[JK]  My first job was as an Assistant Producer for a video game company called Interplay in Irvine, CA. I had recently graduated from Boston University's School of Fine Arts with an MFA in Directing (I started out as a theatre nerd), but also had some limited coding experience and a passion for computers. It didn't look like I'd be able to make a living directing plays, so I decided to combine entertainment and technology (before it was cool!) and pitched myself to Brian Fargo, Interplay's CEO. He gave me my first break. I packed up and moved out west, and I've been producing games ever since.

[JK] I loved my time at EA. I was there for almost a full decade, and learned a tremendous amount about game-making, and met the most talented and driven people, who I remain in touch with today. EA gave me many opportunities, and never stopped betting on me. I worked on The Sims for nearly 5 years, and then afterwards, I worked on console action games as part of the Visceral studio. I was the Creative Director for the 2007 game "The Simpsons", and was the Executive Producer and Creative Director for the 2009 game "Dante's Inferno".

[JK] I haven't played in a long while, but I do recall that after the game shipped, my wife and I played the retail version for some time -- we created ourselves, and experimented with having a baby ahead of the actual birth of our son (in 2007). Even though I'd been part of the development team, and understood deeply how the simulation worked, I was still continually surprised at how "real" our Sims felt, and how accurate their responses were to having a baby in the house. It really felt like "us"!

Now for some of the development and lore related questions:

[JK] So I ended up in the incredibly fortunate position of creating the shipping neighborhoods for The Sims 2, and recruiting a few teammates to help me as we went along. 

Around the same time, we started using the Buy/Build tools to make houses we could save, and also bring them into each new build of the game (correcting for any bugs and incompatibilities). With the import tool, we could load Sims into these houses. In time, this "vanguard QA" process turned into a creative endeavor to define the "saved state" of the neighborhoods we would actually end up shipping with the game.

On playtesting & the leftover sims data on various lots:

Basically, we were in the late stages of development, and the Save Game functionality wasn't quite working. In order to test the game properly, you really needed to have a lot of assets, and a lot of Sims with histories (as if you'd been playing them for weeks) to test out everything the game had to offer. So I started defining a set of characters in a spreadsheet, with all their tuning variables, and worked with engineering to create an importer, so that with each new build, I could essentially "load" a kind of massive saved game, and quickly start playing and testing. 

It was fairly organic, and as the game's functionality improved, so did our starter houses and families. 

The thought process behind the creation of the iconic three neighborhoods:

I would not say it was particularly planned out ahead of time. We knew we needed a few saved houses to ship with the game; Sims 1, after all, had the Goth house, and Bob Newbie's house. But there wasn't necessarily a clear direction for what the neighborhood would be for Sims 2. We needed the game to be far enough along, so that the neighborhood could be a proper showcase for all the features in the game. With each new feature that turned alpha, I had a new tool in my toolbox, and I could expand the houses and families I was working on. Once we had the multi-neighborhood functionality, I decided we would not just have 1 starter neighborhood, but 3. With the Aging feature, Memories, a few wacky objects, plus a huge catalog of architectural and decorative content, I felt we had enough material for 3 truly distinct neighborhoods. And we added a couple of people to what became the "Neighborhood Team" around that time.

Later, when we created Strangetown, and eventually Veronaville, I believe we went back and changed Pleasantville to Pleasantview... because I liked the alliteration of "Verona-Ville", and there was no sense in having two "villes". (To this day, by the way, I still don't know whether to capitalize the "V" -- this was hotly debated at the time!)

Pleasantview:

Anyway, to answer your question, we of course started with Pleasantview. As I recall, we were not quite committed to multiple neighborhoods at first, and I think it was called Pleasantville initially, which was kind of a nod to Simsville... but without calling it Simsville, which was a little too on the nose. (There had also been an ill-fated game in development at Maxis at the time, called SimsVille, which was cancelled.) It's been suggested that Pleasantville referred to the movie, but I don't think I ever saw that movie, and we just felt that Pleasantville kind of captured the feeling of the game, and the relaxing, simple, idyllic world of the Sims.

