When your absolutely amazing talented friend writes a Zombie Apocalypse Fic and adds ya into the mix, what else would you do but provide your POV?

It was a regular day; I had signed onto work and was busy typing away. Checking my discord from time to time to see the updates from Rah at the meet-and-greet VIP event that they had been able to get tickets for. I wanted to go to the meet-and-greet and the concert that night but unfortunately, I had already had my vacation planned beforehand. It all went to hell in a handbasket and then put through the shredder. Not that any of that matters now.

It’s been a week now since the world was turned upside down. We always made jokes about the zombie apocalypse and what we would all do. But no one could have predicted that we actually end up living through it. Being up in Alaska was a blessing and curse. We were lucky enough to be far enough west of where the NEO had hit in Canada, also far enough east to not have to deal with the crazy storms going on down in the lower 48. We were still dealing with snow since Break up season wasn’t due to happen for a few weeks. The temps were in the teens, so things were starting to thaw.

The first five days were the hardest. It was just Nick, me, and our youngest kiddo Gabriel. Without knowing what was going on, all we could do was stockpile the house with supplies and equipment. We had our greenhouse, our 3 extra generators and enough preserved food to last a long while. Nick and Gabriel had made a few trips around to pick up extra stuff.

Being one of the youngest couples living in the estates, we had many elderly neighbors. We started checking on everybody. At first everyone was okay, scared but okay. They had also been prepared for the worst because we never knew if we would be snowed in and possibly stranded.

After the first 24 hours, we witnessed a couple of neighbors had started to have seizures and then started dying. We had originally wanted to bury them, but the permafrost made this very difficult. Instead, we had started putting the bodies we found into one of the storage containers that a neighbor who passed had on their property.

Something was killing off our neighbors and we couldn’t figure out what, so we assumed it must be some type of virus. After six of our neighbors had died, we were concerned. We made sure to use precautions when moving the bodies. Nick had been able to get onto post and had grabbed what he could, including a few hazmat suits. When yet another neighbor had died, we went to put them in the storage container along with the others but found the storage container empty.

“What the fuck babe? Where are bodies??” I asked Nick panicked.

“I have no clue; they were here last night before we went home…” Nick says.

“That is so creepy… Maybe we should lock the container tonight?” I ask.

“Yeah, we can lock it tonight and see what happens tomorrow. Let’s do another round in the neighborhood and see if everyone is okay.” Nick suggests.

“Alrighty” I reply.

We moved the body into the storage container and locked it. After another round of checks, we found nine more bodies. About 90% of our neighbors had died within the first two days. We used one of the neighbors’ trucks to transport all the bodies to the storage container. Once we had unloaded all the bodies, we locked the storage container up. We also drove the truck to the middle of a field, but still within walking distance and set it on fire. We then took off the hazmat suits we were wearing and started our decontamination protocals.

On Day three, we had done another round of checks in the neighborhood. Our last remaining neighbors had left a note at their house saying they were heading south to go find their daughter who was in college down in Anchorage. It was officially only the three of us left in the neighborhood. We then went and checked on the storage container, finding the door had been wedged open somehow and all the bodies were missing.

“Um… yeah this is getting a bit too weird babe,” I say to Nick.

Nick steps a little closer, making sure not to touch anything in case it was biological. He looks around and then suddenly stops. “Babe, we need to go back to the house now.” He grabs my hand, and we start running towards our house, not stopping until we get inside.

“What was that about?” I ask.

“The door was wedged open… from the inside of the storage container.” He says.

“Huh? How? They were dead! No one else was in those containers. You don’t think we may have mistaken someone’s death?” I ask worryingly.

“No, they were all dead. Whatever it is, lets just stay inside unless we absolutely need to leave.” He suggests.

Day Four was the quietest day. Without actual data or Wi-Fi, we had no way to check on anything. I had a slight cold, so I spent the day sleeping.

