About Jii being more capable than expected...I've always feared he was involved in Kaito's parents' scheme if only because the timing of when he appeared matched with the portrait becoming a door and he seemed strangely accepting that Kaito was capable of being an internationally wanted thief to face off against Touichi's killers. I've always believed that he shares information about his Young Master to his Mistress but I want to believe that his and Kaito's solidarity other Touichi's death was genuine and not a manipulation tactic, so when it comes down to it he would be angry at his Master for what he's done (I feel like as his most loyal servant an a much older man, his disappointment and sheer rage would have a big impact on Touichi) to Kaito as they've only become closer after they reunited and started working together. The angst potential of him siding with Kaito's parents over Kaito himself though, poor baby Jii-chan is practically family to him.

I get what you mean. And I don't want to think Jii knows that Toichi is alive as well.

Jii, being a father figure to Toichi, could be an interesting thought.

Y por qué Jii esperó tanto tiempo para hacerse pasar por Kaitou KID si no fuera para llamar la atención de Kaito sobre él, ¿Acaso fue porque Toichi se lo pidió? Hasta donde llega la crueldad de Toichi Kuroba y de Gosho Aoyama para quitarle todo a Kaito, para arrebatarle a su familia a las únicas personas en las que se supone que puede y debe confiar?! Kaitou 1412/Kuroba Touichi x Phantom Lady/Kuroba Chikage headcanons? The couple that does crime together stays together. She is the prized jewel in his jewellery box. I like the idea that she's using her old criminal ties to avenge her husband too, like Kaito is but more internationally.

Thanks for asking, I love you. I had that headcanon about Chikage investigating Toichi's enemies abroad too! I so agree with that. 1. Chikage has the motto "If you don't want to get shot, dodge!" and Toichi is like "Kaito don't listen to your mother, she's just joking!". 2. Every time Toichi went out (work, shopping, etc.) he would come back to find his wife lying on the floor in a pool of blood. The first few times, he was so worried and got really offended when Chikage started laughing because he was starting to cry. Chikage didn't find it funny when Kaito imitated her years later, Toichi made fun of her as revenge. 3. Toichi is much more dramatic than Chikage, when they fought, Chikage was the one offering flowers for Toichi to forgive her, when Toichi was the one asking for her forgiveness, he invited her on dates. 4. Chikage learned some basic magic tricks and some impressive ones from her husband, when Toichi died (YES, HE'S DEAD) she performed some tricks here and there to cheer Kaito up. 5. I like to think that despite how much Toichi had to practice to be a thief, Chikage corrected him and supported him in his criminal career. When necessary, she disguised herself as KID to cover him up. 6. As a thief, Toichi was more elegant and silent, while Chikage was stealthy and brutal. I can see her creating the most disturbing crime scene and at the end leaving a note saying "It's a joke!", the police couldn't stop thinking if it was a good thing that everything was fake or if it was so bad to know that she could really do something that horrible if she wanted to. She was a bad influence on Toichi in that regard! KID started to play some mischievous pranks in his later years. 7. Chikage was Toichi's makeup artist for his shows, and she usually did a great job, but one time, while she was doing her job, little 4-year-old Kaito came over to ask if he could help.

Toichi trusted Chikage to fix any damage, which ended with him on stage with his face painted like a clown.

Toichi learned that a thief like Phantom Lady would never lose her poker face. 8. The life quote Toichi shared with Kaito was "go big or do nothing," Chikage told him to preferably not apply it in a confession.

Kaito: But it worked for you, didn't it? Chikage: Yes, but I would have liked a longer romance! Toichi: Not for me, I saw you and knew I wanted to spend my whole life with you. Chikage: Aww, you're so sweet. Kaito: **Writing in a notebook** Chikage: What are you writing? Kaito: I'm taking references. Toichi: References? Kaito: When I like someone, I'll get a bunch of enemies and jump off the Eiffel Tower with them. That way they can't say no to me! Maybe I can even hire someone to pretend to be enemies! Toichi: Uuhh... Chikage: Remember to have an extra parachute. Kaito: That's a great idea, mom! Toichi: I don't think it's a good idea… Kaito: But it worked for you, in less than 5 minutes they said yes! Toichi: But it's not the same! Chikage: Leave it, I think it was very romantic! Toichi; No! What kinds of perverts does Kaito have to deal with? Is it just while crossdressing? Does it happen in his civilian life or just as Kid? I'm sure he can handle himself mostly but does Jii have means of dealing with them? Or Aoko, Akako and Hakuba? How would Zero and Matsuda protect him?

Just the usual ones women have to deal with when he's in disguise... and others that fell for him when he was performing magic.

KID has his own set of fans that take it too far, I bet, but he usually avoids them.

