By Kevin Baxter
(Los Angeles Times) — When Maritza Correia McClendon started swimming in Puerto Rico, she stood out because of her talent, not the color of her skin.
“There’s a lot of diversity in Puerto Rico,” said McClendon, who is Black and Latino, as are one in five people on the island.
Then her Guyanese-born parents moved to Florida when she was 8. Though she had become even faster in the pool, that was no longer the first thing people noticed about her.
“I remember a parent telling me, ‘What are you doing here? You should go do track or you should go on a basketball court,’” she said. “They were almost shaming me for being that outcast on that pool deck.
“That is definitely traumatizing. It’s still hard for me. I do definitely still struggle with that confidence factor.”
McClendon overcame that to become the first Puerto Rican of African descent to make the U.S. Olympic swimming team, the first Black female to win an Olympic medal for the U.S. and the first Black American swimmer to hold a world record.
In an effort to get others to follow her lead, McClendon is now among a growing number of former swimmers, coaches, officials and administrators working to make the sport more accessible and welcoming for people of color, from the grassroots level, where she was once shunned, to the Olympic team, where she shined.
The Paris Games has the opportunity to provide a big boost in those efforts when the swimming competition begins Saturday. Although only two of the 46 pool swimmers who will compete for the U.S. in Paris are Black — and none are Latino — those two, Shaine Casas, a three-time world champion, and Simone Manuel, a two-time Olympic champion and five-time Olympic medalist, have a chance to inspire a generation.

"Xtra Thoughts
July 3
Deep within us is a place where we have found God and God has found us. Once in a great while, we come to this place within us and we realize it is the goal of our seeking. It feels like home. We may not be consciously aware of our seeking. We may be living our lives day by day. The wonder is that while this searching goes on within us, there is also the One who seeks us out, calling to us, desiring that we find the home within. It is God who takes the initiative of seeking and places the desire in our hearts to be found.
–Unknown
The world needs all of our power and love and energy, and each of us has something to give. The trick is to find it and use it, to find it and give it away so there will always be more. We can be lights for each other, and through each other’s illumination we will see the way. Each of us is a seed, a silent promise, and it is always spring.
–Merle Shain
A true winner is one who congratulates the one receiving recognition in heart felt words.

Forgiveness is only one step in the healing process, but a very important one to learn.
–unknown
Burdening yourself with trivial things only affects one person – YOU.

There is no investment you’ll ever make which will pay you so well as the effort to scatter sunshine and good cheer wherever you are.

We see God through eyes of faith.

Website skrillex.com Sonny John Moore (born January 15, 1988), known professionally as Skrillex, is an American DJ, record producer, musician, singer and songwriter. Growing up in Northeast Los Angeles and in Northern California, he joined the American post-hardcore band From First to Last as the lead singer in 2004, and recorded two studio albums with the band (Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Body Count, 2004, and Heroine, 2006) before leaving to pursue a solo career in 2007.[3][4] He began his first tour as a solo artist in late 2007. After recruiting a new band lineup, Moore joined the Alternative Press Tour to support bands such as All Time Low and The Rocket Summer, and appeared on the cover of Alternative Press' annual "100 Bands You Need to Know" issue.[5]
After releasing the Gypsyhook EP in 2009, Moore was scheduled to record his debut studio album, Bells, with producer Noah Shain. He ceased production of the album, however, and began performing under the name Skrillex, distributing the My Name Is Skrillex EP for free download on his official MySpace page. Subsequently, he released the Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites EP in late–2010 and More Monsters and Sprites EP in mid–2011, both of which have since become moderate commercial successes. On November 30, 2011, he received five Grammy Award nominations at the 54th Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist and won three: "Best Dance/Electronica Album", "Best Dance Recording", and "Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical".[6] On December 5, 2011, the BBC announced that he had been nominated for their Sound of 2012 poll.[7] On December 12, 2011, he was also named MTV's Electronic Dance Music Artist of the Year.[8]
Skrillex has won eight Grammy Awards, more than any other electronic dance music artist.[9] Skrillex has collaborated with Diplo and Boys Noize to form the groups of Jack Ü and Dog Blood respectively. It was announced on Moore's 29th birthday, he reunited with From First to Last and released a single named "Make War". In 2017, Skrillex produced and mixed 8, the eighth studio album by rock band Incubus.[10] In July 2017, Skrillex released another single featuring debuting solo artist Poo Bear.[11]

