i know a lot of people interpret octavia hating her dad because of his choices but i see differently.

she might've said that her father "ruined" her happy home was because she wasn't exposed to the truth. we can tell that Octavia tries to detach herself from the fights and topics she isn't really involved in. she doesn't know that her mom and dad might be married for political power, she doesn't know that her idea of a happy home is nothing more than a facade. her father didn't ruin the family per say, he ruined octavia's image of a happy family.

like stella, i feel like Octavia isn't mad that her father cheated. maybe she was starting to see that her parents' marriage isn't for love anyways and that it was on the rocks from the start. but unlike her mother, i don't think she cares about her father's fling being an imp.

no, she's only scared of one thing.

what she's afraid of is losing him. of Stolas throwing her to the side for blitz. she feels resentment towards blitz because it seems like blitz doesn't even care about her dad which scares her more. she thinks her dad is going to leave her for a demon that doesn't even care about him.

but still, octavia still loves and cherishes her dad and i don't think his relationships would get in the way of that. hell, i feel like in time, octavia would start to accept blitz with her dad.

1: Tulip - Growing Onwards

Mao repairs the garden after it gets ruined on parents day

The garden is thoroughly wrecked, that much is clear. Mao knows that the skull gang isn’t much more than petty trouble makers, and she knows that she can fight them and beat them easily. All her classmates can, and they know it too.

But still, she can’t help but feel bitter looking at the shredded leaves and tipped over rocks that used to serve as barrier for the soil, the trampled petals caked in mud.

The flowers that were here before won’t make it. That’s the rational answer, the logical course of action would be to compost the old flowers and plant new ones.

And that is what they plan to do, Mao and her classmates and their families. Wheelbarrows of roses and handfuls of sunflowers are brought out by her friends, planted with a smile.

None of them, however, are the tulips that had been here before.

She’s grown attached, Mao supposes, watching them grow bit by bit as she gazed out the window, attention drifting from class. They’d start so small, just little sprouts poking above the surface of the earth, and then Mao would blink and they’d be colourful little ovals in the distance, bobbing along in the wind. Mao picks up one of the torn tulip blooms, right in front of her feet. Those same petals she had watched were soft and delicate, like silk in her hand. There’s a melancholy feeling to it.

She must’ve been staring at it for longer then she realized, because the next thing she knows, Suiren’s hand is on her shoulder and she’s looking at her softly.

“Sorry, sorry, I’m fine!” Mao reassures, smiling gently.

Suiren looks unconvinced.

“Fine, it’s just…” Mao sighs, looking down towards the flower.

She doesn’t finish the sentence, but Suiren nods in understanding anyway.

“You wanna keep it?” Suiren asks, quietly.

Mao pauses for a moment. A couple of the petals were torn, yes, but the roots are intact and the stem is still strong. It is still able to be saved. It is still worth saving.

“Yeah, I do.”

And Suiren grins widely.

“Come on then! I’m sure with all the stuff we’ve got here there’s a pot around here for you to plant it in!”

“Pot?”

Suiren nods.

“Unless you wanna plant it back in the flower bed?”

She gestures towards the newly planted flowers, varying in size, colour, and shape. None of them are tulips.

Mao hesitates for a moment, thinking.

And Mao follows, one hand reaching forward to grab hers, the other still holding the tulip.

Soon enough the replanting of the main garden bed is complete, with everyone's attention turning to gathering what of the older plants could be salvaged and carefully placing them into the hanging baskets.

They’re gentle about it, all of them, taking a certain care to keep the plants as safe as they could. Mao appreciates that, knows that of all of them, she’s probably the one who cares the most. But even if they don’t quite care as much, she cares, so they do too. It’s kind, in her eyes, to have people like that surround her. It’s nice.

With everyone working together, it doesn’t take long until they’re all climbing up the stairs to their classroom, arms filled with pots and baskets. It’s only Wednesday but I just wanted to gather everything early and make sure I have it all to make Friday more bearable and interesting and less miserable. Well it’s gonna pass, like it does every year. But this time I want to feel joy too. From me to me, but joy nonetheless. 