We finally got cell service and internet back on Day Five. I immediately checked on the two older kids who were down in Anchorage. Both were fine and said they were hunkered down. They insisted they were safe, but I made them promise to head north if they had any sort of trouble. I then sent messages to all my friends and extended family.

While waiting for everyone to check in, I started trying to check for news. TikTok was a buzz about the NEO, the Zombie Apocalypse, and the evolution of Zombies. We seemed to have been lucky because the Zombies didn’t seem too interested in Alaska currently.

I was only able to really get into contact with a few friends on Discord.

Rah let me know that a bunch of our friends had met up with them and that they were safe. Then they dropped the bombshell that they were also with the Stray Kids. I about died. We kept each other up to date with the stuff going on in both areas.

Rah: KCON goers are trapped in LA. The storms are going to decimate the coasts, we need to get to the north of Anchorage. You got room up there?

Me: Yeah, unfortunately we’re kind of isolated up here. A lot of the old people died. They left a long time ago, though.

Rah: Left?

Me: Bodies just kind of vanished. No Walkers, no Runners, no Crawlers, no Flyers.

Rah: I... Okay. We’ll have to revisit that later.

I turn to look at Nick, "Looks like we may need to start getting these houses cleared out and prepared for guests…"

Author's Note: Hey! I wrote this story back in 2016 on some fanfic websites and am bringing it back as I edit the chapters. I wanted to put my perspective and imagination on what if BTS had a black girl in their group from America. This'll be a long story starting from their debut so enjoy the ride!

I have so many chapters already written. I had stopped in the story around late 2016 before the MAMA Awards. As I wrote this story over the years I wanted this character to be relatable and grow as a performer as well as go through hardships. It'll be a slow start but it will get better as the chapters go on, I hope you give it a chance.

Wooyoung's Chaperone

Wooyoung's ankle injury requires him to make an early return from tour. You are the staff member given the difficult task of wrangling the impulsive idol.

The assignment had been pitched to you as something so simple any low-level KQ staffer could do it. In fact, that was why the task had been given to you. While not a manager yet, your training had been successful so far, and the reason you ended up being picked for the unusual job of escorting a member of ATEEZ home to South Korea from Japan. The perk of one-on-one time with an idol might have sounded like an honor so early in your career, but the reality would be far different if the copious warnings to brace yourself were anything to go by.

When Wooyoung twisted his ankle on tour, he had first tried to work through the pain. Hongjoong noted his friend was not giving his best performance and pulled him aside during a break to get an answer. After hearing the reason, Hongjoong ruled, “You need to sit the rest of the concert out.” Sensing Wooyoung's objection, he added, “This is not about how dedicated or strong you are. I've seen the way you practice until exhaustion. You need to heal, and while injured you pose a risk to the rest of the team if you fall on any of us while trying to keep up.”

'For the good of ATEEZ' was an answer Wooyoung would accept. Loath to disappoint ATINY, he bargained to remain on stage as long as he was seated. The leader accepted that accommodation and Wooyoung's voice was present while the usual B.B Trippin dance crew member who rehearsed Wooyoung's choreography in the development stage seamlessly filled in as understudy.

Unable to stick to the deal, Wooyoung was soon spotted far too active and being carried piggyback by Yunho to get closer to the fans during the finale. Hongjoong caught Wooyoung's grimace when the injured man was finally let down, so Hongjoong slowly walked a limping Wooyoung off stage at the concert's end with some caring but stern words for the misbehaving member.

After being checked out by a doctor it was concluded Wooyoung needed to be off duties completely for the best chance at a full recovery from what was determined to be a sprain. Heartbroken to miss KCON Japan, Wooyoung was already feeling down. To be shipped back to the dorm before his members made him inconsolable.

