Made a reuploaded version of the James somerton apology video because the cunt deleted his/couldn't stomach the thought of leaving it up

It is sped up to around 1.5x and I think I cut some of the pauses out in the beginning

youtube drama is very downplayed when it comes to its impact on tumblr (discussion of it usually ends as rapidly as it begins) so the fact that hbomberguy has been the top trending tag for several days now shows how much of an impact his video essay has made on the writing and video community as a whole. his video has spread so much awareness over the rampant plagiarism issue that has been festering under people’s radar for years now while dozens of youtube “creators” make six figure salaries off other peoples words and research. he effectively took off so many people’s rose tinted glasses and made us all blatantly aware of what an absolute shitshow this problem is now in modern media and how manipulated content has become

on a real note that bit near the end of the video was genuinely haunting. hearing somerton talk about how gay writers are erased from history was one thing (with all the irony being that he stepped on the backs of numerous underpaid, underprivileged and uncredited queer writers to build his youtube channel) but when h revealed it wasn't even somerton's quote in the first place? the worst, most crushing sort of irony. how do you lament about the erasure of gay people and gay writers in history... whilst erasing a gay writer and taking his words as your own?

Just leave, there is a wide world out there without the relentless scrutiny of the people who are definitely rooting for you to fail again. Also sorry this is petty but James Somerton is soooo bad at cinematography. Does he not understand the framing of your shot affects the mood of it? There's a reason why super close up shots of someone's face like this are often used in movies for brief tense moments, or in extended shots, to unsettle the viewer and make them uncomfortable. It's genuinely an awful shot to maintain for the entire 40 minute video.

Kinda wish that people would be giving the same kind of criticism and scrutiny to Internet Historian that they have been giving to James Somerton. IH is a much bigger and more well known channel and his cave video got a lot more attention. Like I know his video got taken down, and he's only done this to one video (that we know of) but he employed the same sort devious tactics to try and hide his plagiarism, so would be nice to see the same sort of outrage for him too.

All good! I think it's important that this gets shared because James and his bullshit need to end. Permanently.

His ideas are not wanted or needed, and I sincerely hope he does not make a return to YouTube like he said he was planning on.

He is incredibly slimy and I hope this has given him a reality check, especially in terms of his statements and usage of passive voice in order to portray himself as a victim.

Thank you for your support, and I hope you know I'll be keeping up with James and everything he's doing, at least for a little while.
