What's your all-time favorite Bob's Burgers episode? Like this is YOUR episode? (You can list multiple if you want!)
Babs you don't know how loaded that question is, I genuinely cant choose just one. I really have to rewatch past episodes as well as catch up on the newer seasons that I've missed cause its definitely been a hot minute since i watched an episode.
Some of my favorites have to be (in no particular order):
Glued, Where's My Bob? - I mean HELLO??? Definitely one of the most memorable eps. The music i think is what gets me, Bad Things Happen in the Bathroom will always be a banger
The Quirkducers - Any Thanksgiving ep is a good ep, but when I think back to this one, its definitely means a lot to me emotionally. Seeing a girl feel like she doesn't fit in & long to be like all the other 'turkeys', facing self image issues in many diff ways really got to me, cause I saw myself in her in those moments especially. For her to then sing about gaining confidence and having 'the guts' to be herself made me shed so many tears. not to mention that song being top 5 best Bobs Burgers songs, its so good.
Tina-rannosauras Wrecks - The car scene is one of my favorite bits they've done, period. It made my dad crack up (which is extremely hard to do), and I love the "show me your everything is ok face" scene. My family always says that I'm Tina, and eps like this are always used as an example lol. Perfection.
Gayle Makin' Bob Sled - Don't remember this one that much but its one we used to play repeatedly on Thanksgiving, so it means a lot nostalgia-wise.
Easy Com-mercial, Easy Go-mercial - This ep will always hold a special place in my heart cause it was the very first full episode my family & I ever watched of Bob's Burgers on tv (our 1st ever experience with the show being the last 2 minutes of the "Speakeasy Rider" ep on tv). It was so funny and quotable with the "Come meet our family, and let us 'meat' you" & "Super-bowel" bits. It was our first true exposure to the show, and ever since then we've been hooked and stream it every now and then. Definitely one of my top 10 if I ever make a true ranking one day.
Wharf Horse pt 1 &/or 2 - decided to add this one cause I honestly love any ep with Calvin in it, but i also found Felix in this super funny as well. My fave bits probably have to be when Felix is trying to create a distraction with his robot-leg-thing bit and when he screams "WHAT" when Calvin says he's never selling the Wharf (the rage is so visceral and comedic its insane, I think about that bit way too often). AND THE END CREDITS SCENE AND MUSIC IS SO BADASS LIKE IT MAKES ME FEEL LIKE IM ASCENDING EVERY TIME I THINK ABOUT IT
and like so many others I can't even think of rn
Hope this suffices! Thanks a bunch Babs!

Everytime I rewatch Tristamp on subs I get a kick out of the fact the radio DJ is Masaya Onosaka, Vash's original JP voice actor. He was the voice of Vash for two decades and now he's sounding the call to hunt 'Vash the Stampede' down. I can almost imagine his Vash cackling behind the professional radio voiceover like 'now it's your turn kiddo'. (while Show Hayami, Wolfwood's original JP actor is the Eye of Michael radio televangelist in ep 5, which is its own irony...)
Considering I've just had an extensive listen to the 98's subs hearing all the vocal range + complexities there, aaaaa this has got to be one of those fun lil winkwink nudgenudge easter egg inside joke kinda things from Studio Orange's casting. x'D Also because the radio DJ's voice was almost always there, narrating along with them and present for most of the eps anyway (ep1-6, 10, 12) as they traveled around in Meryl's car! :'D That's so cute, because yeah, it's like old Vash was still there the whole time (in spirit~) guiding the new kids around the block.
Cause gosh do they sound so much older now, ahaha. (And I totally get why the casting directors would want to try a fresh new spin and/or different portrayal for the main chars.) But you can still catch some of that old sing-songy, playful and performative, yet clean and posh-sounding 'pretty boy' enunciation in his (Onosaka's) voice! ahaha
And there's no replacement for JYB's eng Vash portrayal either, who reprises his old role (yay!) and still kills it with all the wacky-silly-pathetic Noises(tm) and raw yelling Anguish (my favorite~) Cause man, all his natural energetic ad-libbing, to his soft vulnerability (and masked happy 'customer service' voice), to him screaming his heart out (damn did you hear him go off in ep12!) were still just as fantastic to hear again. :'3
But then of course, I'm not without praise for Stampede Vash's new jp voice! Matsuoka--whom you may also know as Inosuke (Demon Slayer) or Teru (mp100). Cause in my opinion, his portrayal brings...a different type of flavor. He can be just as soft/genuine/sincere, with just a little more throatier grit/gravel (pain) around the edges, but then he can suddenly drop to a much deeper register (like a more guttural, low chest resonant sound, like when he ordered E.G. Mine 'that's enough') or explode with spontaneous bizarre noises (like the Sneeze) that have you double-taking like---I beg your pardon!? O.O (Thinking: there's something weirdly odd and uncanny about this guy!!) Unassuming yet polite (esp vs his very soft appearance). Who def has the vocal range, like he's deliberately holding himself back, to go louder & feral--just like Inosuke does. Those things, I think, are the strengths he brings to Vash's new portrayal.

Get ready because today I have something beefy for you all- it’s an episode -to- episode NekoRenge comparison ! I put this together months ago when rewatching the series. The goal of this was taking note of interesting parallels. Enjoy!
Important note: by “Scene A, Scene B”, i was mainly just counting the scenes in which the characters in question appeared (Renge, Nekozawa). There are parts of the episodes that are not present in these breakdowns because they do not showcase the characters or because they do not offer the parallel information I was seeking out. Hope this makes sense!
EP 4 ATTACK OF THE LADY MANAGER
Scene A (Renge)
We first see her shrouded in darkness with only the light of her screens. Clearly comfortable with the dark, maybe even used to it.
Comfortable being alone, stays in her room in the dark, door closed, playing games.
Is not entirely a loud and dramatic person as seen by her interactions in this first scene.
Is interested in a “prince charming” (but NOT a “phony” tamaki type [see later])
Scene B (Renge)
Has a deep despise for ingenuine or “phony” people, especially in regards to “princely” characters. (Take a drink whenever you read ‘prince’ or ‘princely’ in this breakdown lol)
Wants someone who does not “spread their love around so easily”- not a naturally flirty type
Against narcissists and commoners (im compiling all related information so i guess i’ll mention it)
Again, shes looking for her “one and only prince charming”…
Scene C (Renge)
Wants a “love at first sight”
Her favorite dating sim character adores flowers when he thinks no one else is looking and (“sweet”ly) reaches out to a (poor little) injured kitten (remember this)
Wants a “gentleman who’s kind to everyone but doesnt ask for anything in return” and “likes solitude but in fact sometimes gets lonely”
Likes that kyoya manages their club and wants to help advertise at first
Scene D (Renge)
Finds it essential that the hosts all have a “dark” side otherwise they are “lukewarm” and annoy her
“Girls” are vulnerable to “handsome young men that are troubled”
When Tamaki poses dramatically she really loves it (“would be even more effective if you were standing in the rain!”)
Scene E (Renge)
Appreciates haruhi stepping in the way and protecting her
Scene F (Renge)
“It was so chivalrous of you to risk your life to protect me” (i wonder if we will see anyone else perform any self-sacrificial moves to protect someone they love)
EP 11 BIG BROTHER IS A PRINCE
Scene A (Kirimi)
Nekozawa is immediately established as a “strong, handsome prince”, chivalrous, who would “defeat a monster”.
Scene B (Nekozawa)
Nekozawa emerges dramatically and inexplicably from nowhere in Music Room 3
Caring towards his sister “all i want is for my sister to be happy. Make sure she gets the love she deserves!”, always trying to reach out to her
Evil iconic laughter
Loves cats!
Unintentionally scares people away (i.e. kirimi)
Genuine and in touch with his emotions
CONSTANT mentions of nekozawa as a “prince”
Scene A (Renge)
Renge emerges dramatically and inexplicably from nowhere in Music Room 3
Evil iconic laughter
Scares people upon arrival
Scene B (Nekozawa and Renge)
Dramatic poses
Somehow everyone’s a phony but when she starts feeding Nekozawa scripts its okay (i know she scripts the hosts too but i just think her hypocrisy is funny)
They both have their strong passions tbh
The lines she is giving him are as mentioned questionable for his sister. Then who are they for? Did she get carried away? At the bare minimum, they relate back to her obsessive gaming but even still in that case there is the implication that it would or could be lines that she likes?
He cowers and just apologizes when she goes medusa mode
Coaching him on being “princely”…
“Its okay to have a dark side, “some girls” like that”. “Cute, brooding male characters always go over well” This by itself but also the illustrations portray a brunette with a big hair bow fawning over the nekozawa stand-in (not to mention the parallels to uki doki memorial with the cat image AND the way shes reacted to the dark sides of the host club boys in ep 4)
She’s the only person who he’s shown this side when up against and seems intimidated by
Shes encouraging him…….. in her own way..
“Even Edgar was able to face the cross once he built up his courage” “but i thought you rejected the occult” “occult fiction is good, occult fashion is not” COME ON. literally. They have common interests. This is a slam dunk for me
“Youre the one who’s always wearing weird cosplay” -hikaru (direct comparison between her cosplays and his outfits of choice. IM not even having to make these comparisons the show is doing it for me)
Seems to already be romanticizing him in some regard if the “eyes of your heart” is any indication (albeit with some aggression because she’s Renge)
Shots where the two are positioned with a chalkboard heart between them (worth at least mentioning!)
She silently watches and encourages him, seems a little proud of or amazed by his bravery?
Her eyes are shining with what seems to be actual pride when he shines the flashlight
He isnt afraid to be genuine, and cares passionately
Leaps out the window to save his sister even forgetting his cloak
Renge’s pleased (she’s one of the most genuinely excited of the group to see him conquer his fear and come to his sister’s rescue- twins are sarcastic)
Scene C (Kirimi)
“I have a princely big brother who will fight to protect me, even if it means dashing out into the sunlight, the one thing he fears most of all.”
Ok, I think I’ve color coded most of the key parallel stuff! Some of this… reaches more than others, but I think when you start looking at it this way it looks more and more solid. I was going to go through the whole series episode by episode with this sort of analysis in regards to the ship but honestly these are some of the most key episodes. I think if i were to look into any others, my goals would be to look into Haruhi in Wonderland and Until the Day it Becomes a Pumpkin, because off the top of my head those are the last ones with any interactions.
If you’re reading this, thank you for reading!! I hope it was at the very least entertaining and perhaps even eye-opening! I’ve loved the response to my fanart, with some people realizing the potential of the ship for the first time! So heartwarming to hear it. Have a great day!

