any dinobots headcanons?
sorry for taking a bit to respond!
```````
So, while not specified, I am assuming the thought’s on the dino/bots is related to chib. If not, my appoplogies, b/c this is gonna be chub.
Grim/lock: being the brute that he is, he tended to be the most greediest- mind you, he of course still shares wioth the rest of his gang, he just takes the biggest pieces for himself. He tends to be glutonous, eating way too fast to be able to properly gauge just how much he consumed until it’s way too late. As in, belly swollen and extremely achy. He then has to go find Rat/chet and ask what is wrong with his tummy and whines that it’s a grumbling mess. The medic, used to these antics, gives him the cyber/tronian equivulence to pep-to and send him on his way. If he wants belly rubs, he gotta find Wheel/jack: who agrees without hesitation.
Sla/g: being fiercly…fiece and all, if he gets ahold of the meal first, he’d feast as fast as he could to get the most food. He also tends to angry eat…. Like, when he’s angry, he eats. Seeing how he’s pretty much always in a bad mood ( from having to listen to Pri/mes orders or something) he’s always got food on his mind. Yeah, he gives the term hangry its deadly meaning for sure! And if/when sl/ag overeats, his mood is even more cranky due to the belly aches. He won’t go to med bay to get anything for relief nor allow anyone to rub that tummy… instead, he purposly belches as loud and rudly as possible. Take that.
Slu/dge: while not the sharpest crayon in the box, his eating habits are odd. Odd as in not much thought is given to what meals he eats. He is the lover of junk food, for sure. Instead of consuming a well balanced meal, this bot tend to turn snacks into meals. And sometimes, the meals consist of items that one wouldn’t think to put together…like (cyber/tronian equivulances, of course_ penut butter and tuna fish… m &m’s and skittles…milk and pizza…gummies and cereal, you get the idea. His overundulgences end up with him laying in his berth, cradling his belly as he whimpers. He doesn’t ever grasp that while some foods may be good on their own, mixing them isn’t the bestest of ideas.
Sna/rl: being a rather unhappy dino/bot, he tends to eat to dull the sadness in his spark. When not in battle, he is holed up somewhere alone and binge eating. His thoughts are wondering to Cyber/tron and how he wishes he was there instead of Earth. Hating his alt mode makes him eat. However, he’s not quite as ‘uncultered’ as his fellow dino/bots. He manages to take the time to cook some very savory meals. He cooks entire feasts for himselfs and spends all night slowly eating them as to enjoy them to their fullest. He often eats as he looks over datapads of cyber/tron or other dinos that may have been cooler to have as an alt. By the time his optics grow heavy, his belly grows heavy too. It grumbles and quakes, but the feeling of being so full luls him to sleep. He curls up and rubs his own swelled belly as he drifts off to sleep. He kinda is a little happy while doing to.
Swo/op: being the friendlist an dmost sociable of the dino-squad, he tends to be more of a grazer. If there is a gathering, he’ll be there idly chatting ( as long as he aint getting ordered around, that is!) with snacks in hand. He admitted, upon being questioned by other dino/bots about why he even bothered attending these functions, and he responded with the obvious: they always have food. The topics may not be the best ( though, he fakes interest as to not be rude) but is always scoping out the treats. He’s the least likely to overeat in public: being much more sensitive he doesn’t like any teasing or ridicule comiing his way. However, whenever left overs are offered to be taken back, Swo/op eagrly agrees- often clearing out whatever no one else takes. ( He may even swipe some before the offer is made, but you didn’t hear that from me) Once he returns to his habsuit, and out of sight of the others, he finishes up whatever he took with him. However, he is very mindful of being able to fly still. He would never want to be caught grounded by such a huge gut that he couldn't strike fear into other mech’s by his scary alt mode.
Now, can you imagine them all together? If they are hungry- you got one snagging the biggest pieces, another piling food sky high on his plate, one randomly fixing a plate with combos that do not make sense, one eating the sadness away in a corner, and the fjnal one shoving food into subspace for later. They’d resemble a swarm of locuses more than dino’s…..
——-
I actually do not know much about the Dino/bots.