At the ages of 9 and 10, Moore attended a boarding school in the Mojave Desert LV, but eventually moved back to Northern California. Both of his parents were Scientologists.[14][15] He was adopted at birth by family friends of his biological parents and did not find this out until he was 15.[16] By the time he was 12,[citation needed] his family moved back to his birthplace of Northeast Los Angeles. There he enrolled in a private academy school specializing in arts, the school used some of L. Ron Hubbard's teachings.[17] Later he was home schooled at the age of 14 due to bullying. In 2004, he learned he was adopted[18] and dropped out of the program when he was 16.[19][20] While a young teenager in Los Angeles, Moore would attend punk gigs in Mexican American neighborhoods in East and South Los Angeles, and later at electro club raves in the downtown's Silver Lake and Echo Park neighborhoods.[21][22]
Career From First to Last
Skrillex's logo Main article: From First to Last From First to Last is an American post-hardcore band based in Los Angeles Area and Tampa, Florida. The band is composed of lead vocalist Moore, lead guitarist Matt Good, rhythm guitarist Travis Richter, bassist Matt Manning, and drummer Derek Bloom.[citation needed]
Dog Blood Main article: Dog Blood Dog Blood, a side project by Skrillex and Boys Noize, was formed in 2012. Their debut single, consisting of the songs "Next Order" and "Middle Finger", was released on August 12, 2012, on Beatport and iTunes. The song "Next Order" managed to top Beatport's Techno chart.[citation needed]
Jack Ü Main article: Jack Ü Jack Ü is a duo made up of Skrillex and Diplo. Jack Ü's debut performance took place at the Mad Decent Block Party in San Diego on September 15, 2013, which is a nationwide tour that record label Mad Decent puts together to showcase different artists signed to the label.[23] Diplo announced the project by releasing the Mad Decent Block Party lineup with Jack Ü playing at multiple stops on the tour. After some guessing by many of who Jack Ü was, Diplo finally came out to reveal that "Jack Ü ... means Skrillex and Diplo together".[23]
2004–2007: From First to Last
Sonny Moore in 2008 In 2004, Moore contacted Matt Good of From First to Last about playing guitar for the band on their debut album. After flying out to Georgia, Moore was heard singing by three studio producers, Derrick Thomas, Eric Dale, and McHale Butler, and was then made lead singer, with Good playing guitar. In June 2004, Epitaph Records released the band's first full-length record with their new bandmate, Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Body Count. After performing on several successful tours, two being the Vans Warped Tour and Dead by Dawn tour, they began recording their second album, Heroine with producer Ross Robinson. The album was released in March 2006 on Epitaph. With high record sales once again, the band found themselves part of many successful tours, until Moore started suffering vocal problems, causing the band to resign from several tours. After going through a successful vocal surgical procedure, Moore informed the band he would be permanently resigning to work on a solo career. FFTL's last show performed with Moore was in their hometown of Orlando at The House of Blues while touring with Atreyu.
Moore announced he had left From First to Last to pursue a solo career. He then launched a Myspace page displaying three demos ("Signal", "Equinox", and "Glow Worm"). This led to Moore's first performance since his leaving From First to Last. On April 7, 2007, alongside harpist Carol Robbins, Moore played several original songs at a local art building. After months of releasing demos via Myspace, Moore played on the Team Sleep Tour with a full band. The tour also featured supporting acts Monster in the Machine and Strata. Moore made several demo CDs available on this tour, limited to about 30 per show. These CDs were tour exclusive and were packaged in "baby blue envelopes", each with a unique drawing by Moore or bandmate.[24]
2008–2013: Solo career and extended plays
Skrillex in 2012 In February 2008, Alternative Press Magazine announced the second annual AP Tour, with All Time Low, The Rocket Summer, The Matches, and Forever the Sickest Kids, as well as Sonny Moore. The tour started in Houston, Texas on March 14 and went through North America, ending in Cleveland, Ohio on May 2, with the majority of the shows being sold out. All bands playing the tour would be featured on the cover of Alternative Press Magazine's annual 100 Bands You Need to Know special, and would be interviewed on the Alternative Press Podcast. During this tour, Moore's line-up consisted of Sean Friday on drums, Christopher Null on guitar, and Aaron Rothe on keyboards. On April 7, 2009, he released Gypsyhook, a digital EP, which featured three songs and four remixes. Also included was "海水" ("Kaisui"), a Japanese version of "Mora". Physical copies of the EP were available at his shows. After going on tour with Innerpartysystem and Paper Route and opening for Chiodos on their European tour, Moore performed at Bamboozle on May 2. He performed on Bamboozle Left's Saints and Sinners stage on April 4. He toured with Hollywood Undead in April 2009 performing under the band name Sonny and the Blood Monkeys, with Chris Null (electric guitar), Sean Friday (drums, percussion, and beats) and Aaron Rothe (keyboards, synthesizers, programming, and turntables). Moore has stated that the album Bells will not be released.[25]