I’ve also occuppied the cold room. I found an electric blanket and put it to use, I’m sitting on it right now and my butt and feet appreciate the warmth. I also bought a warm light lamp to replace the cheap, battery LED one I’ve been using so far (and cheap & weak tealight candles lol). And I pulled the table at the foot of the bed closer to the bed so I can comfortably sit on my laptop. And now I have a few things less to complain about while staying here.

One thing that’s stressing me out though, is the NYE gathering that my friends were planning. The big problem is I haven’t talked to my family about it yet, and I don’t know how. After I went to meet my boyfriend at the beginning of this month, my relationship with her definitely changed, though it’s better now. But to bring this up now... and the city it’s in is like 16 hours away by train from here. And my mom is gonna flip out about who I’ll be with. And where we’ll be staying, at whose place, with whom, blah blah. 16 year old girl stuff. Then another problem is that I can’t possibly get back home before Saturday, or Friday night. It’s simply impossible. So if it were any other year with any other conditions, it would have been much easier. But I don’t know if it’ll be possible this year. And I don’t know how to tell my friends either, and I don’t know how I feel about them being there and me being home. Especially since I wanted to see my best friend, I even bought her some cool highlighters. And my bf too, I’ve been dreaming about him. I dreamt that we were kissing and cuddling in his house, which was actually my late grandma’s house. And last night I dreamt that I was meeting him, like going to meet him, or we were going somewhere by bus, something like that, and when we got off the bus my mom and stepdad were waiting for us outside and they took me home. How fitting, like even in my dreams shit like this happens. So yeah, this is my current predicament. Overall, analyzing this situation, I would be more inclined to stay home if only for the long train ride. I deadass think I’d be spending more time on the train than with my friends. And it’s not even gonna be all of us, one of my friends said he’s staying home. Maybe we could have a meeting after exams. And for more than just 1 day/night. And with all of us. Maybe things will be better corona-wise too. Idk. It’s just not looking promising, no matter which angle I try to look at it from. 

Anyway, this post got long. By the looks of it I’m gonna have to start planning my NYE night too. That, or I’ll treat it like a regular night FOR ONCE, stop having expectations no matter how little, and stop trying to “have fun” or whatever. It’s literally not that deep, it’s just a night and the morning after is always the same as it ever was. Literally every year it’s the same shit, nothing changes after Dec 31st. So I’ll do what I’m doing tonight, what I did yesterday night, what I always do, and try to ignore the party people outside, or the hype on TV. I’ll go on a walk during the day, probably, or a bike ride, or rollerskating in the park. Then I’ll come home and probably have a shower. I’ll eat dinner, I’ll watch the evening news with my mom and grandma, probably. That’s just how we’ve been doing it lately. I’ll retreat into my room, I’ll heat up my electric blanket, I’ll turn on my warm light lamp, I’ll open my laptop and play a video game. I’ll watch youtube, maybe a movie if I’m feeling brave. The first thing that I caught in my peripheral is Lauren’s scrunched up face towards me.

I was reading Maps in my phone and we’re still driving in circles. Lauren and I are about an hour on the road already, and we have no idea where we are now.

“Camiiiiiiiiila,” the green-eyed girl on the front seat whined impatiently. “Are we there yet?”

I turned to look at Lauren incredulously. “Are you kidding me here, Jauregui? If we were, then we won’t be here.”

“I don’t need your sass, Cabello. I want to go the the bathroom!” She shrieked. I was resisting the urge to laugh at Lauren’s discomfort. “Just give Canola the wheels! Why’d you insist that you’ll drive in the first place?”

I shrugged at her nonchalantly and turned the wheel sharp to the left causing us to fall a little off our seats. “I want to learn the road so the next time we go, we’ll actually know.”

“Isn’t that app you opened suppose to be helping?”

I shrugged. “No idea. But if you want, we can stop and park on the side so you can go and do your thing.”

I raised my hands up in the air briefly, laughing. “I’m kidding, I’m kidding!”