JUST A CRAZY ROUGHNECKS DAUGHTER:
life isn’t much of anything when you’re the middle of 11 kids. on the farm it was early to rise and early to bed, everyone had a chore and unfortunately doris, the eldest of the kids, was given childcare duty more often than not. but the perk of being the middle of 11, is the ability to disappear. her father only cared about three (four) things; god, farm, family, whiskey. her mother followed a similar path and well...granny jo wasn’t the best idol according to her mother. and so ida decided to carve her own way in the world.
you see, the thing about being number six of eleven means you get exactly zero attention. and so you go seeking your attention elsewhere. and ida found that attention in the arms of bobby perkins. she was fourteen, him seventeen, and ida was smitten from day one. he talked her up, picked her up at the bonfires when she snuck out of the house, and promised that he would take her away from eastern tennessee. and then she graduated at 17 (a year early because to everyone’s surprise ida was actually quite intelligent), and took her to the majestic land that was florida.
living in a trailer park as bobby developed a bit of a following with his promise of love and freedom, and god-fearing community, ida realized just how much she liked the spotlight. she liked when people fawned over her, when they showered her with affection, and when they believed the words that left her mouth. it was easy work for her, talking to people, making them feel heard, inviting them in to the group. this was what she was made for.
but bobby didn’t like it. he didn’t like that others started to love ida more than him, that she would say something in opposition to him. always sweetly, always veiled as compliments and adoration for him. and so he came up with the plan to dump her, to leave her stranded, to get her away from his life, his goals.
and then suddenly ida was back on her parents front porch, saying she’d been accepted at ogden with a full ride, that bobby was still in florida and she had no idea what happened to him. and then she kissed her mother and father goodbye and moved to new hampshire for her future.
JUMPED HEADFIRST INTO THE WATER:
starting college as a freshman at twenty came with a whole list of questions. she answered them easily, she needed time between high school and college to get some real world experience. she wanted to travel, to work and save her money, but she always knew she would go, and that ogden was the place.
and then a year later greer started, and ida zeroed in on her. she was perfect for ida’s ego, for her life to befriend such a golden girl. to whisper words of wisdom. but soon greer, either seeing through ida’s facade or just over it altogether, gave ida the cold shoulder.
but she was undeterred, continuing on her merry way but always keeping an eye on the campus golden girl. she laughed when others needed the comedic boost, gave out compliments to those who needed it, and offered her support as needed. but it just isn’t enough is it?
BAPTIZED AWAY MY SINS:
looking forward, ida is hoping to continue to apply herself. charming anyone and everyone she can, collecting people in her pocket for when she needs them, making loyal friends and followers. currently she’s applying to master and phd programs, including the one at ogden, to continue her studies. and she’s keeping her eye out for the golden girl, curious to her disappearance, though a bit thrilled in the mystery. ida would never turn down the drama, and is not above going the extra mile when she’s a bit bored.
GREER:
ida entered college at age 20, with too much real-world experience it seemed. everyone was so boring at ogden, making problems out of nothing, feeding each other’s egos. and yet, ida knew what she could tap into while she was there, the wealth, the connections, the power. everything she needed, what she had never had. and enter greer, a beautiful eager girl with everything ida needed, everything she wanted to be. and so she quickly took to her side, hoping to offer friendship, advice, to mold her into the person that ida needed her to be. and it seemed to work for a while, greer maintaining her own self but still ida could clearly see her influences. until it stopped completely, greer icing her out of her life in one fell swoop. and in less than a year, ida went from building her empire and future on poor little greer, back to nothing. still she kept her tabs on greer, and she knew greer did the same. they acted polite and kind in public, a weird relationship of knowing each other but not really. ida played it off, acting as if greer was but a younger sibling to her. but to everyone else it was just an odd friendship that didn’t survive the test of time in college, nothing more and nothing less.