In 2008, Moore began producing and performing under the alias Skrillex at clubs in the Los Angeles area.[26] The name, according to Moore, has no meaning and was "a stupid old online AOL screen name".[27] Previously, he had been known on the Internet as Twipz.[28] On June 7, 2010, Moore released his official Skrillex debut EP, My Name Is Skrillex as a free download.[29] Moore provided programming and vocals for UK metalcore band Bring Me the Horizon on their third studio album, There Is a Hell Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is a Heaven Let's Keep It a Secret.[30] Later in the year, Sonny began a nationwide tour with deadmau5 after being signed to mau5trap recordings and released his second EP, Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites.
(L to R:) Porter Robinson, Zedd, and Skrillex performing at SXSW on March 16, 2012 Moore kicked off the "Project Blue Book Tour" in 2011 with support from Porter Robinson, Tommy Lee and DJ Aero as well as appearances from Sofia Toufa for a new song, "Bring Out the Devil". Skrillex unveiled several new songs on this tour including "First of the Year" (formerly known as "Equinox"), "Reptile", and "Cinema" (remix of a Benny Benassi track). "Reptile" was featured in the TV commercial for Mortal Kombat 9, and "First of the Year (Equinox)" is featured on More Monsters and Sprites, his follow-up EP and remix companion to Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites. In April 2011, Spin premiered "Get Up", an exclusive new track from Korn that was produced by Skrillex. Korn made the track available for free download via their Facebook page.[31] On April 15, 2011, KoRn joined Skrillex on stage for his set at Coachella 2011. On April 18, 2011, Sony Computer Entertainment (SCEA) development studio Naughty Dog released a trailer[32] for the multiplayer component of their PlayStation 3 game Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, featuring "Kill EVERYBODY" from Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites.
In June 2011, "More Monsters and Sprites" was released on Beatport, an EP consisting of three original tracks, including "First of the Year (Equinox)" and two versions of his original track "Ruffneck". The track "Ruffneck Bass" had been leaked on the internet months prior which used the same sample as in the new "Ruffneck" tracks on the EP. Skrillex released a music video for "Rock n' Roll (Will Take You to the Mountain)" on his official YouTube page on June 20, 2011.[33] On August 17, 2011 Skrillex announced his label, OWSLA.[34]
Skrillex performing live at the 2011 Ottawa Bluesfest "The label's first releases will come from Bristol-based dubstep producers KOAN Sound, electro-house newcomer Porter Robinson from North Carolina, singer-songwriter Alvin Risk, and San Francisco-based M Machine (formally Metropolis)."[35] Skrillex released a music video for "First of the Year (Equinox)" via Spin.com on August 19, 2011. In late August 2011 it was released that he would be appearing Knife Party's first release, collaborating on "Zoology", a Moombahton style track. A preview was released on YouTube. In late September 2011 he created the track "Syndicate" as promotion for the video game of the same name. Kaskade's 2011 album Fire & Ice features "Lick It", a collaboration between Kaskade and Skrillex. The video for Skrillex's song "First of the Year (Equinox)" appears on the first episode of the Beavis and Butt-head revival.
On November 8, Skrillex stated that he intended to release an album, Voltage. Skrillex gave fans more info about Voltage in RockSound Magazine after a photoshoot for the cover and doing an extensive interview on his tour.[36] For unknown reasons, however, the album was never released, however on December 21, 2011, Skrillex unveiled the Bangarang EP for a Beatport release on December 23, then on August 12, 2012, his new side-project formed with Boys Noize called Dog Blood released an EP called Next Order/Middle Finger. On November 6, 2012, Skrillex released a limited edition triple vinyl box set.[37] Skrillex composed the song "Bug Hunt" for the 2012 animated film Wreck-It Ralph, as well as making a brief cameo as a DJ in the film's first act, and in December 2012, "Make It Bun Dem" is used in as a looped variant during the single-player mission 'Kick the Hornets Nest' in the video game Far Cry 3. On March 7, 2014, an App titled "Alien Ride" was put up on Apple's App Store which contained a secret folder with 11 hidden objects and a countdown ending March 10 at 6:30EST. Moore's website was updated with the App's picture on the front page and it was later revealed the folder contains Google Play and iTunes url's which eventually were revealed to be 11 new songs available to stream that comprised his debut LP, titled Recess. The album was made available for pre-order at midnight and was released on March 18, 2014.

