I like that Shinichi usually attracts death to himself, like some kind of magnet. While Kaito does the opposite, preventing death from happening, mostly.

Title: All Things Bright And Beautiful
Chapters: 1/1 Rating: E
Relationship: Kudou Shinichi | Edogawa Conan/Kuroba Kaito | Kaitou Kid
Summary: A tentative peace forms between the kingdoms of Ekoda and Beika, respite from the war-ravaged months and the persecution of all things magickal. As discontent citizens and pockets of rebellions arise, it is up to the victorious Crown Prince Kaito and his political prisoner, Knight Kudo, to be the symbol of their unity and future peace.
Or, in which Kaito and Shinichi really have no business falling in love, stuck on the brink of a political firestorm, but they do so anyway.
...
(excerpt from the fic)
“Okay,” Kaito said once they were alone, “let’s get on the same page.”
Get along with him, his father had said. Kaito really didn’t want to, but he would try. No one could say he hadn’t tried.
“You know why you’re here, yes?”
Kudo didn’t pretend to misunderstand what he was saying. There was no sarcastic quip about the war and their consequent surrender. Just as immovable as he was in the court, he nodded, making the motion look as regal as the king’s.
“I’m here as a deterrent for the assassins.”
“Yes—wait, what?” Baffled, Kaito blinked at his newly appointed knight.
Assassins? What the hell was he on about? Kudo Shinichi was a political prisoner they couldn’t afford to execute! Kaito didn’t expect him to actually do any defending, Kudo was just a glorified guard in his retinue.
...
Happy Christmas @glitchedcatto!
I was your Secret Santa for this year's @dcmkkaishinevents Secret Santa 2022!
Hope you enjoy it! ^_^

Trilateralism snippet - DCMK
“Hello, Shinichi?” came Ran’s voice after two rings.
“Yo, Ran,” he replied somewhat cautiously in what should have been his normal voice.  “It’s been a while.”
“Yes, it has,” she said with a distinctly frosty bite to her tone, “hasn’t it, Shinichi?”
Oh, she is mad…  “Uh, yeah.  Sorry…” he apologized.  “I’ve been busy on that case…”
“Shinichi…” she sighed, “it’s always about that case!”
“I know, Ran,” he admitted unhappily, “and I’m sorry…”
Ran sighed once again, deeply.  “Can’t you just… drop it?” she asked with a wistful, hopeful tone.
If only I could! he thought with sincere longing.  Instead, he sighed this time and replied quietly, “You know I can’t, Ran,” and his heart cracked just that little bit more.
“Yes, you’ve told me,” she said, and Shinichi could hear a trace of bitterness in her voice.  “It’s confidential and you’re not allowed to talk about it.  I get it.  I just…”  She trailed off, releasing yet another sigh.
“What?” he prodded when it became apparent that Ran was not going to finish that thought.
“Never mind,” she said dismissively.
“Oi, you can’t do that to a detective!” Shinichi complained.  “That’s like teasing Kaitou KID with a gem he hasn’t snatched before!”
Shinichi could hear the smirk in her voice.  “Would serve you right, you mystery geek.”
“Ran…” he wheedled.
“Not telling, Shinichi,” she said with a touch of stubborn vindictiveness in her tone.  “You’re the detective, so deduce away.  Anyhow, I need to go.  I’ve a study group to go to.”
The abruptness of the change in topic caught him off guard.  “Oh,” he muttered.  “Okay then.  Bye, Ran.”
“Take care, Shinichi,” she said, and despite her annoyance, there was still warmth beneath it all.
Hanging up, Shinichi stared at his phone, feeling distinctly alone in that moment.  The feeling had blindsided him when Ran had mentioned needing to attend a study group.  It made him realize that Ran had a life of her own, one independent of anything he did.
It made him realize that even though she still clung to him, Ran was moving on.
The phone clattered and bounced off the wooden floor, dropping from nerveless, twitching fingers, though he made no move to pick it up from where it quivered to a stop.  Shinichi took a shuddering breath, trying to tame the sudden upwelling of panic, pain, sadness, and heartache.  “Ran,” he breathed brokenly.
He glanced at his constantly moving hand before curling it into a fist, his head bowing in resignation.  Perhaps, he thought, clenching his jaw as his eyes slid closed, perhaps it’s time I let Ran go.
The hope for an antidote had grown dimmer with the passage of time despite Ai’s best efforts.  Shinichi had been Conan for the last three years of his life.  He should have been in college—and yet here he was, recompleting primary school.  Intellectually, he knew he had missed out—was still missing out—on a lot of landmark experiences that marked the passage from adolescent to adult.  Going to college was but one of them; dating was another.  While technically speaking, Shinichi had been taking care of himself since he was fourteen, many of the things that he had already been doing were what society saw as responsibilities that were taken up upon going to university.  It was more symbolic than anything for him, but it was a missed milestone all the same.
I can’t make them up—I’ll never be able to make them up, he finally admitted to himself.  It was time he faced the truth that had been a constant specter that he did not want to admit had been hovering over his shoulder ever since he had been forced to take the poison.  I can’t ever catch up to Ran and Sonoko and Sera, Hakuba and Hattori and Kuroba… maybe mentally or emotionally, but I am physically incapable of it.
