Today's November 7th tasks for #jayjaysbookishbirthday - #HoldMyPlace - and #bookscoasttocoastnov - #UnpopularOpinion - are once again combined! 😄😍❤ . . . . The top two books are for the Unpopular Opinion and the bottom two are holding my place! I just finished The Good the Bad and the Undead by Kim Harrison and am about to start Every Which Way But Dead, so there isn't a place needing to be held right now. But if you want to see my #FavoriteBookmark, which is in Every Which Way But Dead waiting to go into service, turn to Photo Two! 😄😍❤ . . . . The top two books are in the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton: Book Three - Circus of the Damned - and Book Seven - Burnt Offerings. I don't know how unpopular my opinion is, but I hope with every fiber in my being that one day @official_lkhamilton will KILL both Richard and Asher in a book. I don't like either of them. Actually, I think it's fair to say that I HATE both of them. 😠😠😠 . . . . A more unpopular opinion might be that I LIKE the post-CHANGE books. Some of them I even love! Like Cerulean Sins - Book 11 - and Hit List - Book 20. 😄❤ . . . . But to get back to the #UnpopularOpinion tag, we are introduced to Richard Zeeman in Circus of the Damned and to Asher in Burnt Offerings. 😠 . . . . The most unfair thing about my hating these two men is that both have promise when they're introduced. But then they morph: Richard hates his beast and lets his unhealthy opinion rain on Anita and Asher is insecure and grows worse as the series goes on. My most favorite moments in this series are arguably when Richard finally messes up so badly that Anita ends things with him and when Asher finally beats a dead horse and gets kicked out of St. Louis by Jean-Claude. 😃😄❤ . . . . Unfortunately, I can never remember in which book these final scenes take place. If you look at this photo and feel a sense of déjà vu, haha the joke's on you! ("Look Ma, I made a rhyme! 🤣) I shared this photo as yesterday's November 19th post! Only without the candle burning in the inset! 🤣😍❤ . . . If that's not enough for Jay's #Jokester task, in the Hollows series by Kim Harrison, Jenks is a bit of a jokester, to Ivy and Rachel's chagrin. 😉❤ . . . . For the #CurrentlyBurning portion of today's post, I lit my Marauders' Map candle from @cauldroncandleco to go with the final four Harry Potter books in the stack on the right. It is burning in the inset with my two #CurrentReads and my Dad to watch over it. 😍❤😍 . . . . I am still reading both For a Few Demons More by Kim Harrison (The Hollows series book five) and Orange: The Complete Collection, Volume 2. The plan I shared earlier for reading the latter is proceeding as I wished. Although my buddy and I did complete Orange early in the afternoon and then read Chapter One in Haruiro Astronaut. But still! MOST of the third third of the book is left for us to read together tomorrow. 😃😊❤ . . . . For #TomeTropes I love, ALL of these books work. Most of them for the strong friendships: in Orange we have Naho, Kakeru, Azu, Hagita, Taka and Suwa; in #TheHollows - Rachel, Ivy, and Jenks; in the #HarryPotterSeries - Harry, Ron, and Hermione; in the #AnitaBlakeSeries - Anita, Micah, Nathaniel, Jean-Claude, Damian, and lots of others! This is November 19th's post for the #TomeTopple #TomeToppleChallenge - #PreviouslyToppledTomes - and #jayjaysbookishbirthday - #AllPlannedOut - AND #bookscoasttocoastnov - #SquadGoals! 😄😍❤ . . . . For today's daily #TomeTopple7 challenge, my Previously Toppled Tomes that I both own and still have from the library are on the right. They're stacked in order from most recently read to first read, top to bottom. 😄😍❤ . . . . On top is the tome I finished just last night: #OrangeTheCompleteCollection Volume 1 by #IchigoTakano! Then we have #HarryPotterSeries books seven through Four, which were read in #TomeTopple6. And on the bottom we have #CrimsonDeath by #LaurellKHamilton and #TheNameoftheWind by #PatrickRothfuss , which were read in August of 2017's Tome Topple, my first. 😊😍❤ . . . . The only two of these editions that I've actually read are the first volume of Orange: The Complete Collection and Crimson Death. The others were all purchased after the Tome Topples in which I read them. 😊❤ . . . . For #jayjaysbookishbirthday All Planned Out task, I present to you my Plan for Reading #Orange! I read Volume 1 over three days - one Part per day - and I'm tentatively planning to read Volume 2 the same way! If my buddy read partner agrees. 😊❤ . . . . And for #bookscoasttocoastnov Squad Goals task, I present to you the two squads in my #CurrentReads! In Orange, Volume 2, the friendship between Naho, Kakeru, Suwa, Hagita, Azu, and Taka is fabulous! I am reading The Waste Lands by Stephen King - and also Orange: The Complete Collection, Volume 1 by Ichigo Takano (not pictured) - on the couch in the living room. My legs are covered by two blankets because it gets chilly this close to the window. 