MDZS Characters at a protest
Wei Ying: He starts the protest but forgets to make a sign.
Lan Zhan: He stands next to Wei Ying and fetched a sign that reads: I’m with Wei Ying. No one knows if he’s protesting or just stating publicly that he’s in a relationship with Wei Ying.
Lan Qiren: Saw Lan Zhan at the protest and was like. Nooo my good nephew!!! (He thinks Lan Zhan is being corrupted to protest by Wei Ying.) Lan Qiren starts a protest against protesting.
Jiang Cheng: Was on his way past and saw Wei Ying protesting and had to disagree with Wei Ying. He joins Lan Qiren protesting about protests, but he’s mad about it, because it’s not what he wanted to do with his day.
Lan Jingyi: He glues himself to the road. No one is sure if he even knows what the protest is about, or wether he just saw it and decided to do it do it because someone always glues themselves to something. (Wei Ying was going to do it, but Lan Zhan said no.)
Jin Ling: He fought with Lan Jingyi to glue himself to the road. He thinks it’s a dumb idea. He just wanted to be the first person to do something. Jiang Cheng saw what he was going to do and yelled “I’ll break your legs get over here!” He’s now stood with protesters against protesting, but he thinks it’s stupid and hopes no one sees him with them.
Lan Xichen: hands out soup and blankets to the protesters, because protesters have rights. He wants to make sure they’re well cared for and their rights are respected.
Jiang Yanli: makes the soup Lan Xichen is giving out.
Lan Shizhui: He tried to stop Lan Jingyi but didn’t get there in time. He fetches Wen Ning and Wen Qing to get him off the road. He also helps Lan Xichen and Jiang Yanil to look after the protesters.
Jin Guangyao: He called the cops of course and tries to smooth it over with Lan Xichen. “I didn’t want anyone to get arrested, I called them in for safety, how was I supposed to know the police would arrest people?”

Wangxian au were lan zhan breaks something so he stay in the burial mounds: what if he's still there when Jiang Cheng smuggles Yanil to vist. What if instead they came to the burial mounds to see wei wuxian and surprise they see lan zhan there. Or what if lan zhan is out with wei ying when he's sees them hobbling with a crutch so wei wuxian doesn't have to carry him while shopping.
So it happens when LWJ is already doing better (he might be pretending he’s doing worse than he is, but if he does, he thinks he can be forgiven). WWX announces that they lack [necessary thing] and that he needs to go down to Yiling to buy the thing. He’s going to take A-Yuan with him. And of course LWJ is like “I’m coming with you.”
First WWX rejects the idea because LWJ is still injured, but LWJ can be remarkably stubborn if he wants to be, so LWJ joins the little expedition. A-Yuan is THRILLED, because if Rich-gege is coming, there’s a chance he’s going to get a toy. “I see how it is,” WWX mumbles, pouting. “Bought with money.” Secretly, he’s really happy though.
They head down to Yiling and it’s not really an issue, because A-Yuan’s pace is hardly faster than Lan Zhan can go injured. So they walk around the market, get the things WWX needs and even get a toy for A-Yuan, but WWX seems strangely dirstracted, looking around all the time. After asking for the third time, WWX finally confesses that his brother and sister are supposed to be here today.
Of course LWJ is immediately like ‘let’s seek them out’, so they go. JC and JYL are absolutely floored when WWX doesn’t come alone, but with a child and LWJ in tow. Like... how? And hasn’t LWJ been missing for a while now?? And WWX is like.. ahahaha yeah funny story, he broke his foot when he was here, and he’s staying until he’s fully recuperated, no evil kidnapping of anything involved guys. Anyway this is A-Yuan, my child. (A-Yuan is already JYL’s favourite nephew and JC is pouting because how the fuck did WWX manage to acquire a child in the BURIAL MOUNDS???)
They spend some time together and WWX is the happiest he’s ever been, because basically all his favourite people are in one place. Meanwhile, JC and JLY kind of keep wondering what LWJ is doing here, until A-Yuan gets tired from the excitement. He first turns towards WWX, but WWX is talking to his sister, so he turns towards LWJ and unceremoniously crawls into his lap. And LWJ lets him. Even steadies him, and affectionaly brushes his cheeks.
JC and JYL are like (ö.ö) (ö.ö) And suddenly this little group looks like something completely different. And JYL sends WWX a shrewd look and is like “A-Xian, have you ever thought about marriage?” WWX blushes from head to toe and is like “What? Me?? Who could I possibly marry?” But JYL just Knows.
LWJ is in the background debating whether he should ask the two siblings for their permission. It would make sense, no? All very reasonable and economic. They have a child to think of, too.

do you think jin zixuan and jiang yanil bonded over being the peacekeeps in their families?
I don’t think JZX was a peacekeeper, really. He was nice to people as a general rule, but that’s not the same thing. You can be a good person and not be a peacekeeper, and I think that’s where JZX falls. He tries, but he tends to be a little too... confrontational? For lack of a better word. Also he’s not great at figuring out how to fix things; see the ambush scene where he’s like “WWX, why don’t you just surrender and come back to Koi Tower, that won’t go badly for you at all!” I love him and he does his best but this man is not the family peacemaker. If anyone’s the Jin family peacemaker it’s JGY, which is fucking hilarious given how many Jins JGY has killed.

