NEW TRAILER!!!! THOUGHTS????
hi, @jjnora!
so aside from just a lot of internal screaming because HAPPILY MARRIED GSR, HAPPILY MARRIED GSR!!!!!!!!!, here is my rundown:
per some previous musings, it is seeming more and more like brass is the one who originally gets grissom and sara back to vegas, perhaps because brass himself has either been implicated in the fabrication case—he may be the party to whom the "you either made an error or you were a party to criminal malfeasance" line is originally directed—or else has been targeted by the criminal(s) behind it.
whether or not grissom and sara are also potentially implicated in the case, we don't yet know; it's possible that they, like brass or perhaps in conjunction with him, could be the objects of the "criminal malfeasance" charge. however, if so, then it would seem that they are quickly cleared of any suspicion, as they soon start working the case alongside maxine roby and her team.
i have to say: i am somewhat worried at this point that brass may be killed off in service to this storyline. knowing that paul guilfoyle is only set to guest-star in the first two episodes, one has to wonder why brass isn't sticking around for longer. does he simply wrap whatever involvement he has in the case at that point, or is there a more sinister explanation for his abrupt departure from the show? not only do we see brass engaged in hand-to-hand combat with an armed assailant, but then there's also that ominous "jim brass is just the beginning" message we see written on the typewriter. add on this gsr hug, which looks potentially like an "i need comfort because i just got some very bad news" situation, and, suffice it to say, i'm nervous. i would hope tptb wouldn't kill off such a beloved old character, but, then again, they might do so in order to get grissom and sara invested in this work again.
speaking of which: we now know from the tv guide interview that while sara has maintained her csi certification over the last six years, grissom has not, though he does eventually join the investigation in the capacity of a consultant. whether or not both grissom and sara will be eager to jump back into the field of criminalistics after so long spent away will be interesting to see. based on maxine roby's choice of words when she asks them to rejoin the lab ("do you think i could persuade you to come back to csi?"), i think it's at least possible that one or both of them might be reluctant to sign back on, particularly in a full-time capacity. if so, then their hesitancy may be due to any number of reasons. for instance, maybe they're just attached to the work they've been doing and the life they've been living for the last six years since the events of "immortality." alternatively, maybe they feel like they've been "out of the game" for too long and they're too out-of-touch to get back in now. maybe they're afraid because this case is a dangerous one, and particularly if whomever is behind the fabrication is directly targeting them and their loved ones. maybe they have something going on in their lives that makes it so they feel that they cannot or at least should not involve themselves in what's going on. while it's possible that they'll both feel compelled to join this investigation and see the necessity in doing so from the start, it's also very possible that they might have to be convinced. if so, then brass's death could potentially be the thing to convince them.
again, based on the tv guide article, we know that the fabrication case spans the duration of the season, so it'll be interesting to see how the writers handle revisiting old cases (presumably) at the same time that the team must also take on new ones. will there be one or more throwback cases per episode? will grissom and sara be relegated to working only on those investigations (or will they also work on new incoming investigations, as well)? while many of the shots in this trailer look like they could potentially hearken back to old cases—for instance, the shot of the fountain with the body floating in it could be a throwback to the case in episode 05x05 "swap meet”—it's also possible that they're their own bag. as there are supposedly "thousands" of old cases on the line, one would expect there to be a lot of throwback material, but it remains to be seen how said material will be incorporated.
in any case, whether the grissoms—and, heads up, i am going to be calling them that, and, no, i'm not sorry about it—are initially reluctant to join the case or not and regardless of if they're originally focused only on their old cases or they're involved in new ones, it seems like they'll see plenty of action, considering that we get glimpses of sara chasing after someone (potentially a suspect) down the strip and even diving bodily through traffic to catch up to them.
that girl has a whole-ass harvard education and is still gonna get herself hit by a car, smh.
