I find it so funny when ppl say that Katniss has no personality, she's so cute and funny! Like do you not remember when she...

1. Thought Finnick was making out with Peetas corpse and was like "damn didn't know he was fruity like that"

2. When Gale confessed his love for her and she was STRIAGHT up like "yeah I know" 💀

3. Saw Peeta had been crying after the first reaping and immediately thinks "damn he's good, playing the weak sympathy card". Like girl he thinks he's gonna die! He's gonna die!

4. Katniss and Finnick wearing the green face cream in CF and scaring the fuck outta Peeta on the beach

5. Just her and Haymitch, especially the first book

7. In MJ when they're trying to film the propos, and she's just horrible at it

8. In the first book when she's trying to drain the pus out of Peetas leg and she just so goddmaned grossed out

10. In MJ when Gale and Peeta are talking about Katniss choosing one of them, she's just like "gonna leave you two bums here, don't need this shit"

11. Everytime she was unaware of people flirting with her or just being nice. She always think there's some hidden motive... like girl they're your family and friends, they just like you as a person

12. "Nobody needs me" "I do, I need you". Katniss finally admitting her love for Peeta and realises that she can't live without him!! It's such an important part of her growth towards Peeta and no one talks about it!! The girl how has survived everything finally needs not just something, but SOMEONE. And it's HIM (I'm so normal about this I swear)

13. Sassying buttercup at every turn

14. She has the same vibe as goop from Meet The Robinsons (especially with Madge). "Hey Katniss, wanna eat lunch together?" "Hey Katniss, wanna go for a walk into town later"

Usually when I think about Katniss and Gale I think about how they’ve essentially had the same lives but came out with completely different mentality’s and morals. But that’s not true.

They do have completely different morals and views, but they haven’t had the same live.

They both grew up in the seam, they both lost their fathers in the same mining accident and were forced to become the main providers for their families at a young age, But where Gale had lost his father he still had his mother, Katniss essentially lost both and had to take over both roles when her father died. So after she spent all her free time hunting, gathering and trading she had to go back home and take care of her little sister and her mother. But when Gale was done hunting, gathering and trading, he didn’t have to stay home and take care of his siblings, he was still able to have a social life outside of hunting with Katniss. A luxury katniss truly could never afford.

Gale was also 13 or 14 when his father died so he was able to take out tesserae so we can assume he wasn’t ever in as dire circumstance as katniss was (starving to death out in the rain trying to sell old baby clothes no one would to buy), still traumatic and horrible but not the same.

So I can’t help but wonder if this is contributed to them having such different views and morals. Katniss didn’t have the time to let her anger fester, to sit and dwell on it the way Gale did.

Peeta Mellark observations/hc's BC it won the poll and I'm watching it with my dad

Observations

1. When he's name was called out in the reaping and bros FLABBERGASTED. Even he's looking around for Peeta Mellark

2. When he's painting his arm during the camouflage section before the first games and Katniss comes over to say hi, and he's just looking at her like 🥹🥺👀🥰 like Pookie bear.... You're looking at her like she's your salvation. Just the look he got in his eyes when he knew he had her attention!!! It's such a small thing but please go back and look at it, words cannot describe the longing and love he has for her

3. When he found out he got a 8 in the training session and practically did a victory lap, reminds me of that meme of the guy winning the bronze medal.

4. THE CONVO BY THE WINDOWSILL. Personally it felt like the first time they had an actual connection. Peeta talking about how he doesn't want the games to change him was a straight punch to the gut. Both of them remembering their humanity and having this deep chat solidified to me that Katniss had a thing for him. Her internal monologue struggling to demonise him in order to make killing him easier.

5. Him shaking his head at her telling her not run STRIAGHT into the cornucopia. He just wants to keep her safe. Bonus point to Katniss believing that this is Peetas 4D chess plan to distract and kill her.