THE SIREN:
she pulls you in with her sweetness, but only when it’s too late do you realize her true colors. like sirens drown the sailors, ida isn’t afraid to take-down anyone she feels deserves it. Whether it is valid or not. she doesn’t care who it is, and sometimes she does it just for fun. breaking the hearts of boys and girls, dragging people's names through the mud, spreading a rumor to take them down completely. whatever it takes, she’ll do it. for her safety, for her entertainment, it doesn’t matter much to her. but even now, four years later at ogden, people haven’t seemed to really pick up on it. let’s face it, she won’t hesitate to push you in front of a bus, and will quite successfully convince you it had been an accident and she had been trying to save you from the bus.
I love Harper but that show is not PC or acceptable most of the time.
Disregard any Call me by your name stuff and Jack Dylan Grazer there is islamaphobia being taught, so many penises, glossing over of dysfunction and violence  within a domestic setting and the glamorisation of sexual relationships between those of very different ages - AGAIN!.
Love love love Harper and the central story line but this is free to watch on I player in the Uk without anywhere near the guidance needed and no restrictions.
Channel 4 do my nut by not letting me- an over 16 year old- watch 15 shows which are awesome and beautiful and help me grow emotionally and with my gender and my isolation and forgiving myself for being mentally ill.
But we need a lock on this stuff guys.
I am not looking for censorship- I am looking for people to take responsibility and protect kids from dangerous ideas and to STOP ISLAMAPHOBIA. Honestly racism starts at home and if this is in the home of a sheltered child with parents who ignore or encourage racism then we have just allowed racism to provail.
Harper is beautiful and so are many of the characters and it could be good for someone if they were taught to not be racist but  Islamaphobia is accepted in many parts of society and it needs to be stopped before we live in a world where anybody can watch an unedited version of this.
Harper may save trans lives and help autistic people, those with anxiety and other things feel seen and valid, but it can also damage lives.
Possible actors: Wiccan and Speed
Tumblr media
Yes I know Billy and Tommy “died” in Wandavision, but since there are several clues that Marvel is probably working on Young Avengers, I decided showing some actors who could play them.
Note: I’m basing this in some of other Young Avengers’ ages (the actors), like Hailee Steinfeld and Kathryn Newton, so they are probably gonna be between 15 to their twenties.
Also, I didn’t choose the actors based on whether or not they look like Billy and Tommy’s actors.
And this is just my opinion, feel free to show yours as well.
Joshua Bassett
He is most known to be in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
I can see him more as Wiccan.
He’s 20 years old.
Tumblr media
Griffin Gluck
I know him first from “Just Go With It” and from “Why Him?”. He also plays Gabe in “Locke & Key”.
He’s 20 years old.
I can see him as either Speed or Wiccan.
Tumblr media
Asher Angel
He’s most known for “Shazam!”.
He probably won’t play any character in the MCU, but I still like to imagine him as Wiccan. I think Marvel has some kind of contract that doesn’t allow the actors to play characters in both Marvel and DC at the same time.
He’s 18.
Tumblr media
Louis Partridge
He’s known for “Enola Homes”.
I can see him playing either Wiccan or Speed.
He’s 17.
Tumblr media
Aidan Gallagher
He’s known for “Umbrella Academy”.
He’s 17.
I can see him as Wiccan.
Tumblr media
Noah Schnapp
He’s known for “Stranger Things”.
I can see him as Wiccan.
He’s 16.
Tumblr media
Jack Dylan Grazer
He’s more known for “It”, “Shazam!”, and “We Are Who We Are”.
He has the same issue as Asher, Marvel probably won’t hire him since he’s currently in a DC franchise.
I can see him as Speed.
He’s 17.
‘Shazam! Fury Of The Gods’ Set Photos Unite Djimon Hounsou & Marvel Family
New set photos from Shazam! Fury of the Gods united Djimon Hounsou and members of the Marvel family together.
Recently, it was revealed that Academy Award-nominee Djimon Hounsou would be reprising his role as the Wizard in the upcoming DC Extended Universe sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods. The actor previously appeared in its 2019 predecessor, in which his Wizard character reluctantly entrusts young Billy Batson (Asher Angel) as the new champion (Zachary Levi) to wield the powers of Shazam when the threat of Doctor Thaddeus Sivana (Mark Strong) became too strong.