Ai had never said a single word about stopping her search for a cure, but he could read her disappointment and frustration in every failed trial.  A single bead of liquid trailed from one closed eye as he finally made his decision with a shattered feeling in his chest and a leaden weight in his gut.  He chuckled sardonically, the sound mocking and empty.  “I’ll call you when you have the time to say my goodbyes, Ran,” he whispered into the still air.
His blue eyes took in the room that had once been hers but was now his when she had moved out to be closer to campus.  He imagined all of her belongings in place of where his now were and felt a deep pang in his breast as he purposely broke his own heart.  Considering how Haibara’s been struggling with the formula, it’s probably a safe bet that Kudou Shinichi is no more.
Goodbye, Ran.
I love you.

hello hello!! i recently got into magic kaito and i remember you talking about genderbend kaito ages ago and i have been rotating the concept in my brain the entire time ive been watching bc the idea is just so good. ive been imagining the montage of kaito putting on the kid costume the first time and she dramatically cuts her hair short in the workshop. anyways, hope you're having a good one!
also also! my other thought on genderbend kaito is like. obv canon kaito has frustrations of trying to live up to his dad. and i think genderbend kaito would have this additional frustration of trying to live up to her dad's legacy, but also feeling like she's denied it simply because she's a girl, if that make sense. and then also shoving past that because she's going to be kaitou kid, no matter what anyone says if they found out the truth about her
!!! I still think about my genderbend Kaito every once in a while. One of these days I'll finish the fic I'm almost done with exploring how Kaiya perceives and is perceived. The dramatic hair cutting scenes is still one of my favorite mental images in my head, it's both visually appealing but also a symbolic gesture of the first (but not the last) sacrifice they'd have to make to be Kaitou Kid. I really think it's a neat idea to explore and please hmu if you ever want to discuss it one on one.

WIP ask game! Top Sneaky!!!!
uehehehehhehe
The premise of the AU is pretty straightforward: Shinichi knows magic is real, while Kaito is the skeptic.
The way it works in practice is: Shinichi's transformation into Conan is a result of a curse instead of a drug, with the Black Org being more akin to a cult than a mafia. And, although Kaito still takes up the mantle of KID just like in canon, in this universe he gave up on his dream of being a magician shortly after his father's death. (Instead, he's getting an engineering degree. He's bored and aimless outside of heists.)
One of the aspects I'm most excited about is some really intertwined mythological symbolism that I want to work into a prophecy, but trying to make everything that I want actually fit is just sort of making things more difficult for myself lol rip
And I keep getting stuck on what direction to actually take the plot in general, so I only have a couple of chapters written so far and even those are kind of a mess imo. (´・ω・`)
Anyway, here's a generous snippet from a section that I like:
-
“Haibara, I think I was right about him.”
“Good morning to you, too, Kudou-kun,” she replied without looking up from her desk.
“He was avoiding the subject entirely,” Shinichi continued as if she hadn’t spoken, depositing his bag on the floor and leaning absently against the corner of the lab bench. “You said yourself that the moonlight thing was suspiciously occult, but when I pressed him for details he would only say he didn’t want anyone else getting involved.”
Haibara swiveled her chair around, and Shinichi caught a glimpse of half-melted candles surrounding a bowl emitting a worrisome amount of dark green vapor. “That doesn’t mean what he’s hiding is necessarily magic, let alone related to the Black Organization,” she said. Shinichi started to protest, but she went on, “And even if he is in the know, there’s no way to be sure he’s trustworthy.”
Shinichi took off his glasses to rub at his eyes. “We’ve been over this. If KID really has been keeping his knowledge of the supernatural a secret all this time, then his actions up to now would point to him being on our side. Why would he keep putting himself at risk with these high-profile heists? Why would he only use ordinary stage magic tricks? The most likely answer is that he’s taunting someone. Trying to get their attention.”
Haibara only crossed her arms, unmoved. Stubborn, Shinichi growled internally.
“And,” he continued, “if he’s looking for some kind of magic gemstone, which I’m now all but certain he is, then he’s probably trying to reach it before that same enemy gets their hands on it.”
“And you think that enemy happens to be our crows.”
“You don’t?”
She stood up, flicking some kind of powder into the bowl that caused the green steam to fizzle out with a pwoof, and crossed the length of the lab until they were standing nearly nose to nose. She stood a few centimeters taller than him now, having hit her growth spurt sooner, and she never failed to use that fact to her advantage during an argument. “I think even if Kaitou KID is after them, he’s too much of a wildcard to rely on if things get dicey—and they will, if you plan on taking the fight to the Organization. He’s a lone wolf, Kudou-kun, not to mention a wanted criminal. If he doesn’t want your help now, what makes you think he’ll cooperate when you insist on sticking your nose even further into his business?”
You don’t know him like I do, Shinichi almost said, but he realized how that would sound and thought better of it. Instead, he pulled himself up as tall as his grade-schooler height would allow and insisted, “If we’re on the same side, he has no reason to hinder our operations. I still think we should offer to share intel.”
