Hello! Neat to see you have a tumblr as someone whose been on this site for a while. Few questions;
Do you have any album / single / etc. that you're most proud of, and/or enjoy performing the most?
Are there any artists you'd name as inspiration for your work?
I'd say the track I'm most consistently proud of is Apple, although I'm really pleased with the more recent song Jeff's Lament
In terms of artists that have been an inspiration, I think you can triangulate my sound pretty effectively by listening to Counting Crows, Hamell On Trial, and the Mountain Goats

sometimes i wonder if i'm going too far by thinking that shauna had an affair mostly because adam reminded her of jackie (his easy-going and extroverted personality, his love for her, his possessiveness of her), and because her affair paralleled with her relationship with jackie, including its toxicity (the triangulation with jeff, the mutually-consuming relationship, the wrongness of acting on her desires such as Sex or Cannibalism)......... but then i remember that adult shauna's VERY FIRST SCENE was her ""regressing"", masturbating as she watched, in her traumatized mind, jeff and jackie together (even if the reality of who she was looking at was wildly different).
without this scene (and a few others), maybe i'd buy that she slept with adam only because she wanted to "get back at jeff", because she has some sort of "cheating kink" (or at least she perceives herself this way), and because she wanted to live her teenage dream of making floppy-haired, artistic boys fall in love with her mysterious self.
but let's be for real. adult shauna excels in surrounding herself with the past, consciously or not. her trauma can be found in all areas of her life, all her surroundings, all her decisions, all her desires, all her relationships. it's in her home decoration, her clothing style, her lack of career, her marriage, her daughter. even before the past came back to threaten and haunt her explicitly (jessica's questions and taissa's campaign on television), even then, shauna was able to look at photographs and perceive completely different people from who's actually pictured. moreover, she sought it, it most probably wasn't the first time. shauna had been living and breathing in the past for 25 years, and it both tormented and comforted her, she hated and loved and wanted it.
so there's no way her relationship with jackie, which had extremely influenced her for so long now, didn't play a big role in her affair. both relationships ended with her lashing out after she realized/believed they read her journals, feeling used by someone "who was supposed to love her".
(i'm not saying adam was "just jackie" in shauna's traumatized mind. i'm saying shauna's affair with adam was a golden opportunity for her to finally go back and relive her teenage years: mostly the thrill love and joy she felt being by jackie's side, the sense of control and the boost of self-esteem of sleeping with someone you shouldn't, but also the guilt and shame she used to feel. and it's easier for shauna to be blind, to believe the affair was about affirming herself and moving on, than it would be for her to identify/accept the real reasons behind the affair. it's exactly like teenage shauna convincing herself she only slept with jeff in particular "to be her own person and to move on from jackie", blind to how the affair was also a way to link her further to jackie. that is, up until jackie was dead and her desire to merge, to be one, to always be together, had no more obstacles, completely overtaking her as jackie's low protein ear was sitting in her pocket).

Everyone heads back to the conference room to talk about the new evidence while Will stays in the interrogation room. You play the voicemail for everyone to hear.
"William, are you there? Something bad is happening. It's dark. I don't know where he's taking me--"
"After that, the signal cuts out."
"Is this the same night she left her mom's house?" Spencer asks.
"Yeah. Will called in an army favor. They triangulated the call to a cell tower in Canada just over the border in Port Huron. It explains why he crossed into your jurisdiction."
"It's also a surefire way to get the FBI involved. He knew we'd investigate an American citizen being held on multiple murder charges."
"You believe him?" Jeff asks you.
"I do." Penelope calls and you place her on speakerphone. "Go ahead, Penelope."
"I have good news and bad news. The good news is that I've got IDs on multiple border crosses for the dates in question. The trouble is, I've got hundreds, and as far as I can tell if your license doesn't ping for any prior felonies, you're pretty much gonna pass go and collect two hundred Canadian dollars."
"She's right. That's the busiest cross in North America. There's a lot of commercial traffic, trucks mostly. Stop and searches would cause too many delays."
"He's got a virtually free pass, and once he crosses, there's nothing but woods to hide whatever he's doing."
Rossi and Hotch managed to get Jeff to release William so that he's under the FBI's jurisdiction. Hotch wants him patrolling the streets like he's been doing. He has a rapport with those people, so he's the best bet in noticing if someone is missing. If something comes up, then there is a lot more manpower to deal with it than what Will's been given.
You and Spencer walk into the conference room where JJ is on the phone.
"Yes, ma'am, right now we just consider them missing. The second I get more information, I'll be in contact with you."
"How's it going?"
"The majority of the people on the street aren't even from Detroit. We don't have last names or hometowns on most of them. Unless there's a missing persons report on file somewhere, it's almost impossible."
"Most of these people's families probably gave up on seeing them long ago," Spencer sighs.
"A mother would never give up." You have to agree with JJ here. If your child went missing, you'd do anything to find them. "Can you hand me William's arrest report?"
Spencer does, and she leaves the room just in time for Penelope to call.
"Yeah, Garcia?"
"Sherlock, it's Watson. I think I've got something."
"What do you have?"
Rossi enters the room to hear what Penelope has to say.
"I checked Detroit crime reports over the last month because Derek and Emily astutely thought there might be some sort of assaults or disturbances having to do with our unsub. Well, it's tres weird but on five of the abduction nights, Detroit PD reports a break-in or a robbery at some type of medical facility."
"What type of medical facility?"
