Kara: I'd maybe have understood if she'd scraped it out herself rather than sharing it with me, but she didn't even eat it! She just... washed it up.

Kara: All that lovely cake batter, washed away down the drain like it was nothing. I'm not sure I can ever see her quite the same way after this.

Alex:

I think about that one scene from CWs Supergirl at least once a month.

Where she's talking to her mother's hologram? Where's she's screaming how her mother could send her away.

Her screaming out her pain and grieving, mourning the loss of her people and her planet. Saying that being sent to Earth was a life sentence? Letting her powers off at her mother's hologram?

Literally never fails to make me emotional. I love angry/hurt Kara. Bc as much as she loves Earth and the family and friends she made on Earth, she will still forever be a girl from a dead planet.

Not even Clark can grieve in the way Kara does (not to discredit Clark's grief, it's just different) bc he was sent away as a baby and he holds no memory of Krypton, of a life and family and friends and planet. Kara does. She holds memories of her people of her culture, friends and family. Losing it all is just devastating.

I love it so much idk just thinking about it again. The actress Melissa Benoist just really portrayed the scene incredibly and it never fails to make me feel mentally unwell

I rewatch the scene so often pls if you don't know what I'm talking about pls watch it

The animations, the plot, and the MoCap were on another level. This game predicted the AI.

DBH will remain in the history of videogame.

As much as I absolutely despise the fact that we never got to see Lena and Kara properly together on screen, I understand (given how the show was written) why they would’ve gotten together after the fact.

Despite Lena being her best friend, Kara always had to keep her at arms length. She couldn’t allow Lena to truly know her, not all of her. They couldn’t have had a true, meaningful and intimate relationship until Kara could show Lena her entire self.

Everybody saw Supergirl. Everybody admired Supergirl. But as Kara, she was used to being unseen. Even the few people who did acknowledge her also knew she was Supergirl. They knew what she was capable of, even subconsciously. She had proven herself to them.

Lena was the only one who knew Kara just for Kara and loved her for it. She didn’t need her to be Supergirl to see the true hero inside of her. She believed in her capabilities after just one meeting.

Somehow being the only one not to know the secret made Lena the only one who truly knew Kara just for who she was, without her powers, without the supersuit. Just Kara Danvers. And that was always more than enough for Lena.

What I’m getting at is this,

I think Kara was afraid to give up the only person who ever truly made her feel seen, wanted, and loved for exactly who she is.

Coming to terms with who she is, (not Kara, not Supergirl, but some perfect combination of the two that deserves to be seen for both her super and human parts) was necessary for her before she could ever take the next step with Lena.

And now they can both love each and every part of one another fully.

hiii no. 1 kon expert. would you say you reccomend superboy 2010? i never see ppl talk abt it, its tshirt kon and idk the writer so ive always been hesitant, but youve referenced it a few times so im curious of your opinion on it

helloo! yes i would absolutely rec it, more highly than i'd rec adventure comics '09 if i'm being honest (though both feature an overlapping cast, so like, both ARE good to read and ac09 definitely has its highlights, dont get me wrong!). jeff lemire's superboy run is pretty much the only kon story post-geoff that actually develops his character as his character and not just an accessory to lex luthor.

it goes through some drama in smallville and develops his friendships with simon, lori, and sajan, and also ma and krypto are there!! plus there's some rly good bits for kon & bart and kon & tim in there too. and i like lemire's take on a more thoughtful, introspective kon post-resurrection. it's a solid series overall, and imo the best one in the t-shirt kon era!