Jii deals with the ones he's caught harassing his Young Master, but Kaito doesn’t tell him much. Doesn’t want him to worry.

Aoko doesn't notice unless it's obvious... Hakuba discreetly defends Kaito, and Akako uses magic to get them off Kaito's back.

Zero and Matsuda would beat them up, no questions asked.

This has been living in my head rent free since I saw it two days ago and now I'm like Cousin AU, where Toichi still died but whatever happened between the brothers didn't happen (idk if anything actually happened, I can't watch the movie until it's off theaters TvT) so the cousins knew each other and are pretty close. Dunno why Yusaku didn't look into his death (maybe decided it'd be better for it to go unsolved/lied about, which has def happened in canon before and Shinichi did it too in the whole plastic surgery case) But young!Shinichi is like no!! i swear something is up and I will prove it + I will protect my friend/cousin >:( and they work together from the start Introducing the progressive shounen-action-ification of the DetCo series xDD first we get explosions, now we get power creeping!! Don't know if it's been confirmed or denied canonically if Snake is part of the B.O. but if he is that would honestly be hilarious. Part 1: the entirety of Magic Kaito 1412, including the multitude of other thieves. So. Many. Thieves. (not that I'm complaining) Part 2: You've defeated the theives, now you're up against Snake's organization!! Mystery focus potential, but also explosion potential Part 3: You've defeated Snake's organization, but that was merely an introduction into the Black Organization (Shinichi may or may not get shrunk, I haven't decided). Insert ominous foreshadowing and a single clue that spirals Part 4: Some level of B.O. shenanigans, and then a strange woman becomes Ran's English teacher! (Jodie) Part however-long-this-series-will-go-on: the entire world gets involved with the pair at the center of it and somehow the B.O. still hasn't been handled. Vermouth dynamics with Kaito and Shinichi would be SO much fun (would Kaito also get a nickname or would he be brushed off LOL) What's Yusaku doing in all this???? Avoiding his editors, probably. Bonus: The Kudo mansion with a secret room AND an aviary. Just make it Hogwarts at some point. Bonus 2: Agasa and Jii interactions!!! Which I swear has been hinted at in canon that Agasa is the friend and has (unknowingly) helped with KID gadgets. Bonus 3: Agasa actively working with KID on gadgetry would be off. the. rails. Chaos squared.

May I offer you platonic/familial KaiShin?

Just think. They may not know it in canon yet, but Shinichi is technically Kaito's only relative who hasn't fucked off and abandoned him

Detective Conan/DCMK characters in a Classroom of the Elite setting would be so interesting to watch/read.

I've only just finished the CoTE anime (Seasons 1-3) so i haven't read the manga or the light novel but the Advanced Nurturing Highschool or AHNS for short is so, so shady. If it and the White Room existed in the DCMK universe, I have no doubt in my mind that they would have some connection to the Black Organization.

So just imagine an AU where Shinichi caught Vodka doing an arms deal in middle school but didn't get caught by Gin like in canon. Imagine him trying to investigate them but coming up with nothing until he, Ran, and Sonoko are on a train ride for the first day at AHNS where he runs into Gin and Vodka, just like he did in canon episode 5.

He learns their codenames there and saves the people on the train from being bombed to hell. Unfortunately, this ends up making him, Ran and Sonoko late for their very first day. They're thankfully excused because the incident was out of their hands before being placed into their respective classes.

You can have adult characters like Jodie and Amuro be teachers and business owners while also acting as undercover agents.

Important student characters at the school:

Hattori Heiji (he can be in the same class as Shinichi where they are both antagonistic at first but later become allies and friends)

Toyama Kazuha (they were made for each, I will never seperate them)

Kuroba Kaito (who also happens to be Kaitou KID and regularly sneaks off school campus for heists. Jii Konosuke cases places for him and he contacts the man using a secret phone he smuggled in. He tends to downplay his academic and physical skill to be somewhat average so he's in Class C or B)

Nakamori Aoko

Akako Koizumi (no magic in this AU but she's interested in spirituality and shit like tarot cards and all)

Hakuba Saguru (suspects of Kaito of being KId and regularaly requests time off from school to go to the heists)

Eisuke Hondou (but only for a little while near the end of 1st year as a rival for Shinichi and love interest for Ran before going back to America to pursue the future he wanted)

Sera Masumi (would be introduced in 2nd Year when Shinichi starts investigating Bourbon as a potential subject because she somehow found out he has connection to the maker of the pill that shrunk her mother)

Important characters outside of school

Agasa Hiroshi (supplies Shinichi with spy tech)

Haibara Ai AKA Miyano Shiho (shrunken and lives with Agasa just like in canon, specifically sought Agasa out because he was a connection to Shinichi, who was involved in her sister's case and was a detective at that. They contact each other through secret phone. She also happens to be one of the failed subjects of the white room)

Miyano Akemi (During school break, Shinichi went back to Beika where he was then approached by Masami Hiroto and the rest goes like canon with her dying in his arms)

Akai Shuichi (still don't know what I'm gonna do with him but he's important)

Rena Mizunashi AKA Hidemi Hondou

Nakamichi (Shinichi's soccer friend)

Anyways, I imagine Shinichi being in a different class from Ran and Sonoko and just thinking about ShinRan competeing but also saving each other's asses from time to time is beautiful.