With a reputation as a lovable rogue, even in his subdued state Wooyoung was still considered a somewhat difficult charge. It was not through malice, and his heart was always in the right place, but things always seemed to get out of hand around him. Each of the senior managers in turn passed the chaperone task on to a staffer of lower seniority. This is how the assignment finally landed in your lap. Your first international travel was now cut short, but the perceived prestige of the new job being temporarily responsible for Wooyoung made up for leaving Japan earlier than expected.

Showing up at his hotel room bright and early the next day, you were met at the door by a frustrated Hongjoong. “I hope that wheelchair you brought has a lockable seat belt. The way my roommate keeps hopping up for one more thing when he is supposed to let me do all the packing for him, I'd glue Wooyoung to the chair if I could.”

An innocent looking Wooyoung reclined on the bed nearest the door with the injured foot propped up on some pillows, wrapped in an elastic compression bandage and under a flexible ice pack. Glancing up from his charging phone, he tiredly gave a small wave in greeting.

Surely Wooyoung was not as much trouble as Hongjoong implied. As a recent hire, your duties for KQ had not included much contact with the idols themselves yet so their off-camera personalities were mostly unfamiliar. The managers you worked with were professional and tended not to complain, though occasional groaning about Wooyoung had been overheard from time to time. Perhaps they had exaggerated, for the man before you seemed nothing but sweet despite his saddened condition.

After introducing yourself, you got straight to business. “The sedan will be here soon to take us to the airport. Do you have all your things?”

“Just one more to go.” Wooyoung swung his legs off the bed to walk the half step to the wall socket.

“Freeze.”

Before he could put weight on his feet, Wooyoung stopped in his tracks. Hongjoong's eyes widened at your commanding tone, and he nodded in approval.

Moving to unplug the phone's cord yourself, you handed it to Wooyoung who stashed it in his bag on the bed. Unsure if it was the right tack to take with your charge, you rolled up your trouser leg, revealing a black plastic brace around the calf which was held in place with two Velcro straps over the shin.

Looking at you curiously, Wooyoung joked, “Are you going to kick my ass with your robot leg if I don't behave?”

Hongjoong snorted.

The temptation to say 'yes' was strong, but you resisted, remaining serious instead. “I used to turn my ankle all the time as a child. After so much damage I now have a pinched nerve that requires my foot to be stabilized to keep the pain away. You keep clowning around like that risking reinjury and you might need a Richie brace too.” Realizing you made your orthotic sound like a punishment, you amended, “I love my brace for the mobility it returned to me, but my own dancing career was sidelined and I don't want the same to happen to you. I have been told you are going to need to baby that foot for four to six weeks as it is. Don't let it get worse.”

Wooyoung looked cowed, making you wonder of you had gone too far, but then he grinned a moment later. “I like it when you are firm with me. Everybody else outside the members seems a little intimidated by my idol status and ends up being lenient. No wonder you got this job of babysitting me.”

This time Hongjoong's laugh was far stronger.

Your unexpected skill was far from the reason you had gotten stuck with Wooyoung, but you weren't about to lose face when he was considering behaving, so you let the comment pass without correction.

“I see you are in good hands,” Hongjoong noted. Looking to you he pled, “Please take care of Wooyoung and see him home safe.” He then turned attention again to his member. “We will follow you in a few days. It will go fast. Be good.”

Wooyoung reached from his seated position on the edge of the bed for a hug before departure, but Hongjoong deftly stepped back with the reflexes of both a dancer and someone with a lifetime of avoiding most physical touch. Seeing Wooyoung's face fall, Hongjoong relented and gave a partial embrace. You suspected it would have been warmer without your presence, so you busied yourself wheeling the suitcase to the door and getting Wooyoung's shoes from the entry.

Your own medical history had well prepared you for the role of temporary caregiver. Transfer from bed to wheelchair as lightly on the bad ankle as possible was something you had mastered long ago from the patient side of things, so it was an easy matter to reverse roles this time. After gently placing Wooyoung's shoes on him, you explained how you were going to move your patient with a minimum of stress to his injury. With the newly purchased manual wheelchair now opened and locked in place alongside the bed with footrests swung aside, you asked for permission to touch Wooyoung.