"We got a hospital, blood bank, medical supply company, and the Red Cross. He's not even stealing narcotics. The stuff he took is anesthesia, sterilizing equipment, and syringes."
"Where were these places located?"
"Putnam Street, St. Antoine, East Hancock, and Martin Luther King Boulevard."
"Those are all in the Cass Corridor."
That's where everyone seems to be disappearing from.
"Do you have a list of what else he stole?" you ask and grab a pen and paper.
"IV tubes, an infusion pump, units of O-negative blood, chest tubes, O-silk sutures, and Elastoplast."
"Thanks, Pen." Spencer hangs up. "You don't just randomly know how to hook a line up to an infusion pump, or that O-neg is the only safe blood type for any victim."
"I'll tell Hotch we think we know what he's doing with them," Spencer says.
Rossi and Jeff gather the men and women of the police force so that you can deliver the profile. Something about this doesn't make sense to you, but with all the evidence in front of you, you have no choice but to go with what everyone else is saying.
"We believe the man we're looking for is a sexual sadist. What this means is that for him, torture becomes a substitute for the sex act. The fact that he's stealing medical equipment like sterilizing agents and anesthesia tells us he may be performing experiments or surgeries on his victims," Rossi begins.
"We believe this unsub gets gratification from his ability to keep his victims alive in order to endure more torture. The choice of items stolen is extremely specific, which makes us believe he's got a medical background, so check disciplinary files at hospitals, med schools, and community health organizations. People would have noticed his behavior."
"This is someone who would volunteer to perform painful procedures," you state. "He would spend extra time probing a broken hand or a distended abdomen, and after a long day when everyone else is emotionally drained from multiple traumas and mangled bodies, he'd be the one pushing his coworkers to go out for a drink and talk about their day."
"Now, we know what you're thinking--a profile is fine, but our best shot at stopping this guy is still to catch him in the act. This unsub is extremely smart and obviously organized. He's managed to abduct very different victims with very different abilities, all with no witnesses. That's why we're coordinating with the police and our agents on the ground in Detroit."
"We've also asked Sergeant Hightower to act as a guide on the streets in Detroit while he's in our custody," Rossi says.
Everyone looks at Will who is silent at the table.
"That's it. If you have any questions, you find me or one of the agents," Jeff says to his people.
William is about to get up when he sees someone enter the station with JJ. He goes rigid like he's not expecting someone he knows to show up here.
"What's she doing here?" he asks angrily.
"We've notified all the family members we can locate."
"You have no right."
"It's her daughter," Rossi says. "She has a right to know."
William looks at the picture of his sister on the board and lets a tear roll down his cheek. If he's getting this emotional, then that can only mean the woman with JJ is his mother.
"It's one thing to believe Lee is lost on the streets, but I don't want her to know that there's a killer out there. We know how this is gonna end."
"No, we don't."
"Look, everything I have done is to find the truth so I can spare her. I don't want her living off hope."
"There are worse things," Jeff says.
"You're wrong. Bad news stops us for a while, but then you move on. Hope is paralyzing."
"He has a point," you say. "Hope in situations like this drains you of the person you are. I'd rather the bad news."
His mother stands at the doorway so that when he looks behind him, he sees the look on her face. He gets up to greet her even though he can't seem to say anything. She doesn't say anything but opens her arms for him, to which he hugs her back.
"Oh, my God," she whispers and pulls away from Will to approach the board with all the victims on it. "Are all these people missing?"
"We believe so."
"Do you have any suspects?"
"No, but we have a strategy to try to catch him. William is helping."
"My daughter... Is there any chance she could still be alive?"
"It's possible."
"Do you know what he's doing to them?"
"It's difficult to say."
JJ escorts Will's mother out of the room to sit somewhere else to answer a few questions. You, Hotch, and Will are going to join Derek and Emily down at the station in Detroit while the rest stay in Canada. You reach over to grab Spencer's hand but he quickly moves it away from you.
"Please don't touch me."
"Oh, okay."
"I mean, not my hands," he stutters.
"You don't have to explain yourself. It's okay. I'll call you if we find something."
You leave Spencer with that and head to Detroit with Will and Hotch. Spencer is still probably freaked out about what happened with the whole Anthrax situation, so you'll give him as much space and time as he needs to heal. In the meantime, you have a case to worry about. Emily and Derek meet you at the station when you arrive in Detroit.
"Thanks for believing me," Will says to you and Hotch.
"You don't have to thank us," you say.
"William, I want you to understand that even if we catch him, you're probably gonna end up doing some time in Canada."
"I can live with that."
You three get out and walk over to Derek and Emily who is with a woman.
"Detective Tay Benning, this is SSA Aaron Hotchner and SSA Y/N."
"Hi, this is William Hightower. He's gonna help us on the ground. Will, these are agents Prentiss and Morgan. We should split up and cover male and female potential victims."
We'll take the men," Derek says.
"I'll make introductions for you," Will offers.
"Stay close to your phones. If anyone's out of place, Detective Benning can get a name and a description of our patrol cars as quickly as possible."
You, Emily, and Hotch go off to talk to the women while Will, Detective Benning, and Derek talk to the men. This unsub is going to strike again with someone in this area soon whether that be tonight or tomorrow. He's stuck to a tight schedule in the past and you don't think he's going to deviate from that. Yes, it'd be much easier to approach a prostitute rather than a homeless man, so how is he doing it? The question is, why does he alternate victims in clusters of men and women? Why take the men at all if this has a sexual component to it?
