listening to music at work and Within Temptation's "Angels" is narilamb to me
"sparkling angel, I believe you wae my savior in my time of need / blinded by faith I couldn't hear all the whispers, the warning so clear"
"There's no escape now, no mercy no more / No remorse cuz I still remember the smile when you tore me apart / you took my heart, deceived me right from the start, you showed me dreams- I wish they'd turn into real. You broke the promise and made me realize it was all just a lie"
"Sparkling angel, I couldn't see your dark intentions, your feelings for me / fallen angel, tell me why, what is the reason, the thorn in your eye"
"This world may have failed you, it doesn't give you reason why / you could have chosen a different path in life"
"Could have been forever, now we have reached the end"
I mean with my brainrot rn how could I NOT think of them with this-

Do you think the Nibelungenlied isn't an inspiration for ASOIAF simply because you don't think GRRM has read it, or is there something in the former's themes antithetical to the latter's? A lot of what you've already said about gender and violence in the Nibelungenlied seems pretty applicable to ASOIAF from what I can tell
no no i just think he hasnt read it. he’s never mentioned it or referenced it directly and i feel like it’s kind of obscure? most people would know it from wagner’s ring cycle which is really a different story, and i feel like grrm’s talked about how most of his influences are like shakespeare and british history and arthuriana. but yes the nibelungenlied actually has pretty much identical themes to asoiaf in terms of how its characters exist in a world defined by violent structures with gender being one of those violent structures etc etc and the mask of beauty and knightly courtly ways hiding an underbelly of brutal violence and blood etc and there are a bunch of super eerie similarities between kriemhild’s baptism massacre and the red wedding. so it would make SENSE if it was somehow an influence on him but i cant prove it

28. A Kiss in Parting —- moving to become full thread.
War. It was all out war and blood now, something Ricky had started, that many others had tried and failed because the pirate heart was far too strong. All of their raids, all of the injuries, all of the deaths would not be for wrought and in vain. Life had become more fucking painful than it usually was thanks to this pompous rich fuck at the Brits. Enough was enough.
The final battleground? Nassau. It was strategically placed, a harbor the Brits had wanted for years, a pure pirate fucking Democracy. These streets all pirates knew. From the fort with its canons on the shore that kept the British at bay, to its little secret rum running passageways. Nassau was a pirate haven and if they wanted war? The final battle would be here. The line in the sand was crossed in blood and toil, and they had simply had enough.
It had taken some doing to unite other pirates and crews together because they were so vastly different and their loyalties were split but it had been done. For weeks Ricky had laid siege to the port, trying ti starve out its pirate rats, but pirates were too stubborn to just die. The main fort and it’s canons helped destroy and hold off the floatilla of vessels as long as she could. But with so much bombardment, even to the crucial fort the British didn’t want to destroy? They had no choice. Pirates were dead, the ships had come ashore. Their enemies were unleashed. This was it.
Izzy was frankly terrified for Stede. All of his training couldn’t possibly prepare him for *this*. The injured.. the ones who were low on rations and starving.. the brutality. There was only so much he could protect his husband from. Yes, husband. It hadn’t been the ideal wedding and they damn sure intended to do it right when this was over.. but neither man was just going to die in the sand without saying vows. And Ed.. fucking Ed. Ed had given him away. Even Ed had picked up a sword again to fight, abandoning his inn by the sea. He had been there, he had passed Izzy to Stede happily. Hell, they might not do their vows again.. but perhaps just festivities as now there was no time for that.
He could hear the gunshots and explosions. He could bear the screams. And he could see the frightened look in Stede’s eyes. Stede wasn’t a coward, but training.. the raids.. and this? They were all so very different. He even looked frozen in place like a statue, and that was when a soldier ran up from behind Stede with his sword for the kill. Unfortunately for him, even with a wooden leg Izzy was faster. He was on Stede in an instant, running the man through as his body fell lifeless to the ground. Already Izzy was smeared with blood, his hair wet from sweat. He snatched his shoulders.
“ Bonnet? —Honey, honey look at me. I want you to.. — “
He was cut off by a loud barrage of canon fire. Oh they were truly breaching the shore, more of the main infantry getting closer. Ed was shouting frantically to the man that in the past few weeks had become a leader on this island. Pirates knew Izzy. They knew Ed.. hell Stede had even gained infamy. But they listened to the likes of the duo of Blackbeard. Ed and Izzy.
Ed was now shouting at him. “ Iz!! Iz!! We need you toward the battlements, we’re dropping like files up here!! “
He nodded abs turned back to a seemingly still dazed husband, sheathing his cutlass and reaching up, holding his hands to cup his beautiful face. “ Now you listen to me, yeah? Don’t go trying to be brave and doing something stupid. Okay? Down. You keep your fucking head down. Remember the plan, right? If they cross by ‘Ol Market Way, have Wee John light the fuses. “ They’d blow them to hell, give the others a bit better chance to fall back and regroup.
Ed screamed again and Izzy turned, spitting and shouting back. “ JUST GO! “ He turned back to his dearest, his beloved. “ You stay with the boys, you don’t fight unless you have to. Try to stay with them, all right? I love you.. I love you so much.. “ His eyes were watering because this may be the very last time they speak again. He had to go, but he crushed his lips and body against his. One last kiss, he thought as tears rolled down his cheek. You’re dying for him. You’re dying for them, but you’re saving him.

