It was a few years past in middle school when you have your last proper conversation with him. You avoided Tobio as much as you can because....well....he said you should be embarass for what you have done. 'You didn't mind it' you try to say to yourself for comfort. In fact, you weren't exactly close to eachother, you were only his friend's friend. Nothing more. Nothing less.

What you didn't know is that Tobio has been eyeing you ever since that incident happened. He felt rather guilty for snapping at you whilst in a bad mood at his team mates.

His severe and intense gaze locked on yours as if he were attempting to solve a puzzle—as if he couldn’t believe that you had called him something so sweet and intimate. He gave you a curt nod as he dropped you off at your place, his hand lingering on your waist as he bid you goodnight and your name coming out softer than he intended.

He’d never admit it to anyone, but that night, he felt something stir deep inside his chest, unlike anything he’d ever felt. It wasn’t the same adrenaline he got from playing against hard teams, nor was it the same joy he felt when Karasuno proved victorious over other teams after hard-fought matches.

No, this, you, was different— something simultaneously died and was reborn inside of him when you called him “baby” that night, unlocking an emotion he never entirely understood when he heard others talk about it, but, in your presence, he understood it as if it were a practiced play.

You never pushed him to say it back, satisfied with relishing each time he said your name softly between sweet kisses or tender hugs. You weren’t here to change him. Tobio has a habit of mumbling, especially when coming down from the high of a hard match, so you could only make out bits and pieces of his greeting. You were too busy savouring how he held you as you jumped into his arms, congratulating him for a great match and winning against Karasuno’s opponent.

He gave you a tender smile, a rare sight for other people but a mainstay in your relationship, before giving you a soft kiss as he set you down gently. He had murmured your name, that’s for sure, but you couldn’t quite make it all out until you saw the look on the team’s face. Hinata’s and Tanaka’s faces, in particular, urged you to ask him as you gave Tobio a quizzical look.

“Sorry, what did you say, honey? I didn’t quite catch it,” You say, cocking your head softly to the side as his brows knit together, and a blush paints his cheeks at the name you called him.

“I.. didn’t say anything, I just said thank you—” he starts to say, his hand still resting easily on your waist, before he’s interrupted by Tanaka and Hinata running over to hug him, cooing about their friend’s heart finally growing three sizes.

“Wrong!” Tanaka yells as he hugs Tobio, circling his neck with one arm and patting his head with his other hand. “You totally just said ‘baby’! Who knew you had that sweetness inside you, Kageyama!” He teases as Hinata joins in.

“Yeah! You even said it all nice and stuff!” he adds, laughing with his senior as they mimic Tobio’s voice and cadence. “You were all like, ‘Hi, baby! Thanks so much, baby. I’m so happy you were here to watch! Mwah, mwah!!’” Both burst into laughter as they watched Tobio’s glare, waving off his muttered threat of a gruelling time next practice for them as they strode away.

The rest of the team lays off teasing him as they start walking to the locker room, but only after his seniors get their digs in. Azumane and Sugawara give him broad smiles with their thumbs up as they pass the two of you, and Tobio’s blush deepens.

“S-Sorry about them,” he says sheepishly, touching the back of his neck. "I guess it slipped out, and I’m sorry if that made you uncomfortable.” He apologizes genuinely as he looks into your eyes, hoping that his team didn’t scare you off.

You chuckle, circling your arms around his neck as you bring him down for a long kiss. “Don’t worry about it, baby,” you say, relishing the way he softens under the name, his features relaxing as he smiles against you. “You can pay me back by saying it to me so that I actually hear you this time,” you whisper, teasing him but also wanting to hear it clearly so you can store it in your memory.

He leans in close, the two of you the final people on the court as his team filters out completely, and he presses a tender kiss against your forehead. He chuckles softly at your request, an attempt to wave you off, but the glint in his eye tells you that he’s about to indulge you anyway, “Alright, alright.” 

He gives you a slow, deep kiss, savouring the heat of your lips against his— a sensation he swears he will never get used to. It always sends that electric jolt throughout his body better than any perfect set or victory. He pulls back, soothing your hair and smiling, “Thank you for coming today, baby. I think I play better when I know you’re watching me.”

He presses a chaste kiss against your lips, “You’re like.. a guardian angel, baby. Did you know that? Maybe I should start calling you angel instead, hm?” He says against you, and his sudden shift in demeanour causes you to shiver.

You nod, running your hand through the hair on the nape of his neck. “I think that’d be great, baby,” You whisper, a blush painting your cheeks as the thought of him calling you “angel” crosses your mind.