Hello! I've seen many of great fandorms for TWST and I really wanted to make one myself, so I did. I'm the admin Hallow! My main is @halloweenismyfav. There will be more in depth profiles soon.
Welcome To Webrinth!
《 A dorm founded by Mother Gothel's yearning for youth. 》
《 Dorm Members 》
《 Neo Uebel 》 - Bio Coming Soon!
• The mysterious dorm head of Webrinth. Neo is manipulative in many ways and is very aware of how he acts. He's like a much worse Leona. Neo is also quite sadistic.
• He's twisted from Mother Gothel.
• His VA is Shintarou Asanuma (Maehara Hiroto - Assassination Classroom)
• Neo's exact age is unknown due to him being a fae. He's a 3rd year.
• His birthday is February 17th.
• His homeland are the Chilling Mountains.
• Neo means "new" or "gift". Uebel means "possession" and sometimes is related to evil.
《 Shain Lebeau 》 - Bio Coming Soon!
• The constantly oblivious vice dorm head. Shain is quite kind and means well, but he's also very clumsy and causes trouble without realizing it.
• He's twisted from Rapunzel's crown.
• His VA is Daiki Kobayashi (Mitsuba Sousuke - Toilet Bound Hanako-kun)
• Shain is 17 and a 2nd year.
• His birthday is July 4th.
• His homeland is the Land of Pyroxene.
• Shain sometimes means "gracious". Lebeau means "fair" and "lovely". It sometimes is also used as a nickname for handsome men.
《 Gailen Oak 》 - Bio Coming Soon!
• The all-over the place 1st year of Webrinth. Gailen means well most of the time but he has the worst anxiety so he constantly rambles out of sheer nervousness.
• He's twisted from Varian (Tangled animated series).
• His VA is Atsushi Tamaru (Tsumugi Tsukioka - A3!)
• Gailen is 15.
• His birthday is March 6th.
• His homeland is the Town of Lunar.
• Gailen means "healer" and "calm". Oak sometimes means "strength".
《 Emine Cerity 》 - Bio Coming Soon!
• The constantly annoyed 2nd year. She's the voice of reason in Webrinth. Emine is very fearless, brave, and sincere. Being among many men means she's not fazed by much and grew to be blunt with her words.
• Emine is twisted from Rapunzel's frying pan.
• Her VA is Ami Koshimizu (Beidou - Genshin Impact)
• Emine is 17.
• Her birthday is December 25th.
• Her homeland is the Sea of Lanturns.
• Emine means "truthful" or "courageous". It's also argued to mean beautiful. Cerity is derived from "sincerity" since she's a very sincere person.
《 Dorm Uniform 》
Please excuse my terribly drawn dorm uniform sketches! (I do traditional and I have terribly lighting, forgive me)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• The choker and ribbon around the waist match.
• The uniform can be altered (to an extent) if you gain permission from Neo.
• Some people get freaked out by the hoods.
《 Requirements 》
• The dorm members must be pretty, whether it be physically, in a sense that they have a good soul, or that they're smart. Webrinth is sometimes known to give Pomefiore a run for it's money afterall!
- It's rare that someone who Neo considers "ugly" is accepted into Webrinth, but no one is truly ugly, so it's happened in the past.
• With the dorm uniform requirements, a dorm member must have an outfit with purples, greens, gold, or red. Whether it's the main color or just accents is up to the member.
• Every member must wear the same choker.
• With the NRC uniforms, members have a wine red vest and the same red is in their magic pen.
• Female dorm members are welcomed since Neo thinks it would only be fair. (In reality he just likes to pull that classic scene of Mother Gothel and Rapunzel in front of the mirror with said female members.)
• Many students in Webrinth excell in Magical History or Alchemy.
《 Extra Info 》
• Webrinth's name is 'web' and 'labyrinth' put together.
• Webrinth is a Tangled themed dorm.
• The Town of Lunar is a smaller place but it's still big enough, a population of around 8,000 people. The town is dim 24/7. They always see the light from the Sea of Lanturns and wonder if it's the moon and stars.
• The Sea of Lanturns is a world that's always bright. Lanturns are floating everywhere and you can't turn a corner without seeing one. The people who come from there seem to be constantly chipper. The population is around 20,000 people.
• The Chilling Mountains is a pretty dark place. Not physically, but figuratively. It's been deemed "chilling" not because it's cold, but because the place isn't kind to those who aren't what society deems as 'perfect'. The population is around 100,000 people.