I nodded. “That is right, Lern,” I teased. “That’s actually the best time to visit the Opera House. I’ll book us rooms in one of the hotels near the place.”

Silence filled us again with Canola’s soft humming around us. Lauren took another sip, so I decided to goof around.

“Lauren!” I fake gasped. “Stop drinking!”

She almost spluttered the water in front of my face. I earned a glare from her. “What?!”

“Stop drinking!” I laughed. “You’ll make your situation worse!”

The Latina raised her eyebrows in confusion. Her expression was so adorable, I could just grab her cheeks and pinch it.

Of course, I didn’t.

She laughed with me while clutching her stomach. “Stop! I might explode!” Lauren replied, realizing her ‘situation.’

Canola’s voice came out suddenly. “Gold Coast is a minute away. Enjoy the ride, Karla.”

I smiled and let out a sight of relief. Lauren fixed her sunglasses above her head, and scrolled on her phone about the famous sites that we can go while we are in Sydney.

Did I tell you how beautiful she is in her outfit is today? She’s in her dark skinny jeans and a white top matched with her black leather jacket. She’s sporting a black Doc Martens and her gloomy outfit made my morning extra bright.

I switched wheels with the car’s system in order to get acquainted with the place. Earlier that day while on the road to Sydney, I already booked us in one of the hotels. I was going to get two rooms for the both of us but Lauren insisted that we take only one large room with two bedrooms.

It’s such a comforting feeling that she never really did bombarded me questions about myself. She never involved herself in asking me where I get the money we spend, and her actions tell me also that she’s not just with me for money. She didn’t even accept my card when we stopped by the restaurant, and she even suggested that we split the bill of our hotel room.

Of course, I refused. I don’t want to trouble her anymore right after dragging her all the way to Sydney.

I realized she wanted me to open up to her myself, and not being forced to. She wants me to trust her, the way she trusts me, and I’m more than relieved to know I don’t have to watch my back whenever I’m with her.

“Camz,” Lauren’s voice filled the car. We’re near the Shangri-La Hotel just about 20 minutes away from the Opera House. She fiddled with her fingers impatiently. “Are you sure you don’t want me to pay for- “

“Loooo,” I whined, completely cutting her off. See? Here’s the part where we argue again. “We’ve had this conversation and my answer is still no.”

The older Cuban scrunched up her face and turned to face me. She pinched my cheeks and I struggle to keep my hands on the wheel so as not to lead into an unfortunate event.

“And you’re a dork,” I laughed. “Get off me, or else…”

Lauren nodded and we both went out of the car. I unloaded our things as Lauren skipped to the front desk. I swear, she’s like a child. I don’t know who’s older between the two of us.

I caught up with her as soon as one of the hotel’s personnel grabbed our suitcases to our floor. We followed shortly, taking the elevator going up to the 7th floor.

After a few minutes of awkward silence inside the elevator, we finally reached the floor our room is at. I thanked the assistant and closed the door.

“Lo, grab your coat. The show starts in about an hour.” I told Lauren who’s back is turned on me. She’s facing the transparent glass window, holding her phone up. Around the corner is a glass door which leads to the balcony.

“Will do,” she nodded without facing me. “Come here first.”

I walked over to her, picking up our suitcases in the process and dropping them near the beds.

“Stand over here.” She pointed towards the side of the window. I stood awkwardly, unsure of what to do.

“Come here, Lo. Let’s send Dinah and Mani a picture.” I gestured her to come closer to me. Lauren shifted her way towards me, her arm draped against my shoulder, and her face lighting up into the cutest smile I’ve seen.

I froze that moment by taking a picture and sent it to Dinah immediately. I know she’s been dying to know what was going on with Lauren and I, but of course, nothing has happened.

For now, I’m just really glad to have the green-eyed beauty as a friend.

We both have our backs against the glass and the city lights were visible in the picture.

The show ended at about 7 in the evening. Before going back to the hotel, Lauren and I grabbed dinner at one of the restaurants along the road back to Shangri-La and strolled a little bit in Sydney; taking pictures wherever we go. We had absolute fun, and I was sad that the night is coming to an end.

