First date and then some

Jordy was standing in front of her bathroom mirror pinning her hair back with the help of Eve, who helped with the curling portion…..not that Jordy’s hair needed it as her hair was already wavy

”and that should do it” Eve stated standing back to admire her work. Now Jordy had to adjust her eyes for a second, she was used to seeing herself in her work overalls and Oil covering her hands ,

dirt on her face and dark hair in a ponytail or a low bun. The woman she was looking at was not even close to that Jordy, she had clean skin ,

nails painted red, a red dress that fitted her athletic figure well and makeup that Jordy had sorta done herself with Eve doing some of it as well

“ Danny is gonna be even more speechless when he sees you tonight!” Eve gushed setting her brush down, not missing the way Jordy blushed

“can I stand up? This stool is killing my legs” Jordy shifted in her seat not even attempting to cover her cheeks while Eve rolled her eyes playfully

“yes Jordy, you can stand”

at this Jordy hops off the stool stretching her limbs “I don’t understand how any one can sit like that for so long”

Jordy groaned “well the rest of the girls aren’t 5”11 or as stubborn as a mule”

Eve teased while putting her stuff into a separate cabinet opposite Jordy’s, while Jordy looked for a pair of earrings to put on

Danny’s pov

All sorts of thoughts were running through his head, like what if he messed up something or if Jordy didn’t like the dinner spot he picked Etc etc.

To help his friend and keep him from panicking even more, Billy had picked an outfit out for him, one he knew Jordy would like. And Rafe got the wild flowers

Billy had pieced together a good outfit that wasn’t his military dress uniform for Danny. He was now dressed in a green and white hibiscus print button up a white t-shirt underneath,

brown pants and a more casual pair of leather shoes . He also put his dog tags under the white shirt, shivering when the cool metal hit his skin

it took Rafe, Billy and Goose at least thirty minutes to calm him down while Billy styled his hair for him

”Danny, she really likes you. And I mean really likes you, she has this glint in her eye that only appears when your around”

Billy states going back to combing earning a nod of agreement from Rafe and a chuckle from Goose.

Billy’s comment had eased Danny’s nerves some and before he knew it Rafe was patting him on the shoulder while the others were hooting

and some were wolf whistling from their bunks as Danny made his way to the door, bouquet of wild flowers in his hand, car keys in the other.

The drive to Jordy’s place was a blur, with the adrenaline flowing through his body,

Danny sat outside the blue two storie house where he could hear the sound of the birds chirping and the Hawaiian wind blowing softly.

Calming his nerves as her got out of the car and made his way up the stone path and to the front door, flowers in hand

Jordy’s pov

Jordy was fidgeting with her rings , a nervous habit she picked up in the Air Force “how do I look? It’s not to much is it?”

Eve rolled her eyes at Jordy “Jordy dear, stop fidgeting so much. You’ll be fine” but before Jordy could answer there was a knock at the door causing Jordy to stand

“that’s your fly boy ”Eve announced as she left the room. Jordy’s previous panic forgotten as she shakily walked to the door wiping her palms on her dress before she opens the door

There standing before her is Danny, dressed in a green and white print hibiscus print shirt, brown pants and a shine pair of leather shoes ,

hair semi styled with a handful of wild flowers”Jor-Jordy Y-yo-u look beautiful” Danny stutters turning bright red when he catches Jordy’s eyes on him

”Thank you Danny, you look bea-handsome! I ment handsome” Jordy stumbled to correct herself, feeling her face heat up.

To her relief Danny laughed”looks like I’m not the only one who’s nervous” Jordy laughed as well , her nerves at ease.

Jordy and Danny sat in a comfortable silence in the car ride. Danny would occasionally look over at her a small smile would grace his face making him even more handsome then before. The drive was quick, the pair passed through neighborhoods and into a busy part of town teaming with navy and Air Force personnel on dates with their girls or wives.

3rd person pov(a little while later)

Jordy sat in awe of the sight before her, the spot Danny drought her to was right on the beach, palm trees surrounding the open bar string light hanging from bamboo branches and dried grass decorated the weaved siding that surrounded the dance floor.

The place was filled with people talking, laughing and dancing to music”I hope you like to dance” Danny mused from next to Jordy who looked at him with hazel eyes dancing with excitement”I do love to go dancing”

Jordy admitted “after you darling” Danny offers his arm which Jordy takes as they made their way to the steps, walking up the old wooden stairs to the dance floor/restaurant area where Danny had led her to a table that was as far away from the other people as possible

”hello, my name is Dotte I’ll be your server tonight. What can I get you two to eat?”A petit blonde woman in a colorful Hawaiian shirt and a neat black skirt asked “U-m could I get a cheeseburger with a beer?”