—and they'll also give us plenty of wonderful, amazing, old-married-couple pda.
i mean, [stefon voice] this trailer has EVERYTHING: happy, casual handholding; emotional embraces; smirky little smiles; wife moves; husband moves; joy olakodun; DARLIN'?!; wandering hands because she just needs to touch him; brass hanging out in the grissoms's hotel room; WEDDING RINGS?!; whole conversations had only with expressive eyebrow movements; toasting drinks in a penthouse suite; stupidly synchronized movements; "our lab;" "our life's work;" flirting; two idiot married geniuses. it's AMAZING!
if they showed us so much casual intimacy between grissom and sara in a one-minute trailer spot, methinks we can probably expect these kind of displays on the reg in the episodes—and hopefully also some of the "edgier" stuff jorja teased in the tv guide interview, as well.
i mean, lord knows the whole fandom's gonna die if they just kiss, let alone do anything "more."
aside from the pda stuff, i'm also just really happy to see that grissom and sara look UNITED. there's all sorts of nonverbal communication happening between them, and they just seem really in sync. it's gonna be wild to get to see them operating openly as a married couple in the same space (and especially considering that we've never really gotten that with them before). i, for one, am very much looking forward to it.
obviously, there's still a lot that we don't know and many blanks to be filled in, but i think this trailer has given us a better idea of what kind of show this will be and especially of how grissom and sara are going to be presented as a couple. the story cues and character dynamics we've seen so far are definitely intriguing.
here's looking forward to october!

According to the 3rd sneak peak on the youtube channel, we get more info on Brass! Apparently he is going blind (?) or something of that sort. And there’s a Catherine name drop!! Though I don’t think she’ll be in the show. Thoughts?
hi, @jjnora!
so according to brass, he is experiencing "fuch's corneal disease," also known as fuch's corneal dystrophy, a progressive condition in which fluid builds up in the cornea of the eye, causing it to swell and thicken, leading to discomfort and cloudy vision.
fuch's dystrophy typically does not result in total blindness, and, contrary to what brass insinuates in the sneak peek, can be treated, with medication in its earlier stages and corneal transplant surgery in its later stages. after transplantation, patients normally experience a full reversal of symptoms.
though it's hard to say just by looking, it appears that brass's condition is fairly advanced. however, whether or not he's on the transplant list or if he's even eligible for a transplant at all, we don't yet know.
since this new reboot adventure kicks off with brass being attacked in his own home—on behalf of an old foe called "lucky”—i'd say it's probably a safe bet that his impaired vision will serve as a wrinkle in the case, as he likely won't be able to provide much in the way of “eyewitness testimony” concerning his attacker.
someone else who watched the later seasons of the show more closely than i did may have a better memory than i do on this one, but i honestly don't recall brass ever interacting with a criminal called lucky at any point during the original run of the show, much less having a serious adversarial dynamic with such a person, which may indicate that lucky is either someone from his new jersey days or else someone whom he has encountered since leaving the lvpd (perhaps when he was still working security for catherine back in 2015).
in any case, this peek confirms that he is indeed the one who calls sara in to help on the case and also suggests that he is probably the one who (somehow) gets her working with the lvpd crime lab again as a consultant.
other things we learn about brass from this clip include:
he does seemingly talk regularly with sara (and perhaps grissom?), though he hasn't mentioned his condition to her/them prior to this point.
he has an african grey parrot named elvis, whom he lovingly describes as a “little bastard.”
he doesn't seem to have adequate help/care and relies on his housekeeper to look after him.
he's still just as wry as ever.
he may or may not also be staying in catherine's hotel, a la the grissoms, following his attack.
he is also seemingly in contact with catherine, as he knows what's going on in her life.
as for catherine, the sneak peek tells us just enough to confirm that she is indeed responsible for putting the grissoms (and possibly also brass) up in her casino hotel; however, she is herself not present in vegas, as she is apparently either visiting or living in ireland to be near her grandchild.
how she and lindsey came to leave the lvpd crime lab, when they did so, and under what circumstances, we don't know. why they ended up in ireland, we also don't know. maybe lindsey partnered with or married someone who is from there or else is there for work.
it seems like a good guess that catherine probably retired in order to spend more time with her family (possibly around the time that lindsey got pregnant or had the baby), but there also could be more to the story that we don't yet know.
whether or not marg will appear in the reboot, we can't say for certain.