😄❤ . . . . My #bookcrown is rather awkward, don't you think? But it hopefully work. I used the illustrated pages in this book to make the low dips and the pages between the illustrations are the spires. 😍❤ . . . . The book in this photo is, of course, my #CurrentRead, #TheWasteLands by #StephenKing! It's my #TravellingBook for Jay's challenge! Because in this book, Roland, Susannah, Eddie, and Jake (!!!) are travelling to the Dark Tower. On foot no less! Turn to Photo Two to see the cover of The Waste Lands with my Max. 😄😍❤ . . . . Did I tell you that I finished Book One - Jake last night? I finished it at just before 7:00p on November 16th. That put me beyond the halfway point! How did I accomplish this miracle of reading 157 pages in this book in one day? Why, by getting the audiobook from @audible! 😄❤ . . . . Listening while reading along greatly helped me make progress in this story. 😊❤ . . . . Last night I also read the first four of 12 Letters in #OrangeTheCompleteCollection Volume 1! In other words, I am a third of the way done with the first compendium of Orange! I reached this goal at 10:15p on the 16th. 😄❤ . . . . Tonight I'd love to finish The Waste Lands, but probably I'll still be reading it come tomorrow. I'm also hoping to read Letters 7 and 8 in Orange, having read Letters 5 and 6 earlier this afternoon. It runs through 11:59p on November 29th. And these times are for you, too, in whatever time zone you're in! 😄❤ . . . . The books in the first photo are what I'm mostly hoping to read in this round of #TomeTopple. #TheWasteLands by #StephenKing is NOT a tome in this edition (422 pages), but I'm still reading it, so that's why it's in this #TBR Photo. Earlier today I made it past the halfway point! Tomorrow I'll start Book Two on page 219. 😄😍❤ . . . . I stopped reading The Waste Lands at dinnertime so as to start my first tome, #OrangeTheCompleteCollection: Volume 1, by #IchigoTakano! I'm hoping to finish this book no later than Sunday so that I can start Volume 2 on Monday! 😄😍❤ . . . . I'm also planning on reading the next three Hollows series books by #KimHarrison during this two-week 'thon. #ForaFewDemonsMore (512pp), #TheOutlawDemonWails (496pp), and #WhiteWitchBlackCurse (549pp) aren't all +500-page books, but The Outlaw Demon Wails is close and since together the three books add up to 1,557 pages, I'm going to count all three as Tome Topple reads! 😄😍❤ . . . . Lastly, #It by Stephen King is in this photo, too. I'm still on page 251 in it, having read NOTHING since November 4th. 🙈😕 I'd kinda like to finish it this month, so a Tome Topple read it might be. 🤔 . . . . You may recall that Jake died in the Dark Tower Book One, but he is being strongly remembered in this third Dark Tower book and I daresay Roland feels and/or felt at least a little bit of love for the boy. I pulled out my copy of Amelia Bedelia - Fiftieth Anniversary Edition! - and am sharing the final page. 😍❤ . . . . For a quote, I direct you to "Mrs. Rogers learned to say undust the furniture, unlight the lights, close the drapes, and things like that." 😄❤ . . . . If you want to #QuoteMe, "Think before you speak. Word choice is important to avoid misunderstandings." 😊❤ . . . . Granted, English is a funny language and "dust the furniture" CAN mean to wipe it free of dust - or "undust" - but still, I learned a couple of valuable lessons from this series when I was a #youngreader. One being to watch what comes out of my mouth and another being that a little silliness or clumsiness or being a klutz is A-okay. 😊❤ . . . . I'm sort of cheating on #CountryVibes, but in A Fistful of Charms by Kim Harrison our protagonist, Rachel Morgan, travels with Jenks to an island in Michigan that is inhabited by survivalist werewolves and that does not have any ley lines and does have a forest with real wolves! So it's sort-of country. 😉🤔❤ . . . . And I'm still reading A Fistful of Charms. I'm feeling better today/tonight, but I'm feeling very sleepy after my rough night last night, so I think I'll be lucky to reach the halfway point tonight. I'm presently on page 216 of 510, so not much more to read to reach halfway, but I can't stop yawning! So wish me luck? 🙄🤔❤ . . . . For my #FaveFictionalWorld, that is arguably the Kate Daniels world, created by Ilona Andrews. I LOVE that vampires in this world are unlike any others that I've ever read about. I love that just about every predatory animal has a Were version. I love that witches and gods and monsters and folkloric beings from any culture you can think of (Russian!) exist in this world. I love everything about this world, perhaps especially that technology is crumbling and the internet is now a history lesson. 😄😍❤ . . . . The #KateDanielsSeries is represented by its book one, Magic Bites. And if you read Magic Bites and wonder what the big deal is, please know that I found this first book amazing only when I reread it after reading three or four further books in the series. Because oh boy! Does this series get better! First, A favorite gang of mine is Rachel, Ivy, and Jenks in the Hollows series - like in book three, Every Which Way But Dead by Kim Harrison - at the bottom of the photo. I am still reading this book, but it's only almost 4:30p and I'm almost to page 400, so soon I'll be counting down from 100 to reach the end! 