"Surely, you aren't going to suggest I was responsible for poisoning her father, too?"
Tumblr media
I just noticed the way he is holding the card makes it look like he's flipping you off, which was not my intention, but he might as well have been doing that during these testimonies 💀

one thing i hate is societys tendency now to explain away all evil as mental illness. if a man murders and rapes 13 women, hes mentally ill. if a woman neglects her baby to death then dumps its body in the woods to decompose, shes mentally ill. this man who overpowers poor people in his own neighborhood with a gun and takes the money they need for himself, hes mentally ill. this woman who fakes having cancer for sympathy and spends peoples donations on medical equipment to maintain the lie, shes mentally ill. this man who beats his wife bloody in front of their children, hes mentally ill. this man who raises dogs for fighting in a basement and starves them to frenzy, hes mentally ill. this murderer, this rapist, this child-killer, this violent criminal, this serial liar, this woman-beater, this animal abuser, dont you understand???? theyre mentally ill!!!
NO. MENTAL ILLNESS IS NOT THE CAUSE FOR ALL EVIL ACTIONS. just because someone does something evil does NOT mean that they are mentally ill. this is such a cop out. this is such a disservice to people who are actually mentally ill. this is such a weak, cowardly explanation for the heinous actions that human beings take. it is an explanation borne of an amoral society who would prefer to pathologize everything, either out of hubris or impatience or for money, and who no longer recognizes or cares about the real matter of good vs evil.
sexual depravity, violence, duplicity, greed, amorality, desire for overweening power, manipulativeness, callous neglect, cruelty, a willingness or enjoyment of the dehumanization of another human being -- the possession of these qualities is not indicative of or explicable by mere mental illness. the truth is -- and this truth is unpleasant, because it means we must walk the earth among them -- SOME PEOPLE ARE JUST FUCKING EVIL. we share streets with them, buses, apartment buildings, elevators. sometimes you can look at someones face and see the evil there. but often you cannot, and if they see an opportunity these evil people will do their best to teach you what they are. they are humans like us, but they are monsters. whether they were not before, they are now. it doesnt matter what caused them to become monsters. who cares about someones childhood when they strangle a teenage girl and leave her in a field with her underwear down around her ankles. who cares about someones impoverished circumstances when they beat an old man to death for some pocket change. i dont. i WONT. i will never again be moved to sympathy for an evil person. it is foolishness. what a waste of my time and my heart.
what else i wont do is bear the brunt of this tendency to explain away the actions of these monsters as 'mental illness'. i am a person living with what they call severe mental illness. i have schizophrenia. for other people like me who live with severe mental illness, dont you think it is unfair that what defines our world -- that limits our lives, our capacity, that causes us to be watched over and punished and treated like children, that drives our institutionalization and medical abuse, that affects our relationships and our self-worth, our ability to wash, to eat, to dress, to be left alone, to go outside, that has killed for us some parts of our futures that we had hoped we might enjoy -- is the CONSTANT EXCUSE used by the a cynical, ineffectual and immoral judicial system, healthcare system, and media industry? arent you fucking tired? im fucking tired.
we are NOT them. they are NOT us. we are sick -- something that bothers me and embarrasses me when people say it to me, but they say its not our fault. these people are NOT sick. they are EVIL. their actions are not explicable by mental illness.
does an average mentally ill poor person stalk the streets at night with a gun and victimize people because they cant pay their bills, or does an evil man do it out of greed for objects and to take pleasure in the power? does an average mentally ill mother purposefully deprive her child of food and love in favor of a boyfriend? does she call her child a slut when he rapes her? or does an evil woman regard her daughter as a nothing, a nonhuman, and herself and her boyfriend as the only real people? does an average mentally ill man systematically follow women and girls down the road, pull them into his car, rape and kill them, or does an evil man do it because he enjoys it? i think we can easily deduce the answer. lets not blame this on mental illness. lets call it what it is, which is undeniable evil, right in front of us plain, standing there, regarding us, and suspecting that we will allow it to take advantage of our reluctance to call it by its name.
i am a person who believes in a loving god who is father to all of us. i believe in the afterlife we will be reunited. but god must sometimes also be a god of wrath. and some actions are irredeemable. if you do not believe in god that is ok, please dont discount what i am saying just because i do. just dont make excuses for evil people. dont put the burden of their existence or their crimes on the truly mentally ill. dont let your heart feel for them. other people and animals deserve your big heart. sometimes the fact is that a person can do a thing that is so evil and so irredeemable that they forfeit their right to humanity. i am aware that humans can be monsters. but once they have done such a thing, it is my right not to regard them anymore as human. i am not denying our species insane, vast capacity for evil. i am simply saying that it no longer matters to me the why, or the how, or the who hurt you poor baby. i do not care what happens to them except to be made certain that they suffer. you cannot, nor should you, rehabilitate a murderer or a rapist. let them rot. let them die. who fucking cares.
in the other place these people will not be there. god made them, but he will turn them away in shame. they dont get to be with us. not there. we have to share the earth right now. we will not be forced to share paradise. they will be shunned by god, just as the right thing for humanity to do is shun them here on earth.
i cast them out from me. i reject this senseless medicalization. we are not the same.
im sorry this is so fucking long but im SO FUCKING DONE jesus christ