Producer Knows Fans Want Black Adam To Fight Henry Cavill’s Superman
Fury of the Gods, given that the Wizard is shown crumbling into dust after bestowing his powers to Billy. Now, we have an intriguing new look at Djimon Hounsou’s return as the Wizard alongside a few members of the Marvel family. New set photos reveal Grace Fulton, Jovan Armand and Ian Chen alongside the Wizard on horseback.
Dick Grayson Returns To Gotham City In New ‘Titans’ Season 3 Promo
Here is the official synopsis for the first Shazam! movie:
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quick.
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Djimon Hounsou.
Shazam! is available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD, while Fury of the Gods will hit theaters on June 2, 2023. Keep it locked to Heroic Hollywood for all the latest on the upcoming film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more video content!
Movie Review: Shazam! (Spoilers)
Tumblr media
Spoiler Warning: This is my spoiler review for Shazam! released the weekend after the movie’s initial release on April 5 so if you haven’t yet seen the movie, go and see it and then come back and read on.
Characters:
Billy Batson/Shazam:
Tumblr media
So let’s start with our main character(s) and I will start with Asher Angel’s Billy Batson because I can’t really talk about Zachary Levi’s Shazam without first talking about the origin of how he came to be.
As I said in my non-spoiler review, I thought Asher Angel got off to a very rocky start. I am guessing “Holy Moley” is Billy’s catchphrase because both he and Shazam said it quite a lot in this movie. However when the first words you hear the movie’s hero say are “Holy moley! It’s the boys in blue!” you do question what kind of movie this is.
I did like his actions of tricking the cops into that shop and locking them in so he could try and find a woman with the surname Batson in their car...but I just how it was executed from the dialogue to that very childish waving played a little bit too kid-like than Billy or Shazam are supposed to be.
Although the fact he is a kid in the foster system was very tastefully handled and didn’t detour away from the hard-hitting reality of what growing up in the system is like.
Similar to the 2009 movie Hotel for Dogs starring Emma Roberts and Jake T. Austin as brother and sister in the system and wanting to remain together no matter where they end up. Don Cheadle plays one of his better roles there as the social worker who like Andi Osho here is very realistic in saying “If you keep running away, eventually it will become impossible to place you”. Very well handled and I am impressed a movie this comedic and light goes there.
Tumblr media
Now when Billy moves in with the foster family that houses the other kids of the Shazam! family, something about Asher’s performance really makes Billy fade away and the attention is focused on literally everyone else. I think the main problem for this movie will be Asher Angel because even in promotions it’s Zachary Levi and Jack Dylan Grazer doing the rounds.
I did like the growth of him accepting the foster family as his new family. He started off very cagey, was fixated on the idea he wasn’t going to stay there so didn’t want Darla to get attached which made her feel sad and how he didn’t join in with the family dinner tradition of “all hands in”.
But then when he finally tracked down his mother, which by the way I found interesting that Billy had gone I think from state to state or city to city yet somehow ended up in the same state or city as his mother all those years later, that realization that his mother is a waste of space and accepting that the foster family are his true family was touching.
Tumblr media
This is, by a mile, my favourite performance of Zachary Levi’s. Shazam as a character in live-action was every bit as funny and child-like as I have seen him in animation.
Tumblr media
That child-like wonder of discovering he had superpowers and learning how to deal with them was very good, the fact he appeared as an adult so could buy beer but still being a child not having a taste for it so swapped it out for candy and sugary drinks was very funny.
But then of course you have the line of “With great power comes great responsibility” which yes isn’t a Shazam or DC line but does come into effect as Shazam is using his lightning powers mainly to charge phones and put on a show, but when it comes to saving people he does go through that ordeal of not knowing what to do and simply succeeding by luck.
Tumblr media
I thought the Shazam suit was very well realized despite what we have seen in promotions, I’m still not a fan of the cape and I like the comments about it in the movie. I think it’s either one of those things that works better in animation or the choice in design they went with for the movie just made it look like a bath towel but something didn’t translate well for me.
Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but I do not believe Shazam was ever called Shazam in this movie. I mean yes there was that great line in the climax of the film when Billy’s foster siblings became the Shazam family and Shazam himself instructed them on how to become them but rather than saying Shazam originally they said “Billy!” and so he said “No not my name, the name that turns me into this guy” it was funny.
Obviously they can’t use the character’s original name of Captain Marvel because 1) There is a small independent movie that just passed $1 Billion at the box office with the same name and of course the name is literally the name of DC’s rival studio.
I had fun with the character and I genuinely look forward to seeing where this character goes next.
Dr. Sivana:
Tumblr media
Mark Strong finally comes good as a supervillain and I could not be happier for him. I really like this actor, I think he is an incredible working actor just trying to have that one breakthrough role that grabs audience attention and I believe Dr. Sivana is that role.
I enjoyed the movie starting with his origin, because of course behind every great superhero is a great supervillain, and Mark Strong as Dr. Sivana is a fantastic supervillain.
His father being John Glover was a very nice surprise for me both as a Smallville fan and just a John Glover fan in general. Yes he played a kind of Frankenstein-esk villain in Batman and Robin but his turn as Lionel Luthor in Smallville and even Sylar’s father in Heroes were two great roles for the character. Also he is the voice of The Riddler in Batman: The Animated Series so he clearly has a lot of weight at DC.
When young Thad goes to Shazam’s lair and is tempted by the seven deadly sins before being banished by Shazam, I thought it was a great precursor for what is to come.
I loved how from being a child he dedicated his life to finding his way back to the lair to obtain the power and that took I think 44/45 years, if we’re talking “present day” when it’s clearly Christmas in April, was dedication and I loved how in this instance it wasn’t the villain created because of the hero.
Tumblr media
Being empowered by the Seven Deadly Sins, who by the way the promotional trail kept really secret. I mean I didn’t know about the Seven Deadly Enemies of Man from the comics but obviously even atheists know about the seven deadly sins and portraying them in these rather creative demon styles was a lot of fun.
I also found it brilliant that he never released the seventh deadly sin Envy until he had no choice because if all seven left him he would simply be mortal and vulnerable, I thought at one point he was going to mutate into Envy because of how he was envious he wasn’t worthy of the power of Shazam yet a child was but I was wrong.
Dr. Sivana, as I said in my non-spoiler review, is the best supervillain portrayal since Heath Ledger’s Joker. This guy was dark, brutal and was not afraid to kill or threaten anybody - Man, woman, child, elderly, infant...anybody!
Tumblr media
Mark Strong could have very easily gone down the Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor in Superman Returns route particularly when he had the foster siblings hostage at their house but he was still scary and threatening.
He never broke character either, there was never one moment where he was a goofy villain or let himself play to the goofiness of the hero. The best laugh he got was in the Deadpool-like scene where he and Shazam were in the air...very far away from each other and Sivana was threatening Shazam but Shazam couldn’t hear him yet he was still talking. Yet it was never played as Sivana being incompetent or goofy as he was still menacing.
Foster Family/Shazam! Family:
Tumblr media
Alright so I am going to go through the foster kids in order of my favourites still but just to talk about them as a whole, I thought once again this was a great example of diversity within a comic-book movie. To play up the fact that a foster family can be made up of different ethnicities was another realistic touch in portraying how the foster system works.
Darla Dudley:
Tumblr media
Darla was my favourite out of the kids and Faithe Herman is the breakout star of this movie. She was cute for a start, this girl was adorable, you could easily see why she was picked for fostering/adoption because she is that cute.
However, she is a great example of looks being deceiving because this girl may be cute but she is sassy and she knows how to work a room. From keeping the secret that Billy is Shazam to playing up the little sister angle. Her reaction when the other kids found out that Billy was Shazam was great because she was so giddy that she didn’t spill the secret it was just so adorable.
When she was gifted her superpowers and became an adult, I thought Meegan Good kept up Faithe Herman’s cuteness but plussed it into the vision of what Darla sees herself being as an adult. She had the same kind of look and had a side-ponytail curl rather than bunches, her power, because each kid was granted one of Shazam’s powers while he as Billy has all of them, was the Speed of Mercury and it was great to see a female speedster in the movies, because at the moment they’re all on the small screen and mainly on The Flash with the Flash Family.
