london is SUPER expensive 😭 you gotta book your train tickets in advance otherwise you could pay up to like £200 (230 dollars) but then you have to think of hotels and oh my god!! so expensive 😭😭 if i ever get to see one of my favourite groups, its definitely an experience i will treasure forever 🥰😭

aw :( thats the only downside of getting into groups late imo. getting back into shinee last year (i was a fan around 2014-2015 for a bit then fell out of kpop completely) just made me like. genuinely miss never being able to see jonghyun in concert (like, in-person). i kinda have a list of like... things i'd go back in time to see live/in-person if i could, and i think one of the shinee concerts with ot5 is pretty damn high on that list (also on that list are a couple musicals that i'd love to see the obc of).

first and foremost let me start with the elephant in the room LMAO but,,,,,,,b*s does not make the best music ever/did not pave the way/aren’t the most talented group in MY opinion (god willing i have not receive any hate before and hopefully it doesn't start today LOL) but!! it’s true, and coming from a former fan too!! and i think it’s great that a*my cherish them because they are a great group of guys who are very sweet and hard working but i just find their recent music very lack luster and dare i say doesn’t even sound like kpop. and like!! that’s not a bad thing at all!! just not my thing hehe...i actually encourage ppl to branch out listening to one group only bc listening to many groups makes u appreciate how hard everyone works and it makes u realize that all idols are in the same boat ya know :D which is cool <33 really no hate, it’s just an unpopular opinion of mine !!!

kpop is better than american pop music! and idk if that’s unpopular especially in other cultures but i know if i said this in a room full of my fellow americans who listen to post malone/megan thee stallion/juice wrld/halsey i would probably be burned at the stake LOL!!! but....very true like if you told me to name the top 10 songs on the US charts right now i could absolutely NOT tell you one bit of information bc i have been listening to kpop nonstop for nearly 3 years now hehe. i find american pop to be extremely boring, with no layers or buildups or even an ounce of depth; very much single toned music that i simply do not vibe to! kpop gives me goosebumps like its a whole EXPERIENCE and even the whole theatric nature of it all is so amazing to see! the music videos are another level and i dont even mean the dancing! the editing and colors/textures and the vision these directors have are so state of the art. i don’t want to see a rapper stand in front of his expensive car bopping around and just mouthing the words to his song LDKFJASDLKFJSLDFJ do i sound cruel? i really don’t mean to!!

so day6. a band i only found out about in late june (thank u boxy) and before this i only ever listened to bts and mx bc my friends stan them so i thought i was gonna expect boys dancing, the usual. 

i clicked i smile and i lost my fucking shit as soon as i saw the instruments because prior to day6 i was a big 5sos fan so this was rly resonating to me tbh and i was just !!! so fukcng excited??? i never intended to even get into day6 honestly??? but after witnessing how good they are and watching about all of the available mvs at that point i was completely in awe so i caved a created a stan twitter for them.

now, this isnt even the most of it. after becoming a fan i realized how much more these 5 boys are. they compose (if im not wrong) and brian writes lyrics for the songs each month because of their everyday6 project and again, im wow-ed because??? the amount of dedication???? they went from releasing 2 title tracks in 2 years to releasing 12 title tracks and 12 bside tracks in a single year. they havent released the december song yet but haviing to work on 2 or more songs in 4 weeks is fucking amazing if you ask me. 

theyre really talented and theyre just so versatile (am i using that word correctly) and each month their songs sound different. this project has given them the opportunity to try new things and you can hear the steady improvement in each of their vocals (dowoonie not so much since he barely gets lines, but we all know hes working hard) and if you listen to their debut song - kongchu and compare it to the version they released along with sunrise it just???? the drumming has even changed from the original version nd its so noticeable that whenever i hear kongchu from 2015 i know its the old ver

to add to those, they do vlives every week and although those vlives are always scheduled it still makes my day seeing them and watching them do the usual. 

one thing im upset about is that how they barely promote themselves, they rarely get on variety shows (the most is individual schedules) and we, as mydays never really get to know the boys so its harder to fall for them as a whole. i dont know if its jyp or day6′s decision but if this is how they want to be known for - their music only, then so be it. we still have jae’s presence on youtube, music access and asc. thats the most we can get and it makes it difficult for us to learn about the rest but thats okay.