😄❤ . . . . My TRUE favorite gang, though, is arguably Kate Daniels, Derek Gaunt, Ascanio Ferara, Andrea Nash, Curran Lennart, and the rest of their friends and back-up. The #KateDaniels series is not pictured today. None of its books are red or orange! 😉❤ . . . . The books above Every Which Way But Dead are red on the left (x5) and orange on the right (x4). They ALL look orange, though, don't they? The five on the left are definitely red. As I said last month when I posted The Martian by Andy Weir,, I don't have a lot of orange books. I was lucky to find these four. I had to look in three different areas of my bedroom to find these orange books. 😊😍❤ . . . . The red books? I don't know if you can really tell, but the sheets on my bed are blue. And since I just got up from a four-hour nap on this bed, and I'm wearing a royal blue shirt with darker blue sweats, you could say that I'm feeling blue. 😉😍❤ . . . . Shown on my blue sheets, though, are candles purchased from @cauldroncandleco, which I think I bought after seeing some of them on @ebnovels' #Bookstagram feed! I definitely learned about them thanks to @ebnovels. 😊❤ . . . . With the unlit candles, I have today's book - Every Which Way But Dead by Kim Harrison - and some fairy lights that I got in an @pagehabit box. I don't remember if I started subscribing to book boxes because of BookTube or Bookstagram or some other reason, but I know I was glad to get these lights BECAUSE of seeing other Bookstagrammers - @meltotheany comes to mind - post photos with lights like these! 😄😍❤ . . . . And Photo Two shares my Max on my blue sheets. He wasn't feeling blue, but he also wasn't willing to be in another photo. Today's November 4th posts for #jayjaysbookishbirthday - #HomeGrown - and #bookscoasttocoastnov - #DarkBook - are once again combined! 😄😍❤ . . . . I present to you the first 12 books in the Hollows series by Kim Harrison! Not only are the covers all showing scenes at night, making them rather dark, but Rachel Morgan (the main protagonist) is under a death threat and gets involved with a demon right in book one! And this demon is NOT a good guy! As far as I can recall, ALL of Rachel's storylines are rather dark. And unfortunately, even though it's been maybe 10 years since I last read a book in this series, I still remember that eventually a character I like is going to die! 😭😭😭 . . . . If all of that doesn't qualify this series as #DarkBooks, I don't know what would! 😄😉❤ . . . As far as the Home Grown portion of this post goes, I'm pretty sure Rachel was born, bred, raised, and definitely still lives in the Hollows section of Cincinnati! So she's #HomeGrown! 😄❤ . . . . And if that's not enough, we also have my Max in the photo. He's been with me since he was an itty-bitty baby-baby of 5.5 weeks old. So he's grown up with me in this house! 😄😍❤ . . . . Today's November 14th tasks for #jayjaysbookishbirthday - #BirthdayCandles - & #bookscoasttocoastnov - #WorthyRomance - are both represented in the above photo! With the two task items, I have my Max & my #CurrentRead! 😍❤😍 . . . . The #candles in this photo are not necessarily "BIRTHDAY" candles. I don't think I bought them for my birthday, and I probably won't light them on my birthday. Instead, I put four candles in this photo because on December 11th I will turn 44! I'll be FOUR decades plus FOUR years old! So FOUR candles! 😄😍❤ . . . . The candles shown are the three Witcher candles - Geralt, Yennifer, & Ciri - with the Cauldron Blessed candle up top. All are from the wonderful Hilary of @cauldroncandleco! 😄😍❤ . . . . I am still reading the Witcher series by Andrzej Sapkowski. Sadly, I last read book four - I think - in the spring. I'm hoping to finish this series in December. 🙄❤ . . . . For the #WorthyRomance portion of this post, I direct your attention to the Hidden Legacy trilogy by Ilona Andrews down at the bottom of the photo. The romance between Nevada Baylor & Connor "Mad" Rogan is not only worthy, it's smokin' hot! 😄😍❤ . . . . Although I do feel that I should mention that Rogan is MY husband. I graciously allowed him to have an on-screen - so to speak - romance with Nevada for the sake of these wonderful books. 😉😄❤ . . . . And lastly, I switched from reading the Hollows series by Kim Harrison to reading the Dark Tower series by Stephen King, specifically book three - The Waste Lands - because it is due back to the library TOMORROW & I can't renew it because it's an Interlibrary Loan book! 😭 . . . . I'm VERY much hoping to enjoy this third book more than I enjoyed the first two books in the Dark Tower series. But although it's now 10:24p on Wednesday, I'm still not very far into this 422-page story. I'm only on page 33! 😭 . . . .
