I know only a few people are in the TMBS and Starkid fandoms, but I gotta say this:

Boy Jerry and Girl Jeri have the same energy as Jackson and Jillson

Camp counselors/teachers? ✅

Matching J names? ✅

The nature of their relationship is confusing? ✅

Yelling at boys and girls for hanging out in each others rooms? ✅

Yelling at kids for hanging out in the woods? ✅

Something sketchy is obviously going on here? ✅

I think the main difference is that Girl Jeri and Boy Jerry are the R-rated versions of Jackson and Jillson, who are the G-rated versions of Girl Jeri and Boy Jerry.

I want to write about Jackson and Jillson being interrogated, but, like, a fic where it switches seamlessly between their stories and always changes mid-sentence. And yet, their story is exactly the same and makes sense.

I have a fic idea: a working-on-redemption Curtain takes everyone to the theater to see a performance of Hadestown (no direct relevance that’s just my favorite musical). Everyone is very wary about it but Mr Benedict is excited because he loves spending time with his family and he enjoys going to the theater. Curtain tells them what the shows about, and Sticky informs everyone about all the different versions that exist of the Orpheus/Eurydice story and the Hades/Persephone story and really just Greek mythology in general. They arrive at the theater before he can finish, tragically. Everyone dressed in fancier clothing because Curtain nearly threw hands with Constance about it it’s proper theater etiquette. They run into Jackson and Jillson, who got jobs as ushers at the theater (at least they think they’re usher. Reynie also saw them when he was buying concessions at intermission).

I don’t have anything in the middle worked out, but by the end almost everyone is in tears and Kate hugs her friends and declares she would go to hell for any of them and not look back. (Potential angst moment: she gets separated from everyone as they’re leaving the theater because of all the chaos). Constance, however, fell asleep in her chair. Curtain, after a moments hesitation, picks her up and carries her out of the theater with Rhonda and Number Two on either side of him ready to catch her in case she falls or he drops her. Neither of those things happen though. Almost everyone falls asleep on the drive back. Milligan is driving and Curtain is still awake and now he tries to actually apologize rather than just get in good graces. How that goes depends on my mood while actually writing the fic.

Things I think the MBS kids would dress up as

Reynie - Sheet ghost. Simple, easy, silly, and you can take it off whenever you want to actually play with your friends. Miss Perumal helps him and thinks it's the cutest thing ever

Sticky - Very specific book character or historical figure. Puts a lot of effort into it, but he talks about it so much his friends know who he is so he doesn't care what anyone else thinks

Kate - Milligan. He isn't sure how to bring Halloween up the first year and ends up putting it off until the day of and when he finally does ask she's like "I've got this" and races upstairs only to come back down in a hat and jacket and boots she stole from his closet

Constance - Says she doesn't want to dress up, but later Rhonda finds her going through her disguises. So she helps her pick out something she really likes, but whenever someone asks Constance replies that she's. Like. The abstract concept of thought. Or something

SQ - He does one of those closet cosplay things where it's not hugely complicated and is an explorer or a naturalist or something where he basically wears slightly fancier clothes (Or thrifted ones if he went with Mr. Benedict) and carries his art bag as a prop

Martina - A famous tetherball player of some kind (Sorry, I don't know anything about sports adfjk)

Jackson and Jillson - Each other :)

Miss Perumal? If you look up ‘femme lesbian’ in the dictionary there’s a picture of her

Rhonda Kazembe? Most bisexual to ever bisexual bisexually, we all wish we were as cool as her

Number Two? Transfem lesbian icon with a passion for woodworking no one is doing it like her

Dr Garrison? Finally, representation for loser lesbians who are going through a divorce without ever being married or dating anyone ever

Kate Wetherall? The love of my life when I was eight, queer awakening for so many kids

Martina Crowe? Mean, overly competitive, dramatic lesbians are the backbone of society

Ms Plugg? No thoughts, only buff women <3

Jackson and Jillson? They are something! Good for them

Violet Hopefield? So sapphic that she shares a name with the sapphic flower symbol, beloved <3

Constance Contraire is the only exception, she is an aroace queen