wwdits s4 thoughts (spoilers)
I didn’t start till October so I knew some stuff through my dash, very glad I saw the post where the interviewers said Guillermo and Nador wouldn’t get together to set my expectations after OFMD
The djinn is a really fun character
Glad The Guide is more of a main character the series needed another female character.
Marhwa is one of the most sympathetic characters in the show, peak she deserves better than this dude
I saw that Guillermo embezzles from the club in a LOT of posts because it was cute to see him take care of his parents. But it’s still heavily implied from this early ep.
The season is really clear in setting up each character's motivation and character arc.
Nadja’s arc has been my favorite. Lmao to the way she said  “kill them all” to solve her workers unionizing.
Lazlo’s struggles of fatherhood where he’s a bad dad in different ways has been my least favorite. But then again I don’t want kids so I’m not interested in parenting subplots.
Guillermo FaceTiming someone twice is notable, only people he pays this much attention to outside of the vamps and family is a potential victim. But this is a very different vibe
Nador vs Guillermo fight is even more tense and charged than last season. Even after rewatching I'm confused at what parts of the fight they were staging for escape versus actually into beating the other
Nadja union busting through narcotic bribery, Nadja’s always been a fuck you got mine "girlboss", especially when her power is being challenged. Nice that it didn't work, workers unite!
The parent interview was just too much cringe comedy for me
Love Guillermo’s jewel tone jacket outfit. Hope there's a post that points out all the designer items
Wedding episode had an ad that I noted down since I was watching ad-free. Clever trick it was for the go flip yourself tv show in universe.
Everyone looks so nice in their wedding outfits. Costuming in this show has always been great and its easy to overlook it
I was trying to pin why Guillermo seems so different this season, and I really think it is that he found confidence and is less desperate . Other characters are respecting him more too.
Nandor made peak cursed wish with “like the same things I like” I was confused until the end of the season if he immediately wasted 2/3 wishes instead of fixing that wish since he obviously seemed so uncomfortable with it
“Because I’m gay” holy shit! Such an emotional moment, yeah the family always knew but still it’s such an impactful moment. The show has had a range of queer characters but it's often more played for laughs while this is more heartfelt. I'm old enough it's also a brief moment of "wow things have come so far"
Lmao at the cliche home renovation episode, I love when a tv show adopts the visual style of another genre of show (like Leverage "The office job"). I deeply enjoy home renovation shows, good or bad they're only reality tv I enjoy. I think it's my favorite episode in the show, and I genuinely wasn't expecting Simon the Devious.
Maybe because I am watching these all at once that the heavy parody parts of each episode stick out. Guillermo being the overworked friend planning the wedding is a romcom classing. The Baron doing the cliche makeover montage.
Wow so Freddie gave the business card as if he's trying to buy valuable antiques from someone he thinks is senile, and Nador is fine cheating and being a home wrecker to meet up. hmm
Wait Marhwa ends that episode overwritten and basically dead in body and mind?! Freddie is a cheater! I feel really bad for Guillermo, ESH but him
Holy shit sunrise and sunset the song from Fiddler. As a theater nerd I know this ep is going to be sad also wow Matt berry can sing
Colin feeding on anger makes sense, I though he was being annoying at times but chalked that up to finding all kids annoying, but you can farm a lot of anger as an annoying kid.
Classic that Nadja got so proud her arrogance led to the club's downfall. Very short-sighted she didn't take the money out before the arson for insurance fraud.
Colin back to himself with no memory nothing changed. Hmm did the experience of being a parent change Lazlo?
Guillermo spent a year of his life devoted to things that as he put it didnt change. The reasons he gave in first episode for not walking out didn't amount to anything in the end
GUILLERMO BUYING HIS WAY INTO VAMPRIISM FUCK YEAH. he's really changed since season 1. The chorus ending is pretty great.
I’d rate it 2nd best season behind last season, major points lost because I liked Marhwa and I’m sad what happens to her. I'm not judging Nandor's actions this season as morally "worse" than the others, but being shitty to your SO is more relatable and personal.
Wow for the first time I’m interested in fanfic for this show starting with “different choices canon divergence” au and “picks up right where season ended” since next season will prob start with a timeskip.

Digimon Questionare
normally I don’t do these kinds of things but im just so... DIGIMON rn i cant NOT. Warrior Cats and Digimon are my Main Obsessions Always and like i can draw warrior cats but i cant draw Digimon cause Humans and Outlandish Monsters lol
anyway i made these all up
Favorite Over-all Character? Koichi Kimura!
Favorite Googlehead? Tagiru! I just like his spirit. I also really like Mikey, and how well they play his flaws, because Mikey’s a really genuinely good guy and great leader in ways that Tai and others aren’t, but it’s also Mikey’s flaw because he tries so hard to be good and to give to others that it’s shown to physically and mentally hurt himself, which is a really interesting route to go! ...I love how I talked more about Mikey than my actual favorite Tagiru lol. Idk, I just think Tagiru is Davis but better, and I like how fiery Tagiru is, plus his partner Gumdramon is awesome
Favorite Blue Bestie? ...Ken? He’s literally the only one that’s NOT blue lol. So if I had to pick an actually blue boy I’d say... Koji? Kiyoshiro is also a strong contender
Favorite Redeemed Evil? KOICHI! KIMURA! Can I just say HIS plot twist was the only one i NEVER EXPECTED??? And I can answer you why: I was so young watching the other Digimon seasons that I couldn’t remember my reaction to the plot twists and just knew them as facts, OR I was too old watching the other seasons that I predicted or just accepted the plot twists easily. BUT KOICHI’S???? I was just the perfect age of “can remember my reaction to this, but not old enough to theorize properly.” I remember when we first say Koichi on the train flashback, I thought it was Koji! I thought Koji got sent back too. So when I learned Duskmon (Koichi) was KOJI’S TWIN, I flipped my shit y’all! ALSO! Koichi is a dark lion how could I not love him lol.
Favorite Digimon? If I had to pick a ‘mon to be my partner: Gatomon, duh. But favorite digimon character? Probably Gumdramon for his backstory (wild child!) and personality, but Gammamon might potentially usurp him. Renamon and Impmon are some of my favs for their friendship though!
Favorite Partnership? Hm, Hiro and Gammamon for the big brother-little brother relationship? Or, Kiyoshiro and Jellymon just because they’re like the only male human-female Digimon pair and I like their dynamic. Really, I like any partnerships from Tamers or Ghost Game best; they feel the most natural, realistic and flesh-out in those seasons. Meiko and Meicoomon are an honorable mention
Favorite Series? GHOST GAME! It used to be Frontier, and Frontier will always have a special place in my heart, but Ghost Game is so freakin’ good. So, Ghost Game, then Frontier, then Hunters. I like the ones that are least liked lol. I like GG just cause of how polished and cool it is, but I love Frontier for nostalgic reasons plus the kids turning into Digimon was so unique and I loved its movie. Hunter just because I like the concept of ‘hunting’ the Digimon like theyre Pokemon lmao :)
Ranking the Series:
1. Ghost Game (will rewatch)
2. Frontier (won’t rewatch)
3. Hunters (rewatch some episodes)
4. Tamers (will rewatch)
5. Tri (will rewatch)
6. Adventure 02 (will rewatch)
7. Adventure (may rewatch)
8. Data Squad (won’t rewatch)
9. Fusion (rewatch some episodes)
10. X-Evolution (won’t rewatch)
11. Universe (no. just. no. never watched past 2 eps)
Subs or Dubs? Both. Both are good. I prefer watching dubs, though, and tend to stick to English names and such, but I’ve read enough Japanese names fics and obviously Hunter and Ghost Game only have subs, so I’m more than used to Japanese names and versions, and prefer it in some ways (Yuu > Ewan supremacy).
Favorite Ship? Oh, Daiken (Ken and Davis/Daisuke) hands down. You can’t even convince me they’re not gay with the “I can feel your beating heart” bullshit. Is this even a question? Other than them, I also really like “Ken crushing on TK bcus of when TK hit the Digimon Emperor” and also Tagiru X Yuu/Ewan! But also I’m very flexible in my ships lol. cause I also like Yuu x Airu. ALSO Tai x Sora x Matt supremacy! Digimon Tri really solidified and made me love the hell outta that polyam ship.
Favorite Headcanon? That Kari is asexual aromantic! She has no interest in guys (or gals) but feels pressured to. She really feared that her best friend TK would want to get with her and it would all be ruined, but unknown to her, TK was in a similar situation! He was aspec but thought he was pure straight, and was thus a serial dater and a bit of a “player” cause he couldn’t really keep a girlfriend due to having no real emotional attachment to them/fading interest and him always wanting to hang w/ Kari instead. He’s likely demi and only has feelings of attachment/romance for Kari, but he’s also possibly asexual, just uncertain. He and Kari end up as queerplatonic bf/gf! Kari gets the relief of always having her bestie with her without any pressure to be “romantic” or, to her absolute horror, sexual, and TK can feel secure and loved without worry <3
Favorite Digimon Fan-media? Obviously The Ultimate Gathering of the Digidestined is awesome, but its literally a crime if you’ve never read the comic Digimon Frontier Re-Birth. Literally @digimon-fr is the fucking best. as far as im concerned its canon and I love Geopardmon and Nachtmon, darkness babies