omg also im soo mad i e been listening to rhis worldbuilding podcast at work and it was giving me lots of ideas but i had to turn it off bc i took like..an hour on a room bc i was so focused on jt and my beautiful world.. and i forgot all the ideas i had 😭😭 all i can remember is my fairy thing and that isnt even a from today thoufht
#bc bssicallyyy the way magic works is every living thing produces Some magic. like its legit produced by an organ in all lviing things. and#how Much you produce is like. it can be influenced by a lot of factors genetics etc but everybody produces some. so thats all well and good#and the fairies technically dont produce lke. more magic rhan humans yk. kts actually Very similar levels BUT bc theyre so small that amt#of magic is proportionally a LOT. thats why fairies glow is bc they have so much magic (magic glows and in humans who#have a lot of magic they also tend to glow around their chest :] omg and alsooo some of the ways magic can be channeled is likee. through#your hands or your voice theres rly so many basically. and its very versatile but its likee#so im stoll working on the rules for it but basically the idea of it is like. it can be used as a form of energy and also as temporary#form of matter if that makes sense ?? idk how to explain kt)#But anyways so the fairies theg r soo little but have sooo much magic proportionally. so fhey can '#fly' with it (not rly flying rly its more like making little platforms to walk on in the air... this parts jnspired by kekkaishi cant even#lie to you i thjnk its awesome when they do that.) so ya#and technically a human could do the sane thing but the platform would be bigger and bearing more weight so it wouldnt rly be as like.#practical.. bc 1 human sized platform would be like..1000 fairy skzed platforms LOL. yk. but yeah so yeah#n then on occasion fairies are born with very low amts of magic (this happens with all creatures everybody Has magic but some ppl have so#little that rhey cant do much with jt) n these 'fairies' +#(theyre usually called something else but they r fairies. ive been calling them borrowers in my head but thats copyrighted skull) usually#cant live in fairy cities bc. well. fairy cities r very oriented around being able.to use magic to navigate them. so in antiquity the#borrower fairies would form sort of like. Underlayer cities where youd have the main fairy city up in the trees and then on the ground#would be the borrower city. but that started getting dangerous especially when tthe bigger ppl started expanding their territories and#stuff. so borrower fairies ended up forming Way more secretive communities either underground or like. oftentimes there will be entire#borrower communities in a house yk. and u see where my jnspo is comjng from yes i love the borrowers yes i watched arrietty a few weeks ago#but yeah :] the borrowers are wayyy more secretive bc they cant defend themselves against the big folk the way the magical fairies can yk.#so fairies are Known (though not often encountered bc of how defensive they are of their cities)#to humans but borrowers are WAYYY less frequently seen bc they go out.of their way not to.#theres ALSO. so. as mentioned magic is produced by an organ. normally if anything happens to that organ youre like. dead. yk. you cant rly#live without it. However fairies have figured out a way to majorly decrease your magic levels while keepjng you alive#like 50 percent kf the tjme it works the rest they just die. its a surgicql procedure basically and its Intensely guarded#as in 1-2 ppl know how to do it at any given time and if anybody else fjnds out theyre killed immediately. the only ppl who know it Exists#r like. theee highest ranking fairies in existence. its used as a punishment for the most 'heinous' crimes. aka the ones the fairy monarch#dislikes the most -_-. its not a Technical exile but like. yes it is..yk. since as i said you rly cant navigate a fairy city if you dont.

