zib is really fucked up and insane and is also used as a plot device to show just how similar zim and dib are as people, as well as how them both being in control of something does NOT work out

lore that you would only know if you read the comics

most of it is random stuff like in the show

zimvoid arc is gonna be my favorite

Today in comics I read!

-Green Arrow 1

-Tim Drake Robin 8

Vague spoilers and thoughts under the cut!

-Green Arrow: I love my Bats but I’ve decided to expand outside of Gotham and the Arrow family seemed like a great place to start. It has a lot of stuff I like such as non-powered superheroes and found family. This issue was great! I’m sold!

-Tim Drake Robin: this series really is generally all over the place in quality: it does best when it looks at Tim and struggles when it tries to depict characters the writer isn’t familiar with. So this issue with Kate is a bust for me: I don’t like how she’s depicted at all and it doesn’t really track with what I know about her. I feel like this plot kicks Kate down to push Tim up which I don’t love to say the least.

7: Favorite fanfiction?

Sadly I don't read as much fanfiction as I would like to, but from the ones I've finished/ I'm up to date, here are some I liked:

@bamsara "The Trees Have Seen You Savage" because... of course, it is xD

The story kept me engaged throughout the whole thing, making me intrigued, stressed out, and smile (at the same time, sometimes xD). It has perfect timing between sweet and fun moments and more serious ones. BamSara is an amazing writer and artist and I hope they love their work as much as their readers, it's amazing!

@beanie-based-being "Twisted Metal and Broken Bones" is a story I'm very curious about where it will go. I don't want to share too much to avoid any spoilers but I will say it has my favorite trope with Dib hunting for cryptids and the way he finds one OHOHOHO! Very stress-inducing in all the good ways xD Can't wait to see what happens next :D

"I thought we were friends" is a short story based on my comic based on one of my favorite @reynaruina IZ AU's "Competent Zim" so I might be a little biased here...xD

BUT! It is an amazing short story where Zim is a true danger to the planet. He's a sociopath who "plays" with Dib just for some sick fun. I truly felt the Dibs' pain in here. A lot of angst, a lot of death, and a lot of pain!

Now I've noticed I like when Dib suffers...oh well xD

Finally got my copy of the latest Obi-Wan comic, #3!!

As you can see from the cover, it's got Cody + the 212th!

Spoilers beneath cut:

Ah...😭😭😭

"I still think of my Second-in-Command, CC-2224--whom I called "Commander Cody"--with great fondness. I miss him to this day. Even though he eventually tried to kill me. So it goes with my friends, it seems."

Comic is worth it for the above lines alone, in my humble opinion.

Also, new 212th boy just dropped!! He has a terrible haircut. I love him. Welcome, Airo!

("AR-" hmm, is he the first official 212th ARC? Though he lacks the fancy gear ^ ^;)

Additional thoughts:

Overall I really enjoyed it! It was still obviously very Obi-Wan centric, I mean it's the Obi-Wan comic, but had armored!Obi-Wan and also a decent amount of the 212th + Cody. Less centered around the clones than I would have ideally wanted, but still more than expected! ^ ^;

Obi-Wan was drawn really beautifully! I could feel the love. I couldn't feel quite as much love for the clones alas ;_; (also, as much as I adore the cover, Cody my dude u do not look 20~22 max there buddy) Also Phase I helmets in comic but Phase II on cover, minor detail but hrng

One thing that makes me really sad is that the Obi-Wan narrator of this comic is ~20 years post ROTS, aka shortly before ANH. In this comic he isn't with Cody, and apparently still doesn't know about the chips/that the clones didn't want to betray him. Assuming this is canon, it effectively kills any chance of Cody showing up in Obi-Wan show S2.

Unless, of course, they decide to ignore this comic. I'm not sure how "canon" all the new comics/novels are, but I'm hoping that the stories within them won't completely dictate all future SW content, and that this story being Legends-ized is a possibility ;_;

I'm happy to see more Cody + 212th content, I don't want to seem grateful!! But, I still want to see at least part of the scrapped Obi-Wan script one day. It doesn't have to be that exact script! But a Cody + Obi-Wan reunion in some form, or at least closure for Obi-Wan in realizing the clones were victims not traitors.