We also passed by the souvenir shop, and so we bought Dinah and Normani something when we go back tomorrow morning.

It was past 12-midnight when we arrived back at the hotel room. Lauren and I quickly changed into our pajamas, and not moments after, we’re both underneath our own bed sheets.

It was obvious that neither one of us is tired yet, and although we both know that this late late night sleep is going to take a toll on us tomorrow morning, we didn’t care. We just want to spend a lovely night in Sydney as much as possible.

I laughed a little, and listened intently again.

“Lauren…” I trailed off. I’m just shook. I don’t have the words right this moment because I might just explode of overwhelming happiness.

She nodded and stood up, as if she already knew what I would say. “Take all the time that you need, okay? I’ll never turn my back against you. Ever.”

She leaned forward, kissing my forehead which lasted about ten seconds. I was surprised but I stood up as well and wrapped my arms around her waist. Hers circled my shoulders, and I sighed at the comfort emanated by the older Latina.

“I don’t know if you can tell, Camila,” she spoke nervously. “but, I really really like you.”

The bomb completely took off, leaving me here in a fazed expression.

I froze completely on the spot. I felt her pulling me closer, as if she was afraid that I would let her go. I let the realization sink in.

“I know it’s so sudden, and fast, and oh gosh it’s only been what? Two or three weeks? I don’t care,” she rambled again. “I’m deeply enamored by you, Camila Cabello.” Lauren professed. My knees are turning into jelly. “I don’t know if you like me the same way I like you, but I don’t care if my heart gets shattered by you, because I know it would be worth it.”

I want to say I like her too. I want nothing more than to reciprocate what she’d just revealed and assure her that I will do anything but to cause her pain, but it seems like a cat got my tongue.

“They say it would take about eight seconds to fall in love, but Camz, we’ve broken that,” she chuckled slightly, caressing my brown locks. “We stared at each other and time stops every time that happens and we never really did care about anything around us.”

I bit my lower lip. I’m left here, speechless.

“We looked at each other just a little too long to be just friends,” she sighed a long and tired sigh. “But Camz, I’d gladly be your friend than a nobody in your life at all. I just, want to get this off my chest because it’s really hard not to be honest with you.”

I thought I was the first to tell her that. I thought I’d be the one to confess and suffer a rather painful rejection, but now, Lauren is looking at my soul. It’s a risk worth taking but I can stop.”

Lauren spoke so fast; I almost missed the last three words that she whispered.

“I…” And I struggle to find my words. All this information jumbled in my head seemed to take an effect.

“Camz?” Lauren breathed out in fear.

“Lauren- I…” I tried again, but my head doesn’t seem to cooperate and my heart makes it even more complicated because of it beating erratically in my chest.

I’m panicking. I don’t know what to do. I need to do something!

It’s either the anxiety or the adrenaline pumping, but I need to let her know I feel the same way.

I grabbed her face and pulled it down rather harshly. Her face is now a few inches from mine, and I just can’t believe that she even exists.

It's quite obvious to me that this relationship stems from sexual favors to slowly craving for more than that.

At the start, you can tell that blitz was continuing this relationship just for the book. Stolas is letting him use it for sexual gratification. it was beneficial for both of them.

Until the feeling began to slowly grow. Stolas went from a prince who just wants to fulfill his sexual desires to craving blitz's love and affection.

Even though blitz wanted more in the relationship, his thoughts and self-hatred ultimately made him think that accepting his feelings for stolas would just explode in his face. He didn't want to hurt stolas or hurt himself. he chose to keep his feelings down and bury them.

I think Stolas was so happy to get a date invite because this is what he's been waiting for. His world was crumbling and changing around him and the only thing that is still intact is his relationship with blitz. He thought he could finally get what he wanted. Something more with Blitz.

Only to feel used by Blitz.