sunflowers are gorgeous, my step dad is growing a few, i'll get some photos for you!!! 💛💛💛
i've been rewatching a lot of gose lately, it cheers me up and gets me through an anxiety day or if i have a bad work day <33 he's so good as mafia!!! <3 although the one ep where he's mafia and seungkwan is the police and he checks hoshi, learns that he's the mafia and then gets killed IS SO HEARTBREAKING GRR 😂😂😂😂 POOR KWANNIE >.<
okay now i'm trapped between hoshi and jihoon, i read a few jihoon fics this morning and then watched a few compilations and now i'm STUCK BETWEEN THEM AAAAAA
i am definitely that person too, esp if it's something genuinely hilarious. you laugh at something funny and then someone's laugh just sets you back off again 😭😭😭
omg wait no that would be completely chaotic, i don't think anyone other than cheol is equipped to deal with how chaotic svt are <33
i love hsm so much you don't understand </3 i want to erase my memory of hsm and watch them all over again i'm OBSESSED :o i'm being biased here bc he's my url but i just want to have a day out with seungkwan, i just think it would be the most fun </3 we can both be so savage and i feel like our personalities are so similar <3
omg yes yes, LEE KNOW PLS, him and his cats are so beautiful to me!!! 🥰 my s/o and i have two cats together, he gets SOOOOO flustered over baby animals! when he sees bunnies, his voice goes so high pitched and he screams "BUNNYYYYY" 😍😍😍😍
you just can't help but bias the whole group tbh <3 they're my favourite group. i've actually had the same favourite artist for the last 18 years which are a band called mcfly but i think svt have taken that number one spot in my heart. i've been wrestling with the both of them since i first listened to svt 6 years ago but nah, i think svt have my whole entire heart <3333
hiii heather sorry for taking forever to reply to this!! i literally panicked when i came to reply bc i thought it got deleted somehow :(
omg please do!! i’d love to see them <3
one day i will just... sit back and watch gose and tmap and probs the different skz stuff. is that from one of the TTT eps? i think i remember that one lol
oh big mood lol i literally switch between wonwoo n vernon based on the day. i am soft for them <3 but honestly all of svt bias wrecks me depending on the day. i think its usually dino and cheol like... most often (dino’s humor <3 i just love how he clowns the others sometimes lmao and cheol’s... everything tbh i love that man), but it really just depends on what they’re doing lol
sometimes i laugh too hard to the point where i go completely silent and it hurts lmao i did have someone go “stop STOP, UR KILLING HER” once in response to me silently crying w laughter
it’d be chaotic but i still want to see it fskhfdf like. looking at shinee, i’m like... there’s only one person who can handle taemin and it’s onew and even then taemin gets away with a lot lmao
BIG mood tho!! they’re such silly fun movies <3 i love them so much. seungkwan would be fun to have a day out with tbh!! i feel like he’d be fun to talk with esp just bc he’s a sweetie who i think would happily carry convo if ur a lil nervous or listen if ur passionate abt something. honestly i think all of svt would be fun to have a day out with depending on what ur doing? jeonghan n jun would both be good for like... rly chill, laid-back days tbh
also minho and his cats... i legit love them so much. he’s such a good cat dad!! also aww ur s/o sounds so cute!! also pls tell ur kitties that i love them omg <3
idk if i’d call svt my favorite group since i have multiple groups that i love + i think shinee will always rank very highly since they’re genuinely very special to me and i love them a lot. + i’m a softie for both trsr, golcha, and skz!! there are simply so many men i am soft for <3 is this allowed--

gobus rewatch ep 6 thoughts

ive mentioned many times before that i adore the way the mecha and mecha fights are set up in gobusters, theyre genuinely my favorite mecha set up in any sentai ive watched. i remember in the behind the making of the first ep video the fight choreo director talked about how he wanted each fight to be dynamic and to not be boring, which they honestly achieved really well. ill be honest im one of those toku fans who will zone out during the mecha fight portion of episodes (if the show has a mecha fight) but gobusters was never like that for me. similarly to wizard and blazar i always felt engaged in its fights and they were never boring to me, including the mecha fights. this is in part to the world building and the writing of the show, where the mecha have to undergo a lot of maintenance and we see those mecha workers regularly. the show takes pains to make sure we as the audience are aware that the fight could not be possible with just one person, it takes a whole large team of people working together to be able to fight.
with that in mind i also really love how the trio arent just able to form their combined mecha super easily, we see the three of them going through training simulations and theyve failed over 20 times according to nick. i love the little details in the pilot cockpit, the keypad and controls and codes they have to press in order to perform certain actions, along with them having to take their fuel usage into account. from a character and dynamic perspective, this is good early on because we get the sense that while hiromu has joined the team and hes getting to know youko & ryuuji and we see that theyre generally getting along, hiromu is still not entirely in sync with his teammates. hes frustrated and stubborn, hes gone through these simulations and training sequences with nick presumably hundreds of times before meeting up with the other two at the beginning of the show. he KNOWS hes capable, so whats going on? he did fine when he did it on his own.

i enjoyed ryuuji and hiromus dynamic in this episode. ryuuji, unsuprisingly, very easily slips into a brotherly mentor role to hiromu- but its clearly a different kind of mentorship than how ryuuji would approach guiding youko through something. this episode really highlights just how stubborn hiromu is, he focuses on something and doesnt give up until he solves it and isnt very receptive to being given advice on doing a task differently. and ryuuji, having spent so many years raising another stubborn and strong willed person (youko) is able to percieve this about hiromu and knows that he cant just flat out tell hiromu what hes doing wrong. hes got to be able to work it out himself. but he still is gently nudging hiromu towards the answer while supporting him. we get a sense early on in the episode that hiromu feels a bit tense about ryuuji calling off their training session, as if hes wondering if ryuuji thinks that hiromu just isnt capable enough- but thats not the case at all. ryuuji has probably seen youko get frustrated to the point of needing to walk away from something, and as the eldest of the team he decides to step in before either of the younger two get too frustrated or end up burnt out.
also a note. i dont plan on sacrificing myself for you. oh the early show late show forshadowing irony
Tumblr media
the crux of the issue is that hiromu has been training all by himself for 13 years, whereas youko and ryuuji have always trained with each other. hiromu still believes he has to do everything by himself, and subconciously believes that he can only fully trust himself. because of this he hasnt been allowing ryuuji and youko to take the lead and do their parts while he stands back for a moment, he hasnt allowed himself to trust them enough for there to be a proper give and take in their team. and thats not because hiromu doesnt like youko and ryuuji, its just something that he hasnt thought of this entire time. when youve worked and trained alone for your entire life, its jarring to realize that you have people you can rely on and trust.
in the end its another sweet moment and good building of the team, they have to work hard to achieve their goal and they each have different strengths and weaknesses, and hiromu has to realize that he needs to trust his teammates just as they trust him in order for them to survive.