#5 of this comic is apparently about Obi-Wan encountering a stormtrooper who reminds him of his clones. Maybe..?

(idk but this blurb reads like a Codywan fic summary doesn't it ahhaha)

But if Obi-Wan does find Cody again immediately before ANH...like again, closure is the most important part. But admittedly that's less time together than I would have ideally liked ;_; We'll have to see!

Either way, it's a lovely comic that has Obi-Wan + Cody + 212th. Please check it out if you can!

EGOIZE KARIAS - PRINCE OF MIND (possible PRINCE OF HOPE) (EGO-IZE. Ego as in he's got a big one. He acts like he's the shit but he's really just a formerly rich manchild that acts on impulse. He retains some traits of the Mind aspect but for the most part destroys it (He left Tahoma with no choice but to lure him in because he refused to listen to her, for example. Same with Meeraz, he said she was talking bullshit). He is a very emotional man, (reminiscent of today's "sassy man apocalypse", but that's just my opinion as a reader) and lashes out like a kid would. Tahoma probably has to have served as his handler at one point.) (fun fact i ship my trollsona w/ him in <3<)

DULCAN THANAS - PAGE OF BLOOD (He is Responsible for Providing MEAT (flesh could be seen as a symbol of Blood). He is also responsible for Cladem's welfare and is very, very poor at it, having dismissed her at multiple points (up until the Cow Massacre, he wasn't receptive to her visions.) But once it happens, he becomes remorseful and apologizes, showing maturity and progress to his character. He DOES have a sense of Responsibility. Unfortunately, he believed her all too late and Cladem has to pay the price, not just his whole herd of cattle and a bunch of chickens minus one. He was mentioned as being "abysmal at talking to people let alone convincing them" (Recruiting people for a Team and Unity are part of the Blood aspect. Dulcan is shit at it but likes to see himself as being a Responsible adult that Knows his shit when he Actually Doesn't.).)

MAYDES "SKERRT" AURATU - HEIR OF BREATH/RAGE (Breath - He shoves off his Responsibility for taking care of his lusus because he is exempt from the Vast Glub's effects. That, and he's Lost in his Own Little World. He insists on being called by a few different aliases to the point that his fake name, Skerrt, is better known than his actual name, Maydes. Again, a sign of detachment from who he is at the Heart of the Matter AKA Maydes Aurata, Heir to Primarian ||'s throne. (A/N: IMHO, he's a little irresponsible shit and overall awful like every other man in the group but that doesn't mean I hate the story or characters, I'm quite passionate about both. I'm just saying he's just poorly behaved and is a bad person which is more of my arbitrary moralizing.) Another thing of note is that he's very rage-inducing for those who don't care for his carelessness and his ancestor wrote shit the wrong way and it led to things having to be written backwards, then flipped.)

TAHBBI DAEZON - ROGUE OF SPACE

KIMAIZ YELDAN - MAID OF TIME (He was treated like a workhorse, Overloaded with DEADLINES until his Internal Clock runs rut. He requires others, namely Amenia and Tahbbi, to buy him some TIME by way of blood transfusions or begging a certain blue cowfucker to back the hoof off for five seconds. He has a cantankerous mood due to being in a constant state of pain and misery due to his AVOIDABLE SITUATION.)

AMENIA LYPTRA - WITCH OF LIFE (She has a very Cheerful Personality in the face of adversity. She keeps Live eels in tanks, presumably to power her technology.)

CLADEM NECHRE - MAGE OF DOOM (Suffers from visions of doom that nobody believes.)

MEERAZ BAYAGA - SEER OF VOID

LOKERE SARONE - KNIGHT OF LIGHT

ELGIZA ?????? - BARD OF RAGE (Her creation, the Purple Doll Girl, causes everyone else misery. Perhaps, she wanted to give the purple girl Hope by making her a body (or a bunch of them...). She was stated as a good doll-maker by Kimaiz and was used as a dubious source of Hope for his regrettable situation.)