on the one hand, marg did recently like one of @fandomismymiddlename's tweets about her potentially appearing in the reboot, which could indicate that she has either already filmed a guest spot or at least has some interest in maybe doing so in the future, should the show get renewed for a second season.
on the other hand, she's had one show cancelled and then been picked up for another show on another network all during the time when csi: vegas has so far been filming, so i doubt she's had a lot of opportunity (or even been contractually at liberty) to get in any guest spots.
while it's technically possible that marg could have filmed an appearance on the reboot sometime back in may or june (during the brief window when she was otherwise unemployed), i have to believe that, had she done so, the cbs hype team would be playing up her return in the same way that they are billy, jorja, and paul's, as, after all, hers is a big enough name and catherine is a beloved enough character that giving fans a heads-up that she'd be back would make for good publicity for the new show.
the only reason i can see them keeping a potential return from her on the dl is if that return happened later in the season and was meant to be a surprise.
otherwise, i kinda think we'd have heard about it by now, you know?
in any case, the reboot writers sending catherine all the way to dublin seems like a good indication that they want her “out of sight and out of mind" for the time being, so we can take that for what we will.
as for other thoughts about the sneak peek:
as jorja has talked about in some of her recent interviews, sara seems to initially be under the impression that her trip to vegas will be a short one—72 hours or less. though she does know that brass has been attacked, she seems not to be aware prior to when she arrives that he is losing his vision. she also appears surprised (and even affronted) when he asks her to consult on the case. that so, one has to wonder: when she first responds to his call, what is it that she thinks she's coming back to las vegas to do? does she seriously believe that all she's there for is to move him out of his house and into catherine's hotel? but if she doesn't know about his sight, then why would she think he needs the help? the fact that she makes the drive from san diego to sin city in such quick time suggests a sense of urgency on her part, so is there perhaps more to her coming than we already know about? what could brass possibly say to her that would make her feel like she needs to get to him fast but also has her convinced that once she reaches him, he'll only need her for a couple of days at most?
brass's "at least i got sara sidle back to vegas" comment plus the fact that she had previously been unaware of his fuch's dystrophy suggests that sara has not been to vegas in a long time—perhaps not since the events of "immortality." if not, then the fact that she has not would imply that she must have finished up all of her business in vegas (leaving her job as lab director, selling her house and car, tying up all the loose ends on her old cases, etc.) remotely.
when brass asks sara what she's been up to recently, she doesn't give an answer. we know she has grissom collecting jellyfish in panama, but we still don't have a full idea of what their life over the last six years has consisted of. for example, why is she coming to vegas from san diego? has that city maybe become a "home base" for her and grissom, or is that just where they happened to be when sara received brass's call? were they maybe there seeing nick? beyond the issue of location, we also don't know how much contact they've kept up with their work family. sara insinuates that she and brass talk regularly and that she has at least recently been in touch with catherine (enough to have been put up at the hotel), but how often have she and grissom seen their old friends in person since 2015? have they done so at all? did they invite any of them to their (second) wedding? with brass, it seems unlikely that sara has physically been in the same place as him for at least a couple of years, given that his condition comes as a surprise to her. but what about with everyone else?
another general question about the csiverse: is this fictional universe one that is going to acknowledge the covid-19 pandemic, or is this story going to be set in an alternate universe where the pandemic never happened? so far, no one on the show seems to be wearing masks, so my guess is that the latter option is the case. we'll see, though.
sara seems very surprised/affronted when brass asks her to look into his case. though we know from interviews that she has kept up her accreditation enough to at least still be certified as a criminalist, to me, her reaction indicates far-removal from her old csi life—i.e., that she has not been involved with anything having to do with the profession recently.
anyway, those are my takes, for what they're worth.
thanks for the question! please feel welcome to send another any time.

CATH IS COMING BACK!!! How do you feel about csi vegas just bringing back a character or two every season?
hi, @jjnora!
i'm happy for marg and wish her and the csi: vegas team (as well as any future guest stars from the original series) all the best.
that said, i’m not personally planning to watch s2, as the show isn’t really to my tastes.
thanks for the question! please feel welcome to send another any time.