Puppeteer 2 is one of the best episodes for relationship development of the series
Tumblr media
this is once again a plea for the fandom to get over a minute long statue scene that is honestly kinda funny to enjoy some of the beauties of the rest of this episode. I've seen so many people, even people who don't salt say this episode is a pass when you should definitely watch it if you love the love square
this is one of the best love square development episodes of the series and i see so many people discredit ot not realizing that all the salty takes on how the love square is a bad ship would be discredited by this episode and just....it's a banger of an episode
under a read more cause this post got long
for starters, the core 4 and djwifi interactions are godtier
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THEN THERES MR SHE'S JUST A FRIEND AGRESTE BEING SO SAD AT THE IDEA THAT MARINETTE DOESN'T LIKE HIM
He values her friendship so much and is absolutely devastated that she doesn't feel the same way and so he spends the rest of the episode trying to make her like him because he just cannot bear marinette dupain cheng not liking him
Tumblr media
look at them how could you not want to know why the tension in the elevator is so palpable
and
THE ADRINETTE IS SO GOOD THOUGH AHH
Tumblr media
we have adrien who genuinely just wants to be friends with marinette and marinette catastrophizing up a storm and see them both lose braincells cause adrien is like oh i'll just play a prank like when i do it to ladybug that always works but it doesn and then the best part of the episode is THEY TALK ABOUT IT
and mari makes up another excuse for why she doesn't like him as more than a friend, but she does reassure him that they are friends, she just doesn't me like him more than friends, and honestly this is where she dug her own grave yes but think about how HAPPY adrien is to have a friend and especially one marinette dupain cheng to be that friend. we know how important friends are to him and i can't deal with the idea that for so long he wasn't sure if mari like him even as just a friend but this time she confirmed it and just ahhhhh
Tumblr media
i'm also a sucker for adrien protecting mari scenes okay, and seeing him fence hawkmoth is some pretty exciting stuff (and dare i say some potential foreshadowing? >.>)
*ahem* LADRIEN
Tumblr media
LOOK AT THEM SAVE EACH OTHERSSGFDJLGD
the ladynoir interactions are also so good btw like for real this bit:
CN: The worse the situation, the more amazing I realize you are!
LB: How do you do that?
CN: Do what?
LB: If I mean so much to you, how is it so easy for you to say these nice things to me, even in bad situations? The really important things are the hardest to say, aren't they?
CN: It's precisely when it's important that it's important to say it!
THIS IS THE ENTIRE REASON WHY LADYBUG NEEDS CHAT AS HER PARTNER, THIS IS IT. HE GROUNDS HER AND MAKES HER REALIZE SHE DOESN'T NEED TO OVERCOMPLICATE OR CATASTRAPHIZE. THIS HERE IS WHY CHAT IS JUST AS POWERFUL AS LADYBUG HES THE ONLY ONE SHE CAN FEEL SAFE AND REASSURED BY.
Tumblr media
also I don't have time to explain but this was also genuinely the best rehash of an akuma because those wax statues coming to life and pretending to be LB and CN had me terrified.
and we end with this interaction, somehow both heartlifting and heartbreaking:
Tumblr media
M: I shouldn't have kissed that statue. I didn't know it was you, if I had it wouldn't have neem a prank because—
A: No, no! It's my fault! When you left the workshop, I was so worried you were mad at me it made me do this prank and...
M: Of course I wasn't mad! I'm sorry I made you believe that.
A: Is that true? We're still friends?
M: Of course! But maybe we should stop playing pranks on each other!
A: *laughs* I know, I'm not good with jokes. The girl I'm in love with doesn't like them.
M: The girl...you're...you're in love with
Tumblr media
LOOK AT THEM BEING ALMOST HONEST BUT THEY CANT CAUSE THE LOVE SOMEONE ELSE BUT THE PERSON THE LOVE IS RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM AND I JUST I CANT DEAL THIS IS WHY THE LOVE SQUARE IS SO GOOD THIS IS WHY I SHIP THEM SO HARD
i promise, once you get over that 1 minute scene this episode is one of the absolute best and worth far more than any momentary cringe. come on friend i know you can do it

Go Watch the Venture Brothers
So just heard the complete and utter Bullshit news that Adult Swim has cancelled one of (if not the best shows) they have the Venture Bros. This series is one of those shows that for WHATEVER reason never got to the level of fandom Rick and Morty has even though they’ve been at the genre parody game longer and in my opinion better.
The series is about Rusty Venture former boy adventurer and failing super scientist who in an attempt to keep his head above water in debt goes around with his two boys Hank and Dean, and bodyguard Brock on misadventues while various legal archnemisis go after him, such as the Monarch.
So if you never watched or never heard of this 7 season series let me give you a break down on why you should,
1) Art Style & Animation
Venture bros is one of those rare Adult aimed animated series that that really truly tries to utilize their medium to the best of their abilities. Season 1 had like such a small budget and corners had to be cut so it can be a little hard to watch at times.
Tumblr media
But with each passing season they get a little better, a little more fluid, go just a little harder and it truly feels rewarding to watch. Like seeing an artist you follow online improve over the years. Like they COULD have stayed with the choppy and stiff animation from season 1 it fit right in with its fellow adult animated shows but it didn’t. They strove for quality to have something that matched the story they were telling.
Tumblr media
2) The Writing
Venture Bros has some of the tightest and consistently great writing of ANY serialized show I’ve seen, adult, animated or other wise. Wanna know why? Cause it’s all done by TWO people (save for like one ep each season where one other person is allowed to touch their baby). Yeah TWO people and they work their asses off every season to interject, humor, refrences, parody, plot and character development in equal measure.
3) Character Development
Um yes in case you were wondering that’s right an adult animated show has CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT  that holds as the series goes on. Not to give spoilers but characters will go through changes in alignment, relationships will develop and change, some characters will go through negative arcs where they are straight up unbareable for a season before coming out the other side even better than they were before. There is no end of epsiode or even end of season reset. Characters, settings, and dynamics all change over the course of the show and it feels just so god damn good.
Tumblr media
4) Story Development
Just like the characters the story of the Venture Bros grows and changes each season. Things that are set up even as early as season one are paid off as the series goes on. Like not to be that bitch but you know how RIck and Morty teases an overarching plot ALL THE TIME but like will often just spit in the face of fans hoping for more than like one episode a season addressing it? Yeahhhhhhh that doesnt happen here, fans are consistently rewarded for putting the time in to rewatch and really think about what happened in the series. Characters that are seen in the background or are just referenced by other characters will be brought in to be recurring characters, things that start off as a small detail or gag will be given larger relevance and each time they do this you get that “OH I remember that from last season! So thats what it was!” The writers WANT you to rewatch, they WANT you to analyze and they WANT you to theorize, and they give you a show that gives back the time you put in.
Tumblr media
5) Parody & Reference
This series does a great thing with parody. They make real characters  who are just as enjoyable as the characters they parody, they make story lines that both poke fun at the absurdity of the media but shows the writers love for it. So often parody and references are just used to mock the thing but with Venture Bros you feel the love and care so when you know the thing being parodied you can laugh but feel good about laughing cause they are never laughing at a thing maybe you cared for in your youth but rather laughing with it.
And it’s never just one thing. When they parody a thing its often layered with other things to make it even more unique. Scooby-Doo is overlayed with famous criminals, Laura Croft is mixed Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, GI Joe is given the look of the Village People and so on. They never go for the easy joke or reference. Hell theres an episode that starts with them reciting the lyrics to David Bowies Space Oddity for really no reason other than they could. They weave these things in naturally with their setting and characters so nothing feels out of place. Like if you dont catch a reference or parody you dont feel like “I think this isa reference to something?” like a LOT of things do not just adult animated shows. You arent taken out of the moment cause it all feels so natural.
Tumblr media
6) The Characters
God damn these characters, I could go on for hours about these characters. From main to one off these are some of the most likeable characters you can find. I mean it when I say I can’t think of a single character I wish they had cut cause they are all so well created. Even the ones I hate i have fun hating cause they were made to be that way. I’ll be good though I’ll only talk about my absolute top faves.
- The Monarchs
Tumblr media
You ever sit and wish villain couples could have functional  healthy relationships? Well look no further than Malcom Fitzcarraldo aka The Monarch and Dr. Shelia Girlfriend (yes that is her last name). The Monarch is a high strung impulsive saturday morning cartoon villain whos tendency to over react is only matched by his unspecified hatred of Dr. Venture. And Dr. G is his nonsense partner in crime who will cut a bitch if they don’t play by their admittedly weird rules. Both characters are great on their own but are better together. Though that doesnt mean they always get along. Like a real couple they have their ups and downs they fight, break up, make-up and grow stronger in their relationship with each season.
- Shore Leave
Tumblr media
Ok ok so I want you to imagine James Bond, mixed with GI Joe simmering in a cocktail of the most flamboyant gay men you have ever seen and you have one of my favorite gay characters/characters in general. Shore Leave is a member of OSI (the shows SHEILD/GI Joe parody organization) he’s loud, brash, flippant, sassy and highly competent at his job loving every second of getting to beat bad guys down within an inch of their life. I love seeing him play off the stoic Brock and the two have this great brotherly dynamic that’s never called into question. He also gets to have a very cute romance with Al the Alchemist (who is also great). I could talk about this man all day.
- Dr. Rusty Venture
Tumblr media
They did such a good job with this man. He’s a self serving, sexist, perverted, whinny, self important asshole and yet you feel pity and genuine sympathy for him and want him to succeed. You can see how Dr. V was given a raw deal by his father who seemed to care more about his adventures than his sons well being and how this molded him into the bitter man he is today, but on the flip side you can see where he chose to use that as a crutch for his worst behaviors and impulses. Seeing him slowly grow and change and be an actual good father to his boys while all the while still be a giant dick is actually really great.
- Dr. Byron Orpheus
Tumblr media
Ahhhhh Dr. Orpheus part Dr. Strange Parody part busybody stay at home dad, he’s just such a delight. Dr. Orpheus is a divorcee, with an unfulfilling job of maintaining order to the cosmos (which isnt as hard as one might think), and uses his magical ablities in ways most of us would (ie menial tasks and home chores). Overly dramatic and affectionate Dr. O is a delight whenever he appears, but he’s at his best around his daughter and old friends The Order of the Triad.
Again I can go on but all these characters ranging from main to recurring are crafted with the utmost care for you to want to see them succeed or fail, to see them again even if you know it’ll never happen, and want them to cross paths with other characters.
Tumblr media
The Venture Bros is one of those series that I will ALWAYS recommend even to the pickiest of humor tastes. But if you don’t believe its as good as I said or don’t think the concept is to your tastes I’ll recommend a few eps that I think best show off the base idea of the series without giving much away. In terms of plot and spoilers, though somethings wont make a lot of sense.
- S1 ep10 "Tag Sale – You're It!" - Dr. V is having a yard sale so of course all manner of costumed weirdos show up.  - S2 ep5 "Twenty Years to Midnight" - basically a fetch quest around the world to save the planet with daddy issues - S3 ep2 "The Doctor Is Sin" - Again daddy issues but with one of the best recurring characters and a great showcase of the series deeper emotional plots - S4 ep6 "Self-Medication" - Really embraces the parody as Rusty goes to a former boy adventurer support group.  Anyway the show is 7 seasons with 80 episodes, please go watch it. I will never forgive @adultswim for cancelling what was to be their final season. And in closing GO TEAM VENTURE!