The unsub sees these people as disposable, it doesn't matter if they're male or female. For a sexual sadist, male or female isn't important because the torture itself is the sex.
Unless sex has nothing to do with this.
With the photos that Will provided you with, you're able to go around and check off who is working on the street. There are only three people who have not been accounted for, and you go to Hotch once he's done with his section. Will had come back to Hotch after he made an introduction to Derek, so he is in the car with Hotch.
"We have three unaccounted for."
Hotch and Will get out of the car and approach some girls on the street with you and Emily by their sides.
"Excuse me, ladies, did you see any of these girls leave with customers?"
You show them the photos of the three girls.
"I saw Monica and Sasha leave with two men, but I don't know about Kelly."
"Do you know where they would go?"
"There's a parking lot down at Cass Park. The girls have their Johns park there."
Hotch walks away and dials Detective Benning to confirm this.
"What about Kelly? Is there a reason why you wouldn't have seen her leave?" you ask.
"I don't know. I could have been distracted."
"So, she was here before? Was there any reason she would sneak off?" Will asks.
"I don't know what she does. She's fresh meat out here."
"Okay," Hotch returns, "Detroit PD confirmed two prostitutes with Johns in the parking lot at Cass Park."
"We're short one girl."
"Did you know his sister, Lee Hightower?" you ask.
"Yeah, I knew her."
"Is there any place where she would have taken clients? Maybe somewhere the other girls wouldn't go?"
"She didn't do it normally. She'd try to get a real job but then she'd slip. Then about a month and a half ago, she said she was leaving."
"That's when I took her to my mom's," Will says.
"I haven't seen her since."

Here is a Lego dreamzzz fanfic overview.
It's been a few months since the events of (I'm thinking after this upcoming season 3) and everything's normal for once, until one night, logan notices an alive person inside the dream world before they pursued him until he woke up. This scares the dream bureau as it's not them and call in an expert. The next morning, Lloyd's outside the building telling them he's involved because the bureau is getting stretched thin with everything overnight. The same person chases them but drops a key card for a secret group, which want to weaponise dreams.
The rest of side A is about learning about the group, as they begin catching dreamers and physically too. Eventually, they learn of a meeting in the forest world, and they decide to crash it. However, it's a bait as everyone outside the place was captured and they've surrounded the meeting place to catch our heroes, when logan causes a dream awakening, being able to dreamcaft way more powerfully and for longer (I'm thinking massive animal that izzie names Jeff, suggest if you want an alternative name) and they escape. Lloyd's trying to triangulate the location, saying his old friend would've fount it by now. We also see the real world's storage of the caught dreamers as they wish to expand their rift inside.
Side B takes more of a fight after a joint invention by the bureau, and nova develop a small rift of their own to catch one of them and they do, getting the person to spill their base plan, but not the larger gate being built. Through side B, izzie, cooper, OZ and astrid gain the dream awakening power, and zoey questions the fact logan managed to, but not her yet. Eventually, the secret group decide to take the brooklynn school to finalise the rift. Therefore, mateo decides to enter the dream world with the device attached to him physically as the group arrive, trying to take them all. With such brutal efficiency, one has to adapt, so Lloyd pulls out nitro fists and breaks a wall for them to escape from as he's keeping one hallway in check. However, about nearly everyone is captured, save mateo, who's now physically in the dream world because of a failsafe in the device, zoey by a close shave and Lloyd, who's clearly showing off as he's sandiegoing out of there as his rift energy is still faulty due to the whole zero point petrification in chapter 4. Because nova put a tracker on her phone, they are able to locate the base and pull izzie out carefully. Zoey tries to save the others whilst Lloyd's searching for the gate, seeing it's completion and turn on as they explain they have gadgets to exist in both states at once, and that a caught zoey isn't going to power it, but rather be the first one through as without mateo or izzie, it's highly unstable. Yes, zoey is dropped into the gate before it begins to go haywire, and Lloyd's seeing someone he knows inside, so he makes himself known and collapses the walkway before dropping in himself, knowing they're going for mateo.
Going through has caused some problems, as they look like they survived an explosion with soot and the works, and Lloyd's paragliding unscathed for the reason of experiencing stuff like this before, so he adapted into his armor upon entry. Mateo's in a pickle to they assist him before he learns to dream awaken before the villains pull mateo through and strand the two in the dream world. Now the group can weaponise the joint dream, to force other places to surrender and power the dream further. Zoey is disheartened by being stranded and starting to feel the side effects of being physically inside the dream worlds that are now quiet. The night hunter decides to search the nightmare castle for something hidden as Lloyd's trying to help her, again proving his resistance to natural laws and effects. You see, through the season, he's trying to search for something he found whilst serving the nightmare king: teal dream sand. Rushing back, zoey's worse but believes that the sand has special powers but she's closing her eyes now and he's losing it, to which Lloyd asks how much she meant to him, in which he brings up how Hannah luckily had zoey thanks to a blood transfusion, weeks before birthing her. Lloyd now asks what blood type, to which he says gave Hannah at least 10 more years, which strikes Lloyd with a stark realisation: about not owning an hourglass, the last to awaken and being aware long before we've seen her first. He's able to pull the night hunter to the side as zoey begins to float and the team sand circle around her as she finally dream awakes with visible teal hair strands and some changes to her waking and dream warrior states. Yep. That blood transfusion had zero blood in it, and zoey's now activated, symbolised by her owl pendant glowing teal eyes itself. Zoey and the night hunter go to locate the dream world hold of the group whilst Lloyd works out a way back, in which the never witch has a spell for that. The pair manage to free the captives whilst Lloyd's keeping the waking side busy with the bureau. However, the secret group brought through their mecha weapon dream, holding the dream by sealing the sand in a piece of technology. Therefore, when crossing back over, zoey tries to dreamcraft in the waking world and does so with z blob to fight the mecha dream, with the team taking positions throughout the dreamcrafted build, which is like guardian 2.0. After a massive brawl, the heroes win, and everyone's reacting to zoey's awakening and dreamcrafting in the waking world. A massive team embrace as Lloyd takes the technology using it to study, revealing similar looks to another group elsewhere... He gets a call to break someone out in another reality and leaves with the tech left behind in the building, which zoey feels drawn to. And it tells her the gate must open when wrath arrives. (If you seriously want matey ship stuff, firstly, they're 11 and 14 respectively, so at least 7 years would have to pass, 5 in a really careful way. There would be logan and astrid content, maybe a cooper interest of someone else other than izzie [I know shippers go crazy like electric sparks])

How do organizations typically struggle with creating disruptive innovations, and why might they need to consider appointing an unfiltered leader to drive such changes?