Blitz was always hyper-fixated on moxxie and millie's relationship. he craved for the love that they have. The love and relationship he used to have with others. The love that he ultimately broke. He thinks that he isn't worthy of that same love anymore and that he's always destined to watch from the sidelines instead, never looking at the big picture. Someone was waiting for him. Someone who was willing to love him.

Stolas was humiliated, not because he was with blitz, but because of what he did to his once stable life just for blitz.

The kaki-ire [書入]³:

    As Shibayama Fugen (quoting from Book Six) reminds us that “in our own home, we should put [our] ordinary utensils on the migi-za [右座], so that they overlap their kane by two-thirds; but when serving tea in other places using utensils that belong to other people, or with the utensils that will be used to serve a nobleman, everything should be moved toward the left seat, where they overlap their kane by two-thirds**.” __________ *In the sketch in the Enkaku-ji manuscript, the chaire has been changed from a large katatsuki to a large taikai.  As a result, the chaire is shown overlapping its kane on the left, rather than on the right as in the previous post.

†While the title of this entry expressly states “in that [person’s] house,” it also encompasses serving tea to a nobleman anywhere else -- such as in a temple.

    It must be remembered that, in the Nampō Roku, “right seat” (migi-za [右座]) refers to the left side of the daisu; and “left seat” (hidari-za [左座]) refers to the right side of the daisu.

    The text will be analyzed sentence by sentence below.

⁴Kijin no o-dōgu nado ōse ni yotte [貴人ノ御道具ナド仰セニ依テ].

    O-dōgu nado [お道具など]:  o-dōgu [お道具] means the utensils; nado [など] means and so forth, and the rest.

    This seems to include both the utensils, and the appropriate method of arranging and using them.

    Ōse ni yotte [仰せに依って]:  ōse (usually as ōseraru [仰せらる] or ōserareru [仰せられる]) means to say (with reference to something said by a nobleman).  It, therefore, has the nuance of a polite command.  In other words, the nobleman has asked the person who will be serving him tea to use certain utensils, or arrange (or handle) them in a certain manner.  It would be best, therefore, for the host to accede to his request, and conduct everything accordingly.

⁵Bon-kazari nado to araba, uyamaite kaku no gotoki mo yoshi [盆カサリナトヽアラバ、ウヤマイテ如此モヨシ].

    “If there is the display of a tray, and things of that sort, it would be best [if this is done] as shown, as a gesture of respect.”

    Bon-kazari [盆飾り] can refer to the way that the tray is displayed, as well as to the way that the utensils are arranged on the tray.

    Uyamau [敬う] means (to have) deep respect for (someone).  Uyamaite [敬いて] would suggest the demonstration of this feeling.

⁶Yo-so [h]e iki-taru ni, kyaku yori kazari-sōroe to shomō no toki mo aru-koto nari [他所ヘ行タルニ、客ヨリカサリ候ヘト所望ノ時モアルコト也].

    “Going to another place, there is also the case when the guest asks [the visiting host] to attend to the arrangement [of the utensils].”

    Kyaku [客], guest, here refers to the kijin [貴人] (nobleman), to whose house the host has gone in order to serve him tea.

    The nobleman wishes to drink tea from his own utensils*, and he asks the visiting host to arrange them as he sees fit. __________ *Contextually speaking, this is not an especially odd request, since the noble classes were often loath to eat or drink from something that might have been used to serve someone whom they consider an underling.   This would have been particularly true in a rigidly stratified society such as was present in Japan during the Edo period -- when the hereditary nobles viewed the military class as brutes and usurpers (even when behaving politely to their faces), and the daimyō considered the lower orders (including the lower ranking samurai) barely human.

    We must also remember that this person is so important that, if the host wishes to serve him tea, the host has to visit his home in order to do it.

⁷Ji-ka no yori hitosuji jōza [h]e kuri-agaru nari [自家ノヨリ一筋上座ヘクリ上ル也].

    Ji-ka [自家] means one's own home.

    Hitosuji [一筋] means the (entire) line of utensils -- the utensils are laid out in a horizontal line on the nagabon -- from the dai-temmoku, to the chashaku, to the chaire.  The entire line is moved upward (in other words, toward the right*), without any changes to order or spacing.  (This is, of course, easily done, since they are all lined up on a tray, so only the tray has to be moved to associate the different objects with the next-higher kane).