Danny asked and the waitress turns to Jordy “could I also get a cheeseburger with a side of fries, and a cherry coke?” Jordy asked “I’ll get that started for you to” the waitress said before walking of to tend to another table

“this is a nice spot, how’d you find it?” Jordy inquired “oh Rafe and Billy brought me on one of their trips and we would up here” He answered slowly becoming more at ease “they wound up being to drunk to stand up straight so me’n Gooz got them back to the Houseing before they could make even bigger fools of them selves”

Danny chuckled at the memory while Jordy laughed covering her mouth with her hand “they had the worst headaches when they woke up” Danny said causing Jordy to laugh harder”What is your favorite thing about being deployed here?” Danny asked as Jordy thought for a minute “hard to say there’s so much, I’d say the view of the sunset, when the sun is at that perfect angle over the water and it glimmers”

Jordy says her hazel eyes shining “Have you ever seen the sun set from the air?”he asked as the waitress brings over their drinks, muttering a thank you Jordy took a sip of her coke before answering ”I have been up in the planes to test them but have never seen the sunset from up there”

Danny looked dumbfounded for a moment but then got the idea that he would show her Pearl Harbor from the air at sunset”Maybe I can show you sometime?” Danny suddenly said before he could stop himself”I-I me-mean o-o-only if-if you want” Danny stuttered blushing and feeling embarrassed ”I would love to see the sunset from a pilots view”

Jordy laughed making Danny smile. For the rest of the time the two laughed and told stories as they ate their food before jordy wanted to dance, which happened to be a slow one and a favorite of hers

The song started and four couples walked to the dance floor “may I have this dance?” Danny whispers standing in front of Jordy who nodded taking his offered hand in hers. Danny lead her to the floor as the couples had started to slow dance,

Danny placed his hands on Jordy’s waist and she put her arms on his shoulders and they began to move toward the middle of the floor while over couples danced around them.

Danny and Jordy continue to look at each other , Danny had a heart melting smile on his handsome face and Jordy had a similar smile on her beautiful one. The two continued to dance for a while as the song began to slow down signaling the beginning of a song starting. The rest of the night went exactly like that the two Would dance and talk to each other or just gaze into each others eyes.

The night ended with Danny driving Jordy home, her wearing his Bomber jacket as it got cold. The two walked up to Jordy’s front door saying good night after saying they wanted to do it again”Danny wait” Jordy called as Danny turns around, she walked up to him heals clicking on the pavement and gave him a kiss on the lips, supprising the man before he kissed her back hand landing on her hips while hers were on his chest. The two pulled away faces flushed”s-So I-i ta-take it-it we-we’ll be doing this again?” His accented voice stutters “I-I would like that” Jordy confirms equally as flustered “Good night,Jordy” Danny called as he walks to his car “Good night, fly boy” Jordy called back watching as he drove off into the night before she walked into her house.

Super Rugby Pacific - Hurricanes 38-15 Fijian Drua at Suva's ANZ Stadium

The Wellington-based Hurricanes defeated the Fijian Drua 38–15 in Super Rugby Pacific on Friday, extending their winning streak to eight games and snapping the Drua’s home unbeaten streak. The Hurricanes overcame a subpar second half in which they were given three yellow cards.

The top-ranked Hurricanes had a strong first half, scoring four tries to take a 28-7 lead at halftime.

However, they lost the game in the second half, playing with just 13 players for about ten minutes after Isaia Walker-Leawere and DuPlessis Kirifi were sin-binned in the 64th and 65th minutes. A yellow card was also given to replacement prop Caleb Delany two minutes prior to fulltime.

NUMIA GETS OVER!!! O’Reilly feeds again and finds Walker-Leawere in the middle. They set the maul with O’Reilly holding it in the back. They go on the march and Numia rips it away from him as they peel to the left. The maul goes down just shy of the line but Numia stays on his feet and barges over from close range.

O’Reilly feeds the lineout and the Drua are pinged for playing the man in the air. Barrett plugs the corner for a 5m lineout for the Canes.

Valentini puts it out on the halfway and the Drua win another lineout. Shields gets over the ensuing ruck however and earns his side the penalty. Barrett puts the ball out on the 22m as the Hurricanes look to play on after the hooter.

Delany is the recipient of the teams third yellow for too many penalties at the breakdown

The Drua win the lineout and the Drua go to the midfield again. Penalty again for the Drua for not rolling away.

Judd feeds the scrum and Naholo hammers it downfield and rolls it into touch just shy of the Drua 22m.

Valentini peels off 45m from halfway to put the lineout 5m from the line. Togiatama finds his target and they set the maul. It looks sloppy for the Drua and Delany is able to get through the middle and disrupt the play. It doesn’t come out of there so the Hurricanes will have the scrum feed on their 5m line.

