📜 What will your backstory be?

I'd be from Faerghus probably. I think I'd want to be the son of a florist or merchant of some description based in Fhirdiad. I think I'd have somehow ended up at the School of Sorcery (probably fixated on magic a bit too much and got good at it as an accidental result) and realise I enjoy helping people, so I'd try and get into the Officers Academy. Though some of that might also be a product of financial concerns or other issues.

📚 What nature will your magic be? Both reason and faith are accepted!

I think I'd have a lot of healing/support magic (Heal / Physic / Fortify / Warp) and my offensive magic would be ice based (Fimbulvetr / Blizzard) with some light from the Faith (like Nosferatu / etc)

☕ What tea should Byleth get for your teatime?

I'm not a big fan of tea, but if I had to pick one for the game mechanic's sake, I'd probably go with Ginger Tea, or something sweet.

Oh that's a tough one. Depending on if it's Pre or Post Timeskip, I'd either ask if they can point me in the direction of someone who I can talk to about a book I like, or I'd ask about ways to deal with nerves before a fight.

12. What would you remembered for when you die

A hard question I'll be honest, not something I've pondered before, I think if I had to pick one to be remembered for on a wide scale it would be to have made art/games that has meant something to people, have made games that will have thriving online communities a la hollow knight or something like that, be the kind of creator that when I die, people will mourn me on online forums. But really it is more important for me to be remembered by people I myself also know, be remembered for who I was, the one they knew and not whoever the public and internet might have known

22. would you kill a stranger to save someone you don't know

This one I really don't know, it's a bit similar to the trolley problem, and whenever I ponder that problem I end up saying I don't think I could do it, so I think it would be similar here, I don't think I would actually be able to do it

no clue, absolutely no idea, never thought about it, I assume this is a situation where he can answer any question completely, but there's some kinda drawback, either he'll lie or he'll twist the truth in a horrible way and if I knew he would do that I don't really think I would take the chance, in the situation where he would answer my question truthfully and with no tricks but he gets my soul or something I also don't think I would take the chance. Chapter 174

The big question for this chapter is why AD helped the doll escape. My theory is that he's trying to keep Anton, specifically, away from her, but it's worth noting that a lot of people think he and the doll/32 have some sort of special connection.

I don't think that's very likely. His parents are 4-star or 3-star, not allowed on the fifth level, and there was an eight year time-skip between when the doll was thrown into the garbage shoot (and presumably when 32 died) and when she woke up. AD was about eight years old at the time Andy was born. The Mizuha clones were in a lab on the highest level. Although AD has an uncle—Rabbit—who is a Kaibara employee, it's very unlikely that he was up there without a tag-chip at eight years old. It's possible, I guess?? But it doesn't make much sense.

AD was also looking for the doll on Rabbit's orders the first few times we saw him. He even successfully captured her at one point. But clearly something's changed. Between then and now, the new variable that's been added to the equation is Anton. In Chapter 170.4, AD had Bon in his hands but voluntarily let him go when he saw that Anton was in trouble. Helping the doll might be an attempt to undermine Anton's reign of terror for his own good.

Or, actually? The doll is the one who suggests that AD may have come to warn them, because she wants to believe that she has a past and that there are people out there who care about her. But it might just be that she spared his life and he wanted to repay the favor. He would probably prefer capturing an immortal to capturing someone who's lacking like him.

Fushi's still doing their best to respect other people's resolve. Maybe not the right call for this specific situation but good on them.

If AD never had a chip embedded to begin with, that means his mom gave birth to him, meaning—by Fushi's logic—that his parents loved each other that much. And it's true, when they have Andy made they do seem pretty lovey-dovey. But having the first child born naturally and the next child created exactly how they like seems to imply that there's something unsatisfying about AD. Something "lacking," as it were. Sorry.

Although AD is literally from both of their DNA, they created Andy to match the two of them. Literally, his eye colors were chosen to look like theirs. From an outsider's perspective, AD must seem like the odd one out.

Despite that, AD and Anton's relationship looks pretty good. Anton used to look up to him, we can tell that much from the way he idolized the pick-up hunters and went off to help them the instant he was old enough. Now he's patronizing AD because he's suddenly so much stronger. So... it's a little bit tumultuous. Nothing big, just something tiny that might blow up later.