He looked at you with wonder. “I'm so used to staff just touching me for wardrobe and makeup that what you have described won't be a problem. Thank you for asking though. Not everybody would think of my boundaries like that and I appreciate it. I should do the same for you. Are you okay with my hands on your shoulders like you described for the transfer?”

It was now your turn to be awed as you nodded consent. With fans cheering their every move, it would have been easy to become self-centered as an idol. Instead, the two men today had been very thoughtful and humble. Hongjoong had responded immediately to your earlier request to get a belt from Wooyoung's suitcase to make transfer easier. Actually, it had been more of an assignment to the leader of ATEEZ since your attention was solely focused on Wooyoung's needs. Hongjoong had kindly accepted your apology as soon as you realized the mistake.

On the count of three, you gripped the belt and smoothly helped pivot Wooyoung on his good foot to the chair while he held your shoulders for stability. Being so closely face to face with a star like this was unexpected. You had seen Wooyoung's charms in performance videos. In person his charisma was even more impressive. But, that was not why you were here, and it was distracting. In different circumstances you might have welcomed his approach, but not on the job. Still forming the words to ask Wooyoung to tone it down, Hongjoong noticed your quandary and stepped in.

“Your chaperone is working. Can it with the flirty looks.”

Chastened, Wooyoung explained he had unintentionally been in fanservice mode. Taking Hongjoong's advice to heart, he even checked his shirt buttons and secured the last one over his chest. “Sorry, it is a habit,” he admitted.

“I'm taking care of you because it is my job. You don't need to be pleasant to earn it. In fact, it would not surprise me if you feel grumpy or down because of the pain and that is okay.”

Reminded of his need for medication, Wooyoung set an alarm for the next scheduled dose then returned the phone to his pocket. “All set,” he announced. As Hongjoong held the hotel room door open, Wooyoung was given the task of maneuvering the rolling luggage by the handle while you pushed him in the wheelchair. His light bag for the short flight was placed in his lap and your gym bag, the totality of your own luggage for the trip, was already in the transport KQ had rented for the tour.

Hongjoong joined you in the elevator for a final goodbye before heading to the day's activities for the remaining members. Working well as a team already, you successfully transferred Wooyoung and his suitcase into the vehicle then collapsed the wheelchair and placed it in the back. Hopping in, Wooyoung patted the seat at his side and you relented, even though you would be alongside him for the duration of the flight soon enough. With a skill for storytelling, he was soon revealed to be a good travel companion.

“You know, as a trainee before my first international flight the others teased me about what the plane would be like.”

Laughing at the antics of his teammates Seonghwa, Jongho, and his specially noted friend of many years Yeosang made the ride to the airport pass quickly despite thick traffic. Hefting the wheelchair out again, for a moment you wondered if there had been a more convenient way to get Wooyoung off the injured ankle. Back at the dorm he would begin using crutches, perhaps Jongho's on loan until he was fitted for his own, but to make travel less tiring he had agreed to the wheelchair for now.

Once the luggage was checked you made it through the arduous security process for wheelchair users. Wooyoung's jokes and pleasant demeanor kept your own spirits up through preboarding for people with disabilities and their attendants. He appreciated you dealing with the hassle of insisting the wheelchair be stored in the plane's cupboard for that purpose rather than risking damage in the cargo hold.

Now settled, you both pulled out anything needed in flight then stowed bags under the seat. There was a moment of silence before Wooyoung launched into chattiness. He did have a lot to say. Any lull in conversation was filled by facts about ATEEZ and anything else that caught his interest in the moment.

“Did you know Jongho's left ear is higher than the other? He is left-handed too, but I don't think that is related. And Mingi has a mole below his eye but it is only makeup to be like me. Mine is real though. Try and rub it off, you'll see!”

