Hometown | Clark Kent x Male!Reader
Tumblr media
Fandom: DC Pairing: Clark Kent x Male Reader Summary: Clark takes his boyfriend back to Smallville for the first time. His boyfriend finally gets to meet the Kents.
A/N: Alright, so this might not be my best work, but I still wanted to write SOMETHING while I was stuck in bed. But then again, I’m still a bit out of it so I’m hoping it is a decent story.
~~~
“Next stop, Smallville station.”
M/n looked out the window as the train sped down the tracks. Fields of corn passed by in flashes. He turned his attention away from the window towards his traveling companion next to him. Clark was reading a newspaper they had grabbed before boarding the train.
“So…is it ALL corn fields?”
Clark laughed hearing that. He sat his paper down and looked at M/n. “I can assure you, Kansas is not all corn fields…only most of it and other farm lands.” He laughed and M/n’s face. “But honestly if you go to some of the cities like Wichita or Topeka those are more urban, it's the smaller towns that are farms really. Lucky for you, Smallville isn’t all farms.” M/n raised his brows and nodded. “Uh-huh. I’ll believe it when I see it.”
Was this the point that Clark told his boyfriend they’d be STAYING on a farm? He had already known that right? Clark honestly couldn’t remember if M/n knew or not and decided to just let it roll. I mean…they were staying with Ma and Pa and the Kent’s OWNED a farm.
Oh well.
Soon the train pulled into the station and came to a stop. Clark helped M/n with the luggage and carried them. “I can carry mine Clark, it's no problem.” Clark chuckled and shook his head. “I got it. Don’t worry. Besides, this is nothing.” Of course he was referencing his superstrength. To him it really was nothing. M/n also knew it was pointless trying to argue with him and let it go.
The two of them left the station and were greeted by the sight of a rather small town. “Well…this is quaint.” M/n said with a smile. Honestly he didn’t mind the small town, it was a nice change of pace from the hustle of Metropolis.
Soon there was the sound of a horn honking and they watched as a pickup truck pulled into the parking lot. “Clark! Oh Clark!” Once the truck parked a nice older couple jumped out and soon tackled Clark into a tight embrace. Obviously his parents. “Hi Ma. Hi Pa.” He returned their embrace for a while before they broke apart.
Martha then turned her attention towards M/n. Her smile never fading or breaking. “And you must be M/n! Clark has told us so much about you!” She then engulfed M/n in a hug. “It’s so nice to meet you.” She pulled back and that’s when Jonathan walked up. “Pleasure to meet you M/n. Put ‘er there.” He said lifting his hand for a handshake. M/n returned the handshake. “Pleasure to meet you too sir.”
“Alright let’s get you two back to the farm. I bet you two are hungry.” Jonathan helped take the cases from Clark and load them in the truck. Soon all of them were in the truck and on their way back to the farm. As they drove through town Clark and Martha pointed out certain places and landmarks, each with their own story.
“Oh look! M/n that’s the high school where Clark went to. Clark, do you remember that time-” Clark blushed at almost every story Martha told. Most of them embarrassed Clark but M/n absolutely loved hearing about his boyfriend’s life before. “And that’s the farmer’s market stalls, that happens every weekend. Clark used to go with us all the time back in the day. He’d go running off to eat the samples though.” Martha giggled at that. “Ma…”
“What’s that?” M/n pointed to a newer looking building that seemed to be reaching the end of construction. Jonathan seemed to grunt at that. “A new LexCorp office. They bought a couple of farm’s out here for their own. I don’t like it.” M/n looked to Clark who was frowning. He could tell Clark wasn’t liking it either. He’d talk to him about it later.
It wasn’t much longer before they were out of town and going down a gravel road. More cornfields. M/n could tell Clark was looking at him with that smug smile on his face. Soon a large and beautiful farmhouse came into view. The Kent Family Farm. M/n had seen photos of it before but they didn’t do it justice.
Soon the truck was parked and Martha was already booking it to the house. “I’m going to get lunch started for you both!” Clark laughed. “It’s alright Ma! You don’t need to!” Martha only waved him off, she wasn’t taking no for an answer.
Clark went to grab the bags with Jonathan. M/n was going to grab his as well but stopped when he heard a dog bark. “WAS THAT A DOG!?” He turned around and soon a blur of white ran across the yard and jumped into his arms. “RUFF!” The dog licked at his face and made M/n laugh. “That’s Krypto. Hey boy! How are you?” Clark rubbed the dog's head. “He missed you.” Jonathan said moving into the house. Clark and M/n followed after him with Krypto trailing behind.
The inside of the Kent’s house was just as beautiful as the outside. The entire place gave a sense of warmth and familiarity. Photos of the family lined the walls and tables. Most were of Clark throughout the stages of his life. M/n looked at each and every one of them. “I sat the bags in your old room, Clark. Figured you’d stay in there.”
“That’s fine, thanks Pa.” Clark moved to place the bags in the room and M/n followed.
Clark’s room…made M/n smile. The room OBVIOUSLY hadn’t been touched since Clark left for Metropolis. Lots of his movie posters were still up with different drawings and fliers. It really did give off the vibe of a high school senior’s room before leaving for college. “So…this was your room?” M/n said with a smile before picking up a photo with a young Clark and some friends. “It’s adorable.”
Clark’s face turned bright red from blushing. He rubbed the back of his neck as he looked sheepish. “Yeah, when I left I never really put anything away. Honestly, I kind of half expected to return rather soon. When I didn't it was a surprise. Guess Ma and Pa didn’t touch a thing. Though now it’s pretty embarrassing.”
“I don’t think so…okay maybe just a bit, but I think that happens to a lot of people.” M/n laughed and planted a kiss to Clark’s cheek. “Now how about you show me around a bit?”
“Gladly.”
Clark showed M/n around the farm. Honestly there wasn’t a lot to really look at. Fields, the barn, some animal pens, and of course the house. But both were enjoying the company of each other as they walked. “There IS some place I’d like to show you though.” Clark said.
He took M/n’s hand and walked him to the back of one of the farm buildings. At first it didn’t seem like anything was there, but then Clark moved one of the panels. “A secret door?” Clark smirked and nodded. “After you.” M/n walked into the hole. He expected to see some sort of farm storage or something but instead saw a nice little hideaway.
“This is my nook. I used to come here a lot when I just needed to get away from things.” Clark said as he sat down on a pillow. M/n looked around the place. It was small and decorated with a blanket and some pillows. A few books and posters were around. “This is cool. Did you make this place?”
“Yes and no. The building is used to store old equipment and things. But I discovered there was this back section that wasn’t being used. So I kind of made it my own.” M/n laughed and sat on another pillow. “Do your parents know about this place?”
Clark chuckled. “Oh I’m sure. You can’t hide anything from Ma. Pa? Sure, but Ma? No way.”
“Speaking of, we should probably head back. I’m sure lunch is probably done.”
“Yeah and knowing Ma she won’t stop fussing until we eat.”