I look forward to seeing how Darla progresses as a character and, to be honest, care about her more than Billy at this point.
Freddy Freeman:
Tumblr media
Jack Dylan Grazer was basically as good here as he was as Ritchie in It but the difference is the genre because while in a horror setting it is all very intense and, as someone who isn’t a horror fan myself, I am always on the edge of my seat that there isn’t really time to convey a lighter performance, here Freddy was simply a comic-book geek and I found that very relatable.
I loved the fact that it was either every day or every other scene that Freddy had a different logo t-shirt from the Justice League members and the main heroes so far established in the DCEU, even Wonder Woman which I found to be very forward-thinking of the director to have a guy wear a Wonder Woman t-shirt.
The only thing I didn’t like about Freddy was the fact he became almost a user and exploiter when it came to Billy’s newfound powers and apparent celebrity status.
I get Freddy uses a crutch and gets bullied for it, but I don’t see why that means he automatically say “I know the superhero” without at least asking Billy if it was okay first.
To then make a fool of both him and Shazam while he’s putting on that lightning show was stupid and selfish both because it makes it hard for Shazam to present himself as a reliable superhero but also how exactly do you explain Freddy having such a relationship with Shazam that he feels confident in just calling him out like that.
My funniest moment from Freddy was in that, now overplayed, convenience store scene where you had those thugs come in and Freddy convince Shazam to stand up to them while he’s recording it and, after the discovery that his suit is at least bulletproof, Freddy saying “We need to try the head”...the fact Freddy is essentially directing a robbery is quite funny.
When Freddy became Adam Brody, admittedly I at first did not recognize him. I know Adam Brody TV guest appearances from over 10 years ago so I guess puberty hit or something but he both looked and sounded completely different.
Other Three:
The other three kids really blend into the background for me with maybe one or two moments to shine yet they never do.
Tumblr media
Eugene had a funny introduction of being a gamer nerd who, when his dad tells him it’s night said “When did it become night?”. Again I can relate to that.
Tumblr media
Pedro had an interesting line of dialogue when the kids came out of the strip club after Shazam teleports them all there and he says “It’s not really for me”, which is either just Pedro not being a meatheaded hetero and trying to be more mature but also could be a sign the character will be an LGBT character.
Tumblr media
Mary, was bland as bran flakes. She had one interesting scene, surprisingly in the trailer, where Shazam saves her and she mentions something about college but that is never mentioned again.
Tumblr media
Overall I do like this group of kids for what they represent, but I hope the sequel does develop them further and give them something more to do.
Worlds of DC:
Alright so because the Worlds of DC has seemingly been taken literal here, as I do not see Shazam! as a movie really fitting in with the likes of Wonder Woman or Aquaman and rather in it’s own world within the DC Movies. Having said  that, I am open for the movies going forward to prove me wrong.
Post-Credits Scenes:
This is where I get completely lost and had to do further research because the mid-credits scene saw a now depowered Dr. Sivana...so glad they didn’t kill him off...incarcerated. But then we have this weird caterpillar thing somehow talking to him through a voice box about conquering the seven realms.
It did lead to intruge for me, as I said was curious who the bug was and knew he had been in the movie at the start in the Rock of Eternity but then broke out later.
Apparently his name is Mister Mind and he is a Venusian worm with powerful mental abilities including mind control and hypnosis.
It’s a little bit of a hard-sell when the rest of the movie was so dark, particularly to have Dr. Sivana go from such a brilliant villain to possibly just a puppet, but we shall see.
The very end-credits scene is again a bit of a throwaway but it is Freddy and Shazam testing more of Shazam’s powers, this time seeing if he could control fish which Shazam says is a stupid and useless power but Freddy makes a brilliant in-universe joke to the fact Aquaman did that with style in his movie. Maybe alluding to the fact that this world is separate to the rest...I don’t know.