6. The fucking full body camouflage while actively bleeding out 😭 so that's just so funny to me. Like yes king rub that swamp dirt into an open wound ! That'll definitely help!

it lowkey pisses me off when people say Snow hates Katniss just because she reminds him of Lucy Gray

cause like.. no. he hates her because everything she does is a painful reminder that he had a choice.

when she pulled out those berries, he hated that she would rather die with Peeta than leave him behind for a life of glory and wealth.

whilst he was prepared to kill Lucy Gray for the same result.

when she volunteered in her sisters place at the reaping, he hated that she would rather die than leave her sister behind.

because he’d never do the same for Tigris, even though he arguably “owed” Tigris more than Katniss did Primrose.

when she stepped in to stop commander Thread during Gale’s whipping, he hated that she would rather put herself in the crossfire than let him die.

because he had every opportunity to, but he would never do the same for Sejanus. instead he sent him to his grave.

throughout the entire book Snow keeps choosing money and power over love, and throughout the entire book he tries to gaslight himself into thinking he didn’t have a choice.

Katniss’s actions to some extent forced him to confront his own choices. they forced him to realise that if he hadn’t acted the way he did, he could’ve still had the people he loved by his side.

then there’s the obvious thing with her you know, making the gamemakers and the regime look stupid and well, becoming the unwilling symbol of a rebellion but shh

There's something so special about the fact that Katniss uses the word 'hunger' to describe her desire for Peeta. She could've said passion, desire, wanting but no she used hunger.

Katniss' prime motivator throughout life has always been food, she's spent hours foraging through the woods to uphold herself and her family members. Her thoughts have always been food concentric and you can see her obsessing in the first book, going into excruciating detail even when unnecessary.

A thick carrot soup, green salad, lamb chops and mashed potatoes, cheese and fruit, a chocolate cake.

That I’m being upstaged by a dead pig. My heart starts to pound, I can feel my face burning. Without thinking, I pull an arrow from my quiver and send it straight at the Gamemakers’ table. I hear shouts of alarm as people stumble back. The arrow skewers the apple in the pig’s mouth and pins it to the wall behind it.

I always find this paragraph so interesting, that out of everything Collins could've chosen to upstage Katniss, she chose food as her competition.

Even in the games Haymitch has to bribe Katniss with food to stimulate her romance. That being said food/hunger is a heavy recurring theme in the books and Katniss has always been drawn by hunger on instinct.

So kissing Peeta for her is instinct, it it something that pulls at her. Something she cannot live with out, because without it she shall starve.

I think this also goes back to her first interaction with Peeta which is again associated with food ( burnt bread), I find this scene a literal parallel to her 'starving' without him to the beach scene.

I grabbed a bucket and Prim’s hand and headed to the Meadow and yes, it was dotted with the golden-headed weeds. That night, we gorged ourselves on dandelion salad and the rest of the bakery bread.

This scene as well, one of her most important interactions with him is again associated with food/hunger.

So really the word hunger is the perfect fit for what she feels for Peeta, Food brings her hope and happiness, it is a literal and physical metaphorical motivator to keep going. And only Peeta can give her that.

Why does no one talk about the fact that Gale shoved Katniss when they were at the lake house talking about running away in cf??? When they were arguing and yelling at each other he (roughly Katniss says) shoves her away from him. Like, am I being over dramatic or is that kinda crazy? Gale was really so mean in that scene, not just that he shoved her but just in general he was really mean. I feel like people forget it or don’t realize it cuz so much stuff happens right after it with the whipping scene, but he was really nasty to her. He made her feel so bad, and for what?? Like she didn’t deserve that at all. I just wanna give Katniss a hug after that. You know maybe I’m reading into to this a little too much but I really don’t like he put his hands on her when they were fighting, I feel like that’s so crazy. I feel like I’m crazy for bringing this up because I haven’t seen anyone else talk about this. Idk the fact that he physically shoved when they were fighting just doesn’t sit right with me.