bullshit-free guide to actually fucking writing your wip
disclaimer: this isn’t a fool proof method. when it comes to writing advice and techniques for productivity I say keep an open mind, but take what works for you and leave the rest.
disclaimer 02: this is more or less for people who want to eventually publish, but there may be elements in here that benefit hobby-writers.
Where & When You Write
Some people will tell you that your writing routine needs to be sacred. I don’t quite believe that. You can absolutely curate a space for yourself that you aim to write in, but at the same time, focusing very strongly on the ritual of writing makes it hard to create an adaptable habit.
The Writing Zone:
Your desk or table should face away from your bed, my mother always swore by that and it stuck with me. If space doesn’t allow for that, consider putting furniture or some partition up so you can’t see your bed. For some reason, this makes focusing easier.
For those of you who may be bedridden or have limited space, a good bed-desk is absolutely just as acceptable (I am actually planning to get one).
If you have a space separate from your bedroom, the follow applies as well:
Eliminate as much distraction as possible from your desk. Your experience of distraction is unique so do what you gotta do to eliminate it.
Make sure your space is well lit. Background light is essential to avoid eyestrain when staring at a screen.
Your chair should be comfortable, and support your back. Scoot your ass all the way to the back of the chair and try sitting on your thighs as much as possible to take strain off your lower spine (my chiropractor told me this).
The Writing Time:
You need to make time for your writing. Summer means the sunshine is waking me up at 5:45 AM and it’s too hot to doze comfortably so my ass is up and writing or reading until 7 AM when I gotta start getting reading for the day. If I have to catch the 10:15 AM bus, I’ve for about 4 hours to work with between waking up and leaving.
I finished July 2019 Camp Nano by writing in the morning. And I’m not even a morning person, I swear.
Make time for you writing. If you can make a routine you can stick to, excellent, if you have a handful of 5-10 minute time-pockets— also okay! The 30 minutes your dinner is in the oven is just as good a time to write as any other.
How do you learn how to write in tiny time pockets, you ask, well here it is: Micro Writing Sprints and Macro Writing Sprints. The former applies to pockets of time under 15 mins, while the latter applies to pockets of time over 20 mins. All you have to do is set a timer and challenge yourself to write as much as you possibly can.
Another thing to keep in mind is knowing your personal limits. If your attention suffers and you start to wander after 15 mins, keep your sprints to 5-10 minute blocks, and give yourself 5-15 min breaks where you get up, drink some water, move your body and then come back to your writing.
How to Write More, Faster
You have to kill your inner editor. Or at least subdue them. You can fix a typo or whatever but that’s really it. The idea is that you need to allow yourself to get into a mindset where you’re only focusing on the writing, your prose is allowed to be a mess. Insecurity and doubt have no place here, only writing.
Your first draft doesn’t need to be clean. You get to clean it up when it’s done. Stephen King says you write your first draft with the door closed, and the second with the door open, and I like that saying a lot. The revision process is actually way more fun than I thought it would be. I get to make fun of myself for my weird writing quirks— every single one of my “most common errors” in my Grammarly report is about misusing commas!— and restructure and improve upon the foundation I laid with the first draft.
If you come up with something that changes something significant to your story, write a note about it, and then continue on with your draft like it’s been that way the whole ass time. Do not go back and change things. Just keep writing.
Learning how to do Writing Sprints allows you to quickly get into the habit of putting everything down as fast as you can without overthinking it. Because the real thinking is for later, when you’re revising. Essentially these Sprints enable you to get into the writing zone much faster, so feasibly you could write in small time-pockets at the bus stop, in a waiting room, on the bus—anywhere.
Outlining will make you write faster.
Yes I am pro-outlining, please don’t click away because of that, because I also still think that you need to use what works for you, and if you’re reading this something isn’t working, so please keep your mind open.
The very least you should try is preparing or pre-planning what you need to write for your writing session (no matter how short). You will write more and faster this way. Most of all, you will be less likely to “wander” around.
I wrote out a small fragment-filled paragraph of what needed to happen in the first few scenes of my July 2019 Camp Nano project and got them out more easily and faster compared to when I didn’t. I wrote sustainedly in 30 minute time-pockets with a great deal of focus when I prepared my writing before actually writing.