Yo. I'm not in the know so maybe u can help. I keep seeing Disclose but with the same lettering Discharge used. Are they related or is Disclose a newer band just tipping the hat? Thx
Yo! Okay, so Disclose came after Discharge did. Discharge started a sound that would eventually be called dbeat (Discharge beat) because of a distinct drum pattern they used. This was back in 1980 with their Realities of War EP, they had some earlier releases which were more Sex Pistols styled, but they switched to hardcore punk with Realities of War which is also where they first "dbeated" for lack of a better word haha Dbeat as a drum pattern made its way into metal as well, a lot of thrash and even death metal and black metal use dbeats in their music. Dbeat ultimately made a bigger impact in punk though along with a lot of riffs and general tone and distortion creating a whole subgenre and jnspiring a ton of bands like Anti Cimex, Avskum, Doom, Disfear, and many many more. Disclose came about in 1990 and took the sound of Discharge and pushed it way further into what got called Rawpunk. Way more distortion, way noisier, even faster playing, but still keeping the same dbeat sound. Also, the "Dis" of Diclose comes from the "Dis" of Discharge. You'll find a lot of "Dis" bands, all paying homage to Discharge. Also where the label disrocker came from. Anyways, there is my short rant about the bands! Hope it helped

I've also seen people argue re last post that critiquing the way ai gathers data sets is a bad argument because "all artists are jnspired by other artists" but like. There is a huge difference between taking art off of an artists page without asking them to train an ai and a fellow artist being inspired by your color palettes or painting style or whatever. If someone took an art piece and put it up on their website w/o asking the artist or crediting them or even notifying them that would be wrong or at the very least very scummy but when some one puts it in an ai training set it's the same as taking inspiration??? I cannot believe that.

Hi, I've been following for a while and wanted to thank you for sharing your art here! I found myself in a slump with art for a long time. It has been something I've liked to do since I was a kid, but I found it hard to keep up the motivation to draw--I didn't even know what I wanted to draw, if that makes sense. Seeing your art, though, reignited my passion. I love Legend of Zelda, and even more than that, I love the way you create landscapes and you've jnspired me to start making landscape art. I find myself so much happier making art now. Again, thank you for sharing your art and process with us. :)
🥺🥺🥺 it’s very kind of u to share this, thank you!! I fell out with making any sort of art for a very long while as well, never thought I’d be enjoying making it again at all. But here I am with it and I’m very glad that it has motivated u to do landscape art! I hope that u continue having fun with it 🥹