COMMENTARY:
What exactly does this question mean? It sounds like it was constructed from a word cloud from the triangulation of Steve Forbes, Elon Muck and Donny Trump, Junior, .
The 2024 election comes down to a dimple business decision of a national business culture based on Mark Curban’s , Taylor Swift’s and Fran Drescher’s DEI/Quality Assurance Be All You Can Ben performance technology or the business culture of the white supremacist economics and Corleone crime family values of Elon Musk, Scooter Braun and the Christian Nationalism of MAGA Mike Johnson,.
Organizations dominated by executives with Harvard MBA diplomas confuse strategic thinking with being early adopters of the latest fad in management theory,
As a process theory guru, my essential management theory is Henri Fayol’s 14 Principles of Management. https://www.simplilearn.com/principles-of-management-by-henri-fayol-article
Now, Mark Cuban understands this at pretty much the same level as I do, His performance model and mine are essentially identical and they originate with Esprit de Crops. That’s the origins of DEI performance technology, the same performance technology of the US Army Ranger School.
The white supremacist economics of the Harvard MBA program has just 13 principles based on Jeff Bezos’ anti-labor business model. The Harvard MBA business model is basically Jefferson Davis’s State’s Rights theory of property, labor and the means of production,
In the current Harvard MBA business model, Esprit de Corps is property, It’s what Fredrick Winslow Taylor has in common with Marx: bot theories assume the fallacy that Capital/Management and Labor are antagonistic agendas and their systems were specifically designed to suppress or compromise or exploit Esprit de Corps. The French Revolution is what happens when the Harvard business Model collides with entrepreneurial disruption. And that struggle between DEI high performance and the white supremacist economics of the Harvard MBA program is what the Boomers were all about and what we can leave behind in this election by voting for the DEI capital budget of Biden’s Build Back Better capital budget,
The point of Critical Race Theory isn’t to establish that white supremacy is an unnecessary social burden, but to systematically repair the damage racism has done through the Constitutional capitalism of the Declaration of Independence and W. Edwards Deming’s Quality Assurance protocols which emerge as a practical program of social transformation for Fortune 500 corporations with DEI high performance technology, In important ways, Critical Race Theory is part of Eisenhower’s Marshall Plan for America in his 1956 Presidential Platform, The social contract of the Declaration of Independence is based on Esprit de Corps in a DEI milieus to nurture the human potential of the individual as an expression of the Rights of Man,
The votes this time is between the Starship Capitalism of Taylor Swift’s 13 Productions or Dilbert and the Boss from Hell.

My unpopular opinion that goes against the infosec community's mainstream outrage: don't claim you're a defender of democracy if you're against the Brit gov to use WhatsApp.
Democracy to function has to be transparent, isn't it? A forwarded message from a WhatsApp group to another means the information can circulate among the population, the citizens who vote to be represented by a government. When information is obscured and restricted by the government, it's not democracy but autocracy.
Sure, there is a lot of classified information going across the UK Prime minister cabinet... But the argument against the mobile app owned by an American corp, translates two facts ignored or forgotten by the proponents of that silly complaint:
1/ The UK is part of the Five Eyes
2/ Unlike Asian countries, the UK didn't build a national mobile app, such as WeChat in China, and KakaoTalk in South Korea.
Could WhatsApp be a new concept model that will replace WikiLeaks platform? Hence, a threat for the corrupted politicians' mental model.
Jeff can you transmit my analysis to the UK gov cyber advisory board? Do you enjoy participating in, from your seats at Seattle and Singapore?
Don't forget our future cocktail party at the Raffle, owned by Groupe Accor, a French CAC 40 company (equiv. Fortune 500). We'll ask Dave to order black pepper crab.

Shauna always being in the middle of a triangulation is absolutely fascinating.
Her/Jeff/Jackie
Her/Jackie/Taissa
Her/Jeff/Adam
Her/Jeff/Callie
And now, most recently, her/Taissa/Lottie.
She’s so wanted and desired as mother, as lover, as friend, and many of these relationships are or have been fraught in respect to a thousand little breakdowns in communication. Some people demand too much of her. With others, she doesn’t ever give enough. She tries to straddle the lines between the people she cares about most and ends up hurting them both. Sometimes, it’s on accident. (Adam was caught in the crossfire between her undealt with trauma and increasing paranoia.) Other times, she’s so tenderly twisting the knife into her best friend’s exposed spine.