Your WIP Outline
What if your outline was also actually super connected to your character sheets? Libbie Hawker makes this sound so easy in her book “Take Off Your Pants” in which she broke down some very interesting ideas on how to build your characters and your story that I hadn’t previously considered.
What I ended up with was something like this:
CHARACTER NAME Character: write down the basics; age, career, small relevant facts Flaw: what problem do they have that hinders them External goal: the thing they want that they can’t get unless they overcome their ‘flaw’ Ally:  who pushes the character toward their goal when they stray Antagonist: who has same or aligned goal, but with different motives and execution Events:
Opening scene
Inciting event
Character realizes external goal
Display of flaw
Drive for goal
Antagonist reveal
Thwart 01
Revisiting flaw
New drive for goal
Antagonist attacks
Thwart 02
Changed goal
Ally intervention
Renewed Focus
Battle
Death
Outcome
End: success or failure or neutral result with regards to overcoming ‘flaw’
The stuff under the “Events” category is stuff everyone has seen before in narrative charts, and it won’t be the last time you see it either. You can use or discard or repeat them however many times you need to. I still think this plot chart that I made it great for figuring out pacing, so check that out if you need some help there.
You can also apply these to series, where the character’s “Flaw” and “External goal” change as the narrative progresses.
All of these parts are explained in Libbie Hawker’s book, but I’m happy to explain if you DM me!
I applied a central idea for my WIP “Hyacinth Stalks” and all the central characters share a common idea with regards to their flaws. Hawker recommends filling in this information for all central characters, and working in which events which characters will interact in.
The common idea is that my characters are “holding onto the past to feel more in control in the present”. Juliet Shain maintains habits of maintaining a “perfect athletic body” in the same way she did as a dancer five years earlier. She can’t exercise that same control over her mental health, which she struggles with, because of questions she has pertaining to the accident that lost her her leg remaining unanswered.
Juliet’s ultimate goal is closure about the accident, which she won’t be able to access unless she stops holding onto the past and in turn the idea that the accident “ruined” her.
I can apply the same things to Alana Murdock, another central character in “Hyacinth Stalks”, who, because she could only rely on herself after her sister’s murder while her parents grieved and her brother cut all contact, rejects her brother’s attempt to reconnect in order to protect herself in the present despite the stress of the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Hyacinth Killer’s disappearance. Her goal, would be to make it to the Olympic Volleyball team, which she won’t be able to do unless she stops isolating herself.
I can now approach the Events sections with more clarity because I know what the characters’ goals are and what their hindrances are as well. I can apply the same ideas to the other central characters, as well as the Serial Killer and weave their stories into the narrative as well. When you have a strong character arc, you can build a strong story.
When you can answer the questions about your character(s) you can fill in those Event sections with far more ease, and begin to break those sections down into chapters, scenes, or beats, with as much or as little detail as you want. Libbie Hawker’s method involves writing out paragraphs worth of scene details before actually getting to the writing. She says this isn’t necessary, but that for her it eliminates “wandering” and any doubts about what needs to be put on the page.
Personally speaking, I lie somewhere in the middle, wherein my scene outlines involve small paragraph or bullet points for what needs to happen.
Hawker has written books in 21 days, so there is definitely some magic in her method. In her book, Hawker details that creating her outline took 4 hours. When I outlined “But a Monster” it took a week (5 days), and despite not having had her method then, the existence of the outline made writing the novel much clearer and focused, which my writing had not been prior to admitting I needed to give outlining a chance.
All writing advice is a tree of wisdom
Take what benefits you most and leave the rest.
I have fully taken the advice that I have attempted to explain here. I read in “5000 Words Per Hour” by Chris Fox and “Take Off Your Pants” by Libbie Hawker and felt incredibly inspired and motivated, but some of what they say or eschue doesn’t resonate with me or my craft. I have to do what works for my writing, and if I’m happy with the pace the work is going at then alright!
What I’ve written here is meant to give you new ideas on how to be more productive. I read the books that helped me come up with this because I felt like something was lacking in my writing routine and I had my eyes opened. I hope I have opened yours too and that your work benefits from this.

