Hello,

I’ve not done a Tome Topple in a long, long time, I think I’ve only ever done two of them? And only one I think I ever tracked anything for. For those who don’t know, Tome Topple is a challenge where you read books (not bind ups or anthologies) that are 500 pages or more in any edition (so if the mass market paper back only has 490 pages, but the original hardback had 502 pages, then that’s fine).

So because I love me some challenges and a nice to do list, I’m listing the bingo challenges here. Each tome can only count for two categories. With my full time job, I’m not going to get much done, but I’d like to read two tomes and hopefully cross off at least three categories.

1) The tome that has been the longest on your TBR

2) Read a tome on audiobook

3) Read the longest book on your TBR

4) Read a tome with seasonal colours (spring or autumn for your hemisphere)

5) Read a tome.

6) Read a book by a BIPOC author

7) Read a genre you don’t usually read

8) Read a tome from a series you haven’t read in a while

9) Read a tome started in a previous round, but didn’t finish

So I don’t really have a TBR, but here are some books that might fill some categories.

The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart. It’s the tome that has been the longest on my TBR, and is also from a series that I’ve had on my shelves for so long with the intention of reading, so maybe it would cover both 1 and 8?

The longest book on my TBR would be either the Tale of Genji by Lady Murasaki or Wandering Through Vietnamese Culture by Huu Ngoc, either of which might also count for BIPOC as they are asian (Japanese and Vietnamese respectively) authors. So maybe 3 and 6?

The Poppy War by R F Kuang is one I have on Audiobook and is also a BIPOC author so maybe 2 and 6

I’m starting with Fingersmith by Sarah Waters, it would have been perfect for autumn colours, becasue it’s grey and orange, however it’s not autumn here so I’ll have to look for something else. It’s going to be for both 5 as a read, and also 7 or 9, as i’m not so commonly a reader of historical fiction, however I don’t never read it so... jury’s out.

As for other options, I’ll see.

April 15, 2020 I gave in and listened to ACOTAR. I love finding things I missed from earlier readings and also the little snippets of Rhysand. So many tiny things put in that you can miss the first time around. • The Great is on Hulu! I’ve been waiting for this day! It's time for my favorite readathon, #TomeTopple! It's where I have no excuse but to pick a 500plus-page book and read it. No complaints here! While these two books do satisfy some of the prompts, I elected to pick one audiobook and a physical/digital book. I'm loving the slowest burn that is "The Wall of Winnipeg and Me" by @marianazapata so far! And of course, I'm always in the mood for @authorjamesrollins books; I'm finally picking up "The Demon Crown" (the paperback is 600some pages). I'll try to read as much as I can in between anime episodes and trip-planning. And naps. #TomeTopple Update! I finished my second tome almost three hours ago with my reading buddy on Twitter. #OrangeTheCompleteCollection Volume 2 was pretty good! I really enjoyed the story told in #Orange. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it! 😄❤ . . . . I do wish we could have been told more about the changed future for Naho, Suwa, Kakeru, Azu, Taka, and Hagita. But I'll still give this story four stars. 😊⭐⭐⭐⭐❤ . . . . After Orange, there was a short story called #HaruiroAstronaut. It was rather confusing, as two of the guys were drawn such that they looked almost exactly like Kakeru and Suwa! And the main characters - twins, Chiki and Mami - looked like a cross between Naho and Azu! And not all of the characters could tell the twins apart, so there was confusion there, too. I'd give this story maybe 3.5 stars, but the whole book is going to get four stars. 😊❤ . . . . I'm also still reading For a Few Demons More by Kim Harrison. You can see it in Photo Two! Tome Topple Wrap-Up

So I know this finished on the 12th but I've had poor internet so I wasn't able to update til now. I only read the one book in the time (or at least one tome topple book), but all things considered it was a good one.

I read The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood and I loved it. I've had pretty good luck with my reads so far this year, only one or two that I didn't love, and this was no exception. The story was tragic, the characters unlikeable and the story long and winding: I loved every single minute of it. Atwood is a master of the simple tragedies of life and I'm only surprised that I didn't read this sooner.

In other news this weekend is 24in48, so get ready for that!
