Posting about Taji reminded me of the reviewers (a certain subset of them) making figurative weird faces in their reviews for Taji and talking around what bugged them about it, and it took me forever to figure out it was the gender and alien physiology stuff... which is really so mild. (There are more revolutionary authors out there.) And then the same thing happened a bit with A Suitable Bodyguard and I was like... OH! I finally get it. It's the vaginas.

Which then reminded me of when I was editing Clematis with Dreamspinner, and the editor was INCREDIBLY uncomfortable with Clematis and Stephanie's post-sex scene (a character can be bi/pan in name only over there I guess) and I mentioned Stephanie's panties and the editor DID NOT LIKE THIS and I didn't get it at the time because I am dumb so the scene stayed but I removed the line about her panties.

And now I get it. It's the vaginas. The vulvas. The puss-ays, if you will. The cunny. The kitty kats. A certain subset of readers do not like them in their queer romance. And if you are maybe thinking that it was cis gay male readers objecting, you would be wrong. (Or at least, they didn't complain out loud.) I'm not going to say who I think was in that certain subset because that certain subset tends to descend like less cool harpies on anyone who acknowledges them without absolute and full praise. But they are a large reason why I try to label stuff queer romance and not m/m romance.

I shouldn't be surprised but I am because I am dumb. The uh... creeptastic villain in Taji was not the problem. Clematis' mental illness and history of trauma, also not the problem. It's the cunts.

Nezuko WIP: a process

started out like this. Don’t mind the lines and such. Tried to erase as much of it as possible.

then gave her a body and a hand (jfc I labored…still labor…over anatomy, mainly hands. Hands will forever be the bane of my art existence.) Also gave her boobies because she is in her demon form, after all. Not sexualizing her, it just be facts. Anyway…

minor shading here and there (I’m so used to shading from the get-go. It’s bad.)

Started the lineart. Don’t have a manga pen or whatever legit artists use so it’s the Pilot G-tec in 0.4mm & 0.3mm for me. I fcked up in some spots already 😅

Keeping the finer details/shading as a placeholder for now. I have to figure out color combos with colored pencils because unlike digital art, I unfortunately can’t undo/erase/add layers 😢 so if I mess up, it’s staying.

Made a mini swatch on the other side of the page & tested them on her arm bc who cares abut the arm lol….and because see note above. I have 370 colored pencils in my arsenal (Crayola, Faber-Castell & Prismacolor) so it took a while to sort through colors. They definitely don’t present the same way on paper!

Looks like the “sweet spot” for the skin base is a mix of peach and beige (Prisma). I hope I’m right 🤞

I started shading because I have issues.

I used like…6 different pencils to get the base shading on her body. I am a fiend for blending so cotton buds are my besties rn. I’m gonna go over it again and shade things darker once I’ve laid down the base colors on everything. I’m a visual person and need to see everything laid out first. Idk I’m weird, ok?

also…maybe it’s just me, but she looks an awful lot like Daki here…🥴👀

…and this is where I’m leaving off because I need to go to sleep. I’m working three night shifts in a row starting tonight so I’ll pick this up when I’m less dead, I guess.

Leviathan x Gn Reader

A victim to beauty.

Snow hid many things, the silence of your foot steps, It soaked into your lungs like a victim to a deep frozen over lake. Parts of it stuck with you, the wind biting against your cheeks or the harsh slap to your hands when gloves don't sit right. Leviathan was used to all of it, The shot, the splatter, and then the silence that came with the fall of snowflakes. Something about it all was melancholy, a routine of sorts, something he had gotten so accustomed to that it was as natural as waking up. 

Was it some excuse for a schedule? For some sort of normality on this hellscape? He pondered to himself as he recounted his ammunition, once then twice, after the third time he realized he was fidgeting with the gun's trigger. It was a job he was the perfect fit for, but was it ever truly easy, surely someone like Lucifer or Belphegor could handle it, without any guilt too. He could hide it, swallow down the bile when the paper was handed to him, but all he could think of was the weight that came with the responsibility of taking the target's soul. 

To others he was seen as merciless, to himself, a coward. He never said no, never turned down the request, especially not one from the prince himself, Lucifer wouldn't allow it. Their gazes were colder than the snow melting into his knees, leaving a layer of frost smeared over the fabric of his pants. Everytime he questioned himself, If he’d finish the job or walk off from it.

He never did walk away though.