Pleasantview started as a place to capture the aging feature, which was all new to The Sims 2. We knew we had toddlers, teens, and elders to play with, so we started making families that reflected the various stages of family life: the single mom with 3 young kids, the parents with two teens, the old rich guy with two young gold-diggers, etc. We also had a much greater variety of ethnicity to play with than Sims 1, and we had all new variables like sexual orientation and memories. All these things made for rich fodder for a great diversity of families. Then, once we had family trees, and tombstones that carried the actual data for the dead Sims, the doors really blew open. We started asking ourselves, "What if Bella and Mortimer Goth could be characters in Sims 2, but aged 25 years? And what if Cassandra is grown up? And what if Bella is actually missing, and that could be a fun mystery hanging over the whole game?" And then finally the "Big Life Moments" went into the game -- like weddings and birthdays -- and we could sort of tee these up in the Save Game, so that they would happen within the first few minutes of playing the families. This served both as a tutorial for the features, but also a great story-telling device.

Anyway, it all just flowed from there, as we started creating connections between families, relationships, histories, family trees, and stories that we could weave into the game, using only the simulation features that were available to us. It was a really fun and creative time, and we wrote all of the lore of Sims 2 within a couple of months, and then just brought it to life in the game.

Strangetown:

Strangetown was kind of a no-brainer. We needed an alternate neighborhood for all the paranormal stuff the Sims was known for: alien abduction, male pregnancy, science experiments, ghosts, etc. We had the desert terrain, which created a nice contrast to the lush Pleasantville, and gave it an obvious Area 51 vibe.

The fact that Veronaville is the oldest file probably reflects the fact that it was finished first, not that it was started first. That's my guess anyway. It was the simplest neighborhood, in many ways, and didn't have as much complexity in terms of features like staged big life moments, getting the abduction timing right, the alien DNA thing (which I think was somewhat buggy up until the end), etc.  So it's possible that we simply had Veronaville "in the can", while we put the last polish on Pleasantville (which was the first and most important neighborhood, in terms of making a good impression) and Strangeville (which was tricky technically).

Veronaville:

But my personal favorite was Veronaville. We had this cool Tudor style collection in the Build mode catalog, and I wanted to ship some houses that showed off those assets. We also had the teen thing going on in the aging game, plus a lot of romance features, as well as enemies. I have always been a Shakespeare buff since graduate school, so putting all that together, I got the idea that our third neighborhood should be a modern-day telling of the Romeo and Juliet story. It was Montys and Capps (instead of Montagues and Capulets), and it just kind of wrote itself. We had fun creating the past family trees, where everyone had died young because they kept killing each other off in the ongoing vendetta.

[JK] You know, I have never seen The Lone Gunmen, and I don't remember making any kind of direct references with the Strangetown Sims, other than the general Area 51 theme, as you point out. Charles London helped out a lot with naming Sims, and I'm pretty sure we owe "Vidcund" and "Lazlo" to him ... though many team members pitched in creatively. He may have had something in mind, but for me, I largely went off of very generic and stereotypical ideas when crafting these neighborhoods. I kind of wanted them to be almost "groaners" ... they were meant to be tropes in every sense of the word. And then we snuck in some easter eggs. But largely, we were trying to create a completely original lore.

[JK] Well, I think we kind of pushed it with The Sims 2, to be honest, and I remember getting a little blow-back about Bunny Broke, for example. Bunny Broke was the original name for Brandi Broke. Not everyone found that funny, as I recall, and I can understand that. It must have been changed before we shipped.

We also almost shipped the first outwardly gay Sims in those neighborhoods, which was bold for EA back in 2004. My recollection was that we had set up the Dreamers to be gay (Dirk and Darren), but I'm looking back now and see that's not the case. So I'm either remembering incorrectly (probably) or something changed during development.

In general we just did things that we found funny and clever, and we just pulled from all the tropes of American life.