Sad thought: Yanil left a will that she assumed would be read by both her brothers. Funny thought: wei wuxian also left a will explaining everything but assumed he would actually stay dead. So he wouldn't have to face Jiang cheng.
I think Wei Wuxian would have been deeply opposed to Jiang Cheng finding out, even after he was gone, but that doesn’t mean he can’t play himself. If he and Wen Qing left behind some notes or a monograph that gave it away and Jiang Cheng got his hands on it I think immediately upon being reunited with Wei Wuxian he pulls the relevant research paper from the pocket right inside his robes where he carries it at all times, throws it in his face, and is just like “Well, Asshole? Something you were planning on telling me??” in peak dramatique JC fashion. It is, in fact, hilarious.
Yanli writes a letter for both of her brothers, just in case. She tells them she wants to make sure they knows she loves them always, no matter what happened. Look after each other and A-Ling. This is her recipe for pork rib and lotus soup. Make time to eat together, OK?

Yunmeng siblings prompt idea(jc and yanli going to save wei wuxian) yanil has had it with her brothers and says this while going into big sister mode: Thaaaaat's IT! I've had it with you and your emotional constipation! Our brother needs us, and we're gonna help him! You got that?
GOD okay honestly this is so much to think about because really where would the best place to put this be..... honestly i was a little disappointed that yanli wasn’t playing the political game as she got married like thats the whole POINT of marrying into other sects . i know she did it for love but the POLITICAL leverage she would be privy to!!!!! in another world, she and jc would have actively been helping wwx and also just in general, jc is a sect leader and like it would be a huge issue that jin guangshan is setting himself up to be the next head of the cultivational world so call it sunshot campaign 2.0 or, idk, the weeding excursion so we can pluck those peonies but here we are:
--
“A-jie. Where are we going?” The petulance in her brother’s voice made it quite clear that he knew where they were going but sometimes Jiang Cheng liked to ask questions he knew the answer to, to provide the entire room with the absurdity of having to ask.
Jiang Yanli smiled at him. Jiang Cheng usually preferred riding on a horse to in the cart with her, but he was in the cart with her today and sulking. It was unusual, but then, it was also not every day that Jiang Yanli woke him in the middle of the night and begged him to come with her.
“To see our brother,” Jiang Yanli said, as much strength in her voice as she could spare. She couldn’t have Jiang Cheng arguing with her and she thought — yes, there it was. The flash of anger-pain-love-why me, why did he leave me burned bright in his eyes.
“Why.”
There were a lot of answers to that question. Why? Because she missed him. Why? Because he’s along. Why? Because she kept making too much food, food that would be enough for three people. She’d offered some of her soup to Jin Zixuan once — Jiang Cheng had very impressively stopped himself from rolling his eyes, and Jin Zixuan had lit up. It had done nothing to fill the small, growing hole in her chest that her brother was supposed to fill. Why? Because she dreamed every night about him dying apart for them.
“I miss him.” She captured her brother’s hands in hers. Zidian was cool against her palm. He knew it too, the same familiar ache, the wistful memories growing a tangled garden around his heart. “A-cheng, it’s not right, the three of us apart.”
Jiang Cheng’s gaze found hers. “There’s more than that, isn’t there.”
Yes. Of course there is. “A-Xuan proposed,” she said carefully, and Jiang Cheng’s hands jerked under hers.
“What did you say,” he demanded.
“I said maybe, I think.”
What she had actually said was “I can’t.” She wanted to take the lotus Jin Zixuan offered her more than anything. She wanted to continue to make herself a home. Zixuan had faltered and fumbled but he was trying, and the earnestness with which he offered it… she could control herself, she wouldn’t cry, but oh, how she wanted to. He looked much the same, which made her realize… “Yet! I can’t, yet.”
“Yet?”
“Yet,” she repeated. “Your robes are muddy.”
“What do you mean yet?”
She swallowed, wrapping her fingers around the lotus. “I want to accept this, a-Xuan. But my didi is at odds with your sect. To accept this, I would have to turn my back on him.”
The expression that lit on his face was quiet understanding. Slight wistfulness, though perhaps her was the same. A-Yao, she thought, had softened him.
Jiang Cheng’s face, now in the cart, was outraged. “You said maybe?”
Everything was dust outside, brown dust that cloyed and choked. But Jiang Yanli still knew the road to Yiling. Even blind, her heart would lead her there, to her brother. “A-Xian needs us, first. He needs you.” He won’t listen to just me, it has to be us.
“He doesn’t need me.”
Jiang Yanli poked at his nose. This sort of thing had always worked better on Wei Wuxian, who loved playing the three year old, but here in the privacy of the cart, Jiang Cheng turned red and batted at her hand half-heartedly. “He needs you,” she said seriously. He needed both of them, up against the world as he was. Sooner or later, it would be all of them up against the world, the only difference it made was if they stood together on the warfront or died alone. “We’re going, a-Cheng. I will not have him die apart from us, thinking it’s the best for our sect.”
Would they even be allowed to care for his body, if he died? Would he want them to, or would he think it better if no one came for him at all.
Why, Jin Zixuan had asked.
If you still wish to ask in a month’s time, knowing what I hope for, I will meet you in the teahouse in Yiling, she replied.