Okay so I just read this quote from AZ -
“Anytime we can get any of our veterans back, it’s such a great plus for all of our fans,” CSI creator and CSI: Vegas executive producer Anthony Zuiker said during a TCA panel for the new series. “We have a couple more surprises in store. I could probably say that. But the fantastic blend of the original cast members with a brand new, diverse team in 2021 and beyond is such a great treat for the CSI fans and the franchise.” From a Deadline article… Are there MORE returnees coming back?? I hope so.
hi, @jjnora!
we don’t know for sure yet, but it definitely sounds like there could be.
obviously, at this point, no one has been confirmed, but if other former cast members from the original series do end up making appearances, there are certainly a lot of options.
not only could marg, george, or eric potentially show up, but i think folks like marc vann, robert david hall, david berman, and jon wellner are on the table, too, as are former guest stars who may have played victims or criminals.
since we now know for sure that s1 of csi: vegas will be ten episodes in total, there will certainly be ample opportunity for "surprises."
here's fingers crossed zuiker actually means what it sounds like he could mean!
thanks for the question! please feel welcome to send another any time.

Hi, I was wondering what your thoughts were on episode 10x04 of CSI? I’ve always thought that episode was a a bit of a cop-out (both thematically and morally) by the writers when they tried to portray racism in the police force, etc… especially as part of a larger neglect given to Warrick and Ray’s characters.
hi, @jjnora!
episode 10x04 "coup de grâce" is obnoxiously noncommittal—to put things mildly—when it comes to its discussion of racism in the police force.
if you’ll forgive me, i’m going to draw a metaphor from my life outside of the internet, where i’m a college english professor, in order to discuss what i see as the main flaw in the csi production team’s approach here.
a good argumentative essay has three main components:
there needs to be a thesis, or a premise that is put forward to be proved;
there needs to be evidence provided in support of the thesis, establishing its major points;
there needs to be a conclusion drawn which shows the significance and/or implications of the proven thesis.
if an essay lacks any one of these three main components, its argument will ultimately fail (or at least not be very persuasive).
while not necessarily an essay, episode 10x04 "coup de grâce" is in some ways structured like one. its topic is racism in the police force. the nature of its argument is not only whether or not such racism actually exists but if so to what extent and what should be done about it.
here’s the thing, though: this essay is not a good one, because while it has a thesis and even evidence in favor of its thesis, its conclusion is shit, not only in the sense that it is annoyingly equivocal but also in the sense that it is in many ways contradictory to the evidence we’re actually shown in the episode itself.
more discussion after the “keep reading,” if you’re interested.
__
looking at this episode, it seems like the writers had a point that they wanted to make*, and they went through the trouble to provide evidence in favor of their point, but then they ultimately backed off of saying, “and here’s what this all means” (likely because they were scared of making any kind of controversial statements that could potentially alienate their mostly white, middle-class american viewing audience).
* they may have been inspired to write the episode in the wake of the police shooting of oscar grant, which took place earlier that year.
if we summarize the episode, it seems clear what they were trying to get at: an old veteran cop who has extensive history making racist remarks shoots a black man after shouting a derogatory racial term at him. while there is initially some indication that the shooting may be personal in nature, it’s later shown that the shooter couldn’t identify the victim by anything other than his skin color. though the killing was neither premeditated nor a point-blank coup de grâce scenario, it was one where the cop made a snap judgment based only on his superficial assumptions.
the obvious implication would be that racial prejudice played a role in the killing, not necessarily in the sense of it being a hate crime where the old cop set out to kill the victim specifically because he was black but in the sense that he allowed his racial biases to influence his decision-making in a life or death situation—i.e., he saw a black man with a gun in a “rough neighborhood,” made a presumption, shot first, and asked questions later.
however, the truly maddening thing is that even though the episode sets up the thesis that prejudice was a major factor in the shooting and provides plenty of evidence to prove that point, it (in the end) refuses to actually make a pronouncement. it won’t come out and say, “race played a role in this killing (in particular),” much less, “racism is an issue in policework (over all).”
in some ways, it even goes as far as to spit in the face of its own evidence.