[JK] The alien abduction started in Sims 1, with a telescope object that was introduced in the "Livin' Large" expansion pack. That's when some of the wackier ideas got introduced into the Sims lore. That pack shipped just before I joined Maxis in 2001; when I got there, the team had shipped "House Party" and was underway on "Hot Date". So I couldn't tell you how the original idea came about, but The Sims had this 50's Americana vibe from the beginning, and UFOs kind of played right into that. So the alien abduction telescope was a no-brainer to bring back in Sims 2. The male pregnancy was a new twist on the Sims 1 telescope thing. It must have been that the new version (Sims 2) gave us the tech and flexibility to have male Sims become pregnant, so while this was turned "off" for the core game, we decided to take advantage of this and make a storyline out of it. I think this really grew out of the fact that we had aliens, and alien DNA, and so it was not complicated to pre-bake a baby that would come out as an alien when born. The idea of a bunch of guys living together, and then one gets abducted, impregnated, and then gives birth to an alien baby ... I mean, I think we just all thought that was hilarious, in a sit-com kind of way. Not sure there was much more to it than that. Everything usually came from the designers discovering ways to tweak and play with the tech, to get to funny outcomes.

[JK] Possibly we were just testing the functionality of the Wants/Fears and Memories systems throughout development, and some stuff got left over.

[JK] I can't remember, but that sounds like something we would have done! I'm pretty sure we laid the groundwork for more stories that we ended up delivering :) But The Sims 2 was a great foundation for a lot of continued lore that followed.

TMP/Magnus Kickstarter Update

Hi all! We just got a huuuuge Kickstarter update, and I thought I'd share the TL;DR that we (the mods of Statement Remains) put together to give people a hand navigating it!

TMP News - The digital premiere will be available on October 22nd for backers at the Archival Assistant level and above, and for Knight & Noble Patreons. - It will include a preview of The Magnus Protocol pilot episode and some exclusive bonus content. - The audio of the preview episode, without the extra content, will be released to KS backers at the Researchers level and above on 31st October.

This ask has been sitting in my inbox for a while, but now I finally come around to compile some more quotes from Richard's interviews (here is 'Part 1' so to speak).

Off to another tiny little round of stuff Richard says (some are interesting, others a little weird or downright unhinged):

I think the quote you mean is this one [from this audio interview]: "It's like, you know, it's like you know when you were young and could do coke for a fucking month and nothing, y'know? When you get old you need to recover from fucking one week." (and the interviewer is seemingly quite lost: "haha..true..👀")

Now, on to the Fellfrosch gem [interview]: Interviewer: Perhaps the disgust at the bitter aftertaste is really just a problem of overly careless personal hygiene? Richard:  "Tastes change too. Much of what seemed too bitter to us in childhood tastes good to us today. On the other hand, we usually find the sweets from the past too sweet. Every fur frog tastes different. Pure question of taste. There is no judgment in the text. We’re not saying it stinks."

His readiness to try out his talents with on-screen eroticism some more [interview]: "After I shot some erotic scenes for a video the other day I could also imagine doing an entire film in that direction. I was quite nervous in the beginning, but the longer we were shooting the more fun I had. Erotic, mind you, not pornographic."

in the same interview, he discloses the two main activities which bring him relaxation: "I love lying in bed, smoking and watching good movies more than anything. That is the only thing where I can really switch of other than sex. Lots of both, please. [laughs]"

And another quote from said interview regarding in which time period he would've liked to live and about his affinity to the middle ages (which for me as a history geek is so lovely to see that he is into that period as well): "I guess the sword and blade time as I always call it. Knights templar, 11th century. I can answer that this well, because I like to watch even stupid movies when they deal with that period. I just have a huge affinity to it somehow and would love to find out how things were going back then."

The way he pressurized/threatened (?) Jonathan Davis to sing a high note for the song "Silent so long" (man Richard must be such a nice fellow to work with 👀) [interview]: "But there was a high note in the chorus that Jonathan couldn't quite get right. So what to do? He said he couldn't sing that high. So I grabbed the receiver and whispered the following into his ear: "Watch out, Jonathan. This is the German way! Now take both your hands, grab your balls and squeeze until you get that damn sound."