TAHOMA FLEURZ - SYLPH OF HOPE

DEJINN SILUDE - THIEF OF HEART (He's seductive, PASSIONATE and is canonically a trendsetter on Primaris ||. The way I interpreted it was he talks in a way that gives some people (Tahbbi again) the impression he's talking in double entendres like he wants something of a dirty nature. (A/N: I initially was made very uncomfortable by him and was a little scared of him. Like, I wanted to breeze through the fucking pages that had Dejinn, he was that upsetting to me. He reminds me too much of sleazy men that manipulate and lie to get what they want. Now I like him but don't like admitting it.) Thieves, like Princes, have inflated egos. He has Devoted Fans that would LITERALLY KILL for him. Also, the way it's phrased (he doesn't have interests but rather PASSIONS, if you incorrectly label them as something else Your Days Are Numbered, his PASSIONS include but are not limited to playing the acoustic guitar, filming and video editing, Network engineering, Jewel collecting and last but not least important SLAM POETRY (Something of note is that one recurring theme in Slam Poetry is IDENTITY-based politics). Dejinn is also stated to be the proud never before seen in trolls: Charisma. He *makes* you like him and if you don't, you're dead meat. From what I could gleam, He has a huge chunk of the Primarian population wrapped around his little finger, including critics and even a few of his teammates (This is a bit of a stretch, but Dulcan starts out seemingly annoyed by Dejinn then switched scripts mid-conversation, being Positive and saying they had a deal.)

I don’t think I can find a better example of Zim going easy on Dib even though Dib refuses to do the same than Issue 26.

Zim has his extremely sharp PAK legs out and is in the perfect position to skewer Dib in one shot, killing him instantly, but instead uses his legs as a blunt object, knocks him into a pile of muffins, and escapes without attempting to harm Dib further.

Meanwhile the first thing Dib does upon acquiring what he thinks is a gun is attempt to shoot Zim point blank.

Just imagine everything from an outsider’s perspective.

Not from the perspective of the students that have been here a while and are used to Zim and Dib’s antics, but from the perspective of someone who’s never encountered any of this before.

Zim might be one of the smartest Irkens alive:

In the comics, an Irken Engineer named Skrang built this thing:

It’s a prototype wormhole generator, giving the Tallest the ability to teleport anything to the base of any Invader, heavily implied to be the first of its kind.

Skrang had help doing this. He wears a specialized backpack filled with dozens of harvested Vortian brains, which presumably gives him a boost of intelligence. It’s a literal think tank.

Zib’s single cracked/chipped lens is the most subtle change in his appearance from the Dib we already know and enjoy and yet I’m obsessed I’m so obsessed with it over anything else about his design you have no idea there’s SO much to be symbolically said about it

+ the use of glasses in media very often being a way to indicate a character with exceptional intelligence and insight and how Zib having damaged spectacles could be a hint to how this trait of his has been altered or corrupted

+ broken glass in general as a literary metaphor for transformation, the casting off of limitations, or the loss of innocence

+ “seeing through a broken lens” literally being an idiom for someone having a distorted and false perception of their world

+ Dib’s spectacles normally being one of his most defining/consistent features, not just the literal window through which he views others but also the one they see him through. In a destroyed universe, they’re one of the final connections to humanity he has left, degraded.

+ While Zib’s mutations only display how his body has been changed since he conquered his Zim, the unexplained chip possibly serves as a clue that he has also been personally damaged by the events of his past in some way. Irken biology remembers no grave wound, but human imperfections never forget.

lol i was just saying i thought it was kinda weird but also like oddly heartwarming in a way??? like it was played for dark comedy obviously but it's one of my favorite issues of the comic because i think it shows a subtle progression in how zim perceives dib-yes i do consider certain comic arcs to be in line with the show and movie continuation. sadly i don't go to omori but you're free to indulge in any ideas it sparked!