“No, thank you.” You shook your head, dazed by the steady patter. Now that you were getting used to it, it was pleasant though. The constancy of his attractive voice was like gentle rain punctuated by harsher thunder of surprisingly high-pitched cackles that caused other passengers to turn heads.

By the time the plane began a descent toward Seoul, you realized all the warnings about Wooyoung had been for nothing because the two of you got along so well. It turned out your charge was not a troublemaker so much as a nonstop talker. Perhaps Wooyoung's instantly friendly approach might have been off-putting to some of the other employees, but you had not minded his style at all. The conversation had been reciprocal too. Wooyoung had listened attentively in turn, and by the end of your flight you recognized a feeling of warm friendship toward the idol.

Luggage claim went smoothly, but the trip to his dorm was another introduction to disabled life. With ATEEZ scheduled to be in Japan for another week the driving staff was either with the tour or had the time off. Wooyoung fumed when the first rideshare passed you up with a dirty look once they saw his wheelchair. You couldn't help but agree with Wooyoung that the frustrations of dealing with a health problem are compounded by unnecessary grief from other people. Luckily, another person came along soon enough.

Two people, luggage, and a wheelchair were confidently loaded into the vehicle by the able driver. Garrulous as ever despite the wear of travel, Wooyoung had made yet another friend by the time his dorm's building was in sight. With one final transfer to the wheelchair from the car, Wooyoung was back home.

Once you settled him on the couch you checked in with your boss. “Mission accomplished. Is there an aide coming? I don't want to leave Wooyoung alone when he needs to stay off that foot.”

“One should have been there by now. Let me check my messages. Okay, looks like I have some good news and some bad news.”

Having very quickly figured out the bad news, you first decided hear the part you didn't know.

“You are promoted to manager now due to this assignment. You've had a trial by fire and come through with flying colors, and the approval of Wooyoung too by the sound of his glowing texts to San that were passed along.”

You resigned yourself to confirmation of what you already suspected. “And the bad news?”

“Looks like the caregiver booking fell through due to nobody currently available at the agency we usually use. Congratulations, you are assigned Wooyoung full-time for the week until the rest of us get back.”

Overhearing the speakerphone conversation, Wooyoung whooped and let out an effusive, “Bestie!”

You put your gym bag down on the coffee table. Clothes packed for the trip would do just as well for working in the dorm. “I guess I am home now too then.”

The situation actually wasn't so bad. Schedule already cleared while expecting to be in Japan, you had nothing planned outside work. The recently purchased couch of the new dorm looked comfortable enough for keeping yourself available round the clock until other staff returned. It turned out not to be needed, though. Hongjoong offered his own bed one room down the hall once he heard about the situation from Wooyoung. It had taken some convincing on Hongjoong's part, but being better rested to serve Wooyoung was a compelling argument.

Not one to brag, you wouldn't be revealing to anyone you had slept in Hongjoong's bed, as innocent as it was with him still in Japan. At any rate, it was a far better offer than sharing with Wooyoung as he so kindly suggested. You would do a lot for your job, but you wouldn't go that far. Okay, actually let me go back to bad boy Hwa for a second 😌 becauseeeeee I accidentally stumbled upon an old fic about him on AO3. Reader insert fics aren't very common there, but this one kinda looked familiar. I've realised it was the first Hwa fanfic I've ever read, one of my friends was very into it and we read it together on a plane back in 2019. My memory of it has completely faded away, so I was more than happy to re-read it and I still quite like it. It's called Sleazy Seonghwa Who Sneezes by chasingatinydream - the title is killing me, ajshauskahshsha. Also San is so cute, funny and chaotic there, bestie goals. I wish it was a bit longer and more fleshed out in some ways, but still it was pretty sweet story. note- i tried to make this realistic as possible ie idol! Haechan speaks Korean and notices you in a crowd of nctzens 

It’s the morning of the MTV interview with none other than your favourite group NCT 127. When you heard that 127 was coming to KCON Toronto you knew that meant local shows and interviews and immediately started tracking down contests and tickets to be an audience member anywhere you could. You eventually snatched only a single ticket to the MTV interview you’ve seen countless other idol groups do but never NCT. You didn’t mind being alone, anything for your bias Haechan. It was warm spring day so you wore the typical nctzen uniform: camo print tank top, black ripped jeans with fishnets and moss green army boots.

