I feel like now would be a good time to remind everyone that it is fully legal in America for the cops to lie to you and gaslight you in interrogation.
If they’ve decided you’re guilty and your lawyer hasn’t gotten there yet, they can and will say anything to make you confess and it won’t matter to them if the confession is true. Keep that in mind with any information that comes out in the next couple days. I’m not saying I don’t believe this is the guy. He very well could be. For now I’m neutral on the subject.
But I am saying it’s awfully convenient they found him with a butt load of evidence just on his person after a week of him evading them like a pro. And that the NYPD knows everyone thinks they’re chumps and they’re probably real desperate right now to look even halfway competent.

This measure, if passed in Senate, would make it illegal for the US State Department to cite genocide statistics.
In other words, illegal to do its job.

I used to really not like Kamala Harris, like actually hate her. Literally yesterday I found out my entire opinion was based on a misrepresentation of the truth.
It feels terrible knowing that I made a hasty judgment of someone that turned out to be completely wrong. Be careful what you read, always be critical of how facts are presented to you, and don't be afraid to admit when you're wrong.

Harvard rejects Trump demands, gets hit by $2.3 billion funding freeze
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/harvard-will-fight-trump-administration-demands-over-funding-2025-04-14/
A university with a spine! Huzzah!
(This is genuine insanity. Why is Trump fighting HARVARD? But then why shouldn't he? Education is a threat, after all.)
In summary:
White House made certain demands to Columbia. Columbia agreed, traded integrity, got no funds back, and are presently being boycotted by the other Ivy Leagues.
White House made even harsher demands to Harvard. Harvard disagreed, and got hit by a $2.3 BILLION research fund freezing.
The demands include a practically semi-annual review of hiring, teaching, admissions and student life across the university by a political appointee mostly centred around limiting international students + ZERO GUARANTEE OF FUNDS for compliance.
Authoritarian regime much?
Anyway, shouldn't have an immediate effect on Harvard. If there's a Uni with the endowment to persevere through the rest of this administration, it's them; they're filthy rich.
But it's them now. Trump has stated bluntly that there are many other universities to come, some of whom don't have billion-dollar cushions. Things like this demand collective resistance. MIT has already joined Harvard. Thus is where university coalitions, accreditation boards, alumni networks, researchers and students need to stand together.
Academic freedom can only survive if defended.
If things don't change there's bound to be a massive brain drain. All the US is doing is just digging its own grave deeper and deeper.

From a Campaign Perspective: Why Endorsing Kamala Harris Makes the Most Sense
Yay, Biden stepped back! (if this is how you found out and not the supernatural alert system meme... oops)
Let's talk about why Kamala Harris makes the most sense even if she, like Biden, is not one of our first choices (though she's higher on my list, certainly)
(My credentials: Former campaign worker, poli sci degree, etc)
It'd be really fucked up for him to step back and cause a PR disaster for the Dems. Kamala Harris has been at his side this whole time. Stepping over her, a woman of color who has already been doing much of the work, would cause a public relations crisis.
Kamala Harris has name recognition. We know who she is, and we at least vaguely know what she stands for. Name recognition is hugely important in an election and we do not have enough time to build it right now. This is not the time to pick someone that we've never heard of before or even vaguely never heard of.
She's run a campaign before. She knows how to do this, she has a platform that she can modify a little as needed and be ready to go over night. She has the donors from last time and everything.
She's already got a campaign schedule for Biden, she can modify that easily to suit her own needs and has more freedom to campaign than the current president because she's *not* the current president, she doesn't have COVID right now, and she's not older than dirt.
She is perfectly capable of making Trump look like a fucking idiot on stage. The highlight reel is gonna look so much better next time, hopefully.
Personal speculation: I think people are far less likely to sit it out with her name at the top of the ticket.
So what should you be doing right now?
Let's start simple. Understand that Biden did what many of us wanted right here. He stepped away from the campaign he was running and handed it off to someone younger. Fuck yeah!
Also remember that anyone who encourages you not to vote likely has an alternative agenda that involves you having less power to use your voice.
Ok, what else?
Check your voter registration here.
Not registered? You’ve moved and it’s out of date? Update your voter registration/registration here.
Don’t forget to vote up and down the ballot! Local elections matter, and hopefully you’ll find someone you’re a lot more passionate about on a local level.
And make sure your friends do the same!!!!
This website also covers what you may need to bring with you the day of. Some states require you to bring your ID, for example, so go check.Your state may have early voting options, and you should definitely use those! They make life a lot easier. You can check those out here.
P.S. Make sure to check your voter registration closer to the election as well, just in case. Probably sometime in September would be best, but just keep an eye out.

I don't give a flying rat's ass how much you hate Joe Biden.
I don't give a flying rat's ass how you feel about Kamala Harris.
You need to suck it the fuck up and vote for him her in November.
I don't like it either, trust me, but this is the ticket that's being put in front of us.
So go out, vote Harris Biden, then go home and get shit faced after if you need to.
But for fucks sake don't let this entire country turn into a goddamn dictatorship.
And for the love of fuck DON'T SKIP IT!
Edit 7/21/24 - Well...

Susan Crawford has defeated Brad Schimel in the Wisconsin Supreme Court election giving a defining blow to Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
Elon Musk donated $20 million dollars to this race and bribed people to vote for Schimel. Wisconsin rejected both of them.
This means that the Wisconsin Supreme Court will have a 4-3 Dem majority which is critical for abortion rights, redistricting measures, etc.

Random thought: making Luigi Mangione a death penalty case is incredibly stupid if you want it to go away!
The absolute smartest thing to do to make this go away is to keep this a normal, run of the mill, boring murder trial. Make sure Luigi Mangione's name is forgotten.
Don't expedite it, don't announce that you are going to try him for the death penalty, and just do your best to not make him into a martyr.
If asked about it, just try to discredit him. Make it out as if he is a lone wolf who is confused and disturbed and didn't know what he was doing.
It would be an incredibly easy playbook to follow...
Personally, I am actually pretty happy with them doing what they are because it is so stupid. Because it is going to inspire people to rise up. It's going to make them politically active. And it is going to shine an even bigger spotlight on the corruption of our insurance industry.
Donald Trump is wiping out thousands of dollars from people's retirement plans. He's causing the price of their goods to skyrocket! A lot of American entrepreneurs who are trying to build companies in the US are probably going to go bankrupt in the coming months because they can't afford the tariffs being placed on them.
And the Department of Justice really wants to have a huge spectacle of a trial to make a man who killed an insurance CEO into a martyr?
And then what?
Even if he loses the case, he will be allowed to make numerous appeals, each of which is going to keep his name in the press throughout Trump's entire term!
Or maybe the Department of Justice fast tracks the execution to make an example of him! But expediating his execution and violating his rights to an appeal will make him even more of a martyr!
There is no good scenario for a death penalty trial for the Trump regime.