Of course she feels most alive when she’s courting interpersonal tension and fracture; it’s the only stable pattern she has ever known.

I feel like there's this reactionary centrist narrative that "oh, center-left parties would win big if they just stopped talking about trans issues and immigration and all that other icky stuff" that's the reactionary centrist mirror to the leftist "oh, center-left parties would win big if they just adopted strongly redistributive economic policies and followed a non-interventionist foreign policy," and I just don't think either of those things are true. I think the reactionary centrists want a center-left party that doesn't make a big deal out of progressive social issues because they don't care about those issues, and leftists want a party that, well, governs leftistly, but neither have any data to support the contention that their preferred vision of center-left politics is actually popular, and I think that in fact many center-left parties (especially the Democrats, who have to navigate a stricter two-party system than most) are in fact triangulating a set of positions that brings together--or attempts to bring together--a maximally viable electoral coalition. And parties that explicitly try the left-populist-economics-sans-progressive-social-politics like the BSW are in fact comparatively fringe--because the slates of policies that tend to be linked in center-left politics are not in fact a randomly chosen grab bag. They're historically and causally connected.
And I think purely cultural explanations for educational polarization are insufficient. It doesn't help that many of the people who posit that explanation don't seem to distinguish between, like, the "elites" as in "celebrities whose name the general public knows" and the "elites" as in "people who actually control major political and economic institutions." John Roberts and Jeff Bezos are much more elite in terms of "wielding actual power and influence over society/politics/the economy" than, like, Alec Baldwin or Jamelle Bouie, but for some reason "elite" seems to encompass the latter and not the former. I believe some people feel more aggrieved and oppressed by the latter "elites," but it's also clearly true that these people have in some real sense been duped, or at the very least have some kind of misfire going on in terms of their understanding of power structures, and I think examining the political dynamics of that process are going to be more informative than trying to argue that (essentially) people are being negatively polarized by the writing staff of the sitcoms they watch.
I simply do not think that “political polarization across the western world is driven by people with college degrees infiltrating media and talking about LGBT rights” is especially compelling as an explanation, and I’m pretty surprised that there are people who find that plausible. Like. Media and government and such have always been disproportionately dominated by people with higher educational attainment and wealth; surely the biggest story there is that educational attainment has been becoming more broad-based for decades; and even if it were true this thesis wouldn’t explain why educational attainment correlated with increased social progressivism in recent years when it didn’t as recently as a couple of decades ago.

The Company She Keeps
Tumblr media
Jane Greer may have been in the right place at the right time to play Kathie, one of the great film noir femmes fatales, in OUT OF THE PAST (1947), but lightning only struck once for her. She’s one of the most frustrating instances of Golden Age Hollywood not knowing what do with an actress (being one of Howard Hughes’ lust objects didn’t help). She has moments in John Cromwell’s THE COMPANY SHE KEEPS (1951) finer than some performances that were winning Oscars at the time (she would have been terrific in THE COUNTRY GIRL). Watch her here in the department store deciding not to shoplift, and you’re seeing an actress who in a just world would have been raking in awards and box office. Instead, she’s stuck in an interesting if still superficial variation on the eternal triangle. She’s an ex-convict with a chip on her shoulder who falls for parole officer Lizbeth Scott’s boyfriend (Dennis O’Keefe). There are moments when the script calls for nostril-flaring dramatic mugging, but most of the time she’s incandescent. Scott, who wanted a good girl role as a change of pace, doesn’t stand a chance against her, though she gets a few sparks going when she confronts Greer over their romantic situation. Were O’Keefe a weaker actor, it would all read as a lesbian version of triangulation. He’s charming as a newspaper columnist and makes his infatuation with Greer believable. Nicholas Musuraca did the great black-and-white cinematography. Fay Baker is very good as a fellow parolee, with Irene Tedrow as Greer’s landlady, John Hoyt as a judge, Kenneth Tobey as a hash-house waiter and Beau and Jeff Bridges (the latter in his film debut) as kids at Union Station.

Amphibia Reviews: The First Temple or Bessie and Joe: The New OTP
Tumblr media
Hello all you happy people! Amphibia season 2 moves right a long and it’s time for some video game shenanigans as we enter The First Temple! Family drama, snail on bird action, and outhouses await you under the cut with a recap/review with full spoilers.
Tumblr media
So we open with the Plantars having chocopillbug pancakes. Ironically my mom offered me chocolate chip pancakes after this and thank god for that. This is a rare treat to the point Anne didn’t even know they had choclate, and is suprisingly not strangling Hop Pop over this. Unsuprisingly he broke out the good stuff to try and make up for hiding the box and things are still VERY awkward between the two, with Hop Pop walking on Egghshells around Anne and Anne doing the same when he brings it up with both desperatley trying to avoid the subject and Sprig not helping by bringing it up a bunch.
I like this a lot and didn’t really think about the series continuting any tension over his decision.. but should have. Partly because this is a modern animated show and most of this wonderful new wave of shows have a LOT of emotional nuance. ANd partly because this show dosen’t forget things even most nuanced shows forget: the fact the characters cause chaos and learn life lesons is outright RECOGNZIED by the show as a pattern and brought up quite often, as are the patterns that lead to it, like mostly being sprig and anne, anne’s impulsivness that sort of thing. It’s the kind of thing you just gloss over in most shows but this one lampshades to hell and back for funsies so when something THIS important happens, you’d better belivie it’s not just going to disappear.