Having Kaito and Shinichi's respective Black Organization be one and the same would make it more interesting as well.

Anyways, I think these characters are fun to play around with in this setting, mixing the dramatic school life in CoTE with the looming threat of the Black Organization as Shinichi delves deeper and deeper into the case.

Idk how this would be resolved but it would be so, so fun to read if written well. Shinichi's gonna be so paranoid by the end of this lol.

I don't have access to Movie 27, so this theory might already be debunked.

But I'm more convinced then ever that Kaitou Corbeau is a Chikage + Kudo Family Team-Up.

If the whisperings I'm hearing about the reveal are true, then the three of them have an invested interest in seeing Kaito retire as KID.

I mean, it wouldn't be the first time Yusaku and Yukiko pulled some really sketchy shit. Remember the "Conan Edogawa Kidnapping Case" from the early volumes? They straight up kidnapped their son to prove a point.

That said, I don't think that's their primary reason behind Kaitou Corbeau. I think they're searching for Toichi Kuroba. What better way to lure someone out than to wear their face and use their own techniques?

If Toichi's body was never recovered after the accident or went missing, then of course it would raise suspicions from his loved ones.

It would explain their rather frequent trips overseas, especially considering how shit in going down in Japan right now with their children.

But if Toichi is alive, why hasn't he shown himself? I have a few theories:

Option 1) Like Shinichi, he believes that his loved ones will be safer if both they and the assassins who targetted him believe he's dead.

Obviously, this backfired spectacularly with Kaitou Kid's return. I love Konosuke Jii, but I'm starting to believe he royally screwed up Toichi's plan with his desire for revenge.

While he did not want Jii to tell Kaito of his alter ego, Toichi clearly had plans on telling his son himself. He left a voice recording in the secret room, which probably detailed his motivations and a warning not to follow in his footsteps. Unfortunately, that message deteriorated over the 8 years since his death.

It is possible that around this time, Chikage and the Kudo couple were tipped off on a Toichi sighting, thus forcing their focus elsewhere.

Option 2) He was seriously injured in the accident, and now believes his presence poses a danger to his loved ones. This one would be incredibly tragic, but sometimes a traumatic injury can cause a personality change like increased bouts of anger.

Even if these concerns were unfounded, I don't see Toichi as the kind of person who would take that risk with his family. Combined with concerns over the organization, it paints a bleak picture.

Option 3) Toichi is the series' main villain and a bad father. Just as his final message could've been a warning to Kaito against becoming KID, it could also be an invitation to inherit the role.

The adrenaline rush of a successful heist could have proved addicting, and Toichi could have used his assassation attempt to leave his shackles of responsibility behind. He could have graduated to an even more dangerous phantom thief persona.

Remember how there is 8 Night Baron books? One for each year since Toichi's supposedly death? And Yusaku has never revealed his identity, not even to his own son...

While I think this last scenario is the least likely, it would certainly be the most dramatic. It would force Kaito to rethink his whole career.

Jii presumably has some disguise ability, as a veteran thief/magician assistant and someone who managed to be Kid to an extent before Kaito took over, but he struggles with changing his voice compared to Kaito (most people would, but not the point). This limits his capabilities as an assistant and stand-in Kid. The main cast of Detective Conan have solutions to this problem created by Professor Agasa.

First a voice changing boytie made for Shinichi when he became Conan, it has an impressive range for such a small device but when it comes to a disguise it's actually flawed as you have to speak into it to change your voice, Conan generally hides and pretends it's a sleeping person speaking (everyone ignore the lack of lip synching) but something like that has limited use for Jii as they don't have a third person to be the 'speaker' or the one using the device as Jii's new voice and recordings work for audio alone. What can you inconspicuously speak through especially when everyone's under so much scrutiny at a Kid Heist? Plus I think Agasa wants to keep it under wraps, Kid's such a public figure that if it's found out devices like what he used would be in the spotlight which is bad for Shinichi.

