Revisiting the nirvhannah shepherd chronicles because I can’t hardly contain my excitement and I thank you if you read this to the end

I got acquainted with this woman, Jessy, back in.. September, I think it was? It was right after I took a lengthy hiatus on Tumblr the days after Chris died because I just couldn’t stand being around all the “no one sings like you anymore” BS, and then I came back in late July in search of new people to follow because I was just getting lonely and I remembered that that site is more than just depressing people. But anyway, I explored her blog because her username just caught my eye and I gravitated to her. We quickly built a rapport and I found out she had a VIP package and resultantly, started an email account specifically for people to write letters, notes, etc. to the gents of Metallica and she would print them out and hand give it to them when she met the four of them.

Now I’ve been a Metallica fan for a long time (about as long as I’ve been a Soundgarden fan), but I could never figure out my favorite member. I went to James and then to Cliff and then back to James; and then--this was right after when I came back to Tumblr and I was writing my sci fi book Blue Monday, and I was listening to isolated drum tracks on Youtube because they give me a good rhythm and drive which in turn helps me type. I remember I was listening to the isolated drums to Soundgarden’s song Black Rain when I thought to myself, “you know, I haven’t heard any Metallica drums, and their rhythm section is just downright groovy.” So I typed in “metallica isolated drums” and the first one I saw was the track for Blackened. I soon found out last year marked 30 years of ...And Justice for All, too.

The next thing I know, I’m reading about Lars, I’m listening to his scratchy high pitched voice, and I’m looking at pictures of him and wondering why every other Met fan can’t stand him because he’s just a guy and he’s done a lot of good. If people have a problem with him because Papa and Grandpa Ulrich are big name tennis players back home in Denmark or because he’s an immigrant, then they’ve probably hadn’t had a good upbringing and they’re probably xenophobic (he was at Chris’ funeral, too, so I think that has a lot to do with why I like him so much).

I recall the exact moment I looked at him and thought, “he.. kind of looks like one of my cartoons.” And then like right after that, I looked at him again and thought, “no... he kind of... looks like me” because my cartoons are always made in my image and I think I have a bit of likeness to him (and then I got bangs cut and now I have a Lars Master of Puppets era look).

So returning to Jessy: I had the idea of writing a whole letter to Lars in Danish to “speak to him in his essence” as I put it; the first week of October, I started to read about Danish and how to write it. I figured that since I did it with Italian and Latin, I could do it with Danish. After listening to him speak it, for those of who you haven’t heard it before, it’s very... interesting. It’s like the bastard child of German and Swedish, but it’s funny, though (and by funny, I mean how a speaking voice played in reverse sounds funny). And that was this past October, too: I was beginning Night Owls and working on Inktober, and so I had to rearrange things because writing by itself is very time consuming--it’s a whole other level on an international scale. It came to a point, I had to whittle it down to just teaching myself how to write it instead of speaking it.

So November came along and I devoted myself to NaNoWriMo and preparing a trip up to Reno to spend Thanksgiving with my dad, my brother, my nieces and nephews, and my new in-laws. The week before I went up (I remember this was a Friday), I had writer’s block, and it was that point, I thought to myself, “okay, Jessy’s deadline is the end of January and it’s coming up, and I also have this novel to write and on top of that, I’m leaving in a week, so I need to do SOMETHING.” This was about two-thirty in the afternoon, I was by myself, the fog was starting to come in, and I was staring at the MS Word file I had open, and I thought, “alright. I’m going to do this exactly how I did it with Ben the last two times: I’m just gonna do it in one shot and be completely honest with him.” And I did it in two hours, and then I went to dinner, and then I emailed it to her and that was it.

The last thing I told him was he’s like the full moon to me. When Chris died, my sky went dark. I thought I had a future with him and Soundgarden and that all went away on May 17 (and a lot of fans weren’t helping, either; re: my whole thing with “you did nothing to help me when I felt like doing it myself and now here you are, preaching mental health awareness, why the change of heart all of a sudden?”). I experienced my quarter life crisis that summer and then all I could do after that was write. I didn’t speak to anyone and I didn’t want to be seen, either. And then I found him and his round face, round and full like the moon, and he lit up the black sky for me. And if you haven’t seen my recent posts, he (indirectly, anyways) pointed me to my art’s purpose: to draw what ails you.

Jessy’s blog is gone now par in thanks to Tumblr and its idiotic new policy on adult content (she’s an erotic fanfic writer and Tumblr staff wouldn’t know a well implemented rule if it killed them). It was about a week ago I saw she had gone, and I thought “wow, that was close. Like I threw my hat in before the balloon went up and now I’m on my way.” And now here we are: yesterday was the deadline and she’s on her way to them very soon. So now I thank her, endlessly. Without her, I never would’ve found my way to Lars. He might by my full moon but she’s my rocket.

Being for the most part from the Soundgarden fandom, I’d like to dedicate Searching With Good Eye Closed (”is it to the sky?”) to her, and also Rocket by the Smashing Pumpkins 💜