here’s how so:
first of all, the episode sets up danny finn as some weird kind of aberration, like he's the only officer at the lvpd who is racist at all, rather than being one among many.
of course, not only is this "one bad seed" portrayal not true to life, but it's also disproven by what we see and hear about in the episode itself.
we know for a fact that this guy habitually used racial slurs on the job prior to the shooting and that he once punched the coworker who reported him for using racial slurs at a work-centered party, and yet, despite there being a record of his racist and violent behavior, he was never removed from working with trainees or forced to undergo sensitivity training, much less fired.
while he was denied the promotion he put in for, that outcome is just a proverbial "slap on the wrist;" he was still going to get his pension, regardless.
at the very least, this toleration of finn's behavior makes his supervisors and other coworkers besides scott johnson negligent; more likely, it makes them complicit; and in a lot of cases, it probably means that they are flat-out guilty—i.e., that they're not fussed about his racist behavior because they behave in similar ways themselves.
still.
the episode seems to stubbornly insist (despite showing us evidence to the contrary) that most of the other cops are disdainful of finn's behavior and that to many of them it even seems to come as a shock that he could possibly behave in the way that he does.
nowhere does the episode give any indication that there are almost certainly other officers who feel the same way that finn does working on the force alongside of him (and that that's why he's been allowed to be the way that he is for so long), much less that the problem we see with finn may be part of a larger systemic issue.
while the words "racial profiling" are said once by ray—more on that point in a minute—there's no more overarching discussion of the culture of the department or of american policework in general.
no one asks, “who let this guy get as far as he did? why was he able to thrive in this environment without any real consequences for his racist behavior? who in authority dropped the ball here and why?”
instead, the discussion is all relegated to danny finn as an individual.
—and even that discussion is in itself inconclusive, waffling on exactly how racist he actually is and how his racism comes to bear in the case at hand (or doesn't).
while we hear finn specifically identify scott johnson by race (and use a derogatory term to do so) literal milliseconds before fatally shooting him, the episode seems to sidestep the significance of this point.
though the csis do eventually prove that finn's kill-shot on johnson wasn't a point-blank coup de grâce to the back and that finn couldn't have known that his target was (specifically) johnson, the audio recording definitively shows that finn knew that his target was a black man.
however, the significance of him shouting out a derogatory racial term before shooting johnson is just glossed over.
catherine makes the argument that he maybe said something he "didn't mean" in the heat of the moment (even though there's no evidence to suggest that he didn't mean it and indeed is evidence to the contrary to suggest that he habitually uses derogatory language toward black people as part of his everyday speech patterns).
ray then handwaves away the implication that race had anything to do with finn's decision to fire, citing statistics to show that most officers make the decision to shoot on a split-second basis without forming opinions based on skin color (even though, again, the evidence in this specific case not only suggests but outright proves that finn had enough time to both register johnson's race and use it as a deciding factor in his decision to shoot before he pulled the trigger for the final time).
showing that finn didn't kill scott johnson because he was scott johnson is one thing, but showing that he didn't kill scott johnson because scott johnson was black is another, and the episode never satisfactorily establishes the second claim.
indeed, the preponderance of evidence presented in the episode itself suggests that johnson’s race does play a significant role in finn’s behavior toward him, not in the sense that finn says to himself “i’m going to kill this man because he’s a black man (and i hate that particular group)” but in the sense that he assesses johnson as a threat who must be killed based on the fact that he’s a black man with a gun “in the ‘hood.”
that finn views black men with guns “in this neighborhood” as inherently threatening is not in question, as he flat-out says so himself.
that he has negative feelings toward black people that dispose him to make assumptions about them as a racial group is also not in question.
finn is shown to be a repeat offender in using racial slurs. he's shown to have an "us vs. them" mentality when it comes to himself as a white police officer and the black community. he shown to have had at least two angry, racially-motivated outbursts against black people that we know of (one when he punches scott johnson at the party for reporting his use of slurs, the other when he starts hurling racist abuse at the black civilians gathered around the crime scene during the walkthrough).
the episode shows us that he's racist and that race does affect the way he operates as a cop.