“Is that so? Alright, ang—”

He’s cut short by Daichi’s voice ringing clearly in the empty gym as he opens the metal gym door, searching for Tobio. “Kageyama! Meeting!” He yells out from across the gym.

“Now, Kageyama, we already waited five minutes for you. Let’s go!” Daichi calls, the heavy slam of the doors signalling his impatience.

Tobio leans in close, “Another time, baby.” He kisses your forehead as he starts to walk towards their locker room.

The door swings open again. “Kageyama, c’mon! Or do you want me to call you baby, too?” Daichi teases as he waits for Tobio at the door, watching him run up to his captain, apologizing half-heartedly for his tardiness.

You laugh as he teases him, knowing that Tobio’s doing his best not to glare at Daichi. You laugh even harder when you hear their bickering.

“None of you are allowed to call me baby! That’s special, and I’m not about to let you dumbasses ruin that name for me!”

“Alright, we’ll call you King again, how’s that sound?”

You shake your head as you gather your things, knowing that this teasing from the team is far from over as you make your way to wait outside their locker room— giddy at the idea of hearing him call you baby again.

“Oh great, can you help me get my back?” You asked, appearing from behind the door, swimsuit on and sunscreen in hand.

“Uhh babe what are you planning to do? Go swimming?” Hinata questioned, taking the sunscreen from your hands and rubbing it in your back as you continued to rub it into your growing belly.

“Nope, I was thinking we could play some volleyball! It’s been so long and I know you are just aching to get back on the sand babe,” you confessed as your husband stared blankly at you.

“Umm sweetie, I’d love to play volleyball with you but umm, can you even play in your condition?” He questioned, ripping off his shirt and preparing to head to the beach.

You giggled, “well actually I was thinking more like you play volleyball and I lay on the beach. How does that sound?”

Kageyama sighed. He knew you were only trying to help but how could he get it through your mind that he only wanted you to be safe and not get hurt.

“I appreciate it Yn but please wait for me next time ok? You’re really pregnant right now and the last thing I want is for your or our baby to get hurt ok?”

You nodded, admitting the stubborn man in front of you was correct.

As he sat down to eat he realized that this wasn’t an ordinary meal, nope. This meal contained his favorite plum flavored snack crackers. He stared at the crackers and back to you, his eyes now narrowing.

“Ok what did ya do?” Hoshiumi asked as you stood there, a fake look of stunned offense in your face as you ignored your husbands questions.

“What do you mean? Can’t I make a meal for my favorite husband ever?” You questioned as Hoshiumi remained skeptical.

“Well I guess, it’s just that the last time you did this, you told me you were pregnant so obviously I’m a bit nervous Yn.”

You waved your husband off, “well I can’t possibly be pregnant again if I’m already pregnant can I?”

Seems calm but is internally freaking out.

Kenma is a person known for his laidback nature but when it comes to you he can't help the way his heart races and stomach twists into knots.

It was the same when he asked you out, hell he probably wouldn't have even asked you out if it weren't for Kuroo's interventions.

He almost considered asking his rooster-haired friend for help this time too, but Kenma knew Kuroo would never let him live it down.

He planned everything out- you were coming back home from a work trip that weekend and would come home to a great dinner after which Kenma would propose to you.

It was simple but meaningful, just like every other aspect of your relationship.

But Kenma was so worried about messing things up or saying the wrong thing or losing the ring or- well, everything really, that even his streamers knew something was up.

Thankfully you were too preoccupied with work to recognise his nervous demeanour, and come Friday night Kenma had successfully prepared everything just the way he wanted it.

You probably knew something was up the second you walked into your shared apartment to dimmed lights and dinner.

Kenma wasn't usually the romantic kind, the fact that he showed up to the airport with flowers for you was surprising enough, but this was even more so.

By the time the two of you made it to dessert Kenma was so nervous he almost made the ring box fall, but still mustered the courage to calm himself down and drop to one knee before you.

You were silent for the briefest of seconds and Kenma could have sworn he felt his dinner rise up to his throat at the thought of a silent rejection, but then you were leaving your chair to kiss him with a series of 'yes' leaving your lips.

The two of you spent the rest of the night enjoying the cake Kenma had ordered in each other's arms, with you constantly admiring the diamond glittering on your ring finger.

Kuroo Tetsurou

Planned this moment the second the two of you started dating.

Kuroo never thought he was the traditional type of guy but that was before you came along.

He always knew you had to be his, but once you started dating Kuroo found that just wasn't enough for him. He needed you to be his permanently.

He let a year go by as your boyfriend because Kuroo wanted to know you were as serious as him, but on your first anniversary he couldn't help but pop the question.

"I want to spend soo many more years with you, Tetsu."