A quarter to 10, though the sun never did shine here. It was time for most stores to close down, the citizens walked around the plazas, chatting and gossiping. His eye glanced through the sight scoping out over the cities view, he was five buildings away, one that had been closed down for a few years, truth be told he didn’t have to be secretive, he was someone who could easily escort anyone in the public's gaze and simply walk away without question. 

But he didn't want to be known for this.

His sight peered down, gazing over the crowd mindlessly, hoping to capture the victim he needed as soon as he could; his breath hitched.

Were you looking right at him?

Your eyes wandered straight towards him, kilometers away yet you both held a shared gaze that made him drop the rifle in his hand, shuttering as he backed up. His heart raced horribly; face flushed in blooms that could put spring to shame.  His body curled into itself as hands grabbed his face, purple locks of hair dripping over his face as the sweat on his forehead began to bead. 

You were gorgeous, painfully deer like, your eyes shone perfectly in the lanterns light, the late night crowd swallowing your beauty with it, he fiddled with the rifle, bringing it up to his face, slowly but steadily the gun was aligned, he took a deep breath and peered through the sight. 

You were gone already, just as fast as he saw you, he missed his shot. How would diavolo react, what would lucifer do, he found himself fidgeting with his nails, peeling off cuticles until they bled as he paced furiously in the building. 

How could you have done that, his flustered state slowly sunk down into his stomach and was melting over into embarrassment, realizing he was thinking over your features again.

"Tsk, Next time for sure."

This morning I woke up really early and decided to wake my brothers up with some classic Christmas music. This was one of my songs:

For some reason Scotty didn’t like it 🤷‍♂️. He ordered Parker jr to take me out until I was “suitably exhausted” so she and Parker nessie took me into town for the winter fest to explore. Scott was so desperate for some peace and quiet that he gave Parker jr money to keep me entertained!

Unfortunately he didn’t give me enough for this really cool bag

But I found a puzzle, and a doughnut stand, then I went and played on the hook a duck to rescue a plushie. I won a shark, his name is Jaws. Then it started to rain so we went to costa for some lunch before I went to explore the market. Parker jr said I still had some money left so I chose a ride to go on. I went on the big wheel! It was so so fun!!!!

Today was Scott’s big trip he has been organising for weeks for Parker Nessie’s birthday. Then John found out he was going to a museum and begged to go with him. Scott and he compromised as Scott was determined to have a day out on his own but wouldn’t tell Parker jr what he and John agreed too.

Then I found out they were going to a museum with boats and decided I needed to go so I asked Scott and he said “jfc (he really did say the F word) fine you can all come!

So we did!

Casey joined us for our picnic (which was supposed to be outdoors but it’s raining 🥺) so we moved the party indoors

Hey bestie 🥰 thanks so much for the ask this one took me awhile lol

G - Do you write your story from start to finish? or out of order?

i like writing things from start to finish. key word: like. my brain, however, likes to jump ahead to specific scenes and events. i used to fight that bit and force myself to forge on along and wait until i finally made it to that part in the story.

lmao that was a horrible idea. those scenes would continue to haunt me and pester me until i finally give up and wrote them. so i just stop fighting it and write out of order. (honestly it was a blessing for me to decide to make my lmk one-shot series not in chronological order bc then i’d never get it done lol

it’s why my writing can get slow sometimes because while writing the chapter for the next event, i’ll be hit with some scene 2 chapters later or 3 scenes after some confrontation i haven’t started yet!!! i have ch7 for the dr geyer fic. it’s in my docs but i haven’t finished it bc someone *looks at brain* wants to write more of s6b bc Theo’s in that one >:(

P - Are you what George RR Martine would call an “architect” or a “gardener”? (How much do you plan in advance vs letting the story unfold as you go?)

you know, i know i read of this before like years ago but i don’t remember it lol. had to look it up to make sure i was understanding this right.

so… i think it depends?

with my merlin multi-chap fic and my medieval fantasy wip i plan those in advance. the merlin fic? i have that 1st arc’s plot down, i know where the story will lead to, i even know which characters i’ll keep alive or keep dead. 

with my one-shots (and my one-shots that chose to say “fuck you”), those are a spur of the moment kind of writing. i had something playing in my head that’s wants to be free, so i write it down and pray that it’s satisfied (it typically is not which is why you see a lot of my one-shots become multi-chapters or one-shot series). these don’t have a solid plan when i begin. i tend to come up with it as the plot comes together. 

tbh this works well with my fics bc i have a base outline: the actual show/book/movie. with my dr geyer fic, i know where s5-6 begin and end. sure, i’m choosing what gets to happen in-between, but i at least have the comfort of that base. the lmk series? it’s literally just me plugging in an oc and forcing a couple characters to air-out their issues. 

R - Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?

oh definitely. tbh my main one would have to be Lemony Snicket. fell in love with the narration of those stories. the snark, the personality, the vocabulary, the inner dialogue. idk it just did something to 9 year old me lol

another big one i’d have to say is Branden Sanderson. not really his writing, but how complex and beautiful his worlds are. i didn’t know that you could create and capture the essence such beautiful worlds in writing but reading his books and seeing them come to life really influenced my desire to write and design fantastical worlds or even just explore snippets of other worlds like BBC Merlin Albion.

F - Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it

babe, i’m so sorry but it took me forever to choose. i debated on whether i should do lmk or teen wolf or abc merlin or even shit i haven’t posted bc i love too many of these T^T

but dw i did find one (it’ll be under the cut bc this got long jfc). i giggled a lot when writing it just because the back and forth with Liam and Mason interjecting was fun. also i picked this one to prove the dr geyer fic hasn’t been forgotten. i’ve just been….preocupied and going feral over immortal monkeys

“I’m not here to start anything,” Mr. Doughlas said to them calmly. “I just want the mountain ash barrier open, mh?”

“Yeah, because this isn’t starting anything,” Liam growled.

Mr. Douglas smiled, sharp teeth in full display. Again, he twisted his claws in the chimera. Theo, again, kept quiet. The only indication he was in any being came from his winces. Liam can’t tell if he should be impressed or horrified that getting stabbed in the spine barely got a reaction out of Theo. 

“This is simply a contingency. I just want the barrier open, then I’ll be out of your hair. I promise. No funny business.”

Theo chuckled (well, more like gurgled) and snorted.

“Says the Nazi.”

Douglas drove his claws further into Theo’s spine, polite smile cracking, in response. The chimera grunted, but Theo just laughed again.

“Sorry, sorry.” Theo’s smirk looked almost deranged with the blood coating his lips. “Nazi was the insult others threw at you, right?”

“He’s a Nazi?!” Mason shrieked. 

Doughlas sighed, all politeness disappearing as he addressed them all.

“Must we obsess over my previous occupation? I don’t see how this is important. I was just a soldier there.”

“Oh yeah, being a part of a genocidal fascist group should totally be overlooked!” Liam exclaimed. “Not like you were involved in and advocated for any of that!”

“Yeah, it adds nothing for us to even slightly trust you,” Mason added.

I FINALLY MANAGED TO POST CHAPTER 23

JFC that took FOREVER.

I didn’t want to yell about it until I had actually finished and posted it but OH MY GOD how I’ve struggled with this goddamn chapter. It’s not even funny.

Some of it was me being injured and unable to type comfortably, but, more so than that, it was just excruciating trying to wrangle the first draft into a semblance of order. The first draft was an disastrous mess of me trying to write two things at once and failing at both.

Adding to that, I’m very spoiled in that my first drafts are most people’s second-to-last drafts and I’m therefore not very used to having to rework big parts of a chapter. Which I had to in this one. Hence the struggle. I usually just have to correct a couple of typos and shit, not redo the entire structure. UGH.

BUT YEAH. It’s posted now.

And it’s adorable.

jfc Rob Lowe is so good in comedic roles fr, I think that's why I enjoy Owen now, because he gets funny stuff 😂 that scene was so funny 😂

the boy calling about the math problem was so adorable, and Grace's reaction was even more adorable, she's so fucking cute I can't 😩😍😍 that smile with a nose scrunch??? 😍😍😍😍

we should see more of the 911 dispatchers, like we do in the og - like, I'd love to at least learn like 3 names of something 🙄😂

ngl, I have no memory of this paramedic they're talking about 😂 (also, the music in this scene is kinda loud isn't it? like the drums or whatever? idk, it makes my head hurt lol)

oh my god the lady from the mobile home?? over the word "crazy" when Marjan saved her life?? seriously?