Do u think in the beauty n the beast sangcheng au they’re all really mad at jc like “wow why are u so bitter that u got literally cursed smh now we r all stuck here with u smh” n constantly make fun of him for it or fight about it or do they just vibe while waiting to go back to normal n b like “hm. not very cool to be in this situation but, it is what it is”
Hmm. I think they’re definetly not super happy about it but I don’t think anyone is straight up mad besides Lan Qiren and Jin Zixuan. Lan Qiren is mad cause ya know he’s Lan Qiren and Jin Zixuan is more dumbfounded by the entire situation which causes him to lash out (also he will take any opportunity to get on Jiang Cheng’s nerves because he was harassed by him and Wei Wuxian through his entire courting process with Jiang Yanli and he will have his revenge dang it!). I think Lan Xichen and Meng Yao are more understanding and Yanil and Wei Wuxian will straight up fight anyone who says this is their precious baby brothers fault! Lan Wangji just wishes Jiang Cheng would tell Huaisang he loves him so he can be human and finally kiss Wei Wuxian! (and maybe do more then that if you catch my drift).
I honestly don’t like what the live action movie did with making the stakes so high with the whole if the curse isn’t broken by this time we become inanimate objects thing. I think sticking to the animated movie and the broadway version if Jiang Cheng doesn’t break the curse they all just stay as talking furniture which isn’t so horrible. I think Jiang Yanli and Lan Xichen genuinely believe that if someone were to come along Jiang Cheng would be capable of falling in love with them. Only Lan Qiren and Jin Zixuan think it’s totally hopeless. (Wei Wuxian also has his doubts but he thinks he looks pretty handsome as a candlestick (or perhaps an incense burner if you will) so he’s chill)

I can’t help wondering what Jin Ling’s personality would be like if both his parents had lived.
He was surrendered by other Jin relatives and I think he got some of those traits even without being around his dad.
Would he have had more of Jiang Yanil’s kindness and humility? I feel so sad that we’ll never know the answer but at the same time I do think that Jin Ling has a lot of people around him, helping to guide him and he’ll be a good person in the end.

Don’t ask why but I was thinking about..
Jin Zixuan (the one that marries Jiang Yanli not the other one with the similar name, I’m dyslexic and their names always mess with my head they’re too similarly spelt.)
I was mad at him when I originally read MDZS of the whole average thing he says in the Cloud Recesses about Jiang Yanli, but thinking about it I’m less mad now and here’s why. And just to be clear I don’t agree at all with him calling her average, it’s an awful thing to say about someone.
He’s being forced into a marriage since before his own birth. I could forgive him for feeling resentful about that and stressed at having to marry a woman he hardly knows.
While Wei Ying and Jiang Cheng live with her, know all the qualities that make her special because they see her near daily and live with her.
Jin Zixuan doesn’t have this and has most likely met her a handful of times and who knows for how long.
He’s put on the spot by others his own age who aren’t in his position, about what he thinks of her and calls her average, as resentful as he might be about marrying Jiang Yanil it’s not okay to take it out on her, she’s as much of a forced marriage as he is, if not more because women have less say in these things than men.
Wei Ying rightfully sticks up for his sister, but he has options Jin Zixuan will never have. Wei Ying will never be forced to marry, he’ll always have a choice and I don’t think at the time he really thinks about how lucky he is in that, he’s just hurt on his sisters behalf.
I think Jin Zixuan is feeling a lot of complicated feelings about his arranged marriage at this point, he’s maybe not even sure what he even wants because he’s probably never been asked until others his own age do.
He’s upset about how unfair his situation is, he’s ranting, it’s and maybe there’s a part of him saying it to hurt Wei Ying and Jiang Cheng, because they aren’t feeling what he is and haven’t forced to marry themselves.
It’s petty and immature but he’s just a teenager, trying to manage to navigate the situation and failing. He’s making a terrible mistake, but I think he realises that later.

Also for a modern twin treasures: jin zuxian and jiang cheng getting arrested for getting into a fist fight. Wei wuxian has to come bail his Gege out of jail with Yanil.
Oh, no no no no no. Wei Wuxian is, somehow, despite being part of the richest family in the cultivation world, eternally broke (it’s Jin Guangshan’s fault). It’s Lan Wangji who bails Jin Zixuan out because he’s Wei Wuxian’s unofficial sugar daddy and even though bail isn’t an expense he originally expected to pay for Wei Wuxian he’s still gonna do it.