Clark stood up and helped M/n up. He placed another kiss on his boyfriend’s lips before they left the nook. “I’m glad I got to share this with you.” M/n smiled. “I am too. I like getting to learn more about you.” He held Clark’s hand as they left.
They sealed up the hole before heading back to the house. Something told M/n that this trip was going to tell him a bunch about Clark he didn’t know.
As I'm sure many of you know, Scott Patterson who played Luke on Gilmore Girls has a Gilmore Girls-themed podcast and Jared made an appearance in one of the recent episodes.
Before we hop into it from henceforth Scott Patterson is gonna appear as SP and Gilmore Girls as GG.
So this interview was uploaded on Oct 6th, but it was done after Kansas con weekend (23rd to the 25th Sept) we know this because near the end of the panel Jared mentions he had been with Jensen the past weekend in Kansas City.
SP asks Jared how things are going and how the family is doing, Jared says they're great and he gives the kid's names, ages, and school grades. Says O is 5 but thinks she’s 35, and rules the roost, and that it's his day off and he was an hour outside of Austin that he and G snuck out there to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
I believe he got away from the hustle and bustle of the city, not sure about his supposed company.
Then SP says he’s in Nova Scotia right now filming a project. That it’s beautiful there, and one of his co-stars is Chad Michael Murray. He doesn't mention what it is he's filming but I was curious so I looked up it's a new show called Sullivan's Crossing.
Jumping right into the questions, was GG Jared's first acting gig that he got hired for? Not technically. Between junior and senior high, he won a contest to be a presenter at the first teen choice awards. At the afterparty, he met Dan Spilo who is his manager to this day, and Spilo asked if he did acting to which Jared replied that he acted in school, and did speech-and-debate, that he loved acting so Spilo gave him his card and told him to keep in touch.
Jared went back to San Antonio to finish his senior year of high school, and Spilo would send him scripts. He would memorize his lines in the script and his mom would film him while she was reading the other character's lines, and Spilo told him he thought he had talent and he could work.
Says his plans were to go to UT Austin and do engineering and premed like his brother had done. And that while his parents were supportive of his acting they thought it sounded like a pipe dream and wanted him to have a backup plan which he was okay with, he was excited to go to Austin and build a life there but then during spring break of his senior year, which fell on Pilot season, he flew out and got a Pilot for a series called Silent Witness which did not get picked up, and that at first his parents were like "okay, you gave it a shot" then the check came in for the Pilot and they were like "follow your dreams son!" 😆He put some of that money away for school then used the rest to drive to Cali with his papaw, his grandfather from his mother’s side. He stayed over at Spilos' house, and did some auditions, and he says back in the 2000s if you were a teenage white dude there was a role for you in every project being made so he got tons of auditions, he booked a guest spot on ER, a movie called A Little Inside, and a four ep guest stint on GG which hadn't aired yet.
At the same time that he got offered those 4 eps on GG he was also offered an independent movie that paid 10 times the money and another that paid 6 times the money. GG hadn’t even aired yet he was this kid who grew up in a small house he was thinking about the money but his agent and manager told him that they thought the show had legs, was intelligent, charming, and heartwarming, and convinced him to grab the GG role instead of the movies.
What does he remember about the audition? He remembers going in, and to the best of his recollection, his first audition was with Lauren and Jaime. They seemed to love him, and he felt like they dug him but he doesn’t know how much of it was them being lovely and professional so he didn’t want to get his hopes up in case they were just nice because he was a kid. Then they brought him back in to audition for Amy and Gavin and they also seemed to dig him, and it was a classic audition room some people were acting really calm and cool while others were acting like they didn't know what they were doing; he went into the room and he said his lines two or three times, had a good feeling from Amy, he felt like she could tell that he was an actor. That he didn’t want to be famous he understood that if he became a successful actor fame might be a part of the equation but he was there to try and tell a story, not for the fame. He had lived 17yrs in Texas, gone to school, and lived a normal life and he thinks that in Amy's mind at least that was refreshing for Dean cause he was a small-town-minded kind of guy even though he grew up in Chicago. He felt at home in Stars Hollow cause he was kind of a low-key guy and Jared was a low-key kid.
SP says the thing that struck all of them was how good of an actor Jared was at such a young age that he was blowing them away, and that his character had one of the greatest character introductions he has ever seen on TV when he meets Rory and they do the book exchange that he was the coolest guy and Jared really knew how to play it and how to handle it. So as critical as he can be with other people’s work he was stunned at how good Jared was and still is that every performance he gave was flawless, and they gush about Jared's performances on the podcast. It was above and beyond what everybody expected and SP didn’t realize until he watched the show how good Jared was.
What was it like meeting Alexis and working with her? She too was a kid from Texas who didn’t know she was going to be on tv, he doesn't know her exact story although he says he would love to know it. But she too was also kind of a fish out of water so that was helpful.
Jared says his comfort zone is acting and focusing on the story. When he got GG it was just 4 eps that's all he had signed a contract for and he thought it was cool that he got to explore a character in more than one ep cause a lot of auditions at the time were for one episode guest slots but with GG he was like "oh 4 episodes how neat".
That in the best way possible he always felt like a guest on the set, even in the seasons where he had more episodes or was more heavily involved in the eps he was in, and that he was famous for how many cookies he would eat every day. He didn't have a lot of money at the time, he had rent to pay so he would go at the end of the day and see if there was any leftover food and there was a big platter of Hollywood company cookies. He shares that one time, maybe during s2 or 3, he was getting more into fitness and aware of calories and it was the early 2000s lots of messages about avoiding saturated fat and getting more fiber, and he randomly called the cookie company one day cause he would eat 8 or 9 of the things and they were not small cookies they were like pancakes. He calls them up and asked for the nutrition like the fats, and calories and stuff so he knew how much to work out to burn it off and the response was "do you like the cookies?" and Jared goes "I love them!" and they tell him"let’s just say this. As much as you love them that’s how many calories they have" they made it clear those cookies were made with love and butter. Says he misses them, they were white chocolate macadamia cookies.
Honestly, fuck the early 2000s view on food, and the damage it has caused in all of us. I hope he has grown a healthier relationship with food, one that doesn't involve worrying about how many calories the cookies he enjoys has and how he's gonna work them off.
Anyways he says through school he had done plays, and debate, and speech and he just loved storytelling. He’s always been a fan of those people who tell a story and everyone is captivated and can make you laugh or cry or both. And at the time while he was filming he still had his housing assignment and secondhand books and thought he’d make as much money as possible and then go back to school. So he was like 'enjoy it while you can'; it wasn’t his career yet, he was thinking the money he could make filming those eps were gonna be helpful to pay for his loans. So he worked really hard on his scenes, and he remembers the exact amount of the paycheck for his first ep of GG. It was 1,234 and he when he got paid he thought he was loaded.
SP says Jared came at it with gratitude and no expectations and Jared comments that even now he comes at it with gratitude. For him, he just really enjoys the work that goes into it and the filming of the scene is the least exciting part what he loves is the rehearsal process whether that's with or without somebody else. His fav part is going through a tv show over and over again and then getting to set to see what sticks and what the rest of the cast and crew wanna do.