Haibara looked dangerously close to rolling her eyes, but she backed down. “It’s not like I can stop you once you’ve made up your mind.”
Shinichi frowned. “You know I wouldn’t suggest this plan unless I really thought it was our best option, right?”
She sighed. “I do know that. And I know you’d prefer to convince me to agree rather than go against my wishes.” She leveled him a serious look. “But, Kudou-kun, there are some subjects where I think even you have blind spots. If you’re going to insist on getting that thief involved, at least do your best to not let your feelings get in the way.”
He blinked. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”
She really did roll her eyes this time.

okay so. I know very little about detective Conan except for stuff I’ve absorbed from tumblr etc. and I see you post about it a lot and I am Intrigued now. would you recommend and where should I start?
as it's been one of my all time favourite things for years i think i WOULD recommend it, but also with the warning of, this is over 1000 chapters and the plot progresses at a snail's pace.
as for where you start, i would recommend probably either the first chapter of the manga or the episode one remake - which is titled this on gogoanime
Tumblr media
there's also this helpful episode guide which can show you what's anime original (and therefor obviously not gonna have any plot) and also what kind of important characters show up (ie. KID, hattori, black org, FBI): https://www.detectiveconanworld.com/wiki/Anime
(it also says the corresponding manga chapters, which is helpful)
i think a lot of the earlier mysteries were a lot more interesting so honestly i'd really suggest watching most of the earlier manga adapted ones. the animation might be old but from what i remember they slapped so hard.
moonlight sonata murder case is especially important to conan's character development. you'd be better off reading the manga version of the strange person hunt murder case cause it's actually VERY important to the plot and the anime fucked it up. kogoro's class reunion murder case lets kogoro be clever and solve something without conan tranquilising him (YEAH. that's,, a THING that i just realised u wouldn't know about. good luck deciphering what that means with no context.)
mountain villa bandaged man murder case isn't really relevant to the plot but i remember it after YEARS of not having watched it as possibly the scariest episode and being the epitome of 'ffs detective conan doesn't do scary murder like it used to' so do with that what you will.
so yeah, i would honestly recommend trying out some of the earlier grittier episodes (cause DAMN murder used to be so much darker in this series) and skipping anything anime original. if it doesn't have any of the symbols next to the episode on the episode guide i sent u then you probably won't miss anything if u skip.
uhhh also u can come and ask more if u want and this doesn't give u enough info.
there are a lot of really cool characters but some of them take a while to get introduced. hattori is introduced at the end of season 2 (he ends up basically becoming conan's bestie), kaitou KID near the end of season 3 (he's a magician jewel thief and he has his own anime called magic kaito 1412, so i'd really suggest checking that out if u like him. it's A LOT shorter than detco), and haibara near the end of season 5 (she is SO SO important to the plot). there are others?? but they're a lot later in and just don't register as much in my mind as a detective conan stable as haibara and hattori. maybe that's cause those two are actually his closest friends???

Don! Don! The festival's back in town!
Zenryoku Zenkai! Don Momotaro Matsuri da ze! Momo Monday! It's a riotously good time, Don!-cha know? It's the Don! of a new era! Not just for our Donbura Dudes, but for our working relationship going forward! Hahahahahahahahahaha~!
Spoilers, I guess...
--Man... if only Momoi Tarou didn't have the most common names in the Japanese history. If he were any more of an every man, he'd probably be called John Q. Public Doe-Smith.
-Seems like Don Kaito's invested in Haruka.
-Don' forget to have a good time, eh?
-Ah, a fellow neurodivergent. I feel you already, Saruhara-san.
-Ah, a fellow skin-care expert. I get you already, Shinichi-kun.
-Mmmmm... dinner.
-Ah, a fellow NEET. I no longer envy you, Hakase.
-Uroleucon nigrotuberculatum...? ...isn't that goldenrod or something? Does that help with sleep?
-What kind of asshole just leaves their phone there?
-NEVER MIND THAT, WHAT KIND OF ASSHOLE STEALS LIGHTS
-Aw... poor kids.
-So, SaruBrother's good with kids. Monke power.
-Spring...
-Seems like Haruka's hit a block. I feel it.
-Fucking Momoi Tarou.
-Hello, creepy mailman!
-Ah, Yuriko's her auntie's name... it's a very lovely name, one I use for a very important OC for a project I'm making far in the future has that name as well. I see it pop up a lot in Japanese media, but never for like a main character, if that makes sense. Off the top of my head, there's a member of Honoka's science club in Futari wa PreCure, Dan Hibiki's sister in Street Fighter who parodies Yuri Sakazaki from Art of Fighting, the human disguise of Lilith in the first Shin Megami Tensei game, and the voice actress for Ritsuko Asagi from Evangelion. I know that last one isn't a character, but most of the ones I've found on Anime Characters Database are from eroge, and that's not exactly suitable for this liveblog series where I talk about children's tokusatsu programs and say a bunch of naughty curse words like fuck, shit, ass, dick, bitch, smurf, muffin, and hobknocker.
-Ah fuck, dishes. I hate doing the dishes.
-Oh screw you!