Touring is hard, but partying is even harder [interview]: "Touring is not the problem, but partying is. If you went straight to the hotel after the show - no problem. But if you party until six in the morning, it's getting increasingly more difficult to get out of bed."

Being super vague in moments where we need more facts from him like in this interview, about the "Bück dich" performance of Till and Flake: "If Till had to do it to me… I would probably you know, like… uhm.. I'll do… something."

this whole feverdream here: an interview for the promotion of the first Emigrate album back in 2007, where Richard and his alter Ego "Mister Emigrate" answer the questions 'together'. It's has a Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde vibe to it but is kind of cute ✨

On a more serious note, here he talks about the effects of drugs on him: "I took a lot of cocaine. You reach dimensions that you could never reach otherwise. You can edit a bass drum for eight hours."

Out and About with the Bridgerton Cast in March

March was another busy month for the cast of Bridgerton, out and about during March. I may not have all work and appearances and if I have missed an appearance 

To begin, Jonathan Bailey and James Phoon were continuing in their respective Shakespeare productions on stage - Jonathan in Richard II and James in Much Ado About Nothing - both of whom have received great reviews. Richard ll is on at The Bridge Theatre until 10 May. Much Ado About Nothing is on at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane until 5 April.

For new appearances lets being with our most recent lead, Nicola Coughlan who recently attended the Netrogena influencer event 'A Night of Main Character Energy' as part of her partnership with Neutrogena.  In addition to attending at the Neutrogena influencer event, Nicola also attended the BFI Flare viewing of The Wedding Banquet along with Jessica Madsen, Jack Murphy, and Michelle Mao. The Wedding Banquet is a film directed by Andrew Ahn, who also directed two episodes of Bridgerton season 3 (episodes 3 and 4).

We saw some of the amazing supporting actors out and about in March. Everyone's favourite footman, Oli Higginson, performed in a workshop of Austenland the musical at The Savoy Theatre in London, Kathryn Drysdale attended the Smiley Charity Film Awards recently, Martins Imhangbe attended the European Premiere of the movei The Alto Knight and Sam Phillips began the month in a limited run of the play A Man For All Seasons at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury. 

Adjoa Andoh was in attendance at the press night for the play Dear England at the National Theatre during the month, and ended the month at the Dr Who season 2 premiere, for those that don't know she played Martha Jones's mother in Dr Who in the early years of the reboot.  Before Adjoa had a date with The Dr she had a date with Royalty (real Royalty that is), attending a reception to launch the Queen's Reading Room Medal hosted by Her Majesty Queen Camilla, joined by His Majesty King Charles III, at Clarence House.  

March was the month of Paris Fashion week and Bridgerton cast members attended some of the events. Victor Alli was the first to be seen at Paris Fashion Week when he attended the McQueen Autumn Winter 2025 show then season 1 lead Phoebe Dynevor attended the Louis Vuitton show and a day later we saw the season 2 and season 4 leads, Simone Ashley and Yerin Ha, attended the Chanel show. 

During March there were a number of film premieres that Bridgerton cast members were in attendance at, in addition to the premiere that Martins attended some of the Bridgerton cast had the own movies premiere. First up, Florence Hunt attended the premiere of her new movie Mix Tape at the SXSW festival, and she was also busy with associated press and promotion, however, the two biggest movie premieres for the Bridgerton cast in March was of course Picture This starring Simone Ashley and Black Bag with Rege Jean Page.

Picture This, starring and produced by Simone Ashley released this month on Prime Video at the beginning of the month, with Simone being highly visible throughout the month with the promotion for the movie.  In addition to the world premiere in London Simone also attended a special screening of the movie in New York followed by a surprise appearance at a Bollywood dance class in New York, as well as doing a number of interviews both online and on more established shows and podcasts. She also had a number of magazine interviews and photoshoots, including for Variety, and a cover for Defined and WhoWhatWear.  

