✦ fun facts !
oikawa does make sure that he proposes when [name] leasts expects it (and in clothes she would approve of)
its been two years since the final chapter, by this time, [name] already has a stable job as a screenwriter while oikawa’s acting career is still booming.
[name]’s friends know oikawa has been wanting to propose for months.
Tumblr media
nonsense ! an oikawa tooru social media au
synopsis. you were oikawa tooru’s #1 fan, until you became his #1 hater. you hated him so much you went viral on twitter (accidentally) and literally became known as “the oikawa tooru hater”, doesn’t help that he keeps fueling the fire by subtweeting you. everyone is all in for this new drama. what isn’t known to the public, is that this particular drama’s been on hold for three years (him being your ex and all).
a/n — 3/3! i don’t even know where to begin, nonsense has been an integral part of my life for around 2-3 years, even before i began posting the story on tumblr, before it was even called ‘nonsense’. it’s been on the back of my mind for ages, and when i started this story i didn’t even think it would take me this long to finish it. there has been a lot of times where i lost motivation in writing, and i never forced myself to create because then i just know the content i would put out wouldn’t be the same. so i wrote when i felt like it, when i wanted to, because i think you should never force yourself to continue something if you don’t feel like doing it anymore.
i’m also the type of person that would persist when i love something, and i really really love nonsense. i love this little world that i created and i hope other people loved it too. it’s funny how nonsense began as a silly little thought just because i ran out of smaus to read, and i really did not know how to even make one! i just relied mostly on my gut and thought to myself what i would like to read :). nonsense is very dear to me because it’s the first smau i ever made, i started this last year and i think the story grew with me!
i would just like to thank everyone who read, liked, commented, reblogged, interacted, and spared time for nonsense. i can never say enough how every single one of you mean the world to me, you guys were part of the reason i kept coming back and finishing what i left of. motivation is really the key problem i have, and i can say what motivates me is my love for the story, haikyuu, and you guys ❤️
i love all of you so so so much, thank you for being part of this story and hopefully reading nonsense had made you smile or even made your day.
now, onto my next work! (that i will most likely procrastinate on too, bare with me my darlings)

55; “I’M NOT LETTING YOU DO THIS ALONE”
Tumblr media
“well, this seems alright,” you mumbled to yourself after sitting down on the bed in what now would be your room.
the room was about as big as the one in the hospital’s palliative ward, with beige and one brown colored wall and a few pieces of furniture. it even had a big window and a small balcony to stand on.
“not too bad, huh?,” aran said, putting down your luggage.
he turned to the door, exchanging a few words with the black haired nurse that had greeted you — and as you were told, was also the one who would tend to you. the man informed your best friend of the next steps, his eyes often wandering to you before leaving the two of you to settle in for the next minutes.
you nodded along absentmindedly, not really paying attention to your best friend.
clenching your jaw for a short moment, you looked down at your hands, both placed in your lap, fingers twiddling.
“hey” the mattress dipped beside you as aran sat down. “it’ll be okay,” he said slowly, carefully, after waiting a couple seconds to figure out what to actually say.
you cracked a weak smile, still not looking at him.
a part of you wanted to agree with him, even if you weren’t even sure what ‘it’ actually meant. after all, it couldn’t get much worse than that, could it?
you knew that this must be hard on him too — aran has been your best friend for practically your entire life, obviously he’d be devastated too. and as his best friend your first instinct was to comfort him too, just like he tried with you.
but you couldn’t. what would you even say?
‘it’ll get better’ — that sounded stupid.
‘i’m sure it’ll work out’ — yeah, as if.
‘i’ll be healthy again’ — as if you were ever healthy to begin with.
as if you ever had the same chance at a long life as him, iwaizumi or any of your friends.
but you knew that, didn’t you? ending up here was inevitable, wasn’t it? so why were you so beat up over it?
although, a little more time would’ve been all you needed. a warning, a message, a hint, anything for you to know just how fast you would end up here and how quickly your illness caught up with you.
something to help you come to terms with it. something to prepare you.
and also something to prepare the ones closest to you.
you could still feel aran’s eyes on you, waiting, but not pressuring you to reply. so after a while, your mind still wiped clean of any words you once knew, you could only bring yourself to shrug.
“this is… odd,” you finally said, “i don’t really know what to feel”
“i know,” aran replied slowly, letting out a breathy laugh before he went on. “at least we know you’re still sane”
throwing a quick glance at him, you shook your head, not being able to stop your mouth from curling up. “i guess so”
after a few more moments of silence, aran reached out, putting his hand on yours. “listen, you’re not on your own, okay? i’m not letting you do this alone”
you looked at his hand, fondly remembering how this was something the two of you had done ever since you were little. it was a simple gesture, small and almost insignificant, but to you it meant unconditional support, friendship and trust.
“we’re not letting you do this alone,” he continued, “you got all of us and we’re here for you”
aran could sigh relieved as you finally lifted your head up, directly looking at him. your eyes were teary and your lips were dry and trembling slightly as you nodded weakly.
he immediately pulled you close to him, wrapping his arms around you and engulfing you in a warm hug. “we got you,” he whispered, “i promise”

