and Sausage have a small moment aside from the rest. They talk and are both thrown back into memories.

Sausage remembers the tragedy that is the season one finale. Pearl dies in his arms, so he's filled with the need to get her back.

[SAUSAGE] The days turn to weeks. The weeks turn to months. And the months turn to years. Pearl could never be saved. Now I’m just an old man, defeated, but something interesting happened…

[NARRATOR] After travelling the multiverse, he meets Saint Pearl as an old man, who throws him into Afterlife as a way to relax. After dying, he ascends back to heaven, from which he takes a nap and is thrown into Empires season two, where we are now.

Having had his vision, Sausage jumps through the portal with a final wave. It's clearly not the end for this man, it’s a beginning.