Since I'm rewatching s1 I've found so many August scenes I love and didn't remember they existed, so I'm wondering what are your top 5 favorite August scenes?
HI 💕💗💕 Thank you SO much for indulging me Bee <3 I hope you're enjoying your rewatch.
Without too much preamble, here are my top 5 favourite August scenes:
1. The ‘fixing things’ scene (S1, EP 20)
Tumblr media
I know that I don’t shut up about this scene ever but that’s because it STILL remains to be my favourite scene in the entire show.
There's just something so special about this scene that really cuts me very deeply and makes me feel things.
In August's head, this is it. He's failed, Emma isn't breaking the curse, and he'll soon turn back into a puppet and, without magic, die. And not ONLY die, but die in the most humiliating way possible for him. Because becoming a puppet again meant that he had let down the Blue Fairy and let down his father and let down himself.
But here! Here!!! Marco welcomes him in and he reassures him (despite technically not even knowing him) that August hasn't failed. That, in spite of everything he's done, he would have been enough for his father, because his father has always loved him unconditionally.
August finally gets to spend time with his dad, after being separated for the past 28 years, and the whole interaction (including the heartbreaking OST) just really, really gets to me.
2.  The well scene (S1, EP 13)
Tumblr media
Okay, there are a couple of things I love about this scene. Firstly, him and Emma both look really cute, so jot that down. Secondly, the scene starts with him saying, "say what you want about me, but I always tell the truth," and I just think it's so unbelievably funny when he lies about lying. Go on king! Keep lying about stuff you have absolutely no reason to lie about! Thirdly, I just love his little speech about water. Like, YEAH, water is kind of magical, and it's just such a fun little speech.
Plus, these two have such a good rapport with one another and this scene shows off the way the play off one another really well.
3.  August reveals to Emma that he was the seven year old boy from the newspaper (S1, EP 20)
Tumblr media
This scene, I swear...
I think the thing that really gets me when it comes to this scene is just how emotionally charged both of them are. During an initial watch, you feel bad for Emma because she's just trying to be there for the son she now has in her life and she's constantly being bombarded with strange events and people telling her that she's only one that can save the town and it's a lot.
On a rewatch, however, you not only have Emma's side of the story, but there's really a fuller understanding of August's perspective (particularly with Season 2 in mind). He thinks he will die if Emma doesn't break the curse. She's literally his last hope at this point. He's tried talking with the Dragon, tried subtly getting Emma to believe, tried forcing Gold to fix things and this was it!! This was his FINAL chance! And it fell through as well! And he was left with nothing!!!
Both of them are just so upset and it's such a heavy scene and I love it so much.
4. Teen!August flashback scene (S6, EP 11)
Tumblr media
Firstly, this scene is just very sweet. There's such a hopefulness to August at this point in his life and its very touching to see. And it's nice to see him really, genuinely trying here. Trying to help Emma, for both their sake, and trying to do the right thing, so that one day they might both be reunited with their parents.
But also? ...It's about...the implications. I've mentioned this a few times before but, to me, this scene really cements the possibility that August was a) homeless for a little while at some point in his life (since he's clearly relating to Emma here) and b) I just get the vibe that August is still in foster care at this point (or has left to do his own thing). He tells Emma that just because her current group home is bad, it doesn't mean she won't find a better one someday. To me? That's him not only trying to convince Emma of that, but also trying to convince himself.
Anyway, I love seeing any snippets of August's past (no matter how brief or vague) and this was just such a tender scene.
5. His talk with the Dragon (S2, EP18)
Tumblr media
Felt that it would be rude not to mention at least ONE scene from this episode, so here we are.
I just really, really like the necklace here. The string being made out of his original 'puppet string' is just such a lovely detail and his letting go of that carried so much weight. It really showed just how much he'd lost his way, how much he'd lost sight of his former self and his original goal ect. How he had to sacrifice that past in order to save his present/future. It's just a really emotional scene with a lot of weight and I'm a sucker for angst so YEAH I love it a lot.
---
(quick special mentions go to the ‘lemur’ conversation with Ruby (S1, EP ), his conversation with Emma about writers block (S1, EP 18), this deleted scene (S1, EP 16), and the ‘unvarnished truth’ scene with Henry (S1, EP 21))
And yes, Wish Realm Pinocchio would have been on here too if he wasn’t technically a different character to August... I adore Pinocchio and August in every form and WR!Pinocchio was an absolute joy and a pleasure to see on screen.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Season 5 Retrospective
Finished season 5 rewatch a few days ago. Season 5 was an eventful year for the show, on and off the screen. Off screen the show got cancelled on Fox, had a huge public outcry over the cancellation which included several celebrities, and then got picked up by NBC all in 48 hours. It was an exhilarating time as a B99 fan. Lot of stuff happened on screen as well, Jake and Rosa were in prison, team got them out, Jake and Amy got engaged, Rosa came out as bisexual to the precinct and her parents, Holt was in the running to be NYPD Commissioner, Amy became a Sergeant, and then Jake and Amy got married. Eventful season to say the least. Its also my favorite season of the show.
Honestly, this season is about as close to perfection I felt with a season. In other seasons there are at least an episode or two which I felt were meh or problematic. Season 5 is near flawless. I think Return to Skyfire is the weakest of the episodes but its still pretty fun. There are several episodes of season 5 that all rank in the top 10 B99 episodes in my opinion. The show also takes some risks with a couple of experimental episodes. There are episodes with a lot of heart, there are episodes that absolutely hilarious, there are ensemble episodes, there are two hander episode. some excellent new guest stars, and many great recurring stars.
I think the two prison episodes are pretty interesting. Tim Meadows as Caleb is absolutely amazing. He is so likable and low key hilarious that the fact that he's a cannibal who eats children always feels like a dark surprise. He and Andy Samberg make for a fun duo. The first of the two episodes is particularly fun. The show doesn't hesitate to show the danger of Jake being in the prison, especially the situation he finds himself by the end of the premiere. The show does connect one story to the next pretty seamlessly with the end of the Melanie Hawkins story connecting the the Seamus Murphy story which then connected to the Holt commissioner story. There are also a couple of really good experiments in experiments and story with The Box and Show Me Going. The Box is B99 at its most confident. Apart from Gina very briefly at the beginning and Boyle very briefly at the end, the entire episode really hinges on only three characters. Jake, Holt, and Sterling K. Brown's Dr. Davidson. Its a brilliant showcase for all three actors and all three characters. I believe Brown got a Guest Actor Emmy nomination for his performance and he's brilliant as the smarmy Dentist who really is in control for majority of the episode. Braugher and Samberg were old pros with their dynamic at this point and this is fantastic Jake and Holt episode because you completely get why Jake wants so badly to prove that he's right in front of Holt why being cast as the screw up and the idiot in the interrogation frustrates him so much because we know how much Holt's approval means to him. We also see why Terry call Jake his best detective back in season 1 because of how he riles up Davidson to get the confession at the end and getting the approval of Holt that he wanted. Its an incredibly satisfying episode and one of the show's best imo. Then there is also 'Show me Going' which is a surprisingly tense episode in which nothing tense actually happens on screen. The episode does a great job working with the fact that the only knowledge the squad has is that Rosa is on the scene of an active shooter situation. Basically we are in the same situation as the characters. Since all the characters are on edge, so are we. The show does a nice job balancing humor and recognize the danger of the situation.
The season has probably my favorite B99 episode and definitely by fav B99 Halloween episode with HalloVeen. Whereas the last three Halloween episodes were predictable or spoiled from the promos, this one actually threw a genuine surprise. I knew Jake and Amy would get engaged some point in the season, but I expected it to be on the much hyped 99th episode. Instead it can much earlier with HallowVeen and its a delight from start to finish. Its great to rewatch the episode because you pick up little signs that Jake was a bit more desperate to win than usual. First when he says that planning for the heist is what got him through prison time, and then when he says to Boyle that he has to win this time and this heist is way too important. On first watch, these details just slip by as regular overzealous Jake but they have additional poignancy on repeat. The actual proposal moment is handled beautifully in a very peraltiago way where it is both funny and romantic, with Charles' reaction being the cherry on top. There are quite a few strong related episodes that follow. The Venue being a fun return with the Vulture, Two Turkeys being a TWW reunion with Smits and Whitford returning as Amy and Jake's fathers. Its a better Thanksgiving episode than the previous season Smits appearance. Bachelor/ette party is another glorious episode with wild, fun shenanigans with Reginald VelJohnson appearing as himself. Jake & Amy is a very typical wedding episode where everything goes wrong but its perfect in all the right ways. Its heartwarming and sweet. You get more examples of how Jake and Amy are perfect for each other with Jake knowing the inside and outs of how Amy stresses out, and then ending on a wonderful B99 wedding with Fred Armisen returning to make a cameo appearance as Mlep(clay)nos. The episode was designed to work as a series finale since the potential for cancellation was there and while it leaves the season on a cliffhanger about Holt's job, its the sort of cliffhanger that we could have interpreted positively if the show hadn't gotten picked up by NBC.
The 99th and 100th episode of the show were also memorable. The creators chose to acknowledge the 99th episode in a way that most shows acknowledge the 100th episode, in true 99 style. Its a full ensemble episode barring the absence of Chelsea who would return on the 100th episode. Its a typical road trip episode which kickstarts the Holt commissioner storyline. It also is the episode where Rosa comes out as Bi to Charles. This was obviously a big story for Stephanie since she is bi as well and she championed this story. It gets explored in further depth next episode, but Stephanie Beatriz gets to do some of her best work in these two episodes, showing her vulnerability without losing her toughness. Game Night honestly feels very true to not just coming out as Bi to your parents but true to any child who has to confess something that would be against their conservatives parents' values. I think Game Night is a fantastically bittersweet episode and Danny Trejo is brilliantly cast as Rosa's father. The episode positions him as the parent whose reaction Rosa is most worried about and I love how they show that while its difficult for him to grasp the concept bisexuality, he comes around to accepting it and accepting Rosa. But the episode is still bittersweet with Rosa's mom not having come to terms with it. Its also an excellent Rosa and Jake episode where we see Jake endure incredibly uncomfortable situations to help Rosa. Its a characteristic that helps make Jake so endearing that he's willing to cross all limits for his friends.
There are lots of fun and hilarious episodes in between. Craig Robinson shows up as Doug Judy in The Negotiations which is another fun ep. Kevin and Jake get a great episode dealing with their dynamic in Safe House. Rosa and Amy have some fun in White Whale as the Sleuth Sisters. Pimento returns in Gray Star Mutual for some more crazy shenanigans. Gray Star Mutual also has my favorite cold open of all time with Jake leading a suspect lineup in a rendition of 'I got it that way', totally forgetting the crime that he's got the lineup for. Its pitch perfect and I've lost count of how many times I've seen that cold open on youtube. It basically has its own fanbase and introduced so many people to B99. We also get to see Naseem Pedrad as Jake's sister Katie and the end up having a cute dynamic. David Fumero shows up in The Puzzle Master. There are also pretty funny episodes dealing with some serious subject matter such Jake dealing with his own doubts in his ability to do his job after Prison in Kicks and Holt dealing with gambling addiction in Bad Beat. All handled very sensitively.
All in all, this was a fantastic season for the show. I had a blast rewatching it and it ended the Fox era in spectacular note. A 9.5/10. Now on to season 6.