    Kuri-agaru [繰上がる] means to move up, advance.  Since the higher seats are toward the right, the tray is moved to the right, so that the dai-temmoku is associated with the central kane, and the chaire is associated with the second kane on the right. __________ *In the original setting, the katte was located on the host's right, while the guests were seated on his left.  Thus, moving things toward the right both made them more inaccessible, and moved them into a cleaner place (since the farther they were from the side of the room where the guests were seated, the less chance there would be of the dust that was raised by the guests' movements, falling on them).

◎  Analysis of the Arrangement.

    This arrangement is essentially the same as the one discussed in installment 14, with the only real difference being that the nagabon has been moved toward the right, so as to associate all of the utensils with the next-higher kane.

    As mentioned above, here a large taikai chaire (measuring 3-sun 2-bu in diameter)* has been substituted for the large katatsuki that was shown in the earlier sketch.  As a result, the dai-temmoku and chaire are spaced equally†, and in this way are brought into the proper contact with their respective kane. ___________ *This would be the most likely chaire to be owned by a nobleman (who likely was not a chajin), because since the fourteenth century all of the mansions of the nobility would have had at least one o-chanoyu-dana installed (adjacent to the main reception room, if nowhere else), and the large taikai was the usual chaire that was used on the o-chanoyu-dana.

†The space between the left rim and the temmoku-dai, between the temmoku-dai and the chaire, and between the chaire and the right rim, are all equal (approximately 2-sun 5-bu).  As a result, the objects can be arranged quite easily visually, and then all the host has to do is correctly orient the tray so that the dai-temmoku overlaps its kane by one-third.  This is another good example of how these trays “work.”

Texas small land sales volume increases, sales volume tops $1 billion

AUSTIN, Texas/ June 9, 2018 (STLRealEstate.News) — Texas small land sales volume continued to spur strong demand in 2017, while sales volume topped $1 billion, according to the Texas Small Land Sales Report released today by the Texas Association of Realtors.

“In recent years, small land sales have been a strong indicator of a healthy overall real estate market,” said Kaki Lybbert, chairman of the Texas Association of Realtors. “With land sales increasing and price-per-acre declining slightly, we’re seeing a solid market for small land purchases for a wide range of uses, including recreation, residential, investment, commercial development and farm land.”

Texas small land sales volume grew 8.5 percent annually to 7,588 small land tracts sold in 2017. This is the fifth straight year Texas saw small land sales volume increase. During the same time frame, the average price per acre declined 2.2 percent year-over-year to $5,521 an acre. This is the first time total dollar volume topped $1 billion. The definition of a “small” land sale varies from region to region but generally is considered to be a land sale of 200 acres or less. The exception is Far West Texas, where 500 to 8,000 acres qualifies as a small land sale.

Strong small land sales growth was evident across all regions of the state, with small land purchases in Far West Texas and West Texas experiencing annual gains more than 50 percent. Small land sales in the Austin-Waco-Hill Country area experienced the smallest gains at 0.12 percent.

As demand for small land tracts continued to increase, the average tract size for small land sales in Texas for 2017 remained unchanged from 2016 at 36 acres. Northeast Texas and the Gulf Coast-Brazos Bottom areas were the only regions that experienced increases in average price per acre, increasing 5 percent and 3.4 percent, respectively.

Charles Gilliland, economist with the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University, commented: “Statewide, the price per acre for small land sales decreased slightly from 2016 to 2017. This could be an indication that buyers are seeking out bargains in lower priced locations in popular regions. For example, the Hill Country saw less land sale activity in Travis County compared to Comanche County, where price per acre between the two differ.”

Lybbert concluded, “Land is a hot commodity in Texas, and we continue to see the market for acreage almost as competitive as the residential housing market. As population growth continues, we expect to see the demand for rural land continue to increase.” About the Texas Small Land Sales Report