Overall I rate this movie a solid 8/10, I had a lot of fun with it, I thought Mark Strong and Faithe Herman were definitely my MVPs of the movie and I thought Zachary Levi did a great job at being him but also trying to level up as he was in a mainstream superhero movie.
So that’s my spoiler review of Shazam! What did you guys think? Share your comments and check out more DC Movie Reviews as well as other Movie Reviews and posts.
IT Chapter Two: Every Returning Character From The First Movie
Tumblr media
Which IT Chapter One characters are returning for IT Chapter Two? Both films from New Line Cinema are based on Stephen King’s 1986 novel IT - though the book has been split into two installments - and directed by filmmaker Andy Muschietti.
Released in September 2017, IT Chapter One follows the experiences of several kids in Derry, Maine. The storyline begins in 1988, as the self-proclaimed Losers' Club cope with personal issues while investigating a mysterious being they label as It. The kids ultimately discover that It returns every 27 years to feed on the fears of Derry locals. Incidentally, IT Chapter Two picks up the storyline in 2016, as the Losers' Club reunites and decides to face their childhood trauma one last time.
IT Chapter Two features many returning characters for two separate timelines - both the children from the first movie and their new adult counterparts are starring in the film. Here’s a complete list of every major IT Chapter One character returning for IT Chapter Two.
It Aka Pennywise The Dancing Clown
Tumblr media
Portrayed by Bill Skarsgård, this character is the central villain of the IT story. Pennywise embodies all the fear that children grapple with during their formative years, which means that It can take on various forms, depending on the situation. Pennywise speaks like a normal clown at times but transforms his appearance to shock and terrify his victims. IT Chapter One begins with Pennywise luring and killing a young Derry resident, Georgie Denbrough.
Skarsgård has previously appeared in feature films like Atomic Blonde, Assassination Nation, and Deadpool 2. He also portrayed Henry Deaver aka The Kid in Hulu’s Castle Rock season 1.
Bill Denbrough
Tumblr media
Jaeden Martell reprises his role as Bill Denbrough from IT Chapter One. James McAvoy will portray the 2016 version in IT Chapter Two. In the ‘80s narrative, Bill stutters and struggles with his brother Georgie’s disappearance. Like other Losers' Club members, Bill clashes with his father, and vows to keep the gang together. As an adult, he’s become a successful mystery novelist.
Martell previously starred in the Showtime series Masters of Sex. On the big screen, he landed his first big role in the 2014 dramedy St. Vincent starring Bill Murray. McAvoy, an acclaimed Scottish actor, is best known for his performances in Atonement, Split, and the X-Men franchise as Charles Xavier aka Professor X.
Beverly Marsh
Tumblr media
Jessica Chastain joins the IT Chapter Two cast as the 2016 version of the Losers' Club lone female member, Beverly Marsh. Sophia Lillis reprises her role from the original film as the young Beverly. During the ‘80s story, Beverly is the focus of both Derry rumors and her own father’s sexual advances. In Pennywise, she sees the physical embodiment of her emotional turmoil. The Losers' Club treats Beverly with respect and helps her confront her worst fears. In IT Chapter Two, Beverly is a Chicago fashion designer with a turbulent personal life.
Since appearing in IT Chapter One, Lillis portrayed a younger version of Amy Adams’ Camille Preaker in the HBO limited series Sharp Objects. She also starred as the title character in the feature film Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase, and will headline the 2020 film Gretel and Hansel. Chastain is a two-time Academy Award nominee for her performances in The Help and Zero Dark Thirty. She recently starred in Dark Phoenix, and reunited with director Simon Kinberg for the upcoming spy film 355.
Ben Hanscom
Tumblr media
In IT Chapter Two, Ben Hancsom develops a crush on Beverly and stands up to his school bullies. In the '80s, Ben helps the Losers' Club come to terms with and understand the historical context for Pennywise’s return to Derry. As a kid, Ben is known to be a New Kids on the Block fan and a generally shy person - that is, until he joins the Losers' Club. Ben is portrayed by Jeremy Ray Taylor (Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween) in IT Chapter One, and Jay Ryan (Top of the Lake) in IT Chapter Two.