but then the episode tells us the equivalent of, "well, we can't be sure how much race may or may not have played a role in him shooting this black man. maybe him shouting a derogatory racial term before shooting this black man doesn't mean anything. you know, in a lot of cases, cops don't have the time to make determinations based on race, so it's possible that he didn't, either. who can say? certainly not us. we're not going to press the issue or interrogate it further, especially since finn is dead now."
and that's weak sauce.
that's the writers walking back on their conclusions, right there.
they venture all the way up to the line of saying, "here is a racist cop who killed a man due to racist assumptions," but then they don't ever cross the line to make any kind of official declaration, much less to draw any larger implications from the scenario.
they ultimately act as if finn being a racist is extraneous to how he behaved on the night of the shooting.
and maybe the worst part of all is that they make ray—the only black main character on the show at this time—the one to ultimately exculpate finn.
making the only black main character the one who ultimately says, "i don't think this was a race issue after all," even though the episode itself provides plenty of evidence that this was a race issue indeed, effectively puts the issue to bed.
were there more black main characters than one, ray’s assessment wouldn’t take on the same “word of god” quality that it does, but since he’s alone—literally the only other black characters in the episode aside from the civilian witnesses from the neighborhood are deputy carver from dispatch and officer larry mitchell, neither of whom gets more than a line or two of dialogue in the whole script—his voice carries a disproportionate amount of weight.
having him tell the team (and, by extension, the audience) “when i had a gun pulled on me, i didn't check for skin color before i pulled the trigger” and then argue that there’s no real bad guy in this case makes that the final word on everything, even though that’s not what the “essay” actually demonstrates.
while finn may not have killed johnson to get back at him for reporting him and didn’t necessarily kill him because he was black, that doesn’t mean he wasn’t still a bad guy and that there isn’t still a problem to be addressed.
it doesn’t mean finn wasn’t racist.
it doesn’t mean finn didn’t allow racist assumptions to motivate his actions that night.
it doesn’t mean there isn’t a larger issue in the lvpd where the system allows racists like finn to function.
it doesn’t make what happened a “no harm, no foul” situation.
if the csi writers had wanted to tell a truly ambiguous story where there really was no bad guy and race was not an issue, they could have.
but they didn’t.
they told a story about a racist cop who didn’t even identify himself or issue any commands before shooting a black man in the back, all because he assumed the guy must have been a threat based on what he “looked like” and where he was located at the time.
that’s what’s in the episode.
that’s what they established.
but then they pulled the punch; they backed down from making anything of the story that they told.
they could have drawn conclusions about how bias plays a role in policework, how police departments oftentimes enable and shield racist officers, how even “casual racism” has consequences, how the police apparatus in general disproportionately targets black and brown men, etc.
to do so would have only required a few tweaks, really: have just one main character question how someone like finn could get so far in the department and come to the realization that he couldn’t have been alone in his racist views, given that he’d been “passed along” for twenty-five years; stick to the evidence and acknowledge that finn calling johnson by a derogatory racial epithet immediately before fatally shooting him is significant to establishing finn’s state of mind and worldviews and then don’t back down from this idea later on; don’t make the sole black main character on the show downplay the racial aspects of the case that are certifiably present just to make the episode more palatable/comfortable for the audience; etc.
while the episode doesn’t have to be a “morality tale” or become overly simplified—go ahead and keep it to where finn is the exact kind of “well, i’m just old school/not pc” racist who often gets passes in real life because of his age, as opposed to some kind of more blatant and monstrous bogeyman; stay in the “race was a factor but not the ultimate motive” lane; show various and disparate reactions among the team members (some of which, like catherine’s, are uncomfortable to acknowledge)!—it could definitely be drawn up differently so that its thesis ultimately aligns with its conclusion, and its conclusion is not ambiguous or in question in the end.
if the writers wanted to say something about racism in policework, which they obviously did, then they should have just damn said it. they shouldn’t have backed down and done weird about-faces on their own points.
otherwise, they shouldn’t have raised the issue to begin with.