Is he similar to Dean? Was he similar to him in high school? In high school, no. He didn't have the confidence Dean had; Dean had a quiet confidence from the get that Jared learned from. He was still 17 he was a kid in every way he'd never left the country, only left the state like twice in his life and it was with his family. San Antonio isn’t a small town but he was kind of a small-town kid, his life was the 3-mile radius around his house which was made up of the grocery store, his school, and his friend's house so maybe similar to Dean because he grew up in Chicago but felt at home in a smaller microcosm. He thinks that was similar, and that he certainly had similarities- he feels like he learned a lot from Dean, that Amy and the gang wrote a character that was really lovable, he had some hiccups across the seasons, but he started out just a good kid.
He mentions there was a scene he was talking about with one of the crew members on Walker and she told him her fam and she were always team Dean and he was like "really?" and she said yeah that the scene where he and Lorelai are eating pizza and talking about his motorcycle seemed sweet, it was wholesome.
SP says one of the ballsiest things he's ever seen a character do on the show is when Dean was over for a movie night and Rory excused herself leaving him and Lorelai alone, and she gave him the speech (the don't hurt my daughter or I'll hurt you speech) and after Lorelie is done he doesn't miss a beat and goes my turn.
That it was very impressive, does Jared remember filming that? He does. He remembers they were all on stage and he remembers the set and he thinks they were on stage 14 or 16.
He also remembers that behind the camera early on in the first season he doesn't remember what he was doing but he was being a little shit and SP walked him into the school set and gave him a talking to because at the time Jared was just playing he was doing the things he would do in school when rehearsing for a play, and the message he remembers from that talk was "hey, we’re working here" and he remembers going "I needed to hear that, right here right now" cause if he wanted to make a career out of it he needed to remember they weren't there to play, it's a job the studio or network was spending millions of dollars. So he thanks SP for that.
The things SP remembers most about Jared on set were their discussions about training and Jared wanting to gain weight. Jared remembers there was a time when he got to set and shook SP's hand not knowing SP had been kickboxing and had like a fracture.
What does he remember about having to film the high school party fight scene with Milo? And how log did it take with that choreography? It was shot at the WB ranch and he feels like they shot it in a night.
GG was known for being a long day he remembers driving off the lot on other occasions at like 6am and driving past the guards and them being like "GG?". They shot in November or December from 6pm to 6 am and Milo was super fit that when you're doing a stunt sequence with somebody who is not super physically capable it’s worrisome cause you don’t know if he's coordinated and you think you're gonna get hurt but he didn’t feel that way with Milo. Milo is fit and seemingly always has been and still is and so he remembers thinking it was gonna be fun, it was a good time. And they’ve always gotten along extremely well, so it helps a lot when you trust and respect those you're working with especially in a physical sequence.
He also says Milo helped show him the ropes cause even a season into GG he was still a white belt, and shares the lunch story about how Milo is the one who let him know they were allowed to leave set.
Does he know or have any guesses as to who Rory's baby daddy is? He doesn’t know for sure, his understanding is that it has changed a couple of times. He has some guesses but he wouldn’t put it past the Palladino's to change it.
Says that when they did the GG reunion he was supposed to be in more of it but at the time he was shooting SPN in Van so they had to whittle it down and grab him on a free day.
Can he talk about his work when it comes to mental health advocacy? He doesn’t like to say that he has mental health struggles, he prefers to say relationship. Shares the quote about pain and suffering, and says he takes his relationship with his mental health very seriously that he sees a doc every week and has for years. It occurred to him that especially in the early GG years, he thinks he’s always had underlying anxiety mostly but also depression, at times he got pretty bad. He felt like there he was playing pretend for a living, buying a house with money he made, in magazines, making new friends but he would go home and cry sometimes, or sit and not do anything.
There was nothing on paper he could write down that he was unhappy about so he didn't know why he was anxious or sad, and he adds the note that you can feel sad and not be depressed. So he would wonder what was wrong with him, then one day with a lot of friends and family and the fandom it was a leap of faith to open up about this, and he was worried and anticipating judgement but instead, he was met with nothing but love and support. His main message is if you feel like you’re alone, you’re not. Humans are human, we all have highs and lows, and someone can be happy on the outside and sad on the inside and that’s okay no feeling is final; keep your head up and be honest about it. The biggest deal for him was to say he was dealing with something while on the outside he looks like he has everything someone could wish for but that doesn’t mean the brain won't do what it does.
Then there's a little bit of talk about spn, what can he say about that experience of being on a single network and dspn for more than two decades? Says spn was CW before the CW, that season 1 was on WB so for many years spn was the only show on tv that was older than the network that aired it. They had a lot of scares and moments they thought they were done for but they were this little show that could and much like GG, it had a very dedicated audience.
That spn was a really magical show and experience it’s where he met his wife who was on s4 (🙄) and where he got to meet people that have become close friends and family, and it's where he feels he earned his black belt. Anything that could be done on screen he did it on spn, it was a huge blessing and the fandom is outstanding that at the cons he'll see faces he's seen over the decades that it doesn’t feel like star-fan it’s like long-time friends. A shared passion.
SP asks about Jensen. Jared says he just calls him Ackles that he doesn’t think he’s called him Jensen in 12 years.
Is he excited to see how the prequel unfolds? He says yes. This is where he mentions that he had been with Jensen recently in Kansas for the con. Says their kids go to the same school, and that they're dear friends. That he was texting him the day previous because Jensen was talking about some app that you can use to stream tv because sometimes Jared is in his trailer and wants to "watch Walker or whatever"....I love the domesticity but my boy, do you not know Netflix? Hulu? Disney+?
Continuing, he says they talk about all sorts of stuff, that Jensen's a fellow Texan, he grew up in North Dallas, has a wife and three kids and he's (Jared) is a Texan with a wife and three kids, both are country music fans they have lots to talk about; that he's got 3 young kids, and a wife, and a couple of jobs so he doesn't really see anybody unless their last name is Padalecki and live in the same house or they work on Walker (that's a load of bull) but Jensen has directed Walker and they're hoping to get him on board but he's filming in NM right now.
I imagine Jared's internal monologue when talking about Jensen during this podcast was "don't be suspicious" because if you listen to this part of the podcast it's clear, imo, that Jared is being cautious with what he says the most noticeable moment being when he has to pause to figure out how to describe who Jensen is to him after saying that their kids go to the same school, or how he mentions casually texting Jensen and then feels the need to mention they both have wives and that he doesn't really see anybody unless it's his wife and kids or somebody from the set.
SP says that Jensen is a heck of a musician isn’t he? Jared answers that he’s great, he has a great voice, great guitar- that always when they had late nights on spn he’d take his guitar over to Jensen's trailer or vice versa and they’d sit together and strum and play a little bit. Since the day he met him back in 2005, Jensen has been noodling on a guitar and singing his beautiful voice. Even when being cautious the husband jumps out.
