it lowkey pisses me off when people say Snow hates Katniss just because she reminds him of Lucy Gray

cause like.. no. he hates her because everything she does is a painful reminder that he had a choice.

when she pulled out those berries, he hated that she would rather die with Peeta than leave him behind for a life of glory and wealth.

whilst he was prepared to kill Lucy Gray for the same result.

when she volunteered in her sisters place at the reaping, he hated that she would rather die than leave her sister behind.

because he’d never do the same for Tigris, even though he arguably “owed” Tigris more than Katniss did Primrose.

when she stepped in to stop commander Thread during Gale’s whipping, he hated that she would rather put herself in the crossfire than let him die.

because he had every opportunity to, but he would never do the same for Sejanus. instead he sent him to his grave.

throughout the entire book Snow keeps choosing money and power over love, and throughout the entire book he tries to gaslight himself into thinking he didn’t have a choice.

Katniss’s actions to some extent forced him to confront his own choices. they forced him to realise that if he hadn’t acted the way he did, he could’ve still had the people he loved by his side.

then there’s the obvious thing with her you know, making the gamemakers and the regime look stupid and well, becoming the unwilling symbol of a rebellion but shh

Am i the only one who would like to see katniss forgive gale, like years after the war ends gale coming back to 12 and they both actually talk about it, and grieve her loss together.

He was probably still in the shell shock of killing someone he thought of as his little sister when they first talked, and i desperately want katniss to realize that it wasnt his fault, that they were both kids being used in a war and that gale is also haunted by prims death when ever he sees himself in the mirror.

Loads of people argue that Gale was not the cause of Prims death because he didn’t send the bombs. But it’s not the fact of who set them off, I mean Katniss dealt with that, it’s who created them and why they were created. Gale came up with this trap as a play on a hunting tactic he used to stay alive, and was using it to mass kill. He said to Katniss how in his eyes killing isn’t always personal, which was her first hint on the fact that deep down he didn’t care what happened or who died as long as he got his way in the end. I believe that the main reason he cared about Prims death was not because she was so young, not because he knew her, but because he knew he lost any chance with Katniss that he had left.

Getting baldur's gate 3 and being knees deep in a hunger games obsession colided perfectly for me to see the parallels between Gale Hawthorne and Gale Dekarios.

If i had a nickel for every man named Gale fighting alongside a charismatic group of heroes yet still being hated by the fandom more than actual villains in their stories for the heighnous crime of being an annoying little shit apeared in a media i have been obsessed with in the span of the last month...I'd have 2 nickels which is not a lot but it's weird that it happened twice, right?

When you first read or watch Mockingjay, did you know or predict that Primrose was gonna die?

Who do you think were responsible for her death? Why?

I had a vague feeling when I first read them. I was just starting to really analyze stories then, starting to see patterns, learning about being doomed by the narrative. That being said once I got there, I was still shocked, still expecting Prim to survive. That maybe it wasn’t real.

I remember thinking at the time that it felt like she did it all for nothing. But now that I’m older I think it just means Katniss shouldn’t have had to keep her safe. That ultimately it was never her responsibility. It was her mother’s. (I hate Mrs. Everdeen with a burning passion). Arguing whether the ends justified the means feels pointless. It happened. If the bomb wasn’t dropped the war could’ve gone on longer. Or shorter. What happened is several kids died. What happened is a girl who had to grow up too fast lost her sister, and basically her whole family. And the war ended. The Hunger Games ended.

I hold several people responsible for her death. Coin for putting her there. Mrs. Everdeen for signing off on her being a medic. Gale and Beetee for targeting medics with their bomb(a literal whole ass war crime, against the Geneva Convention.)

ok so i am just now reading the shadow and bone series (i've already read six of crows/crooked kingdom and love the show) and i am currently working through siege and storm and can someone tell me if i am totally of base here but mal is giving me strong prim reaper vibes. like, he has extremely unrealistic expectations of him and alina, he resents her for being grisha, is jealous 24/7 and expects her to choose running away with him and leave an entire nation to die. he also really doesn't care about her ptsd and expects her to run after him everytime he gets jealous or offended and sulks for a week. like, dude is living a kvas-fueled delusion. is it just me? also i'm hoping for alina and my sanity's sake that he knocks that chip off his shoulder about being a commoner and non-grisha and just gets on with it. ok, thank you for coming to my ted talk :)