Just want to say, at this point Fushi's friends die all the time. Gugu just said so on the previous page. Tonari died earlier this morning. It's such a common occurrence that everyone thinks it's a little strange that Fushi's protesting. @kafkaoftherubble pointed out (or I pointed it out... I genuinely don't remember) that they probably don't want their friends to see anything they shouldn't as ghosts. So that's... interesting.

this is my biggest one, though still not the house sized statue of my dreams 😔 what's unfortunate is that later on I saw a much better quality statue, but then no longer had the luggage space to get it

these two are kept in a small display case on account of how tiny they are (cats would knock them into the void in an instant, never to be found again)

and these two are actually wearable pins, so they're the best ones 😍

Okay, see. You already know how A, B, C, D, E, and F are created, but maybe Future Lyns need this recap (I ain't gonna be like 2015 Lyn who did not even leave a long-lasting record):

Six tubes, each with ten genetically modified embryos, are involved in Project Ghoul/Gu.

In the first phase, every embryo has to fight the other nine embryos for survival. The embryos have only two means: fight their rivals to the death or forcefully absorb the latter. The fittest, most powerful embryo—the last one standing—will stay in the tube for incubation.

Sounds familiar? That's because this technique is based on traditional Chinese +/ Japanese folk magic called 蛊毒。 The Wikipedia page linked has a detailed process of how "the strongest venomous magic" can be cultivated according to Gudu. It's also a method to cultivate antibiotics! Neat.

The leader of the project has a Chinese background (or whatever made-up culture inspired by the Chinese culture. Really, kinda don't have much thought about it yet). That background is in the undertone of the project, including the name: the "Gu" in Project Gu is from the word "蛊"。

(The actual Chinese name should be 人蛊计划, "Human Gu Project")

Project Ghoul is its "internationally known" name; the surviving embryo is called a Ghoul. Because puns are funny!... But also because the experiment subjects echo a creature from pre-Islamic Arabic folklore, "Ghul." Researchers see a Ghoul as a flesh-eating human because their first "diet" was the other embryos they shared in the tubes.

Like the most famous ghul in Arabic folklore, the Ghouls are on the female end of the sex spectrum. Except for one, anyway.

Unfortunately, Tube B, C, and D were a failure. The struggle between embryos was lethal, and the survivors of B, C, and D died shortly after. Hence, they never have anything they love or hate to do. They simply never got to live enough to have that.

💚 - What is your OC’s gender identity and sexuality?

Ada is mediocre at her core. There is nothing particularly exciting about her appearance or traits, especially if compared to the other two surviving Ghouls... and even other humans.

Ada is female. She's an inept straight.

By "inept," I mean she doesn't seem to charm anyone that way (per her admission), doesn't know how to socialize with other genders that well, and doesn't know if she has charisma or how to improve her charisma. She just doesn't possess rizz (per her admission). You can say she's Asa without Yoru.

It's frustrating for Ada to find out she isn't aromantic. A kind blind boy had befriended her that one time; it was hard to determine if it was a youth's idea of a joke, a genuine relationship, something done out of pity, or a "we can try to get along and see if actual love sparked" situation à la arranged marriage—but they dated for a while.

Ada had felt genuine romantic feelings for the boy and had grieved when he died slipping off a banana peel and tumbling down the stairs leading to a busy road. Even if the stairs didn't kill him, the oncoming truck certainly sealed the deal. A new construction began shortly after, and rails and walls were installed in that town. Thanks to this new infrastructure, only Blind Boy was ever transported to another world to become an all-seeing seer by being able to read the script of a story, therefore never falling victim to banana peels again.

The point is, Ada simply isn't aromantic. Above all else, she yearns to be loved and for a person to belong to, which is why her inept straight-ness hurts. She believes the only person who could even love and accept her is someone who's passionately, romantically in love with her. She often fantasizes about the dead boy secretly wanting to be with her for the rest of his life if not for that fucking banana peel, but the Others have waaaaay less faith in that.

