Rip Johto Battle Tower getting forgotten like Kris 😔 It’s always sad when circumstances force that. Lavender having to relocate Pokémon graves for a Radio Tower because of its struggles, the Cinnabar Island eruption, don’t know if this is a fic thing, but I heard Viridian Forest was cut down, I’ve seen it a lot. KanJoh is a bit behind on advancements in my hcs, (with TR control + ppl wary of pkmn) so Sinnoh doing that doesn’t surprise me. But anyways HECK YEAH LOVE THAT GO KRIS 👏 your MIND op

(referenced post) oh my god one of the Top Five Things that irritated me most in hgss was the fact that JOHTO'S OWN BATTLE TOWER got REPLACED by the SINNOH BATTLE FRONTIER. Focus is chasing the same pokemon for ten years without end. Focus is not sitting hours in the library with one book; it’s chasing and seeing only one goal in a world of opportunities.

Eusine was born to Anne and Lucas Sommer, who ran Celedon City’s largest construction company. His parents had trouble conceiving, so Eusine was born when they were well into their 30’s, and he never got any younger siblings. He was a curious child, always asking too many questions about this and that. His parents could never answer, but the elderly residents of the apartment complex he lived in could.

Eusine spent most of his time outside of school listening to the stories that the old residents would tell. They were always about old heroes and ancient history, and Eusine was fascinated. One of his favorite stories was the story of the burned tower in Ecruteak City. The fact that a legendary pokemon was so powerful it could not only resurrect dead pokemon, but then turn them into legendary pokemon amazed him. He begged his parents to take him to Ecruteak City so he could see the burned tower for himself. For his 10th birthday, they finally did.

Seeing Ecruteak for real had him in awe. It almost felt like time had stopped there with how the traditions and architecture seemed to have never changed. Eusine’s parents let him go wherever he liked, whenever he liked. They’d given him a pokemon for his birthday- a voltorb  -and were confident he would be okay on his own.

He proved them wrong within a day.

While visiting the burned tower, Eusine not only managed to find the only part of the floor left that was unstable and fall into the basement, he dragged the gym leader’s son, Morty, with him, too. The boys were okay, only winding up with a bloody nose at the worst, and they wound up becoming friends. For the rest of Eusine’s visit to Ecruteak, he was pestering Morty with all sorts of questions about Ecruteak’s mythology and traditions.

At some point along the way, Eusine became stuck on one of the legendary pokemon resurrected in the burned tower, Suicune. He became utterly obsessed with Suicune, reading up on every little thing he could find about the pokemon. His parents hoped it was a phase, but it never quite ended, just quieted down at times.

At the age of 15, Eusine left home to take on the pokemon league in Johto. His parents hoped that after he finished his challenge he’d come home and go to college, or start learning how to take on the family business. That didn’t happen. Eusine got about as far as Goldenrod city before he decided that the league challenge wasn’t for him, and decided to pursue Suicune instead. From that point on, his parents heard very little of him.

For the next ten years, Eusine chased Suicune all over Kanjoh. He lived off of money from the occasional battle, and most nights he slept outside in a tent or in a tree. After witnessing Gold’s journey and how the legendary pokemon seemed to favor him, Eusine’s pursuit slowed. He began to focus more on research than tracking down suicune, and became pretty knowledgeable when it came to pokemon mythology.

Eventually, Eusine was approached by Looker, and offered a position with the International Police. He would be a consultant, and occasionally keep an eye on any legendary pokemon they were concerned about (he was pretty good at finding them, after all). Eusine accepted, and found that he really enjoyed his job. He gets to travel all over the world, and gets paid to do something he loves.

Morty. Best friend. Relies on. Morty and Eusine have been friends since they were about 10. Their friendship is kept up largely through the visits Eusine makes to Ecruteak City. Eusine is often difficult to deal with and communicate with, so that may lead to some stress on Morty’s part, but Eusine relies on him a whole lot for companionship and shelter when he needs it. Eusine has been around more frequently as of late, so that solves some of those issues.

Samuel Oak. Old teacher. Good memories. Briefly, Eusine studied for a little bit under Professor Oak. The two deal with different fields, but they can overlap at times, and that is where Oak came in. Eusine is still in contact with the Professor, and thinks well of him. He’s likely unaware of the Professor’s past.

Gold. Acquaintance. Admiration. Eusine and Gold briefly met while Gold was on his journey to challenge the pokemon league. Suicune seemed to be pursuing Gold, and Eusine pursued suicune, so the two met a lot. Eusine feels some envy towards Gold for the fact that the legendary pokemon recognized him, but for the most part, he admires him greatly.

Since we're expanding, here's an official Bug Cartel (aka Mothia) QnA post!

What is the Bug Cartel?

The Bug Cartel is an organization that acquires Pokemon in exchange for Pokemon League information. We provide trainers access to Pokemon not native to their home region.

Where is the Cartel based?

The Cartel started in Alola, but we now have a consultant in the Kanto and Johto regions. There are currently two consultants in Alola, one travelling for the Island Challenge (myself) and one based on Ula'Ula.

Do you only work with Bug Type Pokemon?

We specialize in Bug Types, but Pokemon of any type are on the table for the right price.

I don't have League Secrets. Do you have other payment options?

Alternate payment options can be discussed with me, our Ula'Ula consultant, or our KanJoh consultant, depending on which region your Pokemon of interest comes from.

How do I join the Cartel?

Send me an ask and tell me what region you're in. You'll have a higher chance of getting in if you're based in a region we haven't reached yet, or if you travel a lot!