Hi Axelle! I love your 'favorite shows of 2021' post, it's absolutely gorgeous and as always you create beautiful GIFs! I wanted to ask you though, if you don't mind, why you chose each show and how the selection process went? Have a great day 😊
hi anon! thank you so much it means a lot ♡♡♡ I can absolutely do that, y'all know I love talking about shows I love!!! for the selection process, I have this list I keep of all the shows I watched this year which came in extremely handy, as well as my video ranking all the 2021 shows I watched that will come out in january on my channel. so I just look at every show & create a ranking, as well as listen to my feelings bc certain shows might’ve touched me more despite a lower grade, or the opposite. you'll see examples of that in my actual list:
bad buddy: I don't love choosing shows that are still airing, but this one became an instant favorite & kept making my weeks better so frankly it's my fave show of the year. it's the show that made me feel the most things in 2021 (except for not me which hasn't aired enough to be in the 2021 ranking but will deffo be in the 2022 one ;)), and just for that it deserves the number one place :)
1000 stars: a really touching & beautiful story that I'm planning to rewatch before the end of the year. definitely also an amazing series on every level, p'aof really is ruling this year's ranking lmao
blackout: in terms of cinematography, sound design, set design, execution... this is one of the most impressive shows I've EVER seen. it's literally so underrated but revolutionary, & deserves WAY more love. the fact that the four first eps can be synched despite being filmed at different angles is INCREDIBLE.
light on me: also one of the rare shows I was genuinely invested in this year, and for me the characters were really the highlight of it, I loved them all so much. great, great show, even for a love triangle hater like me :')
the debut: extremely underrated thai drama, as all non bl thai dramas almost always are. this one is super dark & fucked up, the plot twists shook me to my core, the acting was fantastic & it was a really well executed story that I couldn't recommend more.
squid game: won't say much bc well, everyone has heard of this show lol. it was incredibly good & even though it won't be one of my all-time favorite shows, it's still very much worth the hype imo.
mad for each other: incredibly lovable & flawed characters, deals with mental health, them going slowly from enemies to lovers was made really well & felt natural, and it was overall a really engaging story. I had a lot of fun, and I'm also OBSESSED with the female lead's character design! (and the female lead in general ngl chdhbshucid)
to my star: I didn't expect to love this one as much as I did, yet it's the show I rewatched the most in 2021 bc it's simply such an efficient story with really compelling characters that take an otherwise basic korean bl like the 15 others that came out in the past year, yet elevated it enough that it's one of my faves kbl ever with light on me & where your eyes linger. it's just very lovely & quirky in its own way, which I really enjoyed.
remember you: as someone who hasn't seen the original kdrama, I genuinely really enjoyed this show & found that it combined the thriller aspects of it very well with my fave thing ever, character development. I also found the acting to be really great & the tension maintained throughout the whole show really worked for me.
golden blood: this one is my guilty pleasure of this list lol, when my video on the official ranking will come out you'll see a couple other shows ranked higher bc they had higher grades, but this is one of the rare shows that truly kept me hooked for 8 weeks. I found the series quite original, I loved the characters & especially the main ship's dynamic. it's a highly flawed show yet I know it'll stay a favorite for many years to come, so even though I'm very biased about it, I had to put it on the list <3