As mentioned above, Simone wasn't the only one who had a big movie released in March as the movie Black Bag staring Rege Jean Page was also released. As with Simone, Rene was very present with promotion for his movie in interviews and on talk shows, as well as a cover for Icon  magazine. Before the release of Black Bag Rege kicked off his busy March at the Vanity Fair Oscars party.

Whew! That is alot, and as I said I am sure I have missed some appearances and work during March for our favourite Bridgerton cast members.

Really really long ass rant/ slight analysis? (I dunno what to call this) about Arkhamverse Scarecrow's progression, design, and Rocksteady's environmental storytelling:

I seriously love the world building/design/environmental storytelling around him so damn much- Especially with Arkham Shadows coming out (they better put some cool ass Scarecrow sequences in it since it's in VR), you get to see how he started out as just a guy in a stitched up gas mask. Professor Jonathan Crane in the fullest

Nothing over the top yet (might change, Shadows isn't out yet), until then we hit Arkham Asylum- This game shows us 2 Scarecrow costumes. The one presumably before his incarceration, and the one he wears while inside the asylum.

Inside the asylum, his costume is made of stitched up chunks of inmate uniforms, he's resourceful, he has a higher pitched, cackly voice at the time. He knows his way around the asylum and creates a makeshift secret lair within it. He also knows the doctors within, and uses his experience as a psychologist to trick them during the patient interviews. He even tricks the players when you first listen to the tapes, making you assume the person speaking is the interviewer, and not Scarecrow manipulating/ using the interview tapes as a means to experiment on the doctors. He's even hinted at to have possibly worked at, or with the asylum at some point before he became Scarecrow? (goon dialogue in Arkham Knight)

Favourite quote from the tapes: "I believe he is quite sane. Just evil"

His next change, like his Asylum design, was a result of him being forced to adapt. He gets mauled by Killer Croc in the sewers, barely surviving with his face ripped apart, leg broken, and presumably his throat torn.

Although not present in the second game, the environment of Arkham City shows that Scarecrow is planning on a comeback. There's his mask hidden away, a few goons of his scattered about, and cannisters of fear toxin that you can find in Riddler's rooms and Hush's lair. He's building up connections again, getting ready for the next game.

^^ Using his masterline figure bc it's the only brightened detailed full body image I could find of him (even his in game character trophy has the brightness turned all the way down sobs)

His Arkham Knight design reveals just how much damage Croc did to his body, and how much he's had to adapt. His left leg now has to wear a brace, giving himself a notable squeaking and clacking noise whenever he walks. His right eye is now glassy since he was blinded by the attack, and much of his nose had now been ripped off. So much of his mouth was ripped apart that he can't even close it anymore. Because of his adaptability however, he uses it all to his advantage. As hinted by conversations in game, Crane likely purposefully had his facial reconstruction surgery make himself look like his Asylum costume's mask-

The gas canisters attached to his face and the tubes attached to his throat is likely is what changed his voice into a low gravely tone. His skin now looks like ripped/stitched together cloth, with string tying his lower jaw to the top (don't ask me how he talks with no lips)- He now walks, talks, and acts menacingly, a far cry from his more cartoonish acts in the Asylum.

Yet despite that, he still draws back to his knowledge and familiarity from his Asylum days in Knight. Using his psychologist background, he appeals and teams with every supervillain he can in Gotham, just as the Joker had done back then. He builds his base at the Asylum, bringing Batman over in restraints and ending the game franchise where it had all started.

God I just- he's so cool, I love the world building in the Arkham games, I love the map designs, the character changes, etc. Rocksteady did such a good job at environmental storytelling

Even the foreshadowing bit with Scarecrow's speech on the blimp in Arkham Knight blew me away ksdkfd- "What can you see? A city engulfed in fear? Betrayed by those you trust the most? Your darkest secrets revealed?" He did all that, he tore Batman's legend apart, but even then it didn't break the bat :')

Ofc I still have my issues with Arkham Knight's story (WHY WAS THERE NO SCARECROW BOSS FIGHT...) but overall the series' progression based, environmental storytelling imo is phenomenal

Case Nᵒ0: Gotham's Sherlock Holmes.