Final questions how did Walker come about? During s14 of spn Jensen and he had a conversation and made the decision that it was time to hang up the flannel because their wives and kids lived in Austin and they were working in Van and they felt it was time for them to meet their wives and kids. So they approached the studio network and told them if they did another year it would be their last one. Then talking with Mark Pedowitz who was president of CW at the time he told Jared that if he was ever interested in getting back on camera or developing or something he hoped he would be Jared's first phone call. And Jared sort of tried to talk his way out of it saying it would have to be in Austin and he would want to be a producer to help develop it but Pedowitz was in total agreement.
Jared talked to his manager, and he once again for some reason added the detail that this is the same manager he has had since high school, but anyways he doesn't remember who it was that brought up Walker who is a Texas ranger and the HQ for the rangers is in the Capital of Texas which is Austin so basically it fit and from their initial conversations the idea was always about Walker being a family man who happens to be a ranger, a guy trying the best he can; that he’s been fortunate to have a lot of friends in law enforcement and military and they have difficult jobs but they’re just people. People are people they are human beings with emotions and feelings and highs and lows. He also mentions the oped that he read in the Times about the officer working the border who gave up the badge because they couldn't do what was being asked of them of separating a child from their family.
At the time of this being filmed, he was filming episode 6 of Walker. And he mentioned that Walker Independence had been in development before Walker even aired. That Seamus Fahey who is the showrunner on Walker Independence and was then co-EP for Walker started to think about the Walker family and their roots and he thought there was a story there, Jared agreed and they started to work on it.
Then they do a little GG trivia game and while doing it Jared shares a little LOTR story. So he read the books before the movies came out, and he thinks this was during s3 of GG they were doing a massive scene they shot it on the lot everybody was in it including Ed Herrmann who noticed Jared was reading the book. He went over to Jared and asked him if he was enjoying them, Jared told him he was loving them and that he wanted to get through them before the movies came out, and then Herrmann asked him where he was in the books, Jared replied he was reading Fellowship of the Ring and they had just gone through the mines of Moria. Herrman looks away for a moment then turns back to Jared and recites the passage he had just been reading 5mins ago verbatim.
And that was Jared's appearance on the GG podcast! And this was a lot longer than I expected oh my goodness, if you want to check out the podcast for yourself you can do so through Spotify, Apple Podcast, and iHeart radio.
I was not Offered any Pre-Abortion Counseling
Aimee
Missouri, United States
I recently turned 50. I have had many years to do nothing but think about the abortion that took the life of my unborn child. I was 18 years old and got pregnant my senior year in higher school. He was my high school sweetheart and the first person I even had sex with. Within a month of my 18th birthday, I found out I was pregnant. Literally the first or second time we had sex. I was nervous. My parents are church goers. They did not want to be embarrassed with having an unmarried pregnant teenager.
Abortion for this child was not discussed. However, I moved in with my mother to hide from the people of the church. Although that didn’t phase me. My mother once did beg me to abort. But for this child I chose life. I had a baby girl in Oct 1990. She was mine and for while it was just her and I. I returned to my hometown and worked at a restaurant for awhile.
My daughter was two years old. I dated one of the cooks for a while. Being stupid I failed to use protection with him. He was verbally and physically abusive. I found myself pregnant in April 1993. I will be honest I wanted this problem to just go away. I had very little money. Had one child already. I was not married. I did not want to have another child by a different partner. I just ignored it for a few weeks. Then decided what needed to be done.
I scheduled an abortion in June 1993. I was taken to Planned Parenthood in Kansas City. The staff ushered me into an interview room. Asked a couple of questions. Given info on the vacuum type abortion. I was not offered any pre-abortion counseling. I was not made to wait to validate my decision. It was like pulling a tooth to them. I was sent to the procedure room alone. I was asked to get in the feet holders and spread my legs. I did not meet my abortionist until my legs were spread and my body was in position.
I asked the nurse if I was making the right decision. She told me it was, based on my history and having a child already and no money, it was the best thing I could do. I was encouraged and cheered on at the decision to have an abortion. I was sedated. I then begged to see the ultrasound so I could see my baby once. They refused. I cried and cried. I tried to close my legs, but they were spread against my will. They said I was fine and continued the vacuum tube was put in my vagina and the vacuum turned on. I said I wanted to run away and save the life of my baby. They ignored me, I was semi sedated. The procedure was over pretty fast. I was still bleeding when I was taken to a recovery room.
I was there a short period. I was sent away still bleeding, with a fever and a script for doxycycline. I had to have a D&C at the ER the next day. As there were parts left inside me. I did eventually recover physically. The magnitude of the guilt I felt never goes away. I was convinced I would never have any more children. I felt I was being punished by God. I always seemed to get pregnant easily. After my abortion I did not.
For many years I prevented pregnancy. Even after my first marriage I never got pregnant for 6 years. My abortion had affected my ability to get pregnant and damaged my female reproductive system. I did go on and have another child 17 years after having my only daughter and 14 years after my abortion. My two daughters are now 31 and 14.
I had to explain this to them both and explain why their sibling had to die. I have tried to make a case against Planned Parenthood for years. Over my forced abortion and sexual assault. But I have always been dismissed. I live with the depression, mental scars and grief over my missing baby. I wonder who he would have been. What he would have become. Had I been given more time and options. Had I been able to meet e doctor before my abortion. If I had been able to see my baby, I might have fought harder and had a different outcome
Highlights from the Olathe Planning Commission:
Here is a quick guide to just some of what you might have missed while you were watching your own behavior and trying not to catch the eye of the armed police that were everywhere at a city Planning Commission. (Because your rights to petition government are subservient to the rights developers have that people not be mean to them…!)
Commissioner: tell us how this proposal is a “Main Street…”
Baby Planner #1 ‘-erm well, main streets... are, in the main, a street that’s, er… well - look - like this pic …
Tumblr media
… but not really…. because - um it’s sometimes all houses and I think, well I mean …! It can be an ‘L’ shape - or not, but here - yes…’
Other Planner: ‘If I could help clarify - we have determined that the answer my colleague gave is correct and he doesn’t need to say more - Hope that helps…!’
————————————————
One Strange Householder: ‘I suppose I like trees more than big rental buildings but I won’t spit in Mr Oddo’s eye just for the sake of my view, the noise, the value of my property, the destruction of our environment, increased traffic, the views of all of my neighbors, the loss of peace and character in Cedar Creek…. I mean is it not better just to roll over and curl up on a floor rug …?’
Tumblr media
Second Strange Householder: ‘I am happy to be here. It’s nice to get out. Hello everyone 👋🏻. I just so happen to completely agree with that last speaker - who happens also to live in my house. And also is my wife. (can you believe we found each other…?)’
————————————————
Baby Planner: A Cedar Creek Town Center is designed to look different from the rest of Cedar Creek”
(Area Plan:
Tumblr media
oops…!
————————————————
Commissioner: can you explain how this is a ‘green building’…?