James T. West
Tumblr media
Robert Conrad starred as James West. Before The Wild Wild West, Conrad played private eye Tom Lopaka in ABC's Hawaiian Eye for four seasons, 1959-63. Conrad claimed to be the 17th actor to test for the role of James West. (Rory Calhoun was initially announced for the part.) Conrad performed nearly all of his own stunts on The Wild Wild West. "For the first few episodes we tried stuntmen," Conrad explained, "but the setup time slowed production down, so I volunteered. Things started moving quicker when I took the jumps and the spills. We started meeting the budget." Early on he was doubled by Louie Elias or Chuck O'Brien.
On January 24, 1968, however, during filming of "The Night of the Fugitives", Conrad fell 12 ft (3.7 m) from a chandelier onto a concrete floor and suffered a concussion. As a result, production of the series (then near the end of its third season) ended two weeks early. Conrad spent weeks in the hospital, and had a long convalescence slowed by constant dizziness. The episode was eventually completed and aired during the fourth season, with footage of the fall left in. Conrad later told Percy Shain of the Boston Globe, "I have the whole scene on film. It's a constant reminder to be careful. It also bolstered my determination to make this my last year with the series. Four seasons are enough of this sort of thing."

Born July 2, 1842, James West went to college where he was mentored by archaeology expert Professor Robey. He then served in the Union Army during the Civil War, attaining the rank of Captain. About a decade later, President Grant recalls him to service as a special agent to discover why someone might wish to start a war between the United States and Mexico.
Little is known of the early history of James T. West. In fact, it is not known what the T in his name stands for. He is known to have mentioned his father once but there was not enough information to draw any knowledge about the man.
West was born on July 2, 1842. Many events, however, have contradictory dates unless we assume that the stories are not told in chronological order, which is entirely possible since they are almost completely episodic. What is known is that Jim West graduated from West Point and subsequently served as a Cavalry officer, rising to the rank of Major in the United States Army. He was decorated many times.
In 1865, when he was a lieutenant, near Vicksburg, Virginia, in the aftermath of a battle, he stumbled upon a wounded Confederate soldier. The man’s legs had been severely damaged. West applied tourniquets that stopped the bleeding and saved the man’s life. This particular incident would later have repercussions in West's career as a Secret Service agent.
It is unclear as to precisely when Jim West was recruited into the United States Secret Service. The Service itself was founded in 1865 but it is difficult to construct a timeline using our world’s history as a template because the world James West lived in is clearly a different one. It is possible to say that he was recruited sometime between 1865 and 1870. By the end of 1870, he was one of two agents (the other being Artemus Gordon) who worked directly for and answered only to the President of the United States, Ulysses Simpson Grant.
Even when we first encounter Jim and Arte, estimated to be 1871, they have already been working together long enough to have become best friends and to implicitly trust each other. They are presented as troubleshooters sent by the President to investigate threats to American security.
West and Gordon traveled in luxurious style on a train named the Wanderer, complete with numerous fancy and futuristic gadgets and a laboratory on board. There was never any explanation for how these gadgets existed in that time period of the late 19th century. It seemed normal in that reality.
Unlike his partner Artemus Gordon, Jim relies on his fists to get him past his enemies, or his seductive wiles to charm the ladies. He also has a knack for safe cracking which he picked up along the way in his travels. He travels in style aboard the Wanderer, a specially-equipped private train with richly appointed compartments containing a wide array of special of his suit coat, a breakway two-shot derringer he can assemble from pieces contained in his bootheels, a grappling hook and line that can be fired from his revolver, and a special ring that can cut through iron bars. On occasion, he supplements this gear with more specialized equipment.
Sometime around 1882, West and Gordon retired from the Secret Service. By 1885, West was traveling through Mexico when he received word that the son of the late Dr. Loveless (who had died sometime between 1875 and 1882) had threatened the United States with a weapon that could destroy cities much as his father had once done and they were asked to come out of retirement. They defeated Dr. Loveless, Jr. but realized that he had clones planted all around the world so they may not have seen the last of him.
They were called out of retirement one last time (or just never went back into retirement) although the adventure was noticeably lacking in any fights or battles of any kind. And with that adventure, James West rode off into the sunset, heading west, for the last known time.
James West is a handsome ladies man. Although small in stature, he is a coiled spring of energy. He usually wears a blue western style suit complete with vest, cowboy hat and numerous concealed weapons and devices. A martial arts master, West’s speed is amazing. Regularly defeating groups of at least four opponents in hand-to-hand fights, he was equally unmatched with guns, once defeating even an android in a fast-draw contest.
Sure of himself and quite confident, Jim West is what James Bond might have been had he been living in the United States of America during the 1870's. He is also never one to run from any fight. A notorious gunfighter once threatened Artemus Gordon while he was sporting an injured arm when Gordon said something about the man’s notorious reputation, implying it might not be a good idea for Gordon to have such a good memory.
The gunman said Gordon talked big for a guy with a bad wing (meaning his gun hand). West said, “My name is Jim West. I’ve got a good memory too and there’s nothing wrong with my wing.