On June 7th, we venerate Elevated Ancestor Mother Julia Greeley on the 105th anniversary of her passing 🕊
Tumblr media
Affectionately known as Denver’s Angel of Charity, Mother Julia is a Servant of God & is the Patron of Black Catholics, Firefighters, Children, & the Poor/Homeless.
Mother Julia was born enslaved in Hannibal, Missouri sometime between 1833 -1848. She endured hellish treatment, even as a young child beneath her mother's skirts. During one fateful event, in particular, she was stricken by the whip that the slave master used while beating her mother; permanently damaging her right eye. Decades passed before she became among the first "freeman" in the state following the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863. A young woman now, Mother Julia subsequently earned her living by serving White families throughout Missouri, Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico —though primarily in the Denver area. It was her work with the family of Colorado’s first territorial governor that brought her to Denver in 1878.
Two years later, she worked odd jobs around the city until she came upon the steps of the Sacred Heart Parish of Denver, where she was conditionally baptized into the Catholic Church - since she hadn't known if she'd ever been baptized before. She became an enthusiastic parishioner, a daily communicant, & became an active member of the Secular Franciscan Order in 1901. The Jesuit priests at her parish recognized her as the most fervent promoter of devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus that they'd ever witnessed.
She was often seen wearing a floppy hat, oversized shoes, & dabbing her injured right eye with a handkerchief while pulling her red wagon of goods to deliver to the poor & homeless of the city. She'd often do this at night, knowing that some of the poor White families would be embarrassed to be seen receiving charity from her, a Black woman. Whatever she did not need for herself, she gave to the poor. When she had nothing more to give, she begged for food, supplies, & clothing for the needy.
She had a particular devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and would deliver pictures & pamphlets depicting it each month to firefighters throughout the city of Denver. As a daily communicant, Mother Julia also had a rich devotion to the Blessed Sacrament and the Blessed Virgin. She'd recite prayers even while working outside of the parish. She did so until the day of her death. Mother Julia died on June 7, 1918 — ironically on the day of the Feast of the Sacred Heart, around 80 years old.
After which, her body lay in state for 5hrs in a funeral that drew hundreds throughout the city to pay their respects to the woman who fed, clothed, & suported them in the dark for years on end.
Mother Julia was buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The Catholic Church finally granted the request from many for her to be considered for canonizatio in 2016.
As part of the Cause for Canonization, her body was transferred to Denver’s Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in 2017. Her remains were placed in a funerary box made of exotic red heart wood near the altar of the Sacred Heart in the northwest corner of the sanctuary, which will later be encapsulated in a sarcophagus made of Caralla marble (the same stone used by Michaelangelo in his statues). She is one of 6 Afrikan descendants in the U.S. to have open canonization causes with the Catholic Church. Currently, she remains a Servant of God.
In 2012, Catholic Priest, Father Blain Burkey authored a book entitled, “In Secret Service of the Sacred Heart: The Life and Virtues of Julia Greeley,” which later was adapted as a documentary film.
" My communion is my breakfast " - Mother Julia to the priests of her parish.
We pour libations & give her 💐 today as we celebrate her for her service to the city of Denver & for her patronage of all Black Catholics, firefighters, children & the homeless communities whom she served.
Offering suggestions: red wine, bread, catholic Bible, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, parish of denver badge, & little red wagons.