another thing. their concerts are something i always look forward to (even though my interest has died down a bit;) their concerts are just so fun to listen to?? there’ll always be mydays who stream the concert so everyone else can listen to them play and they sound so good live it drives me crazy. mydays are always so hyped and whenever mydays sing along it just gives me goosebumps??? bc theyre so???? good????? 

tldr; day6 deserve more, following wise and promotions wise because they work so hard and once this project ends i hope they’ll manage to rest but still remain as a presence that will be known instead of returning to jyp’s dungeon.

1/? I think a lot of Poc fans, especially ones who are darker skinned, aren't being unreasonable when they see things like the article that's floating around and get disappointed. Like as a black american Kpop fan, not only do I watch a lot of idols sample my culture by using hip hop influences, but I see a lot of drama about some using them n word or them doing black face. And like yeah I see what u said about not pushing ethnocentric views into Kpop idols. But where is the research they do?

2/who is telling them that it's not okay anymore to use black skin as a comedy/coolness factor? Someone definitely should. They're not babies, and there are things they should know before they borrow or imitate things like hip hop. Or there are things they should know even just if they plan on interacting with other ppl outside of Koreans. Like BTS all say they have a lot of black artists as inspiration. And they want to collaborate and all that. There are things they cannot do then, and expect 

3/to still be able to have a professional rapport with black artists or black fanbase. Also colorism isn't just an issue in America, it's a thing everywhere for poc. So when it looks like the boys might be taking part in a system that exists worldwide, I don't think it's ethnocentricism for American or international fans to be upset. Anyway, It's not unreasonable for poc fans to be waiting for the other shoe to drop sometimes because that's how life can be. Not saying it's universal for all poc to experience this but I do think it's just a sad fact for a lot of ppl. Idk what ur experiences are and I'm not trying to come at u but I feel like this isn't really addressed much and I think it's important to mention when "articles" like this come up

I really hate the type of pain that this has caused POC, its really so stupid that this all happened in the first place, its so messy and harmful.  I get where you’re coming from and I understand how you feel completely.  Not everyone knows everything about other cultures its like impossible to know everything in the world, but people learn all the time and they seriously should learn their fanbase as well as possible.  You’re right though, people like namjoon are human and they make mistakes, but thats just part of life and everyone grows from it if they can.  I’m not happy about the things he has said either, but I do believe he regrets it and he knows better now.  Everyone has said and done bad things they regret, but we cant change the past.  We’ve all literally done something shitty.  I think Taehyung has apologized too, part of the beauty standards in Korea are being pale (not 100% sure why

I really wish more people in Korea and other countries had a more “woke” ideology, but we really can’t control them, and part of normalizing different types of people (who should already be normal imo) is being exposed to them in real life, not media and film. I just watched a very recent thing about how white children feel about children of color because even now, in 2017, In America, they aren’t being taught to accept others or even be exposed to people of color and its just sick and saddening, its like a constant cycle.

 I understand seeing something and immediately feeling hurt. I see stuff all the time that just really gets under my skin and it makes me feel differently about things or people I love and that makes it so much harder to take. Articles should always be taken half heartedly I believe.  People write such bullshit thats unprecedented just for popularity and attention ( I mean look at all the fake news swarming everywhere now) and its not different just because its kpop idols. In fact, it probably reaches more people and has a bigger emotional/mental impact than other types of news.

I really hope that people can fight bad things with kindness instead of hatred. The last thing I want is BTS being sent hate for something they might not have even done!!  I personally don’t really see them caring mostly because when they’ve talked about equally as superficial topics their answers weren’t harmful in fact some were really inclusive. Overall asking about skin color is unnecessary and just a gross question to me. I feel like no one asks shit questions like that in America. I will literally never understand why skin color is an issue to people like it just fucking blows my mind that some people can’t handle poc like.... I jsut dont get it I have no words for that even its more like a bunch of inhuman noises and me shrugging violently.