-Man, I wish my mailman would.
-Not Kurokuma. Shirokuma.
-Oh wow, a police person apologizing for doing something wrong under false pretenses? Now I know this is fiction.
-Hey, Tarou. You wanna do my dishes for me?
-I guess Kurokuma really likes lamps. Is he related to Lord Dona'tor?
-Why would he deliver to himself, Haruka?
-Polar Bear Man.
-"Uhhhh, okay."
-Man, this performance for Don Kaito is like night and day from Zenkai Kaito. Good job, Kiita Komagine, that takes insane talent.
-Funny Mailman Do Nice Thing.
-Ohhhhh, shooot, there's Kurokuma.
-I deliver darkness.
-Give me your fucking lamp.
-Oh... uh... you must be Sononi. You're uh... quite a gal. I hear your actress is part Burmese?
-...little personal space there.
-Haruka's having a rough day.
-Ohhhhh, creepy! Fuck those guys!
-OHHHHH Damn.
-Oh great, the guy on the couch is a King player in Tekken 7. Because of Tekken's generally great record with match-up balance, it's hard to tell you to get your ass stomped by a specific character, but I can say "I hope you get your ass beat by that doctor's kid from the Jackal Vistamp episode in Revice."
-Damn girl!
-She stronk.
-Yeah, we meet again.
-Guess he ain't chattin' Tarou Momoi.
-Delivery folk are truly treated terribly throughout the world. A certain egghead has tried to divert our attention from that...
-A symbolic revenge. I can dig that kind of storytelling. Hell yeah, Inoue.
-Fuckers took the lights. Can't have shit in Japan.
-OH MOMOI TAROU!
-"You never asked!"
-Guess Kurokuma noticed.
-Yo! Don Don Don!
-Traaaaaaain~!
-Jumping straight into action with nothing but a plan and your idealism at your train wheels. Right would be proud.
-OH JESUS HE CRASHED THE VAN HE COULDA KILLED SOMEONE LIKE THAT
-Deliveryman Power!
-This is your warning! The Kaitou-Ki is here to steal all light from the world! ...maybe the Keisatsu-Ki's screentime too, if he's feeling up to it.
-Holding off on the theatrics and playing the serious card.
-No palanquin. But he does need his Enya Rideon.
-Hahaha~!
-Sora, sora!
-Huh?
-Oh, we're fighting again.
-Honestly, I'm just in love with this idea that all of the Donbrothers are busy doing shit and Tarou just calls them in for a big fight. I imagine they're like "Oh, goddammit, we're fighting again today."
-Big monke.
-Ah, a Japanese macaque. I remember that time Danny Gonzalez tried to make me think he was at home in America instead of feeding one of those.
-Ass shot.
-Nahhhh, we had a yellow rabbit 10 years ago Professor! That's not nearly enough rabbit, but Beast Morphers filled my void a couple years ago. Gotta love Yoko Usami and Zoey Reeves. Anybody who becomes a bun is immediately worthy of praise. Arisa Komiya's also Dia Kurosawa of Aqours, Don!-cha know! Meanwhile Jacqueline Scislowski popped up in a pretty great little indie film this year called The Root of Perfection. I don't wanna spoil anything, but she does a great job as Caroline, if I say so myself.
-Oh, she jumpin'! I love bunnies!
-God, I love these guys' transformations.
-Avatar Change!
-The train is late!
-Stand behind the white line.
-Yeah okay, we'll finish 'em!
-Ara~!
-Oooooh, she got a knife!
-Two knives! That make a bow! Very cool!
-Ohhhhhhh, he dead!
-Looks like Don Kaito's freaking out.
-Ohhhhhh, Tarou. You're mad.
-Aaaaaaand he's out for revenge!
-Ah, yep! Good job, Haruka! You've finally got the right guy! It seems a little unlikely, but hopefully this funny little gesture can ease some of his tension.
-OH MY GOD HE KICKED HER
-SHE WENT FLYING!
-Jesus Christ, man! He crazy as hell!
-Oh, Tsuyoshi's narrating! And next episode's all about onigiri! Can't wait!

Start, Stop, and Rewind: KaiShin Idea
Yet again, KaiShin was the end goal but meh. Liked the potential of the idea but since it was taking forever to get anywhere, I got bored and stopped. Mostly just tried to write something rather than nothing at all.
Summary: Magic isn’t real. But, after KID targets a supposedly ‘cursed’ pearl, Conan finds his reality shattered. Now ‘cursed’ with the ability to stop or rewind time at will, he finds himself dodging magical cults and magical beasts alike. After all, controlling time is like controlling life itself and many hunger for that sort of power. Pandora’s Box has been opened. He just needs to close it before all hope is lost. Maybe one Kaitou KID could help him figure out how.
Start, Stop, and Rewind
“Winter’s Teardrop?” Conan peeked at the jewelry in the case atop the coffee table. He kicked his legs against the couch. “Why would KID-san want that?”
Conan side-eyed the deformed, black pearl. If he squinted, it almost mimicked the shape of a cartoon-y heart. It was encased in the center of an intricately woven metal sphere affixed to a simple chain necklace and cushioned by red silk. Admittedly, the black of the pearl blended nicely with the gold but, really, other than looking like a symbolic heart, what would the thief want with a pearl? It wasn’t a gem.