Xtra Thoughts

Burdening yourself with trivial things only affects one person – YOU.

There is no investment you’ll ever make which will pay you so well as the effort to scatter sunshine and good cheer wherever you are.

Her Name Is Mary Ann Elvington: Devout White Christian Grandmother Kidnapped And Murdered By Black Male With Extensive Criminal History
Tumblr media
Virtually every day, I wish I could turn away and not pay attention to what’s happening. Years ago, when I was an undergraduate, Steve Sailer told me candidly not to pay attention to race. It wasn’t worth it.
To let it go.
I was prepared to do just this, until a friend of mine I grew up with was murdered in the streets of Atlanta back in 2011. Her sin? Her crime? Being white.
It’s been almost 10 years and not a day goes by that I don’t think about Brittney Watts.
She was gunned down by a black male inflamed by anti-white hatred learned through white privilege teachings in college, causing him to target two other white females in a racial shooting spree virtually no one remembers.
Save me.
Daily.
We aren’t supposed to remember these names. We aren’t supposed to remember what happened to them or how they were murdered. How their final moments on earth passed them by, and just who/whom ended their lives.
But I do.
Her Name Is Mary Ann Elvington.
Suspect in elderly Horry Co. woman’s death had extensive criminal history, WPDE.com, April 1, 2021
Officials arrested Dominique Davonah Brand, 29, of Marion, for his connection to the kidnapping and murder of 80-year-old Mary Ann Elvington on Wednesday, according to a tweet from the Horry County Police Dept.
A source connected to the investigation told us Brand turned himself in Wednesday to authorities.
Brand is also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, the post said.
ABC15 requested a background check on Brand from the State Law Enforcement Division. According to the background check information, his criminal history is lengthy:
In 2008, Brand was convicted on two misdemeanor petty larceny charges out of the city of Marion. He was sentenced to 15 days in jail, but that was suspended if he paid a fine and restitution.
In 2009, Brand sentenced under the youthful offenders act on a non-violent second degree burglary charge. The sentence was not to exceed six years in prison.
In June 2011, Marion Police charged Brand with 10 second degree burglary charges and seven petty larceny charges.
In September 2011, Marion County Sheriff’s deputies charged Brand with three counts of second degree burglary and two counts of grand larceny.
In October 2011, Marion Police charged him with malicious injury to personal property; breaking into auto tanks where fuel is stored; two counts of malicious injury to real property; two counts of grand larceny; and four counts second degree burglary.
In 2012, he was in court on all of those 2011 charges where he was convicted on multiple violent second degree burglary charge and sentenced to 15 years in prison on all charges to run concurrently. He was also convicted on other lesser charges and was ordered to pay restitution.
He is now facing kidnapping, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted violent felon and murder charges in connection with the death of Elvington.
Chrysti Shain, with the South Carolina Department of Corrections, said Brand was admitted to SCDC under the Youthful Offender Act on Sept. 19, 2009.
He was released to Marion County YOA parole on Feb. 2, 2010. His sentence was satisfied on July 21, 2011.
He was readmitted to SCDC on Feb. 10, 2012 after pleading guilty to five counts of second-degree burglary from Marion County. He was sentenced to 15 years, of which he is required to serve one-third before being eligible for parole.
He was released on parole in Marion County on April 13, 2018.
“If he had not been released on parole, he would have been released on supervised reentry in June 2019. His official max-out date was December 2019,” she said.
The investigation into Elvington’s death is still ongoing across multiple jurisdictions with the assistance of local, state, and federal authorities.
Several deputies along with the SLED were gathered Wednesday afternoon outside a home on Pine Street in Marion.
We confirmed with Sheriff Brian Wallace that this house was searched in connection to Elvington’s murder case.
Elvington was reported missing and a search was launched Sunday. Her car was located by authorities first in Marion County, and her body was later found Monday.
Elvington’s longtime pastor at Mt. Olive Baptist Church told us he is relieved an arrest has been made so that her family can start to heal.
“We were very excited, very relieved to hear of this person being apprehended, it does bring a measure of peace. Like I said, it doesn’t undo all the evil that has been done but it does help heal the heart to know this person has been stopped” said Stephen Vipperman.
It would be a disservice to the memory of my friend Brittney Watts if I didn’t keep going and document what’s happening across America.
We aren’t supposed to notice the Anti-White wave attempting to capsize the nation our ancestors built on this continent, and the only duty we have is to stand against this force and never, ever capitulate.
No, it’s bigger than that.
It’s to say their names. And to document what happened.
I wish I didn’t care. But, in the memory of my friend Brittney Watts, I do.
Her Name Is Mary Ann Elvington (a loving Christian woman), a beautiful white grandmother, murdered by a black career criminal.
Were white privilege real, the only name preached by the corporate media would be Mary Ann Elvington. Instead, all we hear about is George Floyd.

Hey everybody! My name is Shaine and I’m an artist/podcaster in Massachusetts.
To keep a long story short: I was hospitalized at the end of July and it’s put a huge dent in my finances. I’m opening up commissions in order to pay my bills and keep afloat while I wait for my first paycheck from Starbucks
Personalized stickers: $5