“if you can’t stand the heat” and all that.
like you say, what they did was ultimately a thematic and moral cop-out.
they could have handled everything so much better and actually written a conclusion for this argument that makes sense.
thanks for the question! please feel welcome to send another any time.

Hi! I’m the csi marathon asker (We will be doing this tomorrow so I’m super excited! Ty for all your suggestions, I did take a few of them.) I just wanted to ask what your personal favorite 2 person dynamics were on the show, from any era- which pairs do you like seeing working together on a particular case? Obviously gsr, but do you have any others? Whether it be Lab techs, detectives, csi, etc
hi, @jjnora!
you're very welcome! i hope you and your friend enjoy your marathon a lot.
as for dynamics, honestly, i enjoy pretty much all of the possible combinations for the original team graveyard between s1-s8—like, there are no team-ups where i go, "oh no, it's [character a] working with [character b]; that's not at all interesting to me." all of the characters have such good and unique rapports with one another that there's just a blanket level of appeal.
that said, the two-person teams i am most emotionally invested in (aside from gsr, which is of course my be-all, end-all) include, in no particular order:
grissom and catherine
grissom and brass
warrick and nick
sara and greg
hodges and wendy
as far as the later seasons go, i'm not a huge fan of them or any of the new characters, so my preference there is just to see the remaining original team members working together as often as possible.
happy watching! i hope your friend enjoys his introduction to the show.

tag game :)
I was tagged in this tag game literally like a month ago by @andromedaa-tonks BUT I'm finally doing it. don’t worry I'm doing a read more break bc I know 99%  of people could probably not care any less
why did you choose your url?
for some reason I really didn't want a url with any underscores or dashes so I decided on potterscar bc I figured no one else would have it and I was right lols
any sideblogs?
kinda? I just recently became a member of @/dailyhpgifs.
how long have you been on tumblr?
bro literally so long dude. I wanna say my first ever blog was in 2012 or 2013 where I just reblogged whatever I want. then, this blog actually started in 2014 as a 5sos blog lol and I stopped using it around 2015 or early 2016. so, when I came back to Tumblr in like early 2021, I had around 100 inactive 5sos blog followers lol. I started posting my own original content about a month ago :)
do you have a queue tag?
yes! I used to just reblog like everything all at once and I felt like my followers weren't seeing all the content I was reblogging, so I decided to make my queue “queue who must not be named” so hopefully creators are able to get more exposure from my blog than before. it posts 10 times a day, but sometimes I reblog things randomly or usually reblog my mutuals hp content as soon as I see it.
why did you start this blog?
well 5sos originally lol. I've always been a huge hp fan (I've read the books 10 times and I'm currently on my 11th. anyway, hp brings me a lot of happiness and after starting college last year, life got pretty rough for me. this blog and creating my own hp gifs has been a really nice escape.
why did you choose your icon?
I had a random harry icon until recently, but hermione is my fav and I wanted to make a header/icon set a few days ago so I took a pic of hermione and made it kind of greenish to match my theme and new header.
why did you choose your header?
I really wanted to make one of the paper rip gif headers and I figured I could make the greens in that scene really stand out which is what I was going for.
what’s your post with the most notes?
this set of harry and luna and this one of Fred and George are tied rn
how many mutuals do you have?
I don't know, probably like 10-20?
how many followers do you have?
as of when I'm writing this I have 640. I know its not a ton or anything but to me it feels like a lot lol.
how many people do you follow?
i follow 79 accounts.
have you ever made a shitpost?
everything I posted on that cursed 5sos blog when I was 14 was horrible but its definitely been deleted.
how often do you use tumblr a day?
probably like 2 ish hours.
did you ever get into a fight with another blog?
oh for sure on the 5sos blog
how do you feel about the “you need to reblog this” posts?
most of the time I feel like the content is necessary but I don't think guilt tripping is the way to go.
do you like tag games?
this is my first one lols so I guess so.
do you like ask games?
I like them more than tag games.
which of your mutuals do you think is tumblr famous?
like all of them lol.
do you have a crush on a mutual?
again, all of them ;)
definitely no one read this but it was fun hehe. I tag @fidellius @hpottah @jjnora @rcwenaclaw and anyone else who wants to do it