Hey, at least she's asexual. Dodge the femcel bullet!

🍎 - What is the OC’s relationship w/their parents like? (do they have parents? How about their "creators?")

Every researcher on Project Gu is technically their caretaker, but the Lead Researcher (LR) is considered the "real" parent.

(1) Ada

Ada has no relation with LR because, before F goes missing, LR has no fucking idea "A" survived.

Prior to their lab being destroyed by anti-Ghoul activists/terrorists, A was constantly near death after her Pyrrhic victory against other embryos, so most people didn't really think much about her. The team hastily salvaged E (a fetus) and F (still an embryo) and left for safety; nobody really thought A would live.

A (fetus) survived long enough until a pair of disillusioned ex-researchers discovered it while scavenging for documents after the coast was clear. They brought A home and incubated it further out of curiosity, and to their surprise, A grew up. These people were her first adopted parents.

They were pretty good teachers and parent figures, but they never planned to keep her for long—they believed they were not equipped to train and raise a human weapon and feared being found out by their old research team and LR. When A was 5, they gave her away to a foster home.

To win emotional appeals from voters, an aspiring politician and his wife made a big show of visiting the foster home and choosing one child to adopt. He picked A—his aide had told him that the child was given away by researchers who used to be involved in Project Gu, and the politician thought she might be politically useful someday. Just like that, this politician and his wife became A's second adoptive parents. They named her "Arete" when she told them her name was "A."

Arete's new parents were decent toward her—and she liked them enough—until the wife gave birth to a pair of twins. Arete became sidelined very quickly and showed up less and less with the family. Then two things happened: Arete was found talking to herself all the time. She also sees ghosts and macabre creatures when there aren't any. It was the subject of tabloids and rumors before culminating in an incident that left her parents humiliated at a state dinner.

Her relationship with her parents deteriorated. They started to call her "A" again, distancing themselves from her and giving her just the bare minimum of care. When she was 18, they got her to be emancipated but told her to remove any connection she had with the family, including changing her name. So, A just grabbed a name she found on a book or something and forgo a last name altogether.

(2) Emily

Emily enjoys an affectionate relationship with LR and the rest of the team. Everyone coddles her because she's the success story of Project Gu and is genuinely as impressive and competent as the Ghouls were supposed to be. In public, Project Gu was stated to have only one success, "E." That success brought a ton of research funding and a sterling reputation to the researchers who participated, which made them love her even more.

Without F in the picture, Emily is the princess. LR tolerates her spoiled brat's attitude and usually allows her everything she desires, including acknowledging the human name she had given herself despite insisting they had already given her "a name."

(3) F

F is LR's true golden child. He's the secret 6th Ghoul that not even Emily and many on the research team know. LR treats him as their greatest success and legacy. Nonetheless, they're very guarded about his existence. They're controlling of him and do all they can to make sure F obeys them, as F is a psychic and the most powerful Ghoul. He's their trump card.

F doesn't return LR's fervor. He respects them and treats them well, but he's rather distant. He also treats other researchers in the know about him similarly. F had tried training himself to dampen his psychic empathy however ways he can to avoid being overwhelmed and pained by conflicting emotional states, but that caused him to be aloof to his "parent."

Nonetheless, until he went missing, he defers to LR's commands. He is also the only one who responds to the name LR gave him.

Subfolder: Extra Name Lore Related to LR:

LR believes themself to be the parent of all 6 Ghouls, so they gave them names displaying their well wishes. Unfortunately, they see the Ghouls as weapons and not people, so their wishes are... well.

A: 碍(ài) "hinder, obstruct"

B: 别(bié) "split, break apart"

C: 袭(xí) "sneak attack"

D: 毒(dú) "poison"

E: 扼(è) "chokehold, control"

F: 伏(fú) "subjugate, rule"

Ada had no idea she had such a name. Emily hates it. F is the only one who will respond to it even after they run away.