there's no denying how, at best, scaffolding is distracting and how, at worst, it's an obstruction of or affront to the urban landscape. it imposes, it confronts, it overwhelms with its presence, these towering and serpentine creatures. they appear almost without warning and remain for so many months that you begin to lose track; it simply melts into its surroundings, a metal spine traveljng alongside the back of a building.
in new york, scaffolding has proven itself particularly unavoidable, inevitable. at nearly every turn and at the corner of every sidewalk is scaffolding. when one scaffold vanishes, another appears in its wake, only a few steps away, and embeds itself, fimly, in that place. of course, it goes without saying thag scaffolding is an essential construction tool; it's necessary to assess a building's condition, and it's necessary to create, to demolish, to construct our everchanging urban surroundings. new york is especially dependent on scaffolding, requiring assessments for building compliance every few years, forcing upon people in larger apartment buildings the jnspiring view of metal or, worse, green wood for the next few months. though dismal and bleak while there, these measures are essential and an inherent characteristic of living in a city.
how, then, does a city cope with these disruptions, these seemingly unpleasant reminders that our buildings aren't as indestructable or as protective as we initially hope? we adapt: scaffolds and their sheds become shelters; they become desirable canvases for graffiti and tags; they offer a view of how .....
in paris, rhere's an alternative view of the scaffold. rather than demanding adaptation, it integrates itself within the fabric of the city, blends into what it now conceals. during a recent walk, i noticed that the arch close to the louvre was shielded by scaffolding due to ongoing construction. the scaffolding, however, wasn't bare or obvious — it was covered by what seemed to be a large tarp, superimposed wirh an image of the arch. in new york, i imagined rhis scene unfolding differently: i could envision with ease the scaffoldjnf bare against the sky, unnerving and unapologetic in its cruelty. it's a common sight, after all. what would preclude a landmark or beloved building from its reach?
i encountered additional scaffolding during these walks, but not much whatsoever, not nearly in the same volume as that of new york. the scaffolding i did find was, like the arch at the Louvre, intended to blend into its surroundings. if not covered by a tarp with the facsimile of the building, then an apologetic and uplifting graphic expressing why, exactly, the scaffolding was there in the first place and what to ultimately expect upon its removal: don't you see, this is necessary, but its promises justify this blight upon our wonderful city! in fact, this will only make our city far more beautiful, far more desirable.
it's a fascinating mode of interpreting scaffolding, and one i've hardly considered having lived in new york my entire life. perhaps i've become desensitized, as many others here; but, in the end, there's something to be said about masking the labor involved in scaffolding and the construction it implies. certainly these structures are eyesores, they're unloved and didficult, janky, clunky, jarring, but they display new york's resilience and commitment to rejuvination and renovation. the requiremenrs for building assessments, inspectjons, and maintenance codes were, after all, implemented following the death of a girl from a delapjdafed masonry block. ....
scaffolding isn't necessarily beautiful - or at least not at face value - but it does inspire the imagination to reassess what it can offer. shelter from horrid weather, a canvas, a strange and lopsided jungle gym for drunk teenages. when approaching these structures from the perspective of a living city, from thise who interacted daily with these structures, what one sees aren't immediately eyesores but, instead, people: .....
this isn't ro say that disguising scaffolding is an unfair or unjust interpretation of these necessary structures, but moreso one that new york isn't as keen on. those efforts to "beautify" scaffolding and sheds don't obscure its essential strucutre, but rather expand upon and integrate it within their very form. paintings are made upon the sheds; they don't hang from and completely cover them. you don't cross the street to avoid scaffolding; makeshift sidewalks are made to pass beneath or next to the scaffolding. it's a structure, then, rhat displays how people choose to interact with their city, with the urban requirements it imposes. for paris, its requirements are simple: beauty and integrity, both of which are challenged by the jankinesz that is scaffolding. for new york, its perhaps more complex: how do we adapt to something we might hate, something we might despise?

Ive never been asked why i try and draw people thst look different. Ive never been praised on it either. And thats ok. I just want to talk.
I dont see my body type ever, not even in my own art. Im an average height, but im really damn skinny. Like knobby knees and elbows. As in my arms look disproportionate because there's so little mass to them. My legs do too, but not as bad as I've built muscle to them. Im in roughly the 16th percentile weight wise for my height, meaning only 16% of people my height weigh less than me, and I am average height. But i also know people who do not look like me do not see their body types either. I know I have friends with pudge, and softness, and proportions that aren't drawn where they can find them with ease. I know I have a friend, and his chest is probably considered unrelistic in a draeing but it exists, and i know thst anime doesnt cover it because he also has the weight to match.
Even if I'm not giving someone a body type to make someone else seen seeing people be people is inspiring. I may draw mostly what I want to look like because I like drawing people I find attractive but I just love seeing people. Sometime soon I will learn faces in detail and I will draw imperfections, because imperfection is the inspiration, and I'm not jnspired to make it go away

rule #1 of the internet; never use your real name. (at least that's what my tech dad taught me) plus it's fun to get creative. technically my user is a play on my first name but I digress. I straight up looked up the latin word for space ( I think that's what I looked up? ) because haha funny planet haha and then I just smacked together because it sounds intelligent