The tensions thankfully broken by a new arrival, as a massive sparrow shows up in the yard. “It’s a giant bird with.. books on it’s back.. what. “ Great delivery from bill there. Naturally it’s Marcy!
Tumblr media
I missed this little goober. Such a joy to be around, and she of course marvels over the Plantar’s house before getting back on track: She’s found the first temple.. even though she sent a letter saying that and it’s not commented on that she did. It set off the whole previous episode Marcy... you okay Mar-Mar?
Tumblr media
That aside though it’s time for the first temple and Marcy asks for the Box, with Sprig trying to make a joke about how good thing she didn’t ask for it a week ago.
Tumblr media
Polly rightly punches him in the ribs... do frogs have ribs? Hold on.. okay here we go
Tumblr media
Huh.. so they do not You learn something new every day. Well lack of ribs or no our heroes are ready.. while Marcy’s sparrow Joe is also ready TO GET IT ON. Yes really, he does a mating dance for Bessie, complete with an intersumental version of “Sylvia” from last season. God damn that bird’s got game. The only time i’ve seen more game is THIS.
Marcy tells him to knock it off. Look marcy your a pet owner now and as a pet owner, it’s your responsiblity.. to let your giant bird do horrifying things with a slightly smaller but still giant snail. it’s what nature intended. Nature was doing a lot of cocaine that day but we still honor her wishes.
But anyways Marcy’s figure out something intresting about the box.. by winding it just right the gems pop out, which allows her to take one, we later find out it’s the green one, to use in the temple. So off we go with Marcy and the rest of the kids up top and Hop Pop.. screaming in Joe Sparrows claws. He’s fine.
So while they get ready, Anne worries about the amount of puzzles and hazzards Marcy’s hyping for this but Marcy shurgs it off and gives her own big boast about how may RTS she’s beaten.. suspciously like Yuaan as one post on here pointed out. Not a huge suprise though, to Marcy she’d just be the grand hero out of one of her rpg’s and not think of how many people she probably killed or who she’s working for.. though you’d THNK given all the RPG’s both tapetop and on her switch she’s played, that Marcy would see that “the benevolent king turns out to be the big bad” trope coming.
But Anne’s worry is not on the big bad of the show but on Marcy who has a tendency to get so in the zone she ignores the world around her, which goes from focusing on her game while helping anne get softserve leading to a mess, not letting Anne down in a play and.. Anne catching Marcy on tv as all the snakes escape from the zoo.
Tumblr media
Regardless our heroes arrive and while the awkwardness between anne and hop pop continues, they find a majestic temple.. and what appears to be an outhouse. Hey we all gotta poop sometimes, even people making a majestic temple.  If you don’t it comes out like this.
Tumblr media
So they head in and we get our first puzzle, a mysterious cube that lifts you into the air and allows you to tilt the thing around.
Tumblr media
Those of you wondering why I have such a strong reaction have ever never played breath of the wild or played it with a pro controller, i.e. NOT having to tilt the very thing your screen is on because Nintendo has failed to grasp that MAYBE people don’t like that, that it takes you out of the experince and that it’s really hard to focus on your screen while having to move the fucking system about. And the plantar’s getting horribly jostled around as she moves it is EXACTLY how it feels to play a puzzle requring that shit.
Next is a color based tile dungeon leftover from Link’s Awakening DX. As marcy figures out the reds do fire and the blues do crushing... but she reads the language (And as she put earlier “Guess who learned an entire dead language?” God she’s precious. ) and finds a green with envy pun (Which Hop Pop takes offense to.. several of his friends are green.). Which is curious as given several citzens of amphibia are green.. why would they make a green pun? So she gets on one tile and Hop Pop plans to take the risk of getting on the other green tile, but Anne does it instead.. and things get heated between the two as Anne reveals she no longe feels like family since he did what he did for polly and sprig and hop pop takes offense as she IS. Even if he screwed up with her. But Anne’s near death experince activates the tile.
The final challnge switches us from Zelda.. to Harry Freaking Potter.
Tumblr media
Now I used to love Harry Potter, with all of my heart. Then JK Rowling turned out to be a transphobic piece of shit who thinks she’s an ally, but is really a bigot who wants to “accept” trans people without giving them any rights. So yeah while I still love the starkid musicals, ore more accuratley the music from them, and own a copy of lego harry potter I got as a gift recently as both parties had no idea she was a monster when this stuff was made. Still a sore subject though, but if I didn’t bring up the similiarties I wouldn’t be doing my job as a critic and this was likely thought up long before JK outed herself as well...
Tumblr media
No no the great mighty poo respects all peoples.. and wants to take their heads and ram it up his butt. He’s an equal opportunity butt rammer.
Anyways this is the frog equivlent of chess flipfrog, and just like with Wizard chess, our heroes end up as the pieces minus marcy.. and in a nice twist on that scene, Anne ends up on the other side. Marcy is a grandmaster at it though so after an hour or so of play she almost wins.. only for the king equilvent to refuse to be taken and the automatic board she’s up against to send Anne against hop pop, and with our heroes magically restrained and given stone weapons, this can’t end well. Eventually though Anne’s forced to hit HOp Pop multiple times and while he says “well isn’t this what you wanted”, she says no.. she didn’t want to phsyically hurt him it’s just complicated. So we get one heck of an emotioinal scene as Hop Pop just wants to help and wants this to stop and dosen’t knoow how to fix this which as someone who desperatlyt ries to fix most emotional situations right away this hit very hard.. and her response of needing time hit harder. The two while not reconciled, ar ecloser to it and Marcy realizes what she’s done getting so obessed with winning and forfits for thier benifit. Our heroes leave, seemingly having lost.. only to find glowing arrows to the crap hole, which turns out to be the pedistal. The temple wasn’t just an intellegence test but empathy.. and the temples are clearly built to specifically test each of the chosen three, our heroines, specifically. Marcy’s tested her intellegence.. but also her willingness to let go of cold clyincal thought to do the right thing. That earns her her gem recharged and a flash in her eyes and her gem starts pointing to the next. She needs time to triangulate and hop pop and anne are back on workable footing... though our heroes offer to take a break instead of going to the next temple.