I am loving getting more of the dispatch - if this is how this season continues, I might change my opinion about it (which is that this season is kinda whatever so far, but maybe just the first four episodes were bc this is good)

I kinda like Marjan and Owen's dynamic, this is fun (pls give me more Owen and TK tho, I miss them, and I'm always a sucker for a father son relationship 😂)

Paul and Marjan are one of my fave friendships, they're really ride or die's, I just love them (also, I just love the way Paul speaks if that makes sense? I'm weird about voices and cadence and pronunciation idk 😂)

sooo, Asha's sticking around, right? 😂 they wouldn't have her know Paul from way back when if they weren't starting something here right? 😂 I'm not complaining, pls give Paul a storyline, and if it's finally a good love interest, even better haha

I'm sorry, but making such a big deal over the word "crazy" is literally so ridiculous I can't help but laugh

okay, promo: I am so excited for this bomber storyline, it seems more interesting than the first 4 episodes of the season (like, I loved the Carlos episode - 4x04 but like... eh)

so, I loved this episode, please tell me this is when the season picks up finally, I was finally engaged from the beginning until the end, and enjoyed all of it

I did miss Carlos, and he's my fave character, but also, like I mentioned a lot already, the tarlos storyline so far with Iris etc was so fucking boring and it took a lot of time in those first episodes (and it's crazy I'm even saying that because I always say to give Carlos all the screen time 😂) so it was nice to kinda have a break from them haha and I'm so glad we're over the whole FBI thing

now, I adore Grace and I loved her storyline this eps, it was great and interesting

I feel like Asha's gonna stick around and I'm excited if they're gonna do anything with her and Paul (or just fucking give Paul some more screen time ffs)

I loved that we got more of other dispatchers aside from Grace and please keep it up, I wanna know them like we know Josh and Sue and Linda, for them to be around you know? 😂

and Marjan.... I don't believe she left for good, and I don't wanna believe that, and I get her reasoning, because fuck those people, but also.... this was just so ridiculous, do people really get that offended over the word crazy? I know it's offensive or whatever but since when it's a slur? 😂

I’ve got like three months of posts queued up right now, because I’ve been binge-playing my 100 baby challenge save.

So like three months (honestly maybe more) worth of screenshots where I’ve been FIGHTING!!! with reshade DOF settings trying to make things look correct. And no matter what I did, no matter what tutorial I followed, or whose settings I used, the edges of my sims were ALWAYS blurry!

Anyways, I stumbled upon @pictureamoebae today and spent like two hours scrolling through their blog and trying all these little tips and tricks to no avail. And then I see something about global processing definitions? and how you gotta make sure that 1 is a 0?

TURNS OUT I HAD NO GLOBAL PROCESSING DEFINITIONS. SO. YOU KNOW. THAT WASN’T HELPING.

I added in the correct four lines, and everything is just fucking perfect now, easy as pie, working as intended. Months!!!!!! have gone by with me fighting these DOF settings and it was really this easy.

Also, apparently this isn’t supposed to be happening? but my reshade took FOREVER to load EVERY single time I switched it on to take a screenshot, which obviously is a huge pain in the ass.

This totally fixed that. Zero loading time now. jfc.

Anyways, the moral of this story is that you’re going to have to wait like four months to see these correct screenshots but ALSO, go scroll through @pictureamoebae‘s reshade tag if you’re having any trouble with it because they have SO MUCH good info on their blog. Just an incredible resource.

Had my follow up for Thursday’s ultrasound/NST today. Everything is fine with the baby but I am extremely upset over how this appointment went and how I was treated. 

Fans of the show may have seen my post about my late Friday night/early Saturday morning ER visit for an ear infection. I am currently fighting that off. As a result my blood pressure is currently slightly elevated. I do mean slightly. It’s borderline high. 

They decided to run some bloodwork and check my pee to be safe based off my history. That’s fine. I don’t mind that.

What I DID mind was waiting around forever and not being allowed to leave until I got the results. And when the results were ready the doctor was busy so I had to deal with the world’s most condescending midwife. She took so long to get to the point lots of “so you had this all happen last time and we want to monitor you” yeah no shit, I know that. “what you went through was rare and dangerous” YEAH NO SHIT! I’M THE ONE WHO LIVED THROUGH IT! I understand my own medical history perfectly fucking well, thanks. There’s no need to talk to me like I’m a child. Jfc. Eventually she tells me my tests are normal but keeps going on and on about my previous pregnancy and it’s like... I’m just so sick of this. I’m sick of them only ever focusing on something that happened four years ago instead of focusing on the pregnancy that I am actually having right now.

I’m considering putting in a request to never have to talk to a midwife again. I never had before and I didn’t care for it one bit. Just tell my my results and let me leave the fucking hospital, jfc.