Pitcher
Tiffany & Co.
1874-1875
This pitcher exemplifies the technical virtuosity and creativity that characterized Tiffany & Co.’s finest silver during the 1870s and 1880s. Under the direction of Edward C. Moore (1827-1891), the silver division at Tiffany & Co. produced a diverse array of exquisitely wrought and highly original work. Created in 1874 or 1875, this pitcher is an early example of Tiffany & Co.’s engagement with Near Eastern and Indian works of art. Edward C. Moore was a passionate and discerning collector of metalwork, glass, ceramics, and textiles from the Islamic world and the Indian subcontinent, and these objects had a profound impact on his creative vision and deigns. The elephant head draped with garlands and the surrounding panels of dahlias, lotus flowers, and other exotic vegetation reflect careful study of Indian and Near Eastern sources and attest to the masterful chasing skills of Eugene Soligny (1832-1901). Together with a matching pitcher that was made several years later, this pitcher was presented in 1883 by Julia Rhinelander (d. 1890) to her niece Mary Rhinelander Stewart (1859-1949) on the occasion of her wedding to Frank Spencer Witherbee (1852-1917).

Today in Christian History
Tumblr media
Today is Thursday, February 22nd, 2024. It is the 53rd day of the year in the Gregorian calendar; Because it is a leap year, 313 days remain until the end of the year.
1072: (or the 23rd) Death of Peter Damian, in Faenza, Italy. A reforming monk of the Benedictine order, he will be remembered chiefly for De divina omnipotentia which questioned the limits of the omnipotence of God (e.g.: can God change the past?) and will be declared a doctor of the church in the nineteenth century.
1225: Hugh of St. Cher dons the habit of the Dominican order. He will become a notable Bible scholar and head a team that will create the first really useful Bible concordance.
1297: Death in Cortona, Italy, of St. Margaret of Cortona, a Franciscan tertiary, who had established a hospital for the poor.
1632: Zuni Indians (tribe pictured above) kill Francisco de Letrado and dance with his scalp on a pole. He had been among Spanish missionaries attempting to impose a Christian regime on the Pueblo Indians.
1649: The Westminster Assembly adjourns, having held one thousand one hundred and sixty three sessions over a period of five years, six months, and twenty-two days. They were known for their solemn fasts and long hours of prayer.
1703: General Codrington bequeaths two plantations in Barbados for medical mission work to the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel, on condition that professors and scholars be maintained there to study and practice medicine, surgery, and divinity in order to “endear themselves to the people and have the better opportunities of doing good to men’s souls whilst they are taking care of their bodies.”
1822: Samuel and Catherine Clewes Leigh sail into a New Zealand Bay to begin work among the Maori. Samuel’s Ill health will force them to leave the following year, but the mission will continue under other workers.
1845: Death in London of Rev. Sydney Smith, wit and literary critic, author of The Letters of Peter Plymley. He had once tied some antlers to donkeys to pretend they were deer when an aristocratic lady was visiting. His daughter wrote, “My father died in peace with himself and with all the world; anxious to the last to promote the comfort and happiness of others. He sent messages of kindness and forgiveness to the few he thought had injured him. Almost his last act was bestowing a small living of £120 per annum on a poor, worthy, and friendless clergyman, who had lived a long life of struggle with poverty on £40 per annum.”
1870: Missionary James Gilmour sails from Liverpool to work in China and Mongolia. Made chaplain of the ship on which he is sailing, he shares the gospel with every member of the crew during the night watches.
1892: W. T. Satthianadhan, a leader of the Church Mission Society in Madras, relapses into a serious medical condition and will die within days. He had been a representative to Anglican councils in England, author of books in Tamil and English, an educator at Madras University, vice-president of the Tamil Central Church Council, and founder of benevolent associations.
1901: Charles and Lettie Cowman arrive in Japan where they will become co-founders of the Oriental Mission Society.
1911: Death in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, of Frances E. W. Harper, an African-American woman who had labored in the anti-slavery cause alongside workers such as Julia Ward Howe and Frederick Douglas. She had published a volume of poems when twenty-one years of age.
1930: Soviet agents arrest more than sixty Orthodox clergy and laity in Tomsk for “counter-revolutionary agitation” and “grouping of church people.” They will execute fifty of these individuals.
1954: The first “Voice of Tangier” program airs over a 2,500-watt transmitter. Programming is broadcast in Spanish and English. Within two years, the station will be broadcasting in more than twenty languages.

also I love that all the female characters in Crimson Peak have Grandma Names
not just traditional or classic names. oh no. they could have gone the easy route of Elizabeths, Catherines, Julias, etc. that were very popular back then and have become Timeless now
instead they went balls to the wall Can You Tell It’s 1901 with (un-nicknamed) Edith, Lucille, Eunice, Beatrice, Pamela, Margaret, and Enola. and that is beautiful

