  The steed of Rhaenyra’s thirdborn son, Joffrey, Tyraxes was a growing dragon with a lot of potential. He was slightly smaller than Vermax and Arrax, and at the time of the Dance, he was able to fly long distances but not big enough to fight. 

  Tyraxes, who was named after one of the gods of Old Valyria, meant ‘justice’ in High Valyrian. The offspring of Syrax, Tyraxes takes after his mother in terms of appearance. Although more of a light grey, with accents of blue and silver, he had a horse-like snout and protruding horns. 

  Like all dragons, Tyraxes echoed the same traits as his rider. So, although Joffrey was young, he was adamant in playing a role in the war against the Greens. He wanted to defend his House, his family and most importantly taking revenge against his brother. Tyraxes followed suit and never went against orders. They were both headstrong and resilient.

Hotd fans. One of my previous posts got me thinking, and here is my grown-up fancast of the "strong" children of Rhaenyra Targaryen and Laenor Velaryon and Harwin Strong

Jacaerys Targaryen. King of the iron throne and rider of the dragon Vermax

His brother Lucerys Velaryon, Lord of Driftmark and rider of the dragon Arrax

Their younger brother Joffrey Velaryon, prince of the Targaryen dynasty, and rider of the dragon Tyraxes

And lastly, their sister Visenya Velaryon, Princess of the Targaryen dynasty, rider of Vermithor, and the realms delight

Of course, I'll keep Harry Collett as Jacaerys. He is perfect for him! (Just let him keep his natural hair!!)

Harry Gilby for Lucerys. I fancast him as a lot of other characters, but he fits Luke so well.

And Skandar Keynes is Joffrey. The way he plays Edmund after the first movie is very Joff coded sometimes.

If hbo had done things right, this is how old they would all be during the dance 🙄🙄 but they aged up some characters and aged down others, and is just a mess.

   The third son of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Ser Laenor Velaryon, although his true father is Ser Harwin Strong. Many at court gossiped about this issue, pushing the Blacks and Greens further apart. 

  His mount was the young Tyraxes, smaller than his brothers’ dragons, Vermax and Arrax. During the Dance of the Dragons, Tyraxes could fly long distances with his rider but couldn’t fight in battle. 

   In order to quell the ever-growing gossip about Rhaenyra’s son’s parentage, Viserys decreed that each boy would have a dragon egg placed in their crib, and when they hatched, it would prove that they were of true Targaryen and Velaryon heritage.

ASOIAF FANCASTING --> EVERY NAMED FEMALE CHARACTER ABOVE THE AGE OF FIVE, PART VII

Argella Durrandon (b. approx. 20 BC): Daughter of the last Storm King, Argilac the Arrogant. After he was killed in battle by Orys Baratheon, she declared herself the new Storm Queen, but was betrayed by her own garrison and delivered bound and gagged to the enemy. She then surrendered her kingdom to Aegon the Conqueror and married Orys, founding House Baratheon. Fancast: Amy Bailey.

Arianne Martell (b. 276 AC): The oldest child and heir of Prince Doran Martell. At the age of fourteen, she uncovers what she thinks is her father's plan to disinherit her in favour of her younger brother Quentyn. This leads her to attempt to crown Myrcella Baratheon as Queen of the Seven Kingdoms when her older brother Joffrey dies, so that she will replace her father in the ensuing conflict with the Iron Throne. However, this plan fails and Doran finally shares his plans for a Targaryen restoration with her in the aftermath. Arianne is currently on her way to meet the supposed Aegon, son of Rhaegar Targaryen who miraculously survived the sack of King's Landing. Fancast: Morena Baccarin.

Arra Norrey (c. 110-128 AC): Childhood companion and first wife of Lord Cregan Stark of Winterfell. She died giving birth to his first son, Rickon. Fancast: Natalie Portman.

Arrana Stark (b. approx 180 AC): Eldest daughter of Serena Stark and her husband Edric Stark, who was also her uncle. Serena was the younger daughter of Rickon Stark, who was the heir to Winterfell before his death, but none of Rickon's descendants inherited Winterfell. Arrana's older twin brothers, Cregard and Torrhen, probably died young. Arrana was married to Osric Umber, Lord of the Last Hearth, and bore his children. Fancast: Anna Walton.

Arsa Stark (b. approx. 190 AC): Daughter of Lord Brandon Stark, youngest son of Cregan Stark, and his wife Alys Karstark. She had two full older brothers as well as a bastard brother. Fancast: Caren Pistorius.

Arwen Upcliff (era of Andal conquest): Her marriage to Alester II Arryn, King of Mountain and Vale, brought the Witch Isle into his kingdom. Fancast: Camilla Rutherford.

Arwyn Frey (b. 285 AC): Daughter of Lord Walder Frey by Annara Farring. She is one of the Frey maidens presented to King Robb. Fancast: Jordon Stevens.

Arwyn Oakheart (b. approx. 240 AC): Lady of Old Oak and Head of House Oakheart. She is the mother of Arys Oakheart, member of the Kingsguard. She initially supports Renly Baratheon's claim to the Iron Throne after the death of King Robert, but when he dies, she goes along with House Tyrell's support of King Joffrey. Fancast: Cate Blanchett.