"What about the rest of your life?"

You looked pleasantly surprised as you watched Kuroo drop to his knee before you.

You were at a restaurant in one of Japan's tallest skyscrapers, but even with the entire city on display below you, the two of you only had eyes for each other.

You let out a breathless laugh as you nodded and reached your hand towards Kuroo, the sight eliciting a round of applause from the other people at the restaurant.

He couldn't keep his hand off of you for the rest of the night, always having an arm around your waist or shoulders.

You were finally his. Not just as a temporary girlfriend, but as his fiancé and soon to be wife. And Kuroo couldn't be happier.

He sent you Kenma a picture of your hand with the ring on it almost as soon as said yes, only receiving a thumbs up in response since Kenma was in a game.

Diachi Sawamura

Had the perfect proposal planned but ended up asking the question too soon.

Ever since he bought the engagement ring Daichi has been roaming around the city with it in the seat pocket of his car. He couldn't keep it at home since you could find it, and anywhere else was too unsafe.

Daichi promised himself he would only take out that ring after the two of you made it to the Tokyo Skytree, but it was raining so heavily you found yourselves stuck in the car.

You insisted on waiting until the rain slowed down before driving again so Daichi pulled into an empty parking lot to wait it out. But as one hour turned into two the two of you found yourselves lazing around the backseat with defeated sighs.

This was supposed to be your perfect day. The day you finally became Diachi's fiancé. But instead here you were stuck in a random parking lot with no sign of clear skies anytime soon.

"You know, I could get used to this." "Used to the rain?" "No Diachi-" you let out a small laugh as you shifted to his side of the seat, wrapping your arms around his neck.

"I mean us. You know, you, me- spending days together, going on roadtrips. Just- being with you."

"Marry me." Diachi didn't even realise he let the question slip until he saw your eyes widen in surprise.

The sight made him let out a small curse but he still managed to reach for the conveniently hidden ring box and present it to you.

It was safe to say Daichi's previous frustration at the rain completely evaporated the second he slipped the ring on your fingers.

This wasn't the perfect proposal he had envisioned, but he was happy nonetheless.

Kageyama Tobio

Blurts it out at a random moment.

Kageyama didn't even have the engagement ring on him. Why would he when this was just a random Sunday spent lazing around his apartment with you?

He had never thought today of all days would be when he decided to finally pop the question.

It had been almost a month since Kageyama purchased that ring. A month since he placed it in his bedroom safe with a promise to propose to you after his big match the next day.

But one match turned into another and then another and before he knew it Kageyama found himself making endless excuses to delay the moment.

It was too rainy, you seemed too tired after dinner, he had a match the next day, the day didn't 'feel right'. Kageyama had probably gone through every excuse he was capable of coming up with.

Yet he still wouldn't admit the true reason for his delay.

Kageyama Tobio was scared.

But it was hard to remember his fears during such a calm Sunday with his fingers softly wading through your hair as the two of you watched one of the matches he needed to analyse.

Or rather, he watched it. You couldn't see a fraction of the TV with the way your face was buried in his neck, but Kageyama had given up on trying to convince you to pay attention.

"Tobio~ how long are we going to stay like this?" "The rest of our lives." "You would have to marry me for that to happen."

This wasn't the first time you teased him like that, but Kageyama was barely paying attention to the conversation and found himself replying before he could think twice. "Then marry me."

His eyes widened comically the second he realised what he just said, but you were already shifting on his lap, a soft 'what' falling from your lips.

He left the room shortly after that but returned with the ring box in his hand. Once you accepted Tobio felt like a sudden pressure had been lifted from his chest.

The two of you spent the rest of the day cuddling and discussing what would happen next.

Miya Atsumu

Was so nervous Osamu almost considered doing it for him.

Unlike the rest Atsumu wanted a more domestic proposal from the start. No grand gesture or fancy dinner- just the two of you sharing a box of Onigiri, like you always had. Like you were going to for the rest of your lives.

He was so scared about accidentally eating the one with the ring that Atsumu barely touched his box, instead watching as you made your way to the last one- an Onigiri with seaweed dyed red and shaped like a heart.

It took Atsumu forever to learn how to make your favourite Onigiris but even longer to perfect the heart. Thankfully, Osamu was there to help him through the entire thing.

"It has a special filling."

You nodded vaguely at his words, holding one chopstick in each hand to split the Onigiri open. And there, sitting in the centre covered in a plastic wrap, was the most etheral engagement ring you had ever seen.

Atsumu said your name as he reached for the bento box to fish out the ring, but he didn't think you heard him until he got down on one knee before you.

"Marry me?"