#5 least favorite episode. If its hard to pick one then 3-5 eps that you always skip on rewatches
LOL Well this is definitely an unpopular opinion because I know all the Begins episodes are popular...
But the episodes that I don't think I'd ever willingly subject myself to again are Hen Begins, Eddie Begins, and Buck Begins.
Under the cut because HOOBOY I got a bit ranty
The latter two make me LOATHE the titular character, especially Buck Begins, (which is... Not what an episode like that is going to do).
And I will never forgive Hen Begins for retconning her legitimately really good/interesting reason for becoming a firefighter (which she mentioned in Dosed) just to do a cliche "I hated my job/didn't know my place in the world until I found this".
Like how interesting would it have been to NOT retcon her origin story and then build on that? Maybe show just how toxic Hen's relationship with Eva was right from the start - that she was always "encouraging" Hen into not doing the thing she's passionate about, or that she wants to do. Telling Hen that "You are always going to be looked down on because of your relationship with me, wouldn't you rather a job where that won't be as much of an issue?" Just constantly pushing her away from what Hen truly feels called to do.
And even better? She could maybe have been studying to be a nurse, because as field that traditionally has mostly women in it, it's something that Eva would consider "acceptable", but it's at least CLOSE to what Hen really wishes that she could be doing. And then Eva gets in trouble and Hen finally is free of that toxic influence - something she hadn't realized she was even trapped by. And she decides... why NOT do the thing that she feels called to do.
Her journey could have been about the struggle to reach the dream that she always felt called to, not... whatever the hell it is that we got.
But no. She was a damn software rep... or whatever it was, and literally nothing interesting or insightful happened in that episode.
Of the three I probably hate Eddie Begins the least, because that plot was inspired by a true story that I'm familiar with so I enjoy it from that perspective. Plus, I love Shannon so it was great to see her again But GOD the episode was so poorly done. The war flashbacks were legitimately just Boring As All Hell, the flashbacks that revolved around his relationship with Shannon showed exactly how awful a person that Eddie is (and that HE was legitimately the ableist one since he reenlisted SPECIFICALLY because of Christopher's "illness"), and showed that his relationship with Shannon was toxic and unhealthy 80% because of HIM.
And as much as I liked the kid-in-the-well case, it made NO sense for the focus of that case to be Eddie just because he Has A Kid. Like it's a story about a child who might DIE, and the focus isn't on Bobby whose children DID die? It's a story about how a mother might lose her child, and the focus wasn't on Athena who once found her daughter "dead" after a suicide attempt? It's a story about a mother who fears she might lose her son, and the focus isn't on Hen who is constantly worried that Eva will come back into her life and take her son away from her. No, let's just focus it on Eddie because he Has A Kid.
Of the three, while Hen Begins is the one I like the least, Buck Begins is the one that makes me the most genuinely ANGRY because of how awful Buck is in it. Like if we had gotten that stupid-ass episode any closer to the lawsuit arc I don't think I'd ever find it in me to like him again, but because there was some distance between the two arcs I'm able to like him when he's not being a self-obsessed asshat who doesn't care about anybody but himself, doesn't empathize with anybody else's feelings, and will treat his Extremely Pregnant Sister like shit because of something she legitimately had no control over.
Because the fact of the matter is, that episode showed beyond a shadow of a doubt that Buck doesn't actually care about other people. All he cares about is how other people make him feel. Helping other people makes him feel good, and that's the only reason he wants to do it. It's not to help others, which is the reason everybody else does that job. It's all about him. And that's evidenced throughout the episode, as he cannot even bring himself to empathize with Maddie or how hard all of that would have been for her.
And do not even get me started on the damn jeep!
Sure, when Maddie gave him the jeep but wouldn't go with him he didn't know about Doug, but the fact that he was STILL ANGRY in present day that "Maddie sent me away" even now that he KNOWS how abusive Doug was literally makes me want to never ever like him again. Also??? HE DIDN'T NEED TO LEAVE!!! She gave him money and transportation, but didn't tell him he had to leave! He could have used the money to rent an apartment in Hershey and that would have been fine. So the fact that he twisted it into her sending him away, and even YEARS LATER after getting the context of her abusive relationship STILL BEING ANGRY ABOUT IT???
Yeah I'm sorry... but that episode ruined Buck for me even more than that stupid-ass lawsuit arc did, and if I think about it too long it makes me genuinely loathe him.

It's a shame that X had its really weirdly OOC moments for Eggman (most prominently in season 3, which you might have seen my criticism post of in the past) because aside from that, I personally adore X Eggman for the things they did get right. I feel that they still captured multiple important aspects of his character quite well.
The things I feel they got right were his loud, confident, and rude demeanor, the skill of his manipulation tactics, the way he actually did have his share of pretty damn evil moments despite the humor, the way that, for quite a while across seasons, he evidently didn't give a damn about anyone else and not even what planet he was on as long as he could conquer it. I didn't mind how humorous things could get because I love every time he's evil and a jerk but makes a game of it just as much as I love to see him get serious, and he still did the latter when necessary. And if you've seen that other analysis post of mine, I also really liked the moments where they presented his lack of empathy well. ( Which they really fucked up later but still, it was great while it lasted :') )
That's what makes the OOC moments all the more disappointing and surprising because he had a lot going for him earlier on, when it was accurately capturing his important assets that really make him feel like himself. It's weird that the stuff he does in season 3 legitimately contradicts things he did in previous episodes of the show. Like it wasn't even a case of character development as some might try to argue (which I wouldn't have wanted either way because it doesn't work for him period lol) but it came out of nowhere and made no fuckin sense for his personality and actions we'd seen on earlier eps. It was so jarring
But besides that, I still treasure it for the positives. To this day, X Eggman brings me as much joy as he did back when the show was one of the first pieces of Sonic media I consumed. I still have to give it credit for the way it really helped fall in love with him even more, since the only two games I'd played at the time was Heroes and Shadow 2005, where he hardly got any focus. Despite not seeing much of him prior, I was still lucky to recognize that the OOC moments in X weren't right for a character like him, instead of it letting it lead me to the false belief that he's not so bad of a guy. It was all his best evil asshole moments and fantastic humor that was making me fall for him all the while instead.
Yeah maybe it is thanks to my huge nostalgic fondness that makes the OOC moments easier for me to rewatch it without getting too frustrated to the point I don't enjoy the rest of his portrayal. Especially considering that I watch the English dub the most lol. I get not liking it for how much they fucked up but man, Imo it's still worth watching for Mike Pollock's performance alone, as from the very beginning he already suited Eggman perfectly and brought so much charm and humor in the best way. In the present, I still can't stop smiling at and the jokes never miss with me, he's the only one I genuinely find funny when a lot of the jokes usually don't land with the other characters.
The OOC moments do of course still bother me all the same as I care a lot about how accurately Eggman is portrayed in any media. I'll never hesitate to call out the flaws in the writing and characterization (hell, I literally had that Eggman X supercut I made get interrupted a text rant about why that one bs line in ep 67 really bothered me lol) but I can't deny that as a whole, it will always have a very special place in my heart and it's currently still my favorite Sonic show ever. I hope Prime presents an Eggman with an attitude as great as earlier X Eggman had, without the OOC stuff this time. Not gonna get my hopes up, but it'd be nice.

Top 5 Violetta episodes
i'm like so bad at remembering specific episodes but i'll try!!
5. 02x40
i haven't rewatched s1 in a while so i'm opting for a s2 episode here, but unlike the other four it didn't come to my mind right away!
i really really like 02x40, it has como quieres, i love how fun the episode is as a whole, leon and lara have some cute moments and i LOVE seeing vilu and lara supporting each other to help leon go to the show, and like? the whole part about violetta buying time for him? her tantrums about not having her shoes? when she pretended to FAINT? i love it so so much, it gives me the same vibes as si es por amor!vilu, aka very different from we're used too but just as enjoyable. also that part when leon finally gets there and leonetta lock eyes and you can see their happiness....chief's kiss. and i really like the dieletta kiss too, if we exclude leonetta's makeout session in the movie it's the most aesthetically pleasing kiss in the show imo
4. 02x01
the colours, the happiness, the good vibes, HOY SOMOS MAS, everyone seeing each other again, the dramatics......i just love it so so much, this episode is by far the best opening episode in the series, and i have so many good memories related to it, like waiting for SO LONG to finally watch it, seeing the commercials on disney channel and almost falling from my chair when i realized i wouldn't have to ever see tomas again...i love it
3. 01x80
the best opening ep deserves to be in the top 5 but the best finale deserves to be in the top 3!! the s1 finale is UNMATCHED nothing slapped as hard as this one. francesca and violetta both ditching tomas and empowering themselves by putting their relationship first, the vilu/ludmila hug, SER MEJOR, and most of all.....The Scene, you know the one, it's so iconic i don't even have to say it. on god german hearing violetta's voice for the first time might be the most emotional scene in the entire show, like there's a reason we all have a love/hate relationship with german, and personally when i watch s1 and s2 most of the time i'm like "where the fuck is the love in this love/hate relationship" because i'm always 3s away from murdering him. and then you have this scene, or soy mi mejor momento in s2 and you see the happiness on his and vilu's faces and you're like damn......i do care
ANYWAY best finale by far it makes me want to cry and scream from happiness
2. 01x35
leonetta's early relationship. that's it they're just absolutely perfect. that te creo scene is one of my favorite ever, gregorio's class when he calls leon out because he can't stop staring at vilu and she's not better at all, the way they're all cute and wholesome with each other, fran, camila and maxi's reaction when vilu tells them she's dating leon, vilu happily telling german she has a bf, THEY'RE JUST. they overshadow everything in this episode it's THEIR time, i love them so much
1. 02x75
romance was invented that day idc. it might genuinely be the best episode in the entire show like it's THAT good, and not just for leonetta. it's the culmination of 75eps worth of wait and anticipation, it's diego's storyline reaching its peak right before the fall, THE climax of the season, and it's handled so beautifully. fran and leon's respect for vilu, the way she finds out about it, THAT MIROR SCENE WITH LEON like the care, the love in every word. and obviously, OBVIOUSLY. podemos. there's a reason that most people who don't even care about leonetta love this scene too, it's just...such a good moment, podemos is already THE violetta love song like nothing can top it, it's so powerful and beautiful, but this scene genuinely made the song a thousand times better. it's the way he goes on stage and for a moment he's the only person in the world to her, every single one of his gestures, every time he touches her, whether it's her face or her hands or her waist (you have NO IDEA what that spin where his hand lingers on her waist makes me feel it's so PURE) is so so so full of love it's just unbelievable. it's also the parallel of diego's "te haré mi princesa hoy con un beso" opposed to leon's "no soy un príncipe azul, tan solo soy" and while it's probably accidental symbolism it's THERE and it breaks me every time.
it's also the satisfaction of seeing diego fall while knowing he's gonna hurt you too once he'll reach the ground. amazing sensation, would 100% recommend. 02x75 is THE violetta episode because it resolves so many things in the best way possible and it's just.....genuinely so so good