11:28am

 You arrive to line up for your general admission ticket noticing the line consists of so few people you confused it for the nearby washroom. Luckily on a Tuesday May morning, high school students were still in school and you had less competition getting in as early as possible. Staff appreciated the eagerness of the less than 5 people and allowed you to enter to which you all excitedly ran in and hugged the gate between the stage and seats for the following 3 and a half hours.

3:00pm

The room had become packed with fangirls holding neon green signs proclaiming their love towards members and a common excitement that can be felt throughout the room which exploded when the host announced “I’d like to welcome our guest…NCT 127”

The room filled with cheers but you were silent and your eyes simply glued to the sides of the superhuman themed backdrop you were sure they’d appear from behind. One by one the members appeared and the screams grew with each consecutive member. Lastly Haechan walked out bowing towards the host then the audience and back towards the host. He wore ripped black jeans, and a navy buttondown dress shirt.

You spent the next consecutive 15mins of the interview completely zoned out admiring how handsome Haechan looked with silver hair and perfect petal lips that looked soft enough to sleep on when you heard in the background…

 “When I was doing my research, I kept coming up on the word bias-?!” Instinctively you yell “HAECHAN” over the sea of girlish screams for taeyong and mark you thought “well that was embarrassing but no one noticed- so I’m okay”. You looked up to see someone did notice- no one else but your bias himself. He looked at you with doughy eyes and a tiny shy but proud smile. Haechans eyes only met yours for a second and quickly shot to his watch which he busied he hands fiddling with. Mark leaned over to tap haechan with his shoulder deeply amused by the fangirls screaming out for the different members. Haechan too preoccupied to give Mark the acknowledgment he was looking for- triggered Mark to follow Haechans indecisive gaze only to find you. A smart smile spread across Mark’s face as he instantly started giggling and whispering to Haechan. They both laughed softly until haechan playfully hits Mark…“Hajima- HaJiMA”

The interview returns to relative order and so do the members, but not before stealing one more glance. You turn eagerly wanting to tap your friends about the exchange only to remember that you came here alone. So you turn back. You’re left to watch him and rekindle your thoughts. They couldn’t have been talking about you- they’re idols! Don’t get attached- if anything it was just fanservice. Busy in your thoughts you only now noticed the host was talking to fans, walking back to his seat he stops at you-

 “And How about you?”

“Me? …how- I’m… pardon sorry what was the question?”

Embarrassed you hear the crowd giggle but see a supportive smile from Donghyuck.

“A Bias? Do you have one?”

“Oh, Haechan!”

“haechannnn oppppaaaa” the high pitch screams respond to your remark. You resist the urge to roll your eyes, knowing that if it wasn’t them screaming it’d almost certainly be you.

“actually no, I’m a Noona, I’m Mark’s age”

From the corner of your eye you see Mark and Haechan spin their rotating bar stools to face each other with eyebrows raised as if they were communicating telepathically to say “oh, she’s older” nodding their heads in time with each other. “Cute” you thought. 

“So what makes Ha-e-Chan your bias?”

 You didn’t know what annoyed you more, the mispronunciation of his own interviewees names or being older than most of the audience.

“Uh- HAEchan- well”

You looked over and the honey skinned boy- to remind yourself of everything makes him your bias, “Well Donghyuck”, you started speaking to him, in your imaginary scenario it was a chance to tell him why he meant the world to you. “Well he seems like this sweet cuddly soft guy, until he’s on stage, and then he’s a fierce vocal with so much power and passion and…”. The fact that he couldn’t understand made it so much easier for you to express how you feel and then- you blinked and remind yourself- although he may not understand you- there was a studio full of people that did, so quickly you added “…idk he’s beautiful I like him”. Nailed it.