Julia Culp - "Mon Coeur S'ouvre A Ta Voix" from Samson Et Dalila (1915) by Saint-Saëns.
Julia Bertha Culp - nickname Juultje - was born on 6 October 1880 at Groningen in the Northern part of the Netherlands as daughter of Baruch Culp, musician and merchant, and Sara Cohen. The Culp's belonged to a Jewish family of comedians and musicians. So Julia's father was musician of profession in the Groninger Harmony Orchestra. In a book Julia wrote in 1915 - when she was the height of her fame - she declared: "My mother discovered my beautiful voice when I was two years old, for cried so terribly that she constantly tald my father "you see she will become a singer, she has such lungs and temperament." My father didn't believe it, so when I was seven years old he wonted me - and her sister Betty - to study the violin and piano first'. But at then her voice was obviously developing fast and soon she was singing at concerts in her home town and in Amsterdam, where she had gone to study with Cornélie van Zanten at the Conservatory there, gaining first-class honours in 1900.
She moved to Berlin to be at the heart of cultural life on the Continent and her debut took place there in 1901. Although she was success, she felt she still had a lot to learn and Wilhelm Berger, accompanist at her debut, introduced her to Etelka Gerster, famous soprano and teacher. Gerster was convinced of the quality of Culp's voice and would give her lessons with delay of payment. Culps habit to sing somewhat to slowly was corrected by Gerster. She sang at a tea party to honour the famed Mathilde Marchesi given at Gerster's school. Long after, Lotte Lehmann recalled the occasion and how Culp's "wonderful voice floated in silver streams through the room." After Maafdenburg took duty for a well know singer at a concert with pianist Ferruccio Busoni here name was quickly established. From 1905, after recital with Coenraad Bos, leading accompanist of his day, in Amsterdam, she felt ready to embark an international career. She appeared in various European cities, once with Grieg, once with Mengelberg in Amsterdam, once with Klemperer in Prague, once with Fritz Busch at the piano in Gotha: more often she was partnered by her younger sister Betsy. Later Culp appeared with, among others, Richard Strauss and Saint-Saëns. In May 1911 she sang the Angel in "The Dream of Gerontius" in London under Wood, who coached her specially for the part. She also appeared with Sir Beecham in the premiere of Deliys's Songs of the Sunset.
In 1913 she finally reached the United States, a visit witch eventually led to the recordings she made. The critics unanimously praised her debut at Carnegie Hall, even thiugh she had hardly recovered from stormy Atlantic crossing. One critic wrote: "Very handsome of presence of striking personality, she gives tremendous autority and conviction to her utterance, and her voice is supported by most remarkable breath - control conceivable." Another commented: "Mada, Culp is a past , mistress at spinnig the tone, and she thus archives ravishing effects with her pianissimo… She breathes so easily that her phrasing is a marvel of sustained emission. These verdicts are amply confirmed by her recordings. They include many of the items she sang on that occasion and at a further recital in February. Until 1917 "The Dutch Nightingale" made yearly long, undermining but successfully throough North - as well as South America, at which she sometimes sang together with the tenor Enrico Caruso. She continued to appear in the USA to increasing acclaim until wae intevened in 1917. In 1916 she appeared before President Woodrow Wilson at the White House in Washinfton, together with Pablo Casals, Percy Grainger and Granados, who tragically died at sea soon afterwards (Culp sang at a benefit concert for his children).
After her second marriage to a Czech 25 years her senior in 1919, she gradually withdrew from burden of recitals, but she continued to appear occasionally during the 1920s, giving her last public concert in 1930. After her husband died in 1934 she took up a teaching post in Vienna. The last time her voice heard was in a broadcast in 1935. When the German moved into Vienna, she feld to Amsterdam together with here sister Betsy, where, being partly Jewish, both were forced into hiding. Furtwängler intervened and she was allowed to return to her flat. She continued to live there quietly after the war with her sister until Betsy's deathin 1958. Betsy's dyeing in 1958 meaned a hard blow to Julia. She died a fortnight after her 90th birthday in 1970 at the 13th October. Only a few people knew at that time, that despised the shotness of her career, she was one of the Netherlands greast singers.

Synopsis: Sakusa was the type to always get things done on his own, but now that he's forced to juggle between his successful pro-volleyball career and being a single dad, what happens when he enrolls his daughter in a new preschool and meets his daughter's new teacher? Will their relationship remain professional or will it evolve into something more?
And that's it! There's only an epilogue and then we're calling it wraps for our favorite family.
Kenma is still pushing for baby #2. Every day he's slowly wearing them down. Lmao.
As usual, let me know what you thought either in the comments or thru ask.