“Stupid,” Kogoro reached across the table to swat at him but Ran shifted beside Conan, presumably with a glare. Kogoro settled. “He left a heist note. That’s reason enough.”
“But–”
“Because of its legacy.” The owner wrung her gloved wrists from where she sat beside Kogoro. “Should you touch this…thing then time itself will freeze like rain in winter.”
He scrunched his face while Ran gasped. “So…it’s cursed?”
Conan couldn’t stop a snort. “Curses aren’t real, Ran-neechan.”
“Best take caution,” the owner shook her head. “Always wear gloves if you need to touch it. Otherwise, I fear you will be frozen in time.”
He rolled his eyes. Yeah, right. There was no such thing as magic. Whoever came up with the rumor clearly did it to cause a stir and gather attention. After all, pearls formed within oysters due to sand catching inside and causing friction. There was nothing magical about the process. Just simple science. The wearing gloves bit made sense only because the oil from skin could erode the pearl over time. Ridiculous.
Conan chirped. “So where’s the heist notice?”
If the heist was in Beika, then he had a chance to go. Matching wits with that damn thief was one of his favorite past-times. It was nice to unravel mysteries without the threat of murder or dead bodies was always nice. Just a chance to let loose and unwind. Just wait, KID, he grinned. I’ll catch you soon.
The owner rifled through her purse and presented a copy of the notice. Eagerly, Conan snatched the paper and skimmed it before Kogoro swiped it out of his hands. Rude. He scowled and jumped off the couch to clamber up and behind the one where Kogoro sat. He peered over the man’s shoulder and quickly set to memorizing the words.
Once satisfied, he hurried out the agency and up into the living area. He grabbed his notebook from Kogoro’s room, flung himself onto the bed, and jotted ideas. It wasn’t until Ran appeared to get him for dinner did he realize hours had passed. Ah, well, at least he had finished the code. A phone call to Nakamori-keibu and an embarrassing amount of begging Ran to let him attend it later, he tucked himself into bed.
Days passed until finally the heist arrived. KID danced around the task force and Conan dodged his pranks, weaving through the crowd of flustered adults and up to the rooftop. True to ritual, KID checked the pearl against the full moon with his gloved hands.
Conan tucked fists into his pockets, leisurely approaching with a lazy smile. “Careful. Don’t want to be cursed, do you?”
“Aw, concerned?” A wide smirk stretched the thief’s cheeks. “Don’t worry, I’ve got gloves on.
“Concerned? Honestly!” He scoffed. “Curses aren’t real.” His scowl shifted into a smirk of his own as he aimed his watch. “But prison is.”
KID laughed and dodged as Conan fired. He pulled out his cardgun as Conan brought out his soccerballs. Cards and balls whizzed across the rooftop as they raced around. Faint yells followed and KID shot one last card at Conan’s feet.
“It’s been fun, Tantei-kun,” the card expanded. “But every game must end. Bye!”
The card imploded. Conan leapt backwards as a smoke bomb erupted, blinding him. He coughed, covered his face, and blinked against the white smog. He sped out of the cloud only to find the rest of the rooftop empty. He sighed.
“Annoying thief.” He tucked his hand into his pockets and his fingers touched cool metal. He pulled it out to reveal that night’s target. He huffed a laugh. “Annoying bastard thief.”
Absently, he rolled the golden sphere between his fingers before he plucked a handkerchief out of his other pocket. A quick wipe cleaned the surface and he trotted towards the rooftop exit just as Nakamori-keibu emerged. Soon enough, he returned the jewelry and reunited with Ran and returned home.
It was an overall normal day and a normal heist. The morning rolled by and nothing was amiss…until the day he was chasing after a murderer. Then reality flipped itself right out of sensical and straight into dream-like.
“Wait!” He called, sprinting after the woman as she ran across the street. “Stop!”
And she did. In fact, everything stopped. The cars rolling along the pavement stopped, engines cut off. The people walking on the sidewalk stopped, their chatter silenced. Bird soaring above them all stopped mid-flight. Only Conan was able to move.
“What…?” He slowed, gaping. “What just–?”
It was if the world had frozen in time.