Just the beginning

I do not own any characters except Jordy Lost-sky and Eve Henson, this is also purely self endulgent and is probably not that good, but here you go. This is also my first attempt at a short story, my apologies if I missed something

Danny continued to stare at Jordy who was talking to one of the other pilots about repairs that needed to be made to his plane

, all the while Rafe was talking to him about god knows what. Danny was brought out of his day dream by Rafe placing his hand on his shoulder

“hmm? What?” Danny questioned, Rafe gave him a knowing look

“ Man you wanna talk to her go up and talk to her, she’s not gunna bite your head off” Danny nervously scratch’s the back of his neck a dark red blush slowly creeping onto his face

“ I really like her, but I don’t think she’s into quite guys like me”

he mumbles as Rafe laughs at his best friend “she’s been stealing glances at you every once in a while , hell she even took extra care when she worked on your plane”

Danny’s eyebrows disappeared beneath his dark hair “sh-she w-what?” Danny managed to get out “Danny you managed to catch the attention of Jordy Lost-sky. The hottest girl stationed here in Pearl Harbor”

Rafe rambled as they made their way across the tarmac to the hanger bay where they could see Jordy talking to what looked like one of the newer pilots.

this pilot was tall had broad shoulders kinda muscular arms dark blonde hair that was spiked “ahhh i think i know what the problem is, others said they had the same issue “

Jordy continued while the pilot just nodded his head looking at the ground nervously “You fly boys gotta stop putting so much stress on the propellers the only thing it’s doing is running it ragged” Jordy says

“O-oh s-sorry ma’am we were just transporting suppli-“ he was cut off by Danny and Rafe” Hey Jordy” Rafe said with Danny mumbling a quick hi ,avoiding her eyes and blushing like no tomorrow

“Hey boys, I’ll get to ya’ inna minute “ Jordy said not taking her eyes off the plane “I’ll get my tools and such from the hanger bay later, and try not to bring so much on the planes”

“Yes ma’am sorry ma’am” replied the pilot nervously looking almost as flustered as Danny felt if not more “Now how can I help my two favorite fly boys?”

Jordy asked a smile made its way on to her beautiful face as she brushed a strand of her dark brown hair out of her hazel colored eyes

“Ah-well Jordy, Danny here has this girl that he likes, but isn’t quite sure how to tell her, how would you wanna be told something like that”

Rafe explained in a tone that made Jordy’s smile fall a bit but brushed it off , but not before she saw Danny’s eyes widen from behind Rafe, his already flushed face turning an even brighter red”

Umm, well I would get her a card, like a hand written one, maybe chocolate, and-Oh! A stuffed animal” Jordy exclaims,hazel eyes brighter then before

“W-hat kind of stuffed ani-animal”Danny managed to say “A bear usually, but if it were me , a wolf” Danny smiles a bit making Jordy’s heart beat faster then before”Thank you Jordy”

Rafe Said nudging Danny who muttered a quiet thank you” Your welcome boys, and I hope you get the girl Danny” Jordy smiled as the boys walked away from her, her smile disappearing and a frown taking it place, Jordy watching as the boys walked away talking Rafes hand on Danny’s shoulder

”That was almost to painful to watch” came the voice of Eve Henson a nurse Lt on base. Jordy rolled her eyes at the platinum blonde, Eve had lightly tanned skin , she had a blue dress on and a string of pearls

Wavy hair which she wore pinned back when she worked , she had full lips which were complemented with red lipstick and the rest of her makeup simple but was enough to bring out her forest green eyes

“Oh please like I don’t see you pinning after that pilot Billy” Jordy teased and Eve turns bright red “Oh shut up Jordy Lost-sky , you were just making heart eyes at Danny Walker” Now that Jordy couldn’t deny , she did indeed have a crush on Danny Walker

Jordy and Eve talked while Jordy worked on a plane engine, they talked about what had gone on during the week, to which Jordy wasn’t surprised to hear that there was talk of needing pilots over seas for the war effort. Eve also talked about her dates with her fly boy Billy.

Which made Jordy think of Danny and his adorable chocolate brown eyes and how he would nervously look around when he looked at her.

“Who do you think Rafe was talking about when he said Danny had a girl he wanted to ask out?” Jordy asked interpreting Eve “Jordy , silly he’s talking about you, he wants to ask you out” Jordy just looks at Eve with wide eyes

“Oh come on, you can’t tell me you’ve never seen him look at you with that love struck look in his eyes?” “I have , I guess I didn’t think he was looking at me” “Jordy, dear everyone can tell you two like each other”

Eve points out as two figures make their way over too where the two women stand, one had a bag in one hand and a bouquet of wild flowers in the other. Eves eyes widen “Jordy , it’s Danny turn around “ Jordy’s hazel eyes get bigger and panicked as an equally nervous Danny approaches