So this is another short little fic for my fave @jessyulrich ❤️😊 this one is in the first person POV and it's actually wicked short so I hope y'all enjoy it loves **warnings: idk not really any it's just lots of fluff** ------------------------------------------------ I took a look at my ticket in my hand as I pushed through people trying to navigate towards the meet and great. I couldn't believe it, in less than 10 minutes I would be meeting Metallica. I would be talking to my favorite people ever. "hey! how are you," I heard and looked up to see Jason and Kirk standing in front of me smiling. I couldn't believe that this was all actually happening. "Im Great! I love you guys so much how are you?" I asked as I hugged them both wishing to never let go. "You know you're one of the only people I've ever heard ask us back how we are," I looked up to see a grinning James coming towards me. He hugged me in his strong arms nearly crushing my frame I hugged him as tight as I could before they kept moving down the line of people That left just one more person. Lars motherfocking Ulrich. The love of my life. My sweet danish drummer. I was so in love with him I was terrified for when I met him. I had no clue how I would react. I started to fall into a deep trance of thinking about Lars when suddenly I was startled back into reality. "Hi!!" A cheery voice called, standing I front of me was none other than the danish prince himself. "Hi lars! I love you guys so much. Don't tell the others but you're my favorite," I told him surprised at how smooth I could be while freaking out on the inside. "Well Im glad such a gorgeous girl likes me best. Why don't you stay here and I'll come find you when I'm done with this meet and great?" He asked with his adorable little smile. "I would love to get to know you more," he added. My mind was going insane as I stood there waiting for him to come back. Finally after what seemed like forever the guys came back into view. Lars came up to me and grabbed my handing dragging me behind the other boys to his dressing room. "So love, can I have a name to go with your pretty face," he said sinking into a comfortable looking chair. "J-Jess," I stuttered suddenly way more nervous than before. "Well jess, i think that beautiful name matches perfectly with your beautiful face." He said smiling as I blushed and looked down. He suddenly stood up and walked over until he was right in front of me. "You know Im not just saying it right? You're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen." He spoke softly lifting my head with his hand. Before i could even react his soft lips were pressed against mine in a sweet kiss. It was as if I was transported to the land of cliché movie kisses. Time slowed down and it felt like fireworks were going off all around us. We pulled apart and rested our foreheads together. "Lars Ulrich I love you." I stated not sure where I was going with it. "I'm glad you feel that way Jessy, when this tour ends I'm coming right back here and I'm making you my gorgeous princess love," he said making me blush even more. He kissed me once more before we just cuddled on the couch and talked until we fell asleep. Nothing would ever beat the night I met the love of my life.

1. First song you’ve ever heard by 6?

I think it was either ‘The Trooper’ or ‘Fear of the Dark’. Both of these songs got me into Maiden and I started listening to more of their stuff. I actually got the chance to see them live in Bucharest in the summer of 2016 during their ‘The Book of Souls Tour’. It was my third concert and I was completely blown away by the fact that after all these years this band still sounds amazing live.

2. Favourite song by 8?

Damn, that’s a tough question… I used to listen a lot to Guns during late 2016 (still do but not as much) and I think my favorite song by them was (and still is) ‘Rocket Queen’... tbh Appetite for Destruction is definitely one of my favorite albums of all time.

3. What kind of an impact has 1 left on your life?

I could probably write many pages about the impact that Metallica has had on me but I’ll try to say it all in short. Picture this: a 15 years old shy girl, “afraid” of the world, afraid of speaking, unsure about who she is or who she wants to be or where she belongs loved a band called Pendulum… This band has a cover of the song Master of Puppets that she loved (and still does) and one day she got curious about the original song, so she looked it up and found Metallica’s original version. It blew her mind… it was unlike anything she’d heard before… fast, aggressive, but still meaningful? What is this? When she heard the harmony solo she was so amazed… had no idea guitars could sound like that… so beautiful and melodic… and then it goes back to the chunky, heavy and oh so fast riffs. This was her first real encounter with metal… and it was amazing… she started listening to more of Metallica’s music and fell in love with it immediately as well as other bands’ music. That one song ignited her passion for music and made her want to play in instrument… so she started playing guitar. She loves playing rhythm guitar and her role model is James Hetfield both as a musician and as a person, his story being very similar with hers. She finds all of his lyrics really relatable and they help her get through the struggles and hardships of life.

5. How many times have you seen 4 live?

Four times (three times in my hometown, Craiova, and one time in Bucharest) and I would still love to see them more times. The first time I saw them live was when they came to this club in my hometown we like to call the Metal Bunker (it was actually my first time there too haha) and I heard this band was really good and two classmates (one of them was my crush) were going to the show, so I decided to tag along. It was fucking amazing, like seriously even if you don’t know Romanian I feel like you can enjoy a band like Bucovina, I highly recommend them (if you want to look them up I recommend the songs: “Straja”; “Spune tu, vânt”; “Mestecăniș”; “Cărări în suflet”; “Așteaptă-mă dincolo de moarte” and honestly all of their discography). The second time was in Bucharest at Metalhead Meeting Festival in the summer of 2017; the third and fourth times were in Craiova at different clubs.

It’s a long way to the top (if you wanna Rock ‘n’ Roll)

7. Any songs by 3 that make you cry?

“Solitude” would be one, but there aren’t many Sabbath songs that make me cry.

8. Favorite song by 9?

I really like “The Threat Is Real”, but I might be a bit biased since I saw them live during their Dystopia tour (was my first concert too haha). Another one would be “A tout le monde”... it’s hard to pick just one tbh

9. When did you first get into 2?

Around the summer of 2016, but got really into them late 2016. A classmate (my crush) was really into them and I got a bit curious, so I listened to some of their songs. I think the first one I listened to was “Motörhead” (by Motörhead from the album Motörhead, haha) and I thought it was REALLY weird, but then I started listening to more stuff and I started loving the band more and more. By december (I think) I REALLY  loved the band and I’d listened to all 23 of their studio albums multiple times (I could name them all and the year they were released in, might still be able to do that but not 100% correct haha)

10. How did you get into 10?

Well, they had a concert in Craiova at the Metal Bunker about a month ago. They were amazing and I started listening to their music a lot more after the show. If you like folk metal I highly recommend E-an-na, they’re a great Romanian folk metal band,“Jiana” and “Tinca Popii” are my favorite songs by them. At the show we did a wall of death during the song “Tinca Popii” and it was great.