When I was 3 years old I went to a preschool that had this little green crocheted crocodile finger puppet that was my absolute favorite toy to play with of all time. I named her Chelsea, because Chelsea starts with C and crocodile starts with C and more often than not wild animals in fiction aimed at kids have names that start with the same first letter as their species. I played with Chelsea every day, because she was my favorite toy, and because the other kids weren't really interested in her, and also because I eventually started to hide her in a special secret spot in the room so no one else would find her before I did. She was so beloved by me that when I graduated from preschool, my teachers gave Chelsea to me permanently, because it was clear no one else would ever love that little crochet crocodile as much as me anyway (in part because I hid her). They waited a few weeks after I graduated before doing it, too, and sent Chelsea with some post cards as if the crocodile had been on a whirlwind "travel the world" vacation before deciding to come live with me.

And Chelsea remained my favorite toy all through my childhood. There were others I loved nearly as much, like my Imperial Godzilla and the big red T.rex from the first Jurassic Park toy line and my tiny knockoff plush Charmander, but Chelsea always held the place of honor in my heart. She was my absolute favorite toy.

I kept a lot of my favorite toys through adolescence, even if social pressure eventually got me to give away a lot of them (and some, y'know, broke). That's obviously not surprising to you if you've followed my blog, since I still collect toys into my adulthood. But it's important to note because while I know I made a conscious effort to never throw out Chelsea every time I pared down my collection... at some point, she went missing.

I became aware of it when I graduated from high school. I was feeling really emotional about leaving that stage of my life and, y'know, becoming an adult and shit, and in that state I decided to find Chelsea to reassure myself that I hadn't entirely left childhood behind. But Chelsea wasn't there. No matter how hard I looked, I could not find Chelsea anyway.

And that was, like, devastating, because the only explanation was that somehow, at some point, I had accidentally tossed her out with some other "childhood junk" while trying to grow up and be responsible in my teen years. I had literally thrown away my childhood in a careless attempt to be more grown up.

Of course I knew she was just a toy - nothing more than some yarn twisted together in the loose shape of a crocodile, lifeless and soul-less and more or less worthless in the objective light of day. But she was also Chelsea, my best friend since i was three, my stalwart little pal, a source of comfort for most of my life at that point, and I had just... tossed her out! Like garbage! What kind of person was I becoming if I could do that to my best friend?

I was very visibly distraught, and my mom noticed. Being very crafty, she tried to find the pattern for Chelsea so she could crochet me a new one. The problem is, she had no idea where to find said pattern. She checked all her books of crochet patterns, and when that failed she tried the internet, but no matter how hard she looked, she found nothing.

So my mom found the next best thing.

The original Chelsea was a tiny finger puppet, and I had "met" her when I was three. Well, I was eighteen now - shouldn't Chelsea have grown too? And as has been established, this crocodile was fond of whirlwind vacations. My mom found a pattern that looked as much like Chelsea as possible while also being a much bigger crocodile, and gifted her to me before I left for college - to show that while we can't stop the flow of time or how it changes us, that doesn't mean we have to leave it behind.

And yeah, I decided to believe it. That's Chelsea now. Yeah, I know that in reality it's a completely different set of yarn made by my mom rather than... whoever it was that crocheted the original Chelsea, but then, Chelsea was never really the yarn. She was the feelings I put into the yarn, you know? So that's Chelsea, all grown up, and still my most prized toy.

Flash forward... Jesus, eighteen years, holy shit. A few weeks ago I saw a post trying to identify a different crochet crocodile pattern, and thinking it was cute, I decided to try and look for it on ebay and etsy, just to see if maybe I could find it. I didn't, but do you know what I found instead?

A very familiar crochet crocodile finger puppet. An intensely familiar one, you might say. Of course I bought it. And of course I asked the seller if, perhaps, they might have the pattern for it or know where it came from (they did not, alas). And after a few days, she showed up at my house.

She's not Chelsea, obviously. For one thing, she's far too clean and fresh looking - Chelsea was very well loved, and looked the part, while this crocodile finger puppet has definitely not endured years upon years of a child's affection. And, more importantly, she's not Chelsea because we've already established that Chelsea grew up into a bigger crochet crocodile. This has to be Chelsea's younger sister, Cici.

And if I could find another of Chelsea's kind after all these years, then maybe, with a bit of luck, I might find the pattern for her, and be able to make more of them. Fill the world with Chelseas.