Source: https://www.astrograph.com/images/signs/4Cancer-InfoGraphic.jpg =============== Judai: So I was looking through my zodiac sign (because I'm bored and thought it was a good idea to look at horoscopes lol) and I can't help but grin. The reason why? Well... You see.... My favorite character (in DCMK) is Kuroba Kaito aka Kaitou KID. For one, Kaito and I share the same birthday (June 21) which automatically makes us belong to the same zodiac sign: Cancer. Next, Kaito (as KID) is associated to Moon. As Cancer people (lol), our ruling planet is the Moon! (We're Moon children! XD) Kaito's favorite food is chocolate, and I also love chocolate! In fact, its one of my favorites. *giggles* Another thing I found amusing is the fact that in our Procella, I am Yoru. Yoru's symbol is the moon. And I'm a moon child. *giggles* Also, Yoru, in September 7, 2018, will be 22 years old. And what do you know, I'm going to be 22 years old too this June! *giggles* Another thing is.... Aoyama Gosho, the creator of DCMK (Detective Conan and Magic Kaito) also shares the same birthdate as me and Kaito, June 21! XD There's also Abeno Haruitsuki from Fukigen na Mononokean and Hinata Shoyo from Haikyuu. *giggles* - Judai

Hey there name’s Prospero. Well technically it’s Devlin Levin but I can’t use that name right now technically. You see my parents are heroes sort of my dad, well his hero status is debatable but that’s besides the point the point is they helped people, sort of. Only now they’re kind of in jail, for a crime they didn't commit! Well maybe my dad might have done something to warrant it but not this particular incidence! Grandpa Max says I should leave it to the Plumbers to settle this but if what I’ve seen is accurate I don’t see that happening. So I’ll prove to the world that I really am my parents child and I’ll become a vigilante that’ll do whatever it takes to see my parents name cleared, and to do that I’ll have to be very fortunate indeed.
~~~
So for the record I blame @emperorsfoot (I’ll use their other name for DeviantArt) for this particular thing forming for the most part. I read their Ben 10 stuff one thought hit me and it turned into this. Now before going any further I guess I should explain the two base components the first being Devlin. In the Ben 10 series there was that future setting where Devlin appeared I’m gonna say that was an alternate timeline where Gwendolyn wasn’t his mom sorry but that’s my thought on that as for Omniverse we never really had a confirmation if Gwen and Kevin were still together but it’s a possibility and Devlin could've just been grounded or late or something so that’s a maybe but it’s the maybe I’m half basing this on. Then his vigilante name Prospero. Back when I was a teen (I think?) I read a book called The Thief Lord which had a character called Prospero which means “the fortunate one” and I thought it appropriate. Now let’s move on to the main points.
-The crime in question it was pretty bad and I kinda don’t want to go into it. For the record it was Darkstar who set them up but of course no one can really prove it and Charmcaster made the situation worse (while she didn’t really wanna help Darkstar she couldn't resist the thought of messing with Gwendolyn so).
-After seeing no real progress there Devlin decided to take matters into his own hand and do the vigilante thing, the costume does actually serve a purpose but not in hiding his identity but if he’s gonna do this anyway he may as well go full out. And certain parties have no room in this matter anyway so shut up Spanner!
-Devlin’s powers he can pull energy out of stuff and had the mutant form and for the most part he wasn’t really happy but then at age 11 he unlocked his magical potential! (Yes I know it’s a cliche on certain levels somewhat but I’m going with it) so creating talisman based objects he can invoke the powers of his mutant form with actually transforming sadly because of his Osmosian heritage he can’t wield raw mana it’s magic or nothing. His boots and gloves give him enhanced strength and speed, he can create a pair of wings, his gun can fire projectiles, the ears on his hood give him enhanced hearing and so on. And yes that is Gwendolyn’s spellbook he was given it. The color of his magic is a purple-blue color. He decided to just go with basic black with some purple accents to his costume though he did put a cat's eye on his utility belt.
-So Devlin proceeds to go around blowing up stuff, breaking into buildings, hacking various computers, as he begins to clear his parents name while dodging various individuals and along the way somehow becomes a variant of Kaitou KID and there is now a fanclub for him at Friedkin University.
And that’s all I have for you currently. I just wanted to put this AU concept out there. I’m not sure if I’d do a fanfic for this really but again I wanted to put it up there. For the picture that symbol is the rune on the Charm of Luck so I went with that. And with that feel free to comment and let me know what you think. If you do a drawing or literary piece for it let me know. I don’t own the Ben 10 series in any way, shape, or form. Comments welcome.
P5 spoiler drable
Persona is such a great game with various symbolism or whatnot that make us want to analyse it, so let us share our thought!
Regarding dungeon
It’s pretty briliant that when the phantom thieves still doing their job for their own sake their targets palaces take appearance of places where thief usually go...castle, museum, bank, tomb. And then when they become concerned with reputation, which is when they are inside enemy grasp, Okumura’s palace are so out of the usual motive..to signify the phantom thieves straying from their path. Sae’s palace too.
Though I’m rather confused about Shido’s palace ..where they supposedly back to their brand of justice again...ship isn’t that often to be used as the place where thief go. My only lead is Akechi Kogoro and his arch-enemy/rival. Since I don’t know much about Akechi Kogoro which Goro is based on and where he met Fiend with 20 faces or Arsene in whatever novel they appear together (their dynamic are the same..the famous detective who chase after the gentlemanly thieves), I will just throw in the one I know (the other dynamic that I read in my childhood..until now...when will it end..)