The second is a discontinued voice disguising choker, it's range is unknown (Yukiko has non-gadget disguise skills so it's hard to judge when she wore it compared to Akai) but it's sale was stopped because it was used by people who wanted to abuse the anonymity via threatening phone calls and scams/cons. Plus it's a very uncomfortable choker that can only be hidden with a turtleneck, not sure if Kid's collared shirt would hide it and wearing a turtleneck limits disguise options (it won't fit everyone style). I find it unlikely that heist participants aren't searched by the police too, especially considering the amount of Kid copycats/imposters. The discomfort alone is a downside, heists can go on for hours and he would need to concentrate on dealing with/helping Kaito deal with the Kid Task Force and the various challenges & obstacles 'the critics' throw at Kid, not to mention any surprise enemies that might try to seriously harm/kill Kid. They can't plan for everything.

They could ask Agasa to make one that suits their needs but there is a limit to how much can be justified as Kid Cosplay or for a magician client (Kaito and Jii adjust things and their tools rarely end up in police custody but something as Kid-trademarked as changing your voice to be identical to someone else's opens the possibility that it was in large part thanks to Agasa helping Kid all along, it would also reveal that he invented a tool that made it possible to that extent which could expose Shinichi), he can't afford to be arrested and leave Shiho and Shinichi alone because one of his commissioned inventions was used to do a heist. Considering how flexible Agasa is at giving children and strangers vouched for by the Kudous gadgets he may not mind the moral aspect of helping a criminal (though I doubt he wants to enable more Vermouths), particularly if they are the young master of his good friend and resemble Shinichi, Ran & Shiho - someone who has even aided them before, which he definitely knows about and is grateful for. But I can see him being increasing careful to not give anyone the excuse to do anything legal to him or let things reach the media or police they aren't sure are safe/not corrupt. I doubt Jii or Kaito want that either and they're managing fine as they are...for now.

I guess that's why Kaito is the one doing most of the heists.

But it would be fun to imagine Jii is a lot more experienced and capable than he looks.

He won't let anything bad happen to Kaito and his friend, so it would be nearly impossible for the gadget to be found by the police.

Interesting Crossover - Kaito KID X Harry Potter

I don't know if anyone already come out with this idea yet but I just want to share, lol.

Kaitou Kid's goal was to find immortal gems before bad people, it made me think he would come across philosopher stone somehow and it might lead him to discover the wizarding world. (Just ignore the timeline and year for convenience for the plot) He is smart, a magician prodigy, and of course, would not let muggle disadvantage stop him. No one can stop him before and never will be.

KID is a muggle magician thief and of course, the wizarding world is often clueless when it comes to muggle things and thinks muggle 'magic' is ridiculous. Pulling a rabbit out of a hat and card trick is kind of like that. But KID's magic is another level and they didn't prepare for anything like that. He didn't get called an international thief for nothing. Many magic tricks no need to use electricity. Imagine he just appears out of nowhere inside Hogwort. I would gladly see him messing around with wizards and Dumbledore would get headaches for unexpected factors. The ministry might send Aurors to find this thief and the prophet might spread the news of this magician muggle. Some might have a theory KID might not be a muggle after all.

Just like he usually does, a student by day and a phantom thief by night separated alter ego. Pulling many ideas to mimic magic to go through magic classes. Maybe his gramp assistant Konosuke Jii help him with 'behind the scene'. I imagine him getting into Hagwort as a squib, being Filch's assistant, and befriending him. (Jii is the ultimate wingman for the Kuroba family!)

Oh, for Voldy, after he dug into KID's profile from Muggle sources, he found the thief has been around for a long time and is probably must old now but he still looks the same. At first, he doesn't pay attention to this muggle thief at all as he thinks KID is just a pathetic thief and a muggle (yeah, his normal arrogant self of Voldy) But after noticing this fact and suspects the thief wants to find the stone as well, he ordered death eaters search for KID and bring what that found to him.

Kaitou KID has to mess around the magical world, confusing wizards and witches, and Voldemort has no idea what he messing about. A muggle magician in the world of magical people, how fun it could be.

He just needs to be his usual gremlin self though haha

P.S. Which house do you think he would be in? I think he would be Slytherin.

Summary:

Kaito finds Pandora but is shot out of the sky by the Organization. Upon awakening, Kaito discovers that Pandora is sentient and has saved him from death by making him Pandora's new vessel. Pandora then makes a simple deal with him. Pandora won't take over Kaito's consciousness or control him as long as Kaito seals away magical objects that have awakened once again due to the coming of the Volley Comet. Now immortal and unable to be permanently injured, Kaito repurposes KID into stealing magical items of all kinds using the power of Pandora. Except now he has three detectives and their friends chasing after him, determined to learn what happened the night KID was shot out of the sky and why he's shifted targets. Not to mention there may be more kinds of evil groups and creatures out there than just the Organization...and it's going to take all of Kaito's strength to adapt to his new world. Or, to put it in shorter terms: Kaito's world shatters and he and Pandora become roommates.