Architect: ‘It’s got windows … we could put solar on it some day …! We might choose a green carpet …! (No promises!)’
————————————————
Commissioner: Can you explain how this is suited to the current character of Cedar Creek?
Baby Planner: ‘Well … here in Colorado multi level ski lodges are very attractive (wait, what? ) sorry I mean here in Kansas…. So, anyways, It’s a lovely tower complex that fits in with all the other High-Rise Town Centers in the Cedar Heights area …’
————————————————
Commissioner: why does this building have to be so high?
Architect: “Because, that’s how we build them! We won’t just build to ‘some rule’ that everybody just ignores…” (said to the body that administers the ‘some rules’…! Clear who wears the pants in that relationship!)
————————————————
Baby Planner: “The project will only use ‘class A materials like ‘cultured stone’…!”
Oddo Plans:
Tumblr media
Meanwhile - (Area Plan: “Synthetic Stone Veneer - Not Allowed”)
oops…! Again…! ————————————————
Baby Planner: ‘It’s a “Town Center”
Architect: “It’s a resort”
The David Mann/Roth Studios El Forastero “New Years Party” Painting
In 2018, we acquired the original “El Forastero New Years Party” painting by David Mann, which was marketed by Roth Studios. The painting depicts the El Forastero MC New Years Eve 1967 party, which took place in a mining cave on the south side of Kansas City, Missouri, and is a romanticized memory of the celebration. There were no bikes in the cave that night due to the cold weather and snow. Members instead arrived in Skip Taylor’s blue bus, which is featured in the upper left of the painting as well as in the video below. Skip can be seen in the lower center of the painting wearing a German military helmet with Polock Joe in his sidecar.
A local blues band was hired and can be seen in the top center. On the left, Peg Leg Dave is depicted on the red panhead. Directly above him is Graycat beside his bike notable for the devil’s pitchfork sissy bar. Near the fire is a shirtless African American man: Sam Barnes who co-founded the Missouri charter. Toward the center left is Fat Frank wearing black polka dots on white and passed-out of the cave floor.
In the lower right corner is Tom “Fudge” Fugle. Tom’s rocker, reads “MO” (Missouri) which is a mistake, made by Mann, as Tom, who co-founded the club, was from Iowa. Tom’s co-founder, Tiny Brower, is in the center of the painting with a black beard. There are several names of EFMC members painted on a pillar toward the right. A few are less obvious, including: Dan Jungroth, who co-founded EFMC MN; Turk, who co-founded EFMC Wichita.
Dave Mann, the artist, is depicted under the 1%er sign toward the right and dropping shotgun shells into the fire. His early moniker in EFMC was “El Kabong,” but it did not stick. It’s possible that the shotgun shells are a sly reference to Polock Joe’s exploding dynamite in the cave at the end of the party, which explains why everyone is running out in the film below. Mann signed the painting by cleverly disguising it to look as if his name was stitched onto the front of his colors.
¡Hola, buenos días, humanidad! 🌍 ¡Feliz jueves! 🌅 😊💕Hoy os regalo la foto de Kansas City, Estados Unidos. Ubicada en la confluencia de Kansas y Missouri, la ciudad respira vida con su arquitectura distintiva y una mezcla ecléctica de vecindarios. Desde el famoso distrito de entretenimiento de Power & Light hasta la ecléctica escena gastronómica de Westport, cada rincón de Kansas City ofrece una experiencia única. Los amantes del jazz pueden sumergirse en la energía de 18th & Vine, el lugar de nacimiento de este género musical. Además, la ciudad se enorgullece de sus equipos deportivos, como los Chiefs de la NFL y los Royals de la MLB, que unen a la comunidad en una pasión compartida. Con parques extensos, museos impresionantes y una hospitalidad palpable, Kansas City se presenta como una joya del Medio Oeste norteamericano que cautiva a quienes exploran sus encantos.
Para tener en cuenta...
Solo espero que te mires en el espejo y recuerdes quién eres y quién no eres. No eres tus errores. No estás dañado por tus intentos que no salieron bien. No vale la pena escuchar a quienes no te conocen. Eres el resultado de lo que has aprendido. Eres más sabio por haber pasado por momentos difíciles, y eres esa valiente persona que superó muchas dificultades y siguió adelante. Ahora piensa que todo eso que ocurrió te hizo más fuerte, y piensa que el haber enfrentado tantos desafíos te ayudó a crecer y a ser una mejor versión de ti. Fuerza y honor.
Day 147b: Saturday May 27, 2023 - “Brew Crew”
Mama’s overnight in Milwaukee gave us a great excuse to get out of the house and follow her around the country for the first time.  Its awesome if we can get the right rhythm down and open flights.  I had about six hours to fill on the ground in Wisconsin and knowing William would need an afternoon nap at the zoo, I knew the perfect place to go land...the baseball game!  To our luck, the Brewers were in town, and William’s answer to if he wanted a hot dog for lunch was an emphatic “Ayes Ayes!”
Parking at the old Miller Park is like going to a rock concert  - its made for tailgaiting before the game in the huge parking lot.  I love this style.  Like Kansas City and even Dodger Stadium.  As I got William organized to go, diaper change and all, a Security guy drove by in a blue golf cart truck mobile, which stole all of William’s attention and since we were in the very back of the big lot I took a shot and waved the man down to ask if he’d have any interest in taking us up towards the park.  He saw the enthusiasm all over William’s face that we were approaching the fast, loud, blue guck.  I was glad he saw it.  He told us to hop in and hang on as he took the long way over into the empty lot where he could really “open it up for us” - William laughed and squealed the whole way.  It was no doubt at all that on a day where he rode an airplane, a yellow bus, a train around a zoo, and even a minivan - riding in that cart was by far the best part of the whole damn.  Signature moments.  Soak em in - these are the days.
Well since we were really on a roll, I figured why not let William ride the escalator by himself too. He was full of confidence and trust and felt fearless so we stepped right up and on, like a really really big boy, gripping on to my middle finger tight.  He loves escalators and up-er-downs (he’s going to love roller coasters), and so we made a big deal of it together to have him step on and off of all the escalators today - we’re in no hurry after all.  We climbed those escalators way up into our seats, high above the bases, just like the Goodnight Baseball book.  I had picked up two hot dogs on the way (assuming one for each of us), but my hungry, excited, big boy ate most of both of them, with lots of dippa.  “Eat as much of it as you want - just leave my fingers out of it!”  Baseball, Popcorn, and Hot Dogs - go together like 6,4,3.
