My Review:

Unlike the usual pattern of reading the book and then watching the film, I read this book because of the film. My mum and I watched the movie together and I thought it was adorable, so I read the book.

I loved the book, but I prefer to treat the book and the film as two separate works. If you've watched thee movie and are wondering if you should read the book, it's a solid YES, but be warned that they are EXTREMELY different. They follow the same path of Juliet going to Guernsey and wanting to write about the Society, but many of the details have been changed. Oddly enough, this does not take away from either. So if you've read it and want to watch it, or if you've watched it and want to read it, definitely do that! Just know that they're different.

And now onto the review! The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is written entirely in the form of letters, notes, and telegrams. The POV changes depending on who is writing the letters, but don't worry, each letter says above it who it is from and who it is addressed to (i.e. Sidney to Juliet). Juliet first learns of the Society through a letter from Dawsey Adams, who is looking for more works by Charles Lamb. Juliet writes him back, and they begin a correspondence. Through Dawsey ,Juliet learns of the Society, and yearns to learn more. After a long correspondence with multiple members of the Society, Juliet picks up and travels to Guernsey.

On Guernsey, Juliet explores and becomes close friends with all of the Society members. The journey of Juliet and the other members is one full of love and merriness, and leaves you feeling warm and loved by the end.

If you're looking for a feel-good book to read in one sitting on a rainy day, this is the book for you!

Challenge: List the WIPs you promised you'd update, and why you haven't yet

I was tagged by @zim-zam-goddamn and now I have to admit the million unwritten fics and ideas that haven't been published yet!

1. Darkling x Fem!Reader; Title: Worship

I literally started this yesterday so it won't be published for a bit, but it's just pure, unbridled smut at this point and I'm too self concious to edit and publish it at the moment

2. Rafael Barba x Fem!Reader; Title: Volition II

Part 2 to my first Barba fic and it's still being worked on. I love the character too much to write a half-assed fic so it will take time to finish.

3. Benedict Bridgerton x Fem!Reader; Title: Portrait

Also smut! I haven't written for Benedict for a hot second, therefore this one is also taking some time to finish. Certain characters are more difficult to write about because of lack of source material for whatever reason and I consider Benedict to be in that category. Just need more time :)

4. Henry!Sherlock x Fem!Reader; No title assigned

WIP that hasn't even been started. It will be a Sherlock x Assistant. Think Rick and Evelyn vibes from The Mummy. Solve an interesting case filled with sexual tension, romance, and banter. I love The Mummy and felt this could fit a mystery-based character.

Other WIP I've brainstormed:

A Dawsey Adams x Fem!Reader where the Reader is Elizabeth's sister and there has always been something between her and Dawsey. Juliet's arrival and uncovering of the story of the PPPS brings their relationship to light. Small fandoms that have few works to them need love too! :)

I also have a long-form Sirius Black x OFC (marauders era) fic drafted and begun on my Wattpad. I am slowly less and less interested in Wattpad because of the damn adverts and Ao3 doesn't allow for proper art work or format I like. Who knows if this will ever see the light of day, I ended up using some of the descriptions written for that fic in Exile (Darkling x Fem!Reader).

TBH there are more possible ideas I've written down but they're not fleshed out enough to warrant being listed. Another Sherlock fic, A Godfather fic, A Saving Private Ryan fic, Another Benedict fic, and a possible brainstorm for The Mandalorian.