Back in Newtopia, Yuaan reports on the toads gathering.. but dosen’t get to mentioning sasha before Marcy’s letter interrupts and Andridas oddly and aburbly dimisses her.. and goes to talk to a watcher with a thousand eyes, his “master” who has plans to undo the prophcey and get their revenge.
Tumblr media
Final Thoughts: This was a damn fine episode that gave Marcy some much needed character development, and gave the reveals of last episode some more emotiional fallout.  It also had some really great jokes as always. Top notch stuf.
Next Time: Marcy tries to win everyone over through science and we FINALLY get an episode with the Frog Robot apparently. Horay
Next on this Blog: We go into final space yo! It’s unexpected births, ho yay, and horrifying zombie gary’s galore!
Until then if you liked this review, follow me for more, join my patreon, comission a review if you please and i’ll see you at the next rainbow. Play us out jeff... and I haven’t done THAT bit in a while but eh. This song was too perfect.

Owl Creek Ski House is a project designed by Skylab. Perched on the hillside, with panoramic views of Snowmass Mountain, the Owl Creek residence was built on the idea that a physical place can deepen the connections between friends, families and the natural world. The project vision included creating a collection of lodge-like communal spaces surrounded by naturally weathered and local materials providing an abundance of access to natural light, and min-imizing visual separation from the outdoors. This 4,500-square-foot, all-weather mountain retreat is about enhancing and recharging social relations and maximizing connections to the native environ-ment.
Site constraints were central to the design response and ultimately informing the spatial concept to triangulate the structure working with the existing sloping terrain. It turned the strict height limitation and slope constraints of the site into an advantage by anchoring the structure into the landforms. The structure frames powerful views through two principal façades, maximizing the visual connec-tion to the landscape at every angle. Strategic decisions in the frame and form allowed for efficien-cies and functional benefits, including a triangular structural steel frame with car decking to mini-mize costs through prefabrication, and a roof slope to move water and snow downslope. Finishes and interior relationships (featuring a palette with wood, stone, and weathering steel) were carefully crafted to draw the scenic landscape inward and extending the outdoor deck living experience. A central spiraling split-level arrangement allows for the living room, fireplace, bar and lounge to feel like intimate spaces with a communal energy. Terracing theater seating maximizes space within the stairwell working with the topography.
Compact and efficient private sleeping wings open to expansive outdoor views at the lower level. Exterior spaces open interior activity to the outdoors including a triangular spa with an elevated deck and an expansive outdoor terrace right off of the kitchen. The Owl Creek residence provides a platform to gather in a shared living environment connected to their surroundings with purpose, deepening family connections.

Listed: Three Lobed Recordings
Tumblr media
For 20 years, Three Lobed Recordings has explored the outer reaches of psychedelic music, presenting Bardo Pond’s heaviest, most improvisatory albums, documenting the American primitive revival via recordings of Jack Rose and Daniel Bachman, listening to emanations from space-age folk troubadours like Wooden Wand, Sunburned Hand of the Man and Matt Valentine and generally pursuing the beauty of experiment, wherever it occurs. To celebrate these past two fruitful decades, label founder Cory Rayborn lists ten of the albums that define Three Lobed (and, necessarily, leaves out others equally valid and interesting). We look forward to lots more in the decades to come.
Personal Choice Cuts from the TLR Catalog (in no particular order, 9 of which might be different if you were to ask me tomorrow).
Gunn-Truscinski Duo — Ocean Parkway (2012)
Ocean Parkway by Gunn-Truscinski Duo
Every time I listen to this album, especially the title track, I feel transported. Long ago my college roommate Jon Nall articulated a test for transcendent songs, for the ones that impact you no matter how many times you hear them. He summed those all-time tracks up as the ones where the hairs on your arms uncontrollably stand up every time you hear them. While every track on this album does it for me every time, throwing me into a sort of uncontrollable head nod and body sway, I am always fully taken away by the entirety of the title track and Steve's swirling guitar build over the entire eighth minute punctuated by the ecstatic tones he hits at 9:06. Yow. The feeling I get from this album is why the label exists.
Various Artists — Eight Trails, One Path (2012)
Eight Trails, One Path by Various Artists
Record Store Day is tough. I love the attention and cash it puts into the hands of independent retailers but hate how commodified it has become over time by the powers that be / majors who see it as an excuse to pump out a bunch of junk that will end up being shelf warmers and ankle weights on those same retailers they claims to be supporting. The first few years when most of the titles were truly from and by indies it was a lot of fun. That was the feeling that led to wanting to put out an RSD title in mid-2011 (an illness I’ve since overcome). Originally conceived as a joined pair of split 7"s, it morphed into a triple 7" and then to a full length album. I wanted to showcase different approaches to solo guitar work and set out to ask a lot of my favorites. I also wanted to put together a special package which was fleshed out with help by Casey Burns on graphics, Grayson Haver Currin on words and Jeff Mueller on printing. I’m still amazed at the interlocked nature of all of the contributions to this one, from Six Organs’ spiritual sibling to “Ascent” in the form of “Stranded on Io” (a track that is a wordless tale all within itself) to the circular beauty of David Daniell’s “Housewarming” and everything else on here. I really love this record.