I let him play in the Brewers play area with the other kids to burn some more energy as Corbin Burnes pitched to the Giants, down below. William smiled and drooled his way through every exciting new thing -  climing on Bernie and the big baseball, going through the big cap, and the Chalet Side - each one followed by a shimmey or his signature hop-skip move.  I made sure he knew, its ok to be a fan of any team, for a day - even the Cubs.  And I have to admit the Brewers and this stadium really has something nice - a great vibe, unique stadium, fun fans, great radio.  I first came here with William’s Mama 8 years ago and its always an interesting place for me, knowing that I almost lived here instead of St Louis and I like to think about how that would have been pretty great too.  An old friend.  And I thought about all of this, back in our seats, William sleeping on my belly as I drank a Leinenkugels in a 1-1 game that just seems to go by too fast.  I sat and sang Take Me Out and Roll Out The Barrels in the seventh inning stretch, and William was unmoved.  By the bottom of the 9th we’d collected our first Brewer’s Game certificate and joined the lower level crowd in hoping for a last ditch walk-off that would never come. The home team lost today and we never saw Bernie on the slide but either way, William puts his fifth notch in on his Major League Parks.  You just never know - if he grows up to a Brewers fan, it will be nice to show him this.
Just the last balls and strikes came across, Mama texted and said she was at the hotel.  She’d been working all day and was ready to see her boys.  And it was great timing - I’d been working all day and need her extra pair of hands (and a hug).   She helped us unpack the car, and reset before treating us to dinner at the Pub downstairs.  Feeling pretty high of myself for pulling off a big bite of a day that included getting up while its still dark and pulling off a 3.5 hour full flight, I raised and downed the local High Life before asking for another.  “You surprised I was able to pull off both the zoo and the baseball game?” I asked knowing that she knew exactly the answer I was looking for as William climbed on me from the booth behind us.  I really gave it my all for that little boy today.  Creating an experience for him, creating a rhythm to life and maybe a love of baseball or hippos. We toasted glass to our investment in this life with each other and our first time seeing Mama on an overnight.  A very important and nice level up for us and this friendly town of Milwaukee will be one we’ll remember as the first - even if William cant.
Play It Cool - Tyson Jost (20/n)
Tumblr media
Author’s Notes: Traveling home after being somewhere (or with someone) you love is always hard. I know I’ve felt some hard feels leaving Denver and other places to go back home. AJ’s got some big decisions to make.
Pairing: Tyson Jost x OFC (AJ)
Word Count: 3660
Warnings: language. Lonely feelings. I’m pretty sure that’s it this time around.
Need Chapter 19? Here you go! https://brainrattlers.tumblr.com/post/693990316680904704/play-it-cool-tyson-jost-19n
The drive back from St. Louis is brutal. I-70 in Missouri is the worst, with slow speed limits and stretches of nothing. At least when you hit the Kansas border and get through Kansas City, the road vastly improves and the speed limit goes up. But once you’ve gotten to Salina… it is slim pickings until you hit Denver. Hays, Colby, Goodland, Burlington, Limon… and it’s flat… so very flat. But once those mountain tops start peeking over the horizon, and you can see the air traffic flying in and out of DIA, you know you’ve hit civilization again.
But all the traffic in the world, which it feels like most of it is on I-70 and I-25 in Denver, couldn’t make AJ feel any less lonely. Her better half was a good third of the country away. And she really wasn’t LONELY - Jess, Nate, and other friends on the team clearly were still there. No offense to any of them, but they couldn’t replace that Tyson shaped piece missing in her heart.
About a third of the way through AJ’s drive back to Denver, she ended up talking to Tyson on speaker during what should have been afternoon skate - the Wild were playing San Jose that night. But erring on the side of caution, Tyson was going to sit out that game.
So much for Tyson being one of the few players that would have an odd “83 Games Played” in their stats for a season. But AJ would much rather have Tyson be healthy than injured and potentially get worse but have a fun stat.
“So where are you at now?”
AJ looked around the windows. She’d made this trip a few times, usually from her hometown to Denver. But having driven between home to St. Louis a few times, the surroundings were still familiar.
“I’m just west of Topeka, nearing my old hometown. I should have hit I-35 north at Kansas City instead… I’d be to St. Paul in about 6-7 hours from there. But I’ve got about seven hours just about to Denver. If I had another day off I’d stop in and say hey to some friends. But I’m ready to just be back in my own bed, curled up with Maple.” AJ sighed. “Fuck I don’t want to work tomorrow. Things are always worse when you’ve been gone a few days. Gotta get back in the swing of things.”
“I’m not 100% sure I can relate. I don’t know how you do it, babe, the 8 to 5. You know, you don’t have to… if you didn’t want to. You could have whatever job you wanted. Do your own thing. Part time even. I’d take care of you, of us.”
“Tyson, I… could never do that to you. That’s hardly fair. And not to be a negative Nancy, contract money isn’t a forever thing. I’ve worked contract before, and it terrifies me.”
He understood where she was coming from. The NHL was never a sure thing. Injuries. Not playing to the level they expect. More players upcoming that could play to that level (or higher). Being sent back to the minors. The only difference though is that he already was making millions of dollars, and that is a lot different than AJ’s salary. Thankfully his financial advisors were extremely helpful in his making decisions. And having grown up with far less money than that, he was a man of typically simple needs. Hell, the biggest thing he bought with his contract money was his Grand Cherokee, and it wasn’t even top of the line.
It certainly wasn’t Nate’s G-Wagon, or Burky’s Lambo. But it got him around comfortably.
But his words were true. If he were smart with his money, and could get a couple more seasons, he could easily provide a comfortable life for AJ and himself. And for his mom - he’d mentioned previously that he’d love to get her a nicer home when he retires. He wanted to help his grandparents. Tyson wanted to give back to those that helped him get to where he was.
And that included AJ, even in this short amount of time.
“How about we talk about that more later, yeah? I just want you to keep it in the back of your mind though - you know that I’m always here for you, and if you need help making that jump out here, I’ve got your back, babe. Just say the word, and we’ll make it happen. Speaking of that, the Jeep is getting picked up Tuesday, and I should have it by the end of the week. No more having to go over and start it for me to make sure it’s still working. Do you think you could put a few things in it for me? Fuck I can’t wait to have my vehicle again. I hate bumming rides and ubering everywhere.”
“I don’t know how you’ve done it this long. You know how attached I am to my car - it literally is one of the few things keeping me sane, being able to drive places. It gets me to you.”
Tyson could hear the smile on AJ’s face as she said that.
The two continued to talk for another couple of hours, until AJ had to stop to get gas in Hays, and he was having to get ready for the game, even if he wasn’t playing. Five more hours to go, and she’d be back home.
Home. The more she thought about it, the less that home was a place. Sure, all of her stuff was at her house in Lakewood, but just like when she went to Tyson’s old place to pack things… it didn’t feel homey. Something was missing. Home was a feeling. It was hitting that she felt more at home in St. Louis for a few hours with Tyson in her presence. Looking at the tiny bag on the passenger seat that a pineapple gummy ring was sealed in… the gummy ring felt like home. Hearing Tyson’s voice on the phone felt like home.
Tyson was what made someplace feel like home.
And her pillow. That’s why she always traveled with it. But she could replace those with new ones from Target.
One thing about driving this far, is that you have a lot of time to think about things. Sure, you have to keep your eyes on the road, you have to make sure your road snacks actually make it into your mouth, and that you have the correct balance of energy drinks so that the highway patrol is not going to pull you over for keeping your foot on the gas pedal while vibrating like a hummingbird. The perfect playlist rolls on, and there is much singing.
