I'm back on the jaith shit

in particular the James ended up doing substance abuse.

so this is like after the paladins all came back probably after earth has been freed but like imagine if the paladins and the mfes decided to use the head thingys that showed the paladins stuff about each other, and obviously can't really control what if shows. (they do it in pairs)

so it's James turn he hasn't told Keith about how he went feral for like the first few months and or year or two after Keith got kicked and went missing and just imagine the headthingy starts to show the fact that James ended up doing drugs like his own father after his mother left

James screams mother issues and father issues and his family are probs all dead anyway but still like father like son and all that

it shows James struggle with substance abuse for about like I wanna say 30 seconds before James just yanks the thing from his head and goes quiet...very quiet and it just hits Keith that him leaving had consequences even if James promised to not kicked out after Keith, the raven haired boy still left and went missing and was assumed dead for five years and it messed James up so much that it answers all of Keith unasked questions to what happened to James and why he changed so much

as apprentices when Redpaw and Flintpaw’s beefing got REALLY annoying, Badgerheart and Sparrowtail cooked up a plan where they excused the two from apprentice duties for the day. The catch? they tied them together with a piece of ivy. tough enough to keep them together but not strong enough to withstand heavy tugging. Redpaw and Flintpaw’s goal was to last the whole day without breaking the ivy. Their punishment would be to forage through poison ivy for a piece to replace the one they broke.

and so chaos ensues. redpaw immedoately starts going somewhere and flintpaw is forced to follow because he does NOT want to forage in poison ivy. the entire time flintpaw is nagging redpaw. Redpaw leads Flintpaw to ths very margins of their territory, and of course Flintpaw is skittish the entire time (he cant help but awe at the unfamiliar sceneries and beauty, though).

come the time to share tongues, flintpaw manages to convince redpaw to let him bring a piece of fresh kill to the elders. redpaw then learned the hard way that flintpaw seems to much prefer listening to the stories of the elders to eating. redpaw was famished by the time flintpaw and him made it back to the fresh kill pile.

redpaw settled down for a nap almost immediately after eating, much to flintpaw’s dismay (he wanted to go out and walk around for a bit, the places redpaw took him to were actually pretty interesting). he reluctantly settled down near redpaw to nap a bit too, and when he wakes briefly theyve both snuggled tightly against eachother. the crisp breeze of the coming leafbare was much more bearable that way. Flintpaw fell back asleep without complaint. both were purring.

they ended the day much better off, but neither of them could help themselves when it came to a friendly sparring. what started as taunting taps from redpaw on flintpaw’s face became a full on play fight, and unlucky for them the ivy snapped. just as badgerheart and sparrowtail came back from patrol, too.

to redpaw’s shock, flintpaw immediately took the blame, even asking that the two of them spare redpaw.

later that night, as flintpaw limped into the apprentices den on itching paw pads, redpaw fed him stinging nettle leaves (redpaw went through the effort to rub the sharp hairs off on a rough rock, he didnt want flintpaw’s mouth to also sting) for the itching, and further licked some chewed up stinging nettle directly onto his paws. he learned this trick from his father, back when he accidentally played in poison ivy as a kitten. redpaw did this till flintpaw was in a deep sleep.

James Griffin Headcanons

Shiro was James's hero growing up, he's the reason that James wanted to be a fighter pilot. So when Shiro went to visit his middle school James was star-struck.

This is why he held so much animosity towards Keith. Because his hero was paying attention to someone who, in his mind, had everything he didn't.

James was an unplanned child, his parents never really paid any mind to him unless they were pushing their unrealistic expectations onto him.

When he joined the Garrison he told his parents that he joined under their biology program instead of the fighter pilot program. When they found out (years later) they disowned him.

James, Ina, and Keith went to the same elementary and middle school. Though they weren't always in the same class.

His parents forced him to learn piano and violin growing up.

He hates nicknames, just call him by his real name.

James used to have a crush on Ina back in middle school; it's a secret he'll take to his grave. Ina knew.

He has Bipolar II, his hypomania episodes consist of racing thoughts, scattered focus, and an increase in impulsivity.

James was actually in a hypomanic state when he made that comment towards Keith.

His depressive episodes are much worse than his hypomanic ones, his longest one was three weeks long. It was after Keith had gotten kicked out of the Garrison.

He is ashamed of his mental illness and keeps it a secret close to his chest. He's afraid of being labeled/seen as “unstable,” and he doesn't want to burden others with his problems.

James has a very strong sense of justice, and this often gets him into trouble.

He and Keith were roommates at the Garrison. They fought consistently for half a year.

After Keith punched James, they both got in trouble (Keith for punching James and James for antagonizing Keith) and had to clean the cafeteria as punishment.

It was the first time Keith and James actually talked to each other as people rather than rivals.

I LOVE James.

I love him but know almost NOTHING about him (canon and Fanon wise)

I hate how he would bully/pick on Keith but he grew up, grew out of it, therefore I love him. I also love his character design, hehe

Watching Tiny Keith beat him up was thrilling and one thing I wished happened in season 8 is when the paladins (+ Coran, can't forget Coran he's such a gorgeous man) and the pilots and the people from the garrison were having one of their many meetings (I think it was the first one they had, actually. I can't remember) and I someone said smth that someone else didn't agree with and Shiro was try calm them down and they just weren't having it and James started yelling at them about chain of command and following orders from superior or some shit and we see Keiths face and I cannot put into words how badly I wanted someone to point out that Shiro technically wasn't their leader anymore and that current leader (Keith) had yet to tell them to shut up and how dare you you need us to save your sorry asses stfu and aahshdgdjdjdjdgfg

But they're not like that and they wouldn't say that but every time I think of James I think of this and I just sit and think.