Saw a post about the sex offender list that kept repeating, "police love to get minorities for X crime" and I realized, both people who supposedly oppose the system and the system itself very intentionally frame police and police discretion as a more powerful and unilateral part of the system that it actually is, while ignoring or obscuring the rest of the system.
The DA's office decides what cases to drop and what to move forward with, and what punishments to request. The judges decide to throw out cases or let them continue, and then use judicial discretion in handing down sentences. And so on, I am not a legal expert yet, but there's a whole chain of people more powerful than some beat cop who chose to pursue or drop cases.
This all seems very convenient for the DA, as nobody is rioting to abolish or defund their office.

Oh the fucking irony, a man who gets tax breaks and federal contracts whining about others doing the same. Mind the stocks of his companies jumped in price when DOGE was announced, he directly benefits from being in governmen. Boycott any and all Elon owned products and services, don't give him a single cent while he's stealing your tax dollars.

Alito Set to Destroy Republicans’ Trump-Packed Supreme Court Dreams
Tumblr media
Justice Samuel Alito has slammed the door on overeager Republicans’ hopes for a Trump-packed Supreme Court.
With Republicans inching toward trifecta control of the House, Senate, and White House after their sweeping victory last week, the party has now turned its attention to the nation’s highest court. Republicans will have at least two years of uninhibited ability to mold the Supreme Court in their image, especially if conservative Justices Clarence Thomas and Alito—76 and 74, respectively—get the message and step down.
But Alito quickly shut down rumors of his retirement.
“Despite what some people may think, this is a man who has never thought about this job from a political perspective,” a friend of Alito told The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday. “The idea that he’s going to retire for political considerations is not consistent with who he is.”
Alito was appointed by President George W. Bush in 2006 and has been a bastion of conservative originalism ever since. He penned the opinion on the devastating overturning of Roe v. Wade, something that was made possible in part thanks to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s passing away in 2020, after stubbornly refusing calls to step down during President Barack Obama’s term—giving President Donald Trump the conservative majority needed to overturn the crucial reproductive rights law.
Liberal Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, 70, has also faced calls for her to step down, but she has no plans to retire either.

FBI Director Kash Patel: “I am calling for the subpoenas to be issued to Judge Merchan daughter’s company, who made $15 + million from the illicit information pouring out of her father’s court room.”
"I want to know the bank records, because money doesn't lie. I want to know how deep it is and how much of it went to the family" 🤔

Tyrion in his trial is not allowed to cross examine Cersei’s witnesses was that typical in medieval trials?
That was not unusual, no.
Indeed, William Garrow, a criminal defense barrister in the late 18th century was a major reformer in the adverserial legal system by innovating the practice of cross-examination as opposed to merely producing defense witnesses.
The BBC actually did a very good historical courtroom drama series based on his life's work:

When the Aztec judicial system was punishing rich people more severely than poor people for their crimes because rich people were supposed to be role models and they had no excuse to act like that, they knew what was up.