Oikawa knew if he was going to propose to you it had to be something special, but he also knew something too grand ruin the moment's intimacy.

When the two of started discussing moving in together he just knew that was the perfect opportunity.

Oikawa thought you could just move into his apartment, after all it had a spare room, but you wanted a separate place from your apartments, a place that would be 'our home' as you put it, not just yours or his.

You pooled your money to purchase a furnished apartment that was one block away from your office and right in front of his training center.

That was when Oikawa knew he had to propose to you. He bought the ring the day you signed the lease- which left a dent in his bank account but he managed.

Come moving day Oikawa almost felt like he was going to burst from excitement.

He planned to wait until dinner but when the two of you were standing by the bay window watching a random family walk across the street, Oikawa couldn't help but cave. It just seemed like the perfectly serene moment to pop the question.

"Think that would be nice some day." "What?" Oikawa turned to you at the question with a small grin.

"You know, starting a family." "You want to have children with me?"

"One day, yes, but for now, I want to lay the groundwork for that plan." Oikawa dropped to his knee as he spoke, his smile only widening as he watched you gasp excitedly. "Marry me?"

It was something you expected because he couldn't be any more obvious about having a crush on you

However, it took way longer than you thought for him to actually stand in front of you

Like this boy have no idea how painfully obvious he was being and everyone had to sit by the side and watch him figure out his feelings in real time

This idiot couldn't differentiate between simply liking someone and a crush

When he finally realised what he felt for you wasn't platonic, he went straight for it

He caught you after class, confessed really loudly

You felt like everyone on that floor was able to hear this idiot's confession of his love for you

He definitely was nervous, considering how loud he was being

When you accepted his confession, he was so happy that he jumped up and hugged you so tightly that you felt like your ribs were going to collapse

There was also a very audible yelp from him from the happiness

OIKAWA honestly wouldn't believe that those poems were written by you at first. When you excitedly gave him some of your poems to read, he thought they would be cutesy love poems dedicated to him and only him, not this. "What...? Are they bad?" You seemed worried at his wide-eyed expression. "Baby, are you ...okay?" He asked out of the blue, the genuine worry in his tone knocking the wind out of you. "Hahaha, it feels so weird hearing you say that...!" You tried your best to not let any more laughter escape you. "What?! Am I not allowed to be a good boyfriend now?!" He was offended by your reaction, slightly clutching the poems in his hands. "No, it's just... unusual to see you this concerned about me." You said with a half-smile. You had gotten so used to Oikawa's light-hearted flirty attitude, that you sort of forgot just what kind of person he is. "Just what do you think of me?" He sighed, suddenly pulling you in for a hug. "You know you can tell me anything, right?" All you did was nod, feeling relieved that he understands.

AKAASHI 's eyes would widen gradually as he read the contents of your poem. You gave him 5, but he already feels horrible, and he's only on the first one. He almost doesn't want to believe you wrote this. He becomes worried about you, doing a deep analysis on your poem since he wants to understand every part before approaching you with his worries. The next day when you greet him happily, he simply hugs you. "I'm sorry for not noticing..." is all he says, and though it takes you a bit to understand what he means, you feel overwhelmingly relieved he isn't judging you for what happened. "It's okay, I didn't tell you, you couldn't have known..." you assured him, knowing your boyfriend's tendency to overthink, he would beat himself up if you said nothing. "Next time, please please tell me about things like this. I can't stand the thought of you suffering alone." He squeezed you tighter.

KAGEYAMA is confused. Reading and understanding poems was never his strong suit, but yours are especially confusing to him. You laughed a little at his concentration face, and he handed you your poem back, still confused. "What does this even mean...?" He asked, eyebrows furrowed. "Ahaha, don't worry about it too much... I wrote it like that on purpose." You made your poem vague and messy on purpouse, something you knew Kageyama probably couldn't understand properly. Awkward silence filled the room, and Kageyama silently hugged you all of a sudden. "I don't get why, but I got the random urge to hug you just now..." he mumbled silently, squeezing you in his grip. He must have noticed the sadness behind your voice and just doesn't know how to properly comfort you. "You said that out loud, Tobio." You smiled. "Shit..."

BOKUTO 's smile drops suddenly as he reads your poem. When he found you writing it, he insisted that he must read it no matter what. But what in the world was this? Why were you writing about all this sad stuff? "Babe...." his hands trembled slightly as he looked at you while you were smiling as you usually do. "Why would you say that about yourself?" He was very very saddened right now, and you weren't sure who's going to end up comforting who. You felt your bones being crushed in his impulsive hug. "It isn't true!! You're literally the best person I know!! So don't you dare say that again!!" He put his forearm over his eyes, tears stinging at his eyes. He has to be strong for you, he can't cry now. "Kou-" "I've decided! From today on, you're getting complimented every day!! No excuses!!" He looked very determined.