My all time favourite ship with James is Jeith/Jaith because YES??? There probably was a time when I knew of another ship w/ him but now I can't think of not one.

We don't see James a lot but for the little we do see he has so much character development and I just love him so much like he was this shitty little asshole and then he's grown and responsible and there is no grudge or anything with Keith or anybody- I mean, why would there be? Canon doesn't add the details, just the basic outline and it's up to fanon to fill it in :) (says the girl who doesn't even know the Fanon)

I love James yelling, being yelled at, spying on people, and I wish we had more of him

I view James and Keith as people who definitely knew eachother since childhood, then later at like 5th grade they realized they like liked eachother 😦 n they were all like “WERE NOT BOY KISSERS!!” (They are.)

But Later on in the garrison Keith definitely fell first and had a stupid obvious crush on james and shiro hated it. Not because shiro didn’t like james, just because his younger brother was being fucking cringe

Giving My Favorite Characters Weed: Voltron Edition

VLD is obviously set in the future, so let's just say weed is legal. You can get it if you're 18 and have a medical card or are 21 without a med card.

Shiro

Refuses to smoke because it's bad for your lungs.

"The only thing humans should be breathing in is oxygen"

He uses gummies though.

Got his med card when he was 18 to help with the chronic pain brought on by his disability.

The Garrison is ok with weed as long as the user has a medical card, no matter the age.

Probably prefers the body high edibles give because it's a break from the constant pain.

Used to get super blasted with Matt. Shiro would be trying to have a deep conversation with him but Matt's too geeked to understand anything that's happening.

Keith

Definitely smoked underaged, this kid was in the foster care system.

Doesn't like to get too high because it makes him feel out of control.

Has a soft spot for music when he's high. He'd get the music blaring as loud as he wanted in his cabin and let himself get taken away by the sound.

Joints are his favorite way to smoke.

First tried it when he was 15. He caught one of the older kids at the group home smoking it, he offered Keith a couple of hits so he'd keep quiet. (Not that he would've told anyway).

Introduced James to weed.

Prefers to smoke alone, though he does like to hang out with Shiro when he's high.

He likes the introspective thoughts he gets while high and likes to look inward and do some self-reflection.

Lance

Social smoker!

No literally, he only does it when other people are doing it.

Tried it for the first time at a family get-together when he was 16. His cousin let him try some saying "I'd rather you do it in the house than on the street."

Gets the giggles. Seriously he laughs at everything.

Likes to go for walks while high, as soon as the joint hits his lips he's on the move.

Lance doesn't like to smoke alone because he gets way too into his head. He starts to worry about what people think of him, if his friends are really his friends, etc.

Hunk

Have you ever seen a food creation so wild that you think "Ok, whoever came up with this had to have had the munchies."

Yeah, that's Hunk.

His brain just goes wild with different ideas for recipes when he's stoned. He has a notebook for it!

Does not move after smoking. His tolerance is superrrr low so it only takes a little bit for him to be lying on the floor unmoving.

"Hunk? You good buddy?"

*Hunk, lying sprawled out like a starfish* "mmmm great!"

Lance is running around and wants to go for a walk and Hunk is just like wtf.

Only started when Lance proposed a group smoke sesh. (edibles for Shiro)

Pidge

Did NOT smoke underage, her mom would've killed her.

She gets so creative. Give this girl a nice Sativa and she's off working on projects, furiously scribbling ideas in her notebook.

Found Matt's old stash when she was younger, and had no idea what it was. She asked Matt why he had a bag full of loose-leaf tea. (Ik she's a genius but come on, this girl had no idea about anything drug-related).

LOVES to game after a nice big hit. Any game will do as long as she's with her buddies.

Gets really into the growing process. She ends up experimenting with different strains and cross-breeding.

Not to mention she likes to make her own edibles, and she gets really into the science behind it. Testing how different strains feel and experimenting with different flavors.

I need to finish writing that 3 chapter jaith fic I started

anyways, this is such a good headcanon, would James ever pick up the recording/tape to watch it, who knows many in some universe he watched it when he got it in others it gathers dust

man Keith just seeing James turn his head away and is just filled with thoughts screaming at him to go to the other but his body doesn't move he's just stareing at James through the crowd

headcanon;

that one scene where james takes off his helmet and makes eye contact with keith is the second time he sees keith.

when the lions arrived on earth, keith’s eyes search for james among the cadets. but when he finally spots james, james turns his head and looks away. he couldn’t meet keith’s eyes. how could he? keith left without so much of a word and only left behind his dog tags, almost as if it was a promise of returning(james wanted to assume)

however he didn’t return, when james came to his senses, he clung onto the dog tags and had to accept the fact that keith is never coming back, keith never cared, keith never sent any messages back—until he received a recording addressed to his name

the recording that is gathering dust on his nightstand.

I had this art idea for James that I wanna draw (I guess animate in this sense) but it needs perspective to actually portray what I want it too but idk how to do perspective and I don’t have the time atm to learn so just bare with me

On my James hc that he has de-realization I was imagining like he’s sitting on the bed, the camera view coming at a tilted angle where you can’t see his face but only like 3/4’s of his body. As he’s sitting on the bed his face is slowly looking up, takes a small look around, then back at his lap. Then he’d slowly lift up his hands and stare at them and that’s where the scene would end

An explanation for it is 1) not only are we watching him do this the camera angle is James watching himself, too

2) the inspection of his hands is just being analytical of himself like “I exist?” “Is this actually real?”

3) the angle is specific (and meant to be the one im thinking of) because the reason why you can’t see his face and only parts of his body is meant to represent like

“I know where I came from. I know who my parents are. I know the soil in which I step on, but still I have to ask. Who am I?” Hopefully that actually makes sense ?? Im running on like 4 hours of sleep and tea idk