hello!! i just wanted to ask- i wanna do an ouat rewatch bc CAPTAIN SWANN but its pretty long and i honestly dont care for the other characters/how badly the overall writing was handled.. which are your favourite captain swan eps? anything them centered and i think ill just skip around to rewatch their romance as they did invent romance 😭😭 ty in advance <3
they absolutely did invent romance, you are right about that and i love them so much
UHMMMM as far as my favorite CS eps, here’s a roadmap of what I personally consider key eps in their journey (some of this is from memory but I haven’t done a full rewatch in a while so i’m going through the episode list as a refresher)
2x06: Tallahassee--this is a must-watch ep for any CS fan, and I really think this is the episode that sparked the fire that CS would become as a fandom. It has everything--flirtatious banter, all kinds of tension, deliberate parallels drawn between Emma and Killian’s pasts, as well as their first meeting being intercut with her relationship with Neal (which serves, especially in hindsight, to highlight just how sketchy that relationship was, and why she couldn’t bring herself to trust Killian--because the last time she felt this way about anyone, it ended horribly)
2x08 and 2x09: Into the Deep and Queen of Hearts--these episodes cover the race to the portal between Emma&co and Hook/Cora and while they don’t do a ton for CS as a relationship since they’re still enemies at this point, it lays great foundation for their future relationship development. Plus, sexy swordfight, Hook going out of his way to save Aurora’s heart--he may be a pirate, but he has standards ok--and Emma realizing Cora can’t remove her heart without her permission? Poetic Cinema
2x11: The Outsider--more of a Killian-centric episode, it shows a lot of Killian at his worst but it’s necessary for his overall character arc and I genuinely love looking back and seeing just how far he managed to come, to the point of eventually even letting go of his (very understandable) grudge against Rumplestiltskin.
2x12: In the Name of the Brother--am I including this purely for Emma&Hook banter in the hospital, and Killian saying ‘hey beautiful’ when he’s lying on the road because he just got hit by a fucking car? You bet I am. Also, go to youtube and look up ‘ouat season two deleted scene jello’, because it’s beautiful and there was a tremendous outcry in the fandom when we realized it had been cut from the episode lmao (It’s also the episode that made me start shipping Frankenwolf, which I’m still sad never went anywhere, but they had a lot of potential and great chemistry.)
2x22: And Straight On Till Morning--A few of the episodes in between have some fun minor interactions and flashbacks (and I always approve of episodes where Killian gets one up on Rumple, so 2x15 is fun for me if i ignore all the Neal bits) but the finale is where we finally get a glimpse of who Killian could be beyond his need for revenge. He didn’t have to come back, he didn’t have to bring back the bean and help the town--but he did.
Season 3a: there’s a lot of really good stuff here for Hook and Emma that is interwoven between the A plots of other episodes. I think, as far as half-season arcs go, it’s one of the best (and everything after 4a bombed hard, but I digress) But there are a few episodes that stand out if you don’t want to watch the whole season. (I recommend starting with the premier though, it was a really solid season starter overall.)
3x05: Good Form--this is the culmination of David’s poisoned-by-dreamshade arc, and is also Peak Captain Charming Bromance. Hook not only keeping David’s secret, but doing everything he can to help save him??? Poetic cinema. It also provides some crucial Killian backstory, showing how he lost his brother to the very same dreamshade. Plus, the character development--Pan offers Killian a chance to escape the island with Emma if he kills David, and instead, he saves him, refusing the deal and damn the consequences. Also also? The first CS kiss which drove the fandom WILD.
3X06: Ariel--not only to I love OUaT’s take on Ariel, but this episode has the infamous Echo Cave scene, which involves a lot of feelsy confessions and Killian being the one to tell everyone that Neal is alive and helping Emma save him despite his own growing feelings for her.....IT’S JUST A LOT AND I LOVE IT.
3x07: Dark Hallow--oh man, I’d forgotten about this episode, but it has Killian and Neal fighting over Emma, which may sound eye-roll worthy, but Emma is allowed to tear them a new one about it and it’s one of the few times she’s allowed to actually???? put her own feelings first so I have to include it here on spec
3x11 and 3x12: Going Home and New York City Serenade--these mark the end of 3a and start of 3b respectively, and it has some amazing shit like Killian vowing never to forget Emma and Emma smiling as she replies, “Good.” And then she and Henry are in New York with their memories completely altered, but Killian shows up because Storybrooke is back and in jeopardy, and he helps Emma get back to her family and her home and, much later, Emma finds out he sold the Jolly Roger to be able to do it and it’s just. It’s beautiful ok.
3x17: The Jolly Roger--there’s honestly not a whole lot in the back half of season 3 (until the CS movie) but of course anything named for Hook is a must-watch, and this is where we get the iconic line I swear on Emma Swan--which is Killian saying he’s in love with her before he even realizes it. We also find out just what he did to Ariel, and his attempts to make amends are what lead to Zelena being able to curse him, so it’s great from a character perspective as well.
The next four episodes round out the end of the season, and there’s a lot of great stuff in them--Hook refusing to get Emma to kiss him, but Emma feeling like she can’t trust him because he didn’t tell her about the curse to begin with, and then kissing him anyway to save his life regardless of the consequences.... but the only ones that are absolutely necessary are the final two episodes.
They are colloquially termed ‘The Captain Swan Movie’ for a reason, after all.
Killian and Emma essentially have an entire Time Travel adventure all to themselves, where they accidentally ruin her parents first meeting and have to fix it so that she’ll even be born, Emma finally getting into the storybook, the pair of them dancing at a ball, Killian rushing to save Emma only for her to get out of the cell herself, because “The only one who saves me is me.” Killian saying “I would go to the ends of the world for her... or time.” Finally fixing the timeline and making it back to Storybrooke and Killian feeling like he doesn’t deserve a place at the table so he doesn’t go inside, but Emma comes out to him anyway and finds out he gave up the Jolly Roger for her, the true start to their relationship...... IM CRYING JUST THINKING ABOUT IT I’M SORRY.
I personally really enjoyed 4a, the Frozen arc was one of the last good half-season arcs of the show, but a lot of people disliked it so it’s really up to interpretation. I don’t have as many Intense Opinions on this season (except hating almost everything about 4b and the queens of darkness arc), but I will say the episodes with good Killian/CS moments are 4x02 (Emma nearly freezes to death, Killian is desperate to save her, Captain Charming teamwork, my heart hurts), 4x04 (Emma asks Killian out on a real date, he tries to get his real hand back from Gold, things go massively awry and he winds up back under Gold’s thumb), 4x08 (Killian tries to save Emma from Gold’s plans), 4x11 (the 4a finale is just great in general), and then..... it cannot be overstated how much I hate season 4b, but 4x15 is the Killian-centric ep where his past with Ursula is revealed and he makes amends to her in order to get her to leave the QoD alliance and it’s great character stuff for him, and then there’s the season 4 finale.
Both parts are worth watching, if only because Deckhand Coward Hook still being a braver, more heroic man than ‘Hero Rumplestiltskin’ warms the very cockles of my heart, and of course the second part of the finale has him helping Henry to save Emma and it’s beautiful and also Emma watches him die for her and it is angsty as FUCK but gods I love it. Here’s where it gets tricky, though--my recommendation is, turn the episode off right after Emma finds Killian back in the present day of Storybrooke and they reunite.
Just turn off the episode there and skip right ahead to the s6 musical episode (Emma and Killian’s wedding ep) and pretend they got married and none of seasons 5 or 6 ever happened. >.> (Although I will say certain parts of the Underworld arc were incredibly feelsy despite how much I overall hated the season: 5x11 (the 5a finale, Killian as the dark one STILL being a better man than rumple, we love to see it), 5x15 (I am not immune to Brothers Jones feelings ok), 5x20 (emma literally takes a True Love Test trying to find a way to save killian, you don’t get more romantic than that--also Killian telling Emma to promise she won’t put her armor back up just because she lost him again??? my HEART), 5x21 (Hook does what he can from the Underworld anyway and zeus sends him back to Emma, they really just said ‘today I will invent romance’ and then Did That)
And then, yeah, just skip to the wedding. It’s beautiful, I enjoyed the music, personally, though I know musical episodes are hit or miss with most people. And if you turn it off when the last musical number starts (after the wedding ceremony, I believe) you can pretend it was the end of the show! =DDD
.....Oh my god I just rambled for years. I HOPE YOU FIND THIS USEFUL, ANON. I 100% support a CS-centered rewatch, their episodes were consistently some of the best across the entire series, and they are truly one of my favorite romances of all time.