IWAIZUMI understood the content of your poems very well. And it angered him. Why didn't you tell him this happened?! "Idiot." He let the word escape his lips, clutching the paper in his hands. "You should have told me. I would have protected you." He looked to you. You weren't scared since you knew that your boyfriend was genuinely concerned right now, and that was just his way of expressing it. "Dammit, why do you always insist on keeping your problems to yourself..." he pulled you to his side, looking ahead. "I'll tell you next time..." you looked down to the ground. "You better. Or I'll beat you up." He huffed, but you saw the relief flashing in his eyes. He didn't really show it, but somehow, you could tell his heart sank when he read it.

kageyama hadn't been too considerate about others, that is until he met you. everybody thought it was because of hinata and the team he became kinder but the credits were all yours. love really changes people.

he first saw you shopping with your friends at coach ukai's shop after school. he recognized your uniform, after all it was his school's - he ought to have noticed it, but couldn't remember your face. of course he was too shy to go up to you, so he preferred to admire you from afar. when one of your friends nudged you and pointed at him, he immediately turned his back and started running away with bright red cheeks.

of course you knew who he was, and how much of jerk he can be (at least that's what people said.) after you caught him staring, you decided to talk to him later that week. it was hard to catch him alone, always busy with practice or dealing with hinata but you managed to find him next to the vending machine, drinking his milk.

"are you really drinking plain milk?" you asked with a smile and he definitely looked surprised to see you. he quickly nodded his head and turned back to most likely escape again but stopped when you tugged at his jacket.

"i saw you staring that day, you know? why?" his cheeks had grown a pinkish colour already, not used to someone giving him so much positive (he'd like to think so) attention.

"i just, thought you were... you're really pretty and i saw you were from karasuno so i..." he couldn't put words together because of your intense but kind gaze, which made him feel warmer on his cheeks. his hands felt sweaty, he wasn't used to feeling like this.

"i'm y/n, if you'd like to meet." you smiled and reached your hand out. he looked at your hand for a few seconds, trying to register a response.

"kayegama tobio." he shook your hand and finally smiled, even if it was very little. you saw it and that's what mattered.

after that interaction, you were always around him somehow. you tried out for the volleyball team but failed, so you asked him to teach you volleyball after practice. you always asked him to eat with you at lunch and eventually became friends with hinata and the rest of the team through tobio. yeah, you also started to use his first name with him after a few weeks. he loved hearing you say it so casually. he never thought that you liked him or anything. you were just being friendly, that was all.

"tobioooo!" you squished his face after calling for him too many times. "you keep zoning out, have you been sleeping well?" you actually sounded worried about him. having someone that seriously cares about him felt great.

"yeah, i was just thinking about something." he mumbled under his breath.

"was it about how much you like me?" you grinned. his eyes widened, "no! why would you think that?!" he said louder than he would want to and closed his mouth with his hand.

"haha!! look at your cheeks! you're so red right now, i was just kidding. relax." you patted his shoulder and giggled at his reaction. see, only a friend. that's what you thought of him.

"were you, really just kidding..?" he asked, not looking at your face and choosing to look at the floor instead.

"yeah? why?" you furrowed your brows.

"because, i don't want to ruin our friendship but, i think i like you. like like you." he talked, voice barely above a whisper.

"what?" he was already reggetting his decision. "did you mean that? are you serious? that's not something to joke about." he didn't see a reason for you to blush right now. hinata was right about calling him oblivious all the time. he nodded his head, still staring blankly at the floor.

you touched his chin, making him flinch a little at the unexpected contact and pushed his face up to look at him in the eyes.

"i like you too." with the way you said it, so calm and straight, he thought you were the one joking.

"really?"

"yes, really! you're so stupid tobio." you smiled and pinched his cheek. "don't say that.." he pouted, making you smile.

"i was kidding. about calling you stupid, not about liking you!" he put his hand on yours that was still holding his cheek and pulled it in front of his mouth to plant a little kiss on the back of it.

"i really like you." you chuckled, "i really really like you too." his grin was wide enough to reach his ears at this point. and you both were too busy to notice hinata watching you two from afar.

"kageyama!! you finally confessed? well done bro, i'm proud of you!" he shouted happily. he had been rooting for you since the first day tobio told him about you. he was also happy he won the bet with tsukishima. (the latter didn't believe he actually confessed until he saw you two hand in hand and still grinning at each other.)