Finally got courage to post it... Sorry if English is bad, not native language. Have a nice time reading!

synopsis: The brilliant mind of Edward Nygma requires action, but he does not intend to return to crime. Then a plan comes to his mind - to become a private detective. Edward is well aware that he may need help. Harvey Dent and Jonathan Crane agree to participate in the case, also unwilling to continue their criminal activities. However, the plan is not going according to plan at all...

Several months have passed since the Riddler's criminal genius was finally recognized as sane. The doctors, who had previously locked him in a cell, inevitably and independently realized their big mistake and admitted that the Riddler is a wonderful person all by themselves. They have never ever been bribed, and he have not been making fake documents, of course.

Despite the fact that Ed didn't need a job due to his fortune he was dying from boredom. He may have left most of his obsessive "dragging Batman into a game" thoughts behind, but his brain still required a challenge. If he doesn't find a way to entertain his mind, he might snap and start throwing riddles around the city again.

However, his genius had not faded. Not at all. And one day, during regular going through his extensive library, he came across a book of Sherlock Holmes. Eureka! This was what he needed! A private detective was perfect for new job! After all, Edward was an ex-cop, ex-cop undoubtedly superior to the Dark Knight in field of deduction and many others.

Therefore Nygma decided to become Gotham's own Sherlock Holmes. Edward figured out what he would need to do to achieve this goal. He came up with three simple steps to begin career of the city's most brilliant detective. The first step was to "prepare the necessary documents", the second was to find a case, and the third was to solve it successfully, getting interviewed as nice promotion and gaining more cases. And then, everything would fall into right place. Starting is always the hardest part, isn't it?

Paperwork...  No, Nygma never liked to do this, which meant he needs some good lawyer, notary, or at least someone who knows enough about it... Precisely! What better lawyer could be than former District Attorney Harvey Dent?  He heard Harvey is "retired". Ed thought he'd probably bored out of his mind, too.  Moreover, Dent is physically much more prepared. And extra guns never hurt.

Edward immediately picked up his phone and found Two-Face's number in contacts. He called him and invited for a drink at their favorite bar. Fortunately, Dent accepted the invitation.

Half an hour later, Nygma entered the bar where Harvey was waiting for him. He was holding some papers with schemes and explanations. It seemed like he had drawn the whole diagram by hand, with every single detail painted.

Harvey rolled his eyes and chuckled as he asked: "I thought you invited me here to chat, not to lecture me about your new "genius" plan. To be honest, Ed, I've had enough of it and so have you."

"You don't understand, Harv! It's a win-win option. This time I'm sure on one hundred percent, I did the research and, believe me, I thought it all out. The usual. Yet, you didn't even try to hear me! When some stupid coin offers - you agree and go forward it, but as old friend ask you for help, you immediately "quit". And! AND, it's not about crime! The plan is legal, for note. Believe me, you'll regret your refusal if you won't listen to me. Therefore, let me give you a little tip - listen, or rather write it down. Maybe not only half of your brain will start working! Harv, please, don't be an idiot for the next ten minutes and let me explain. I quitted crime, agree, BUT I'm not going to get rid of my mind in order to meet the standards of society!" Edward quickly interrupted Harvey, not letting him get a word in until he finished his tirade by asking," Which one of us is the brain, after all, me or you?"

Harv frowned, not appreciating the "hints" about his past decisions. He took a deep breath, counted to ten and exhaled. Edward had a point, it was worth listening politely, Dent can refuse any time later.

" Well, let's imagine I believe you," he finally said, adding, "Go on, smart-ass."

"Harvey, what do you think about private detectives?" - Edward's smile returned as if he didn't throw a tantrum five seconds ago.

"Seriously, detective? What's the riddle here, Holmes?"

"Right, like Holmes."

"You're kidding, Ed..."

"Please, remember, I'm not the one to joke about important things. What I said doesn't sound a joke, does it? Sooooo," - Nygma wanted to push his friend to the right conclusion.