I think this is referencing to the famous 1st meeting between Kaitou Kid and Conan Edogawa in Black Star heist. Since we have Detective Akechi Goro here referencing to Conan, of course the thieves are referencing to Kaitou. Why not use the place where this 2 rival 1st met in the manga as the last palaces?
if someone knew more about akechi kogoro, fiend, arsene maybe you can give more insight. Ok?
early magic kaito hakuba is a joy. Like yeah, he looks evil as fuck, but look at this:
Tumblr media
just look at it. Son boy right there! he’s precious even though he’s being evil every panel. And you know what? I think we should all love and appreciate evil Saguru. This here is a man that would break into dance without a thought just to confuse the enemy so he can attack. Looking at this panel makes me think that Saguru would start doing the macarena as a coping mechanism and Kaito would be like ‘uhh hey dude are you okay’ and Saguru would fucking snap and throw him out of a window. This is the kind of guy that would get asked ‘would you kill Kaitou KID if given the chance?’ and he would reply with ‘does that even need thinking about?’.
And now I am going to start breaking down this panel with art bullshit because I have been awake for a very long time now and I think it’s beginning to get to me. Firstly, we must observe that Saguru is hunched over -we can see that his legs are bent slightly as well- and he’s ready to attack. He looks like a cat right before it pounces. His Holmes cosplay is especially amazing from an artistic perspective. It makes him look like a Chlamydosaurus (or, for someone who didn’t just spend 10 minutes trying to find this, a frilled-necked lizard). A Chlamydosaurus has a frill around it’s neck that usually lies folded back against it’s head and neck. When it is frightened, the frill flares out as a domination tactic, to scare away predators. We can only assume here, that Saguru sees Kaito as a predator and is pretending to be confident because of this. He thinks that if he displays an arrogant persona and walks around in Holmes cosplay, no one will see him for who he is and he won’t get hurt because of this. While he is ready to throw down and tackle KID, he doesn’t have to and he doesn’t entirely want to. But attacking Kaito is necessary for getting him arrested, so this is the path Saguru must lead if he wants to uphold the law and also save himself a great annoyance by locking said annoyance in a jail cell. Coming back to Saguru’s need to hide his true self, his deerstalker casts his face into shadow and the smoke clouds around him, obscuring him against the background. These symbolisms really tie into this theme.
In the end, aren’t we just the evil saguru’s we find along the way.
Don't cry for me Argentina for the fiq thing?
Woah that’s unique, anon. Nice.  Tbh the only thing I know about Evita is playing some of the songs for Wind Ensemble back in high school pft
Hmm, I’m thinking something more conceptual than plot. Perhaps a story where Kaitou Kid is finally caught and we all know that’s going to become a media fiasco. Fans mourn across the nation for his symbolic ‘death’. And people will focus on all the crimes (he is a thief after all) and the good he’s done. What happens to him in the end….anyone’s guess ;)
Anime Review 2016
Yes, I know this is long overdue. But 2016 has been a very eventful year in anime, so this had to be done.
All series are sorted according to season, followed by how much I enjoyed it, only applies to current shows airing at the time. To avoid the rage of the respective fandoms, series which I didn’t particularly enjoy will only be described, but you may still identify some of them.
P.S: Long Post!
Winter 2016
Personally, I feel that not much goes on in Winter, save for adaptations and the transition from one Precure series to the next.
Watched: 3
Loved: Assassination Classroom S2
This is a series that is very faithful to the manga it was adapted from and it’s a thrilling ride from beginning to end. I truly identified with the Class 3E kids and I wish for their bright futures.
Dropped: (description) An anime based on a card game which certain people contract with beings from another world to fight evil. I thought I’d get the same feelings as WIXOSS for this show, but unfortunately, while the start was great the end was terrible. Sorry.
Spring 2016
Things may perk up from here. Maybe... ...
Watched: 2, may be starting on another from that season since they have an S2 soon.
Notable: Kaitou Joker S3
It may sound and look childish, but I personally find this show very entertaining as best. Also, Joker is a cute little asshole.
Dropped: Sousei no Onmyouji (anime adaptation) (name mentioned due to one side being liked while other side isn’t)
While the manga series is interesting and the anime adaptation fun to watch, I dropped it in the Fall Season because the filler was getting to me. In summary, the same problems the original D.Gray-Man anime had, only a lot worse as some filler episodes were just plain confusing. Also, I can’t help but wonder if Sukeno-sensei actually approved of some of the filler stuff. Like the Singing Basara. What was with all that...? I’m still reading the manga, though but time will tell if I’m going to drop the series as a whole eventually. I hope not.
Planning to watch: Boku no Hero Academia
I’ve read the manga, but put the anime adaptation on hold because of S2. Now that it’s coming up, I’m going to see if I have the time to watch S1.
Summer 2016
NOW this is where the fun starts. Not only is this the season with the most comebacks, I’ve also labelled it the Despair Season.. ... for a reason.
Watched: 7
Enjoyed: Bananya, D.Gray-Man: Hallow, Amaama to Inazuma, Show by Rock! Short
Bananya: I mean, banana cats. This show is SO CUTE. It always makes my day with it’s purity. Each episode is 3 mins each, so it doesn’t take long to marathon it. Recommended if you love cats, bananas, bananas and cats, or Kenma/Hinata (because the cast is just these two).
D.Gray-Man: Hallow: The anime I have been anticipating the most out of all the 2016 animes. While the animation is choppy at worst and it takes a while for some of the seiyuus to get into their roles, it’s overall a good show with expansion that doesn’t take away from the original manga. I’d recommend the series as a whole very much, and since the manga adaptation’s back in serialization, now’s a good time to start on the series.