Tom Carter — Long Time Underground (2015)
Long Time Underground by Tom Carter
Late in 2013 I was chatting with Tom about what shape a record should take. He wanted to go to Black Dirt and get a good, clean capture of what he had been working on with Jason Meagher. TLR is always onboard with a Black Dirt election. Fast forward several months and family TLR was visiting some friends in Vermont around the same time Tom was in the area. We met up and he handed off the masters for a double LP. While we knew that the mix of Tom’s playing, Tom’s writing and Jason’s engineering was going to be magical but we had no idea of the exact form or how insanely potent the album was going to be. Damn. Seriously, just listen to this stuff and absorb that these are all single takes, no overdubs. Haunting and celebratory all at once.
Daniel Bachman — The Morning Star (2018)
The Morning Star by Daniel Bachman
It is pretty fun to watch the arc and path that Daniel’s writing, recording and performing have taken over the last 15 years. From powerhouse steamroller to the intersection of musique concrète and acoustic drone, his current location could maybe have been seen in his early recordings but you likely would have lost most of those dice rolls. The Morning Star speaks to me in so many ways but the stunning bookends of “Invocation” and “New Moon” always hit like a ton of bricks. What is amazing is how Daniel can turn these album cuts into live performances. I saw “New Moon” several times while Daniel was in the process of touring this 2016 self-titled album, always transfixed by it live — the album version loses none of that potency. On the other hand, Daniel re-created “Invocation” at the 2018 Three Lobed / WXDU Annual Ritual of Summoning to stunning effect.
The Michael Flower Band — self-titled (2008)
The Michael Flower Band by The Michael Flower Band
An audio / aural bomb blast, a kosmik rearrangement of the space/time directly around the listener. This take no prisoners statement from Mick Flower (guitar) and John Moloney (drums) is a deep slice for catalog enthusiasts. Just tune into “Balinese Falsehood” and try to not get fully lost. Years ago I described this as “biker psych for the third eye rider” and I’ll stand by that statement fully today.
Wooden Wand and the World War IV — self-titled (2013)
Wooden Wand & the World War IV by Wooden Wand & the World War IV
Picking between Wooden Wand titles is hard for this particular enthusiast but if forced I think I have to push the needle towards the intense Crazy Horse vibes of this studio corker. Surrounded by the “Briarwood” band, perhaps the most telepathic folks with whom Toth has ever played, the results are electric and transfixing. Will I kick myself tomorrow for not picking Clipper Ship? TBD...
Meg Baird & Mary Lattimore — Ghost Forests (2018)
Ghost Forests by Meg Baird and Mary Lattimore
I don’t remember when it came to me, the fact that there wasn’t a deliberately ground-up collaboration between Meg and Mary in existence. I had to ask them if that was purposeful or a gap that was truly something that we should remedy, a question where I had my fingers crossed the entire time. They were both really into the concept, it just took the triangulation of busy satellites to make all of our desires into reality. The results are as sturdy, sheltering and invisible at the edges as the album's title, facts that we are all the better for each time we wrap ourselves in this particular fabric. An all-timer.
Jack Rose — The Black Dirt Sessions (2009)
The Black Dirt Sessions by Jack Rose
I had the good luck and fortune to get to know Jack back in the Pelt days and watch his transition from that ensemble into the singular player and performer that he was for the last eight years of his too short life. Watching a Jack set was always a tiny miracle. I remember him calling me one day, telling me that he had gone to record with Jason Meagher and he had a record that he would really love for me to put out if I was interested. Not only was I most most certainly interested, but I was amazingly humbled and flattered that this friend who I also considered a modern master had recorded something specifically for me without even discussing it with me first. That level of trust was the gift and magic of Jack. If he believed in you that belief gave you all of the power you needed to make anything reality, you were suddenly bulletproof. Every track here is a stunner but “Cross the North Fork” always pulls me in, dares me to turn my attention anywhere else. Rest in power, friend.
Chuck Johnson — Crows In The Basilica (2013)
Crows In The Basilica by Chuck Johnson
Every track on this perfectly constructed and sequenced album is flawlessly beautiful but “On A Slow Passing In Ghost Town” is one of the top 10 tracks in the entire TLR catalog in my estimation. Exactingly and properly composed, performed and recorded.
Bardo Pond — Peri (2009)
Peri by Bardo Pond
The love of Bardo Pond was the seed that initially drove me to create a record label. Their single-minded determination to seek audio truth was apparent to me ages ago and so very inspirational. I ate up everything — the releases, the live shows, the live recording — and I hung on every note. The band had a lot of really, really great tunes that they had been working on between 2001 and 2003, the period between their departing Matador for ATP Records. I could never shake the power of several of the tracks from this era that sort of got abandoned to the shifts of time. After several conversations with Michael Gibbons two albums were born from that period and from some other exceptionally potent tracks. Batholith was the first of these two albums and Peri, the second. Both are so very special to me, the fruit of knowing folks needed to hear these compositions. When writing here I have to pick Peri today as it closes with “Silver Pavilion,” an all-time Bardo Pond thesis statement of sorts.