"It means you being honest. Let's assume that's not some kind of trick. Besides, your "honesty mania", or whatever it's called..." Harvey paused for a moment, trying to recall the exact word, but alas, no other idea came to mind. "Forget it. How does this relate to me?"

"That's a great question, Harv! Good job! I told you the brain would start working. Fpr why I'm here - I need your expertise. You know the law inside and out, being an expert in document management and stuff. You're the real professional, aren't you? You know how to do good work and I need someone I can trust without fear of back-stabbing," Edward seemed almost sincere for a moment, however he quickly hid behind his sarcastic mask and strange sense of humor. " Harv, I'm going to die of boredom or kill someone! Think about it. You wake up in a trap, failing to answer my riddle and getting HEAD OFF! Not that you use it anyway..."

"Come on, Ed. I was just asking." Former DA sighs, thinking about how it could be beneficial for him, after all he wants to help people again. "Ah, screw it! Will do! I agree 50%. Is that a deal, partner?"

"DEAL! It's a deal!" Edward replied, feeling happy about the success awaiting him at the next step. Of course, success always awaited him, because the unrivaled genius of E. Nygma had never let him down. It was rare to see the Riddler in such good spirits, especially after his career ended. Well, there he was, walking down the street with a happy smile on his face. A suspiciously happy smile...

"You have no idea what a great decision you made, Harvey!" He exclaimed as they walked towards the bus stop, where they would split up.

Harvey smiled, but said nothing. He was still unsure of why Nygma was doing this. It's unlikely that he was doing it out of kindness. Moreover, it was also unlikely that Ed had called him only for the sake of working with papers. Harvey knew it was too soon to hide his colt. "I should keep an eye on him," Harvey thought, waving goodbye as he disappeared into the bus. "I promise you, Gilda, I will not let him hurt anyone else. Not after what happened... not ever".

First step was made. Gotham's own Sherlock Holmes now planning brilliantly solve the case, case waiting for him to be found. No one knew that the case would find them on its own.

to elaborate on the title before i start yapping at maximum capacity, this is my take on what signs Mercury feels most comfy in vs the signs it struggles/is more Prone to struggling in- also my take on its rulership 🙏🙏

ok so everyone knows Mercury as the ruler of Gemini and Virgo, and a lot of people like to say that Mercury is exalted in Virgo but i have never believed that personally-

so in my opinion, Mercury rules Gemini, and Virgo is just kind of... elsewhere... idk where virgo goes tbh idk give it to chiron or sumn- BUT-

Mercury rules Gemini, and is exalted in Aquarius-

most people have heard that!! but what if i told u it's also exalted in Libra and therefore feels comfy in all air signs.

i say Libra because most really good interviewers have Mercury in Libra, and even Noah Sebastian from Bad Omens has his Mercury in Libra in a Pisces degree (makes total sense if u ask me).

Mercury in Libra in my experience are people who are MASTERS of talking to people from all different walks of life, they are so respectful and deliberate in how they word things and will more often than not correct themselves if they even say a wrong word, expressing a strong sense of respect for whatever they're talking about.

in a similar vein, Mercury in Capricorn ppl are VERY respectful and they will be very deliberate with the words they say even if it doesn't necessarily come off that way because they talk very fast in comparison. their brains are usually running at like 70 billion mph so they can get a little frazzled and trip up on their words a lot easier than Libra Mercuries but they still do their best to be respectful, and their thirst for knowledge is intense to say the least. (jonathan davis, awsten knight and bill wurtz all have Mercury in Capricorn)

so what are my opinions on the signs Mercury is most comfy in? here lemme do a table for u:

so ull notice that mercury is comfortable in Most signs, and that's bc it's a very easy to get along with planet tbh- it could be comfy even in the ones i said it wouldn't be as long as it has good aspects, and it can be uncomfy in any of the signs i said it would be comfy in if it's afflicted-

so let me elaborate on mercury in Sagittarius because i know it might be confusing for a lot of ppl since we always hear mercury in sagittarius is in its detriment-

Ok so i need to make a post abt my take on Jupiter because it changed DRASTICALLY but to sum it up real quick (and unfortunately leave out a lot of detail bc i suck at summaries), Jupiter is the divine scholar and more of the messenger than Mercury is-