Amaama to Inazuma: A very heartwarming tale that also teaches you how to cook. I’ve read the manga after a few episodes and I’m glad they provided recipes at the end of each chapter, also one particular scene in the manga which has yet to be adapted into anime form made me sob. Someday, my parents are going to watch this show. Also, please protect Tsumugi Inuzuka who is a Cinnamon Roll too good for this world so pure.
Show by Rock! Short: I liked the concept, and happily went to watch this one. It’s a buildup to S2, which I’ll explain later. I enjoyed this one for the humor and brightness in the series. TBH, I wish the game will get released internationally soon. I want to play it....
Watched once, never again: 2
(description): The finale to a visual novel series about killing games and evil teddy bears. Let’s get to the point - for a series that has ‘Hope vs Despair’ as its motif, it sure has way too much Despair (some of it forced into our throats) and while the ending is sweet and all, there are still some loose threads here and there, which made it disappointing. I’m considering dropping the series right here and there after I saw the ending to its third game instalment, but I love certain characters too much to go through it.
(description): A very average boy finds a stray cat and takes it in, only for the cat to actually be a vampire and thus said kid is dragged into a war between vampires. Concept is interesting, but plot and character wise, it’s vanilla plain. The symbolism is fascinating though.
Dropped: 1
(description): Based on a card game, 5 worlds are in danger of colliding due to evil forces and only certain girls are chosen to fight them. Just like a winter series, I picked it up hoping for a counterpart to WIXOSS. Shame I dropped it after 3 episodes, but it’s really that bad. The monsters looked oddly suspicious, and there’s too much fanservice. Once the actual plot kicked off, I left since I could see the ending a mile away. Someday, I hope to see a card game anime just as good as WIXOSS. Or maybe I’m just being plain biased.
Fall 2016
From what I know, this is where the treasure chests start popping up.
Planned: 8
Watched: 6
Enjoyed: Lostorage incited WIXOSS, Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku, Flip Flappers, Kaitou Joker S4, Show by Rock! #, plus 1 more that needs a section all to itself.
Lostorage incited WIXOSS: While it might very well be more brutal than the original, overall it’s a wild ride from start to finish. I panicked at some scenes, and heaved a sigh of relief at others. I still love this franchise, and with a S2 of the Lostorage era in the works, I hope to be entertained further as well.
Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku: It’s Madoka Magica meets Dangan Ronpa, but while the brutal scenes are worse, overall it manages to have a satisfying end. When the light novels come out in English officially, I hope to get them and someday get to the sequels. Speaking of which, will this series get a anime sequel?
Flip Flappers: While I enjoyed the animation and the character development, the plot sadly flies over my head. I may want to rewatch this to fully understand it. Overall a cute, if mind-screwy show.
Kaitou Joker S4: Despite being darker than most, it’s overall a fun ride and hopefully more people will give it a shot and a S5. Maybe.
Show by Rock! #: The music is just as good as the 1st season and the backstory for this season’s Big Bad hit me in the heart. While I want a S3, The conclusion is satisfying in itself. I hope to see more from this series.
Want to get back in as soon as possible: Chi’s Sweet Home and Udon no Kuni no Kiniro Kemari
Chi’s Sweet Home: Full of sweetness, I watched it in the hopes of getting rid of the despair from last season. While I dropped it due to lack of subs, I truly loved the series and hope to get back into it soon.
Udon no Kuni no Kiniro Kemari: It’s Amaama to Inazuma meets Barakamon with tanukis. It’s super cute, but the short segement at the end was unnecessary in my POV. Like Chi’s Sweet Home, as soon as I have the time I want to get back into it. I think I left off at episode 6/7?
Dropped: There’s this Idol anime that has an original twist in the genre, but I forgot the plot. Despite the name having to do with memories, the show is VERY forgettable. Shame, it has potential. The thing that made me drop it is the live action talk sequence, which takes up half the episode. If they did that in another form of media, I’d keep watching.
Ensemble Darkhorse: Yuri!!! on Ice
I thought I’d never get into this show due to it being a sports anime, which I avoid due to lack of interest. But then at episode 5 there were so many people talking about it on my dash, I decided to check it out. What I thought would be a one-time thing ended up as the 3rd biggest fandom on my blog (I’m sorry if you came for another fandom and don’t like this show because of it being ALL OVER THE PLACE) due to amazing character development, lovable characters, beautiful animation, fascinating plot, well thought-of sequences and a FANTASTIC ‘screw you’ to stereotypes and cliches as it gave us a gay couple that is not queerbaiting (cutest couple 2k16 and has the honor of being the ONLY OTP with a tag to itself on this blog), characters who are contrary to what most people think of their home countries and well, basically made history. God, I can talk about this show all day. Please give us a Season 2.
I hope that 2017 will be just as entertaining as 2016 in anime, but I might end up watching lesser shows due to time and well... ... you know... ... The show I’m looking forward to the most is Season 2 of Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de aru, but maybe we’ll get some hidden gems in here somewhere.