“ Okay…well… Great, ok thank you for contributing everyone!”

The host skipped back up the stairs to the stage and continued with the interview.

 This time you could feel it, his stare was so attentive. You felt it through every nerve in your body. You couldn’t blink, afraid you’d open your eyes and his were no longer locked with yours.

You were lucky, he broke his stare but looked over to check on you throughout the interview- always catching you shamelessly beaming in his direction.

“Ok and that’s a wrap!”

The audience clapped and quickly turned to rush out. 5 O’clock traffic on the TTC (Toronto’s subway) is seriously nothing to joke about. You weren’t in any rush. You watched the members shake hands with the host and exchange thank you’s. And just how the came, they left. In line they walked backstage. That was it, your 5 min romance was over. It was nice while it lasted but you stayed to reminiscence.

Half an hour past and the rest of the crowd had left, there was no point in leaving yet, with the traffic you wouldn’t be home for hours anyway. May as well sit here and stare at his seat, it’s not like you’ll ever see him again.

It was like everyone else was moving at 3x speed and you were in slow motion, dreading to leave you knew you would eventually have too. Staff began clean-up and kindly taking all gates down except the one you still leaned against daydreaming.

“Um, I’m going to have to take this…are you ok?” the staff member asked.

“Sorry of course! Ya! I’m great” you said jumping back startled.

You turned to leave.

“HEY, HEY wai-waiiittwaitwait”

The remark didn’t catch you off-guard, I mean it could really be anyone, until you felt a hand on your shoulder. Were you in trouble? “I should’ve known I wouldn’t be allowed to stay so long.” you thought dreadingly as you turning around.  

“You’re still here!” you turned to face the one and only Mark Lee.

“Oh my God! Hi! I’m sorry I was just leaving, I love your music!”

“Just leaving! Well thank God I remembered I left my hat when I did.” Mark gestured to his bar stool seat- the only one with a perfectly placed black baseball cap on it.

“Hey- since you’re here, do you wanna meet my friend?” Mark offered already walking with you toward the superhuman backdrop and presumed door to backstage.

 “ You see, as soon as we turned the corner backstage he begged me to translate what you said, the fact that you’re still here- that’s gotta be a sign, it’ll be fun don’t worry” by the time he reached the end of the sentence we were at the door to backstage.

“Could I really be meeting Haechan right now? This is a joke there’s no way, omg, omg ok” you thought so hard you were afraid somehow Mark may have heard you. Thankfully you responded with an eager but cool…

“Yea! I’d love too!”

You entire a dimly lit room crowded with 9 boys + staff with tables of snacks and chips. The glow from the TV screen playing back the interview reflected off the boys faces. Feeling nervous you look back at Mark who is already doing his signature “Ay-yo Ay-yo” greeting to the other members. Everyone’s eyes shift to you and like clockwork 9 sets of eyes move to Haechan. He was sitting between Taeil and a spot you presumed was Mark’s before he got up for his hat. Mid chicken wing Haechan feels the stares and scans the room until he sees you.He stood -chicken wing in hand- and looked at you and immediately back to himself as if wondering why he stood up in the first place. “Annyeoung” he says shyly bowing slightly trying to avoid unnecessary chicken wing drips.The boys instantly returned to the chaos and chatter occurring beforehand and Mark jestures for you to take the empty seat.