But the vast openness of Western Kansas/Eastern Colorado is utterly boring. AJ sang along to some Jimi Hendrix as she passed the exit for Grinnell. And her thoughts shifted to the ring in that little ziploc bag on the seat next to her. It was frustrating because it finally was feeling like she had her place in Denver. And now things were completely up in the air. Should she move to Minny? And if Tyson’s contract with the Wild ends, and he doesn’t get re-signed, where would he land after that? There were so many what-ifs. Overthinking started again.
Could/should I drop everything again and move?
Can I just up and leave Jess? Nate? At least Nate probably could understand. Maybe I should talk to Mel. Maybe some of the other gals, since Landy hasn't been traded before.
Is this crazy?
AJ was frazzled by the time she hit Limon. She had to call Jess, but also couldn't say the reason behind why Tyson wanted her to move so badly. Going against her better judgment, especially knowing she had a secret to keep, but still had to focus on the road, AJ made the call.
It was more than she had bargained for, as Nate was having dinner with Jess that night, so two perspectives were being presented. And while Jess was adamant about AJ leaving, she should be in Minnesota to support Tyson if AJ felt like their relationship was continuing to progress, Nate had similar views but something he said stood out.
"I wouldn't move unless he proposes."
"What do you mean?" AJ was panicking that Tyson spilled the beans again and told Nate.
"I'm just saying that I've seen women leave with guys and then they break up when they get there. Not that I think Tyson would ever do that to you. I just want you to be careful. Really think about it before you just jump in. I don't want you getting hurt, you deserve all the good in your life."
AJ could hear Jess' "aww that's really sweet!" in the background.
Realizing they were getting ready to eat, AJ thanked them for the input, as she had a lot to think about.
Tyson texted from the arena.
Tyson: almost home?
AJ: About an hour. Talked to Jess and Nate a bit.
Tyson: How are they doing? Are they trying to be the power couple we were there before lol
AJ: They have big shoes to fill, we're pretty awesome. I'm starting to hit traffic. Text when I'm at the house. Love you
Tyson: love you too babe
After getting around traffic, and picking up some In-n-Out on the way to her house, AJ unlocked the door, tossed her backpack onto the sofa, and collapsed with her Double Double and fries, animal style. She snapped a photo and sent it to Tyson.
Tyson: damn I miss that place.
It didn't occur to AJ that she would miss out on it if she moved up north. Granted, they do have Culver's in Minnesota. However, it’s just not the same, but it would be something to look forward to. She devoured her dinner, and tried to stay awake for updates on the game.
At the same time, AJ started looking around the room, and realizing what little she really had in the house. The big stuff could be sold. Most of the little stuff could be packed up and moved (again). And as she set the alarm on her phone for work the next morning, an idea washed over her, one that was impulsive.
"I'm going to do it."
With that thought, a weight felt like it had been lifted. One last text of the night was sent before AJ fell asleep with a smile.
AJ: can't stay awake, tired from the drive. But thinking about you, and the future. Our future.
AJ woke up early for work, even before her daily Good Morning from Tyson. She spent a few minutes looking up info for travel, and promptly shot an email off for work. And instead of waiting for Tyson’s message, she called him instead.
“Hey, is everything okay?” Tyson’s voice was laced with concern.
“Yeah, I woke up early, thought I’d call you this morning. Flying to Montreal this afternoon?”
“We are, but taking the day off again.Team doc wants me to rest it a bit more, probably won’t play. Wish I could show you around though, some cool stuff up there.”
It drove AJ nuts hearing that Tyson wasn’t getting to play. She knew how much he lived for it. But as long as he was progressing towards getting to play again, that was all she could hope for. And also she would love to have Tyson as a tour guide in all of these cities.
The call would have to be cut short though, she was needing to leave for work in a few minutes. It was going to be a brand new ballgame at work for her. The two wished each other good days, and of course Tyson’s favorite line of “text you when I get there.” was used.
There was a definite pep in her step as AJ worked through her day. Tyson sent along the list of things he wanted packed into the Grand Cherokee for when it was being picked up the next day. After work, she headed over, and packed a few things carefully into a bin, and tucked away a few extra post-its in spots.(And yes, Tyson was still finding more notes in pockets, in socks, and various places in the clothes that Laura picked up from Denver and brought to him.)
The two opted to eat “together” that night, having dinner while facetiming. There was something different about AJ that Tyson just couldn’t figure out, but he was happy she was in a good mood, especially after a Monday that she was dreading to be at work at. They even watched an episode of Game of Thrones together before Tyson headed off to sleep, in the hopes he might play the next day.
Sadly, he had the night off again, as well as one more game after that back home.
AJ was getting a little nervous, because she was plotting and scheming, and needed a healthy Tyson for her plan. She was also nervous otherwise, because it involved doing something that was a little outside of her comfort zone.
Somehow through everything, the work week was flying by. And Tyson was back to playing by the end of the week. Jess and AJ hit up another home Avs game, and she broke the news of her plan. It was right up both of their alleys - they were all about plotting, scheming, and SHENANIGANS. Tyson had one last away game in Nashville, and was back home for the rest of the regular season. It was taking everything within her to not tell him the plan. She made Jess also not give any hints that anything was out of the ordinary.
And finally the day came. April 27th.
There were cupcakes in the office for AJ’s last day working in the IT department.
The morning of the 28th, AJ got up ridiculously early (again) - 2:30AM to be exact. And she felt awful, she had to fib to Tyson about where she was that day, and decline his morning call, saying she had bad reception where she was. And actually that’s not entirely untrue… she was driving to St. Paul to surprise Tyson.
In fact, AJ was kicking herself - St. Paul was actually only 30 minutes further away by car than St. Louis. Although, St. Louis was pushing her limit on driving solo in a day - the sheer power of love (and caffeine) was going to get her through that extra half hour. It’s a good thing she had a bunch of playlists saved on her phone, along with a few of Tyson’s. The couple had very differing tastes in music, but occasionally AJ would find one of Tyson’s Spotify playlists that were okay. Of course it helped that they made her think of him too. One of the things she missed the most would be the two of them just being in each other’s company, sprawled out on the sofa together, reading, or playing a game on their phones, with someone’s playlist subtly playing in the background. It always warmed her heart to get to his place and hear one of her chill jazz playlists while he was cooking dinner.
After nearly THIRTEEN AND A HALF HOURS on the road (she had to stop to get gas a couple times, and took an extra long break to walk around a bit and wake up, and especially tired from driving through the rain most of the trip), AJ found herself in St. Paul, checking in to the extended stay hotel that Tyson had been living at for a month and a half at this point. She didn’t want to spoil the surprise yet, and just went straight to her room. Looking out the window, her heart skipped a beat - the valet actually parked her car next to a Grand Cherokee with Colorado plates. She knew it was Tyson’s.