Richie Tozier
Tumblr media
Once again being played by Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard, Richie Tozier is the most out-spoken member of the Losers' Club. For IT Chapter Two, Saturday Night Live alum Bill Hader stars as Richie in the 2016 timeline. The character provides comic relief in the original film and was extremely reluctant to face Pennywise, though he ultimately sides with his friends for the final fight. IT Chapter Two, meanwhile, reveals that Richie grew up to be a DJ in Los Angeles.
Wolfhard is primarily known for his role as Mike on Stranger Things, though he's also nabbed roles in The Goldfinch and Ghostbusters 2020. Hader is the creator and star of the HBO series Barry and has been both a prominent actor and voice actor on the big and small screens, appearing in productions from Knocked Up to The Venture Bros to Toy Story 4.
Mike Hanlon
Tumblr media
Chosen Jacobs reprises his role as Mike Hanlon from IT Chapter One in IT Chapter Two, with Isaiah Mustafa playing the older version in the sequel film. Mike views himself as an outsider, but he’s welcomed into the Losers' Club by Richie early on. Like his peers, Mike has a difficult relationship with his father. In the 2016 narrative, Mike works as a Derry librarian and warns the Losers' Club members about It’s return.
Jacobs has a recurring role as Will Grover on the CBS series Hawaii Five-0. Mustafa, on the other hand, is best known for starring in a series of Old Spice commercials, and he also starred in the Freeform series Shadowhunters.
Eddie Kaspbrak
Tumblr media
In both films, Jack Dylan Grazer stars as the Losers' Club member Eddie Kaspbrak. Like Bill, he sees visions of Georgie, and struggles with his over-protective mother. James Ransone joins the IT Chapter Two cast as the 2016 version of Kaspbrak, a married New York City entrepreneur.
Grazer portrayed a younger version of Timothée Chalamet’s character in the 2018 movie Beautiful Boy and starred in the DC blockbuster Shazam!. Ransone previously starred in HBO's The Wire, and portrays The Deputy in the Sinister movie franchise, so it's clear he has some horror experience.
Stanley Uris
Tumblr media
Portrayed by Wyatt Oleff in IT Chapter One, Stanley Uris refuses to believe that Pennywise is real. He’s arguably the most nervous member of the Losers' Club, and tries to maintain control over situations. For IT Chapter Two, Andy Bean stars as the older version of Stanley, an Atlanta accounting professional.
Oleff plays young Peter Quill in both Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Bean starred as Greg Knox in the Starz series Power, and also portrayed Alec Holland in the short-lived DC Universe series Swamp Thing.
Henry Bowers
Tumblr media
Nicholas Hamilton returns as the malicious town bully, Henry Bowers, with Teach Grant portraying the older version in IT Chapter Two. Henry actively challenges the Losers' Club members, only to be referred to as a “paper man” by his father, whom he ultimately murders in the first film. During the sequel, Henry escapes from an asylum and chases after the Losers' Club.
Hamilton previously had roles in Captain Fantastic and The Dark Tower, another Stephen King adaptation. Grant has appeared in the series Altered Carbon and Van Helsing.
The Leper
Tumblr media
In both films, this homeless character is a warped version of Pennywise. Javier Botet reprises his role as the Leper for IT Chapter Two. The Spanish actor previously starred as Tristana Medeiros in the found-footage movie franchise REC, and recently portrayed The Toe Monster in Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.
Georgie Denbrough
Tumblr media
Jackson Robert Scott reprises his role as Bill’s brother, Georgie, who is killed at the beginning of IT Chapter One, and haunts the Losers' Club throughout the rest of the film, namely his brother. Scott's other big role, besides Georgie, is Bode Locke in the series Locke & Key.
Alvin Marsh
Tumblr media
Beverly’s abusive father, Alvin Marsh, is portrayed by Stephen Bogaert in both IT Chapter One and IT Chapter Two. In the sequel, Beverly’s emotional issues as an adult are connected to her experiences with Alvin. Bogaert is known for roles in American Psycho and X-Men: Apocalypse, and he's been the narrator on the TV documentary Air Emergency for several years.