Jupiter, and therefore Sagittarius, are all about infinite learning-

most people say Aries is the fool card in tarot, but I'm so sure that it's Sagittarius.

the sign you have Jupiter in or the aspects you have to Jupiter can give you clues on what you LOVE learning about- Jupiter in Gemini would basically be everything, and Jupiter in Scorpio, in my personal experience, is a love for learning abt the taboo and what is often swept under the rug- the darker parts in life.

similarly, whatever placements you have in Sagittarius can tell you kinda the same thing- ill have to elaborate more on this later BUT

bc of this, Mercury in Sagittarius is very comfortable because it's combining the need for knowledge of two planets into one. Mercury in Sagittarius ppl could be naturally curious about everything and especially what everything means. they love the bigger picture and they wanna know WHY everything is and how it got to be.

my reasoning for Mercury being comfortable in most signs is also elemental to a degree- mercury fucking loves going everywhere and doing everything and learning everything, so it feels most comfortable in elements that are flowy in a way (air, water and fire).

putting mercury in an earth sign is basically giving it claustrophobia, with the exception of Capricorn because Saturn totally gets little baby mercury's desire for knowledge- imagine Mercury and Saturn as like- mercury is the enthusiastic little baby and Saturn is the surprisingly gentle father 😭💞

Mercury in Capricorn has a distinct fire undertone to it as well, because Capricorn is the cardinal earth sign (fire-coded earth). this combined with Saturn's drive for knowledge as well makes for a surprisingly good mercury placement- (it's similar to how mars is exalted in capricorn, the saturn influence gives mars/mercury the direction, but doesn't strip it of its energy)

Mercury in Virgo or Taurus though is much more earthy, especially Taurus- Mercury wants to go everywhere and learn everything and Taurus doesn't care all that much, so Mercury's kinda stuck 💔

this being said!

Mercury in Scorpio or Cancer is actually not all bad- Mercury and Pluto's relationship is a little less understanding than Mercury and Saturn's relationship, but Pluto can get behind Mercury's desire for knowledge regardless, so they compromise and you have someone who can psychoanalyze almost anyone, and pick apart bigger things without losing sight of the whole picture.

Mercury in Cancer, tying back to my incredibly different interpretation of Cancer, isn't necessarily someone whose thinking is clouded by their emotions- (if afflicted though, this Can be the case)

Cancer, ruled by Neptune (as per my post abt my take on Neptune), similar to Scorpio, can get behind Mercury's love of learning- But Cancer, being a cardinal sign (fire-coded water) has the same passion that Mercury does, and being water, can go with a much similar flow that Mercury wants, seen as it rules Gemini, a very flowy air sign.

being a cancer rising with my mercury in my 11th/12th house in 1° (aries) gemini and sextiling my saturn, you can imagine how insane i am- once i find something to really fixate on i do not stop until I've learned as close to everything as I can get 💔

mercury is my absolute favorite planet in astrology, and I've always loved it in general so i could yap abt it for eons and probably not get tired 💔💔

that little planet is the reason my brain is hardwired the way it is and i love it so much despite the fact that it's Probably the reason for my adhd but whatever i can deal 😮‍💨

connorleon is also kinda difficult bc every two weeks they'll do a presser and say words types of words normally reserved for a proposal about each other but maybe the way that after every win of last season's playoffs connor tucked his head into leons neck And then in wedding video thing was found doing the exact same thing w lauren. Normal about this. also certainly bc i reblogged it the other day but that one moment from leons first asg where connor kinda jokingly asks who do you think is gonna win :) and leon very seriously says You, always. Okay buddy. honorable ride or die mention. honorable mention to when the leon extention dropped everyone breathed a second sigh of relief because it means that connor's also going to stay on for the rest of time like noone really believed it when they both were like we want to win in edmonton and with each other until leon signed bc of course that means connor will sign Like what exactly do you mean its more believable that they want to play with eachother than they want to stay on the only team theyve ever known