Taking a few minutes to unpack, and just lounge on the sofa fighting off sleep, AJ got up and looked out the window again and saw Tyson’s vehicle was gone. Made sense, late afternoon, maybe he was snagging dinner or something. Seeing as how playing it cool was not her strong suit, she texted Tyson.
AJ: I think I’m done for the day. Exhausted.  What are you up to, babe?
It would be quite a while for a response to come back.
Tyson: Running a few errands. Almost home though. What is the plan for tonight? You wanna know something weird? I swore I saw your Soul this afternoon. Black, has a dent by the front right wheel. Made me think of you.
Panic set in. Did he really recognize her car?
AJ: Wow, that’s… really weird. I mean there are a lot of black Kia Souls out there. Not sure what the plan is for tonight yet. I’m exhausted, that’s for sure.
Looking around her small studio hotel room, she saw a lot of things that looked familiar from facetiming with Tyson. The sofa that butted up against the kitchen island, the tiny fridge and stove. Peeking in her bathroom, she saw the shower that looked just like Tyson’s. But the difference was that he didn’t have the studio, he had an actual bedroom suite. Turning back to the window though, her timing was perfect, catching the Grand Cherokee pulling into the lot, stopping by the back door to the lobby. It was pouring down rain outside, so no wonder he was stopping near the door.
AJ: OMG JESS I’M HERE AND HE’S JUST PULLING INTO THE LOT. DO I DO THIS?!
Except… there was someone in the front passenger seat getting out. Trying to get a better view, AJ ran to the bedroom window, feeling the blood drain from her face. The someone getting out of the passenger seat was a woman.
AJ’s heart sank into her feet. She thought she was going to throw up. She could barely keep her phone still enough to text again.
AJ: … what the FUCK THERE IS A WOMAN IN HIS CAR. I don’t even know what to do.
She couldn’t stop watching, needing to know who this person was getting out of the passenger seat. It seemed excruciatingly slow, especially with the wave of panic, nausea, sadness and fear that were causing the heart in AJ’s chest to race.
A petite brunette got out of the car and shut the door, running to the back door quickly avoiding the rain.
And with that, AJ sighed the biggest sigh of relief she’d had… probably since that first kiss with Tyson and not knowing if it was bad or good.
Jess: OMG GO DOWNSTAIRS!
Jess: WAIT WHAT
AJ wasn’t even paying attention to her phone, she threw on her shoes and hit the elevator as fast as she could. Heart still pounding in her chest, the elevator ride down to the first floor took FOREVER. But as soon as the door opened, she turned to the right and her heart straight up stopped.
Standing right there, with arms full of luggage, stood a beanie-clad Tyson, mouth agape.
AJ’s phone was buzzing like crazy in her pocket, but it didn’t matter at that moment in time. All that was happening was Tyson was staring at AJ, and AJ smiling back. There were so many thoughts going through his mind. She finally broke out of the trance and waved at Laura, standing behind Tyson.
“What… AJ… what.. Wha I…” Tyson wasn’t able to come up with a coherent statement. His eyes were filled with tears.
AJ was in a similar state. Laura was just smiling, leaning up against the wall in the hallway across from the elevators.
Tyson gently put the suitcases down and just wrapped his arms around AJ, tears streaming down his face. At first she thought it was just the rain on his hat and face, but it was definitely tears coming from his eyes. She’d never seen him break down like this before, and it caused her to get teary-eyed as well. Of course being exhausted from the drive didn’t help either. Tyson kissed the top of AJ’s head, and whispered in her ear softly.
“I missed you so much, Eggo. These last two weeks have been so hard without you. I can’t believe you or mom didn’t say anything.”
AJ leaned into the warmth of Tyson, as it was a little damp and chilly in the lobby. “She didn’t know either babe. I… probably should have actually planned this out a little more. But I don’t want to take away from mom time.”
Tyson laughed and finally broke the hug. AJ made a beeline to Laura and hugged her tight, apologizing for intruding on their time. She assured AJ it was fine, and that she was excited that they were both there. Offering to help carry stuff upstairs, AJ took a suitcase from Laura and the three took the elevator back upstairs. Tyson’s home was on the opposite end of the hallway from her’s.
Clearly the tears had subsided, and now Tyson was just full of questions, like:
“How long had you been planning this?”
“Why didn’t you tell me? Or mom?”
“Am I dreaming? I still can’t believe this. Are you really here?”
“You’ve been taking a lot of time off from work, is your boss okay with this?”
AJ had to stop him at this point though, as there was something pretty important she needed to tell Tyson. Both Laura and Tyson stopped unpacking things, and Laura offered to give them the room. AJ insisted it was okay, nothing THAT personal, but she did have a bit of an info bomb to drop.
AJ tried to come up with something clever, but really couldn’t.
“So yeah, about the boss… I don’t really have one anymore.”
Doctor's say that I'm a stage 4 cancer patient and that there is no cure for the brain tumor..only radiation treatment or chemotherapy...they won't have to do surgery on my lungs...instead they will be treating it with a few medicine hoping some of the radiation treatment will take all the mass in my lungs....all I can do is pray, keep my head up and except that God has plans for..I started a GoFundMe support account if anyone can help me get through this condition...
Tom Brady vender tilbake til NFL som kringkaster
Som den legendariske NFL-quarterbacken vil Tom Brady returnere til NFL som kommentator iført dress. Tom Brady, som utallige fans er kjent med, dukker alltid opp på banen iført Amerikansk Fotball Drakter nr. 12. Nå er ikke Tom Brady spiller lenger, og han har kommet tilbake til fansens oppmerksomhet på en ny måte.
Tom Bradys første kamp som kunngjører er Dallas Cowboys versus Cleveland Browns. Det er fortsatt ukjent hvilket lag han støtter. Fansen ser frem til hva slags kommentarstil Tom Brady, som har vunnet Super Bowl syv ganger, vil bringe til fansen. Og Tom Brady valgte også å være kommentator etter at han ble pensjonist. Han ønsket ikke å holde seg unna NFL og elsket denne sporten. Siden quarterback Tom Brady trakk seg, er nå ligaens veteran-quarterback Aaron Rodgers under stort press. Aaron Rodgers' skadeproblem har blitt gjenvunnet i løpet av offseason, og han vil lede New York Jets mot San Francisco 49ers. Tom Brady kan imidlertid ikke forklare dette spillet. Han ser også frem til prestasjonen til sin gamle rival Aaron Rodgers i den første kampen. NFL har alltid vært en ekspert på å skape fokus, og åpningskampen skal etter planen være en kamp mellom Kansas City Chiefs og Baltimore Ravens.
Før Tom Brady forklarer sitt eget spill, kan han se konkurranseevnen til åpningskampen. Baltimore Ravens, forrige sesongs ordinære sesong MVP, vil møte Kansas City Chiefs, Super Bowl MVP. Men når Dallas Cowboys spiller mot Cleveland Browns, vil fansen vise Tom Brady Drakter. Tom Bradys pensjonisttilværelse har ikke blitt glemt av fansen, og fansen hans vil bli overrasket under den første kommentaren.