Arya Flint (b. approx. 210 AC): Wife of Rodrik Stark, known as the Wandering Wolf, and mother to two daughters. Her younger daughter Lyarra married Lord Rickard Stark, her cousin, and bore the children Brandon, Eddard, Lyanna and Benjen. Eddard named his second daughter after her. Fancast: Hailee Steinfeld.

Arya Stark (b. 289 AC): Second daughter and third child of Lord Eddard Stark and his wife, Catelyn Tully. When Eddard is executed in King's Landing, she goes missing. She attempts to reach her remaining family, but is first captured by Gregor Clegane's men and then her mother and brother Robb are slaughtered by the Freys at the Red Wedding. She then takes a ship to Braavos and becomes an acolyte of the Faceless Men, training to become an assassin. Meanwhile the Lannister-Bolton alliance claim to have found her, and send the false Arya Stark to the North to marry Ramsay Bolton (originally Snow) in order to secure House Bolton's hold over the North. Fancast: Maisie Williams.

Hi! Just had a thought… do you think Targ fancasts/fanarts always have them with dark brows and white blonde hair (physically kinda impossible surely?) because to give them pale brows to match would detract from the “model” beauty of the Targs everyone headcanons, and instead reveal their more unsettling, genetically particular vibe? This isn’t to say pale hair + brows are unsettling in general, far from it, but the Targ look, to me, should be more “unique” (thanks inbreeding). Thoughts? 🤔

Completely agree! I’m not aware of their popular fancasts, so I won’t speak on that, but I do agree on the particular vibe of the Targaryen look. 

It's funny you bring this up, because recently I was talking to a friend about my introduction to the ASoIaF universe. Through social media and online advertisement, I was familiar with Joffrey, Ned, Tyrion, and Daenerys.

Without knowing her name or any additional information, based entirely on her aesthetic alone, I had assumed Daenerys was the antagonist. Putting aside dragons being a clear indicator, I thought the show was leaning into the evil albino trope. (A terrible trope, don’t get me wrong.)

I can’t think of any off the top of my head, but I believe there’s more than a few references to Targaryens looking more strikingly alien than conventionally beautiful. That can’t be an accident.

• Sophie Turner as Sansa (unpopular opinion: Sophie looks like Sansa) and in general the Tully look

• Emilia Clarke as Margaery (the eye colour is wrong, but it’s easily fixable) or Millie Bobby Brown

• Liv Tyler for the female Stark look

• Margot Robbie or Naomi Watts as Cersei

• it’s hard finding a young, blonde actor with plump lips, but Dean-Charles Chapman as Joffrey could work (as children of twins, Joffrey and Tommen would look really similar, so maybe a chubbier Dean for Tommen)

• apparently, Elizabeth Olsen auditioned for Daenerys, and I could see her?

• Aaron Taylor-Johnson for the male Tyrell look

Hmm nice! I'll throw in my versions (though I'm not married to them by anything means). I've already talked about Sansa. I think I'd agree about Dean-Charles Chapman (very hard indeed!), but for the others you've listed, how about:

Lily James (in Othello, aged 22) as Margaery Tyrell

I think she's got that pretty, seemingly innocent softness, which makes her appear younger than she is, the brown eyes and hair, but there's something about that butter wouldn't melt vibe that can read a little false... Never trust a Tyrell, is my motto!

Lyanna Stark/Female™ Stark Look... tricky, but maybe Jessica Brown Findlay?

I've seen her fancast as Lyanna, specifically in her role in Labyrinth, but I kind of like her vibe in Jamaica Inn (age 25)... it's hard to find people who are the right ages for asoiaf because there are so many damn teenagers, lol. I just think her gaze (blue not grey, but close) kind of has that vibe of "you saw her beauty, but not the iron underneath." There's a steeliness there, a hint of defiant wolf blood, I think. Plus I'd say that Jessica does have a fairly long face, and in this role she has the Stark brown hair, flowing freely in a romantic way.

Rebecca Ferguson (in The White Queen, aged 30) as Cersei Lannister

She doesn't have green eyes, but in this role she has the required regal, proud vibe, plus that Lannister gold hair.

Anya Taylor Joy (in The Witch, aged 19) as Daenerys Targaryen

I think like Lily, Anya can appear younger in certain roles that she actually is. Eyes colour is a bit of a problem, because Anya's are a dark brown, but I think she has a very interesting face which could work for a Targaryen — her large, innocent eyes can appear quite unsettling. She can have an otherworldly quality. Plus in The Witch she has this pale blonde hair which matches up with the Targ Look™.

Freya Allen (in The Witcher, aged 18/19) as Daenerys Targaryen

I also like Freya as Dany too. She actually looks even younger than Anya in The Witch, so she's maybe a bit closer to book Dany in that regard. Her eyes are also blue, so it's less of a jump to imagine them purple, whereas that's where I struggle with Anya.

Max Irons (in The White Queen, aged 28) as the Male Tyrell Look™

If he had brown eyes he'd be perfect, but alas... in terms of vibes though, I think he's got the kind of boyishness I'd associate with a guy Tyrells (a certain girlishness for the ladies), that kind of easy charm, belying something a bit dodgy underneath... I think as a sibling to Lily he works quite well too, because I feel like they have a similar jaw/face shape — a sort of squarer heart shap?