Oneus Twilight full comeback review

When I say full comeback review it’s because it’s a FULL comeback review. From the concept films to the Japanese verison, were gonna cover a lot so get a cup of something to drink cause this will be hella long aka Bible (I’m a nice person I’m telling you this beforehand).(You should do a Youtube video review then… nya… BORING)

So let’s begin. This is not the first time I follow a group comeback in real time… You know… Checking everyday the performances, so I kinda know how it works. We have gone through a lot of stuff… KARD You in Me, GFriend Fingertip, Red Velvet Peak a Boo, Dreamcacther as whole, BTS Fake Love, F(x) Dracula, BTS Wings album as a whole and last but far from least BTS Blood Sweat and Tears. I wouldn’t call some of them dark concept, I also wouldn’t call some of the sexy concept. By these examples you can see I have my standards pretty high. I’m that annoying perfectionist old uncle and declare myself guilty. For years Blood Sweat and Tears was the top song for me. (I’m a sane person ok… That doesn’t mean I listen to it 24/7). The MV had very beautiful aesthetics and I liked the lyrics and the song. Clothes were cool and the coreography too. F(x) Dracula would come in second and I never thought something could also join these two. Until… It happened. I knew RBW was releasing a new group but I just waited. Turns out I found out the group some months later then the actual debut. Oneus debuted with Valkyrie. The way they changed the coreography every stage, the amazing fashion sense, song was good quality. They had vocal thecnique, they had dancing it caught my attention and Valkyrie was straight to my playlist. Then… it happened. The group’s first comeback. I don’t know how, when or even who am I but I found out about the comeback EXACTLY AT THE RIGHT TIME (Technically not because I was 16 hours late). I know you know we know, we are not going retro like 80’s or 90’s. We are not going retro like acient Corea like BTS Idol. We are going retro 1500/1700 not Japan, not China, not Corea, EUROPE. Welcome to the renaissance. The MV was shot in Italy, the amazing fashion sense strikes again (I swear to God stylist min is communicating with me), the song, the lyrics, the coreography, the cool colored camera filters, I need to mention the vocal technique again, the rest of the album being consistently good (BingBing), I dare say nothing is perfect… But man… This gets 99,99% of what I call perfection. It’s a shame they didn’t win any music show… Because they are a newer group and still don’t have a large fandom? WHO CARES. Let me tell you something BTS sucess should have been in 2017 Wings… The high point of their artistity…  Ateez was also a newer group AND THEY DID WIN. I give congratulations to them but Oneus needed to win and it had to be with Twilight nothing changes my mind. (Don’t come to me saying we can give them their win next comeback, it won’t do it) This type of thing only happens once in a lifetime, why? Repeat and it gets boring, they can do the same concept again but it won’t be the same, same for BTS wings. It’s not about quantity is quality. Veiws never mattered to me and now I can say with all my mighty that wins do not make art. (I was never a fan of streaming but you count my ass off this mess cause YES I did some small streaming of the MV, I did my homework) (Take in account they did this comeback with BLOOD IN THEIR EYES) (Please give Dreamcather and KARD their first win too. Did you know that with You and I Dreamcatcher also had comeback with blood in their eyes??). Let’s start with the song name… Twilight. Remember 2009 movie sensation Twilight? Yup that’s it… I know you know we know, we are going deep in the vampire/ werewolf style in here and why I said I know you know we know? Xion posted about it on Twitter…

Song, yes. Lyrics, yes, coreo yes, key point of coreo YES, Keonhee vocals YES (I trust this legend vocal thecnique more then I trust myself). Aesthetics? YES. Italy? Twilight is basically Seoho eating up all the line AND center distribution and detail... the only thing he does is SING THE CHORUS. Also thanks Keone Madrid for making this coreo for Oneus (he also did BTS Blood Sweat and Tears -  DO YOU SEE THE PATTERN). Also rumors that Oneus actually created about 40-50% of the coreo so also thank you Oneus hehe.

Bitch it's me we are taking about do you really think I would miss a possible plotline?? Xion is with a red diamond and later he breaks it into dust (I'm scared). Keonhee is with a ring. Ravn is looking at his own reflection in the water and Seoho is looking at his own reflection through a broken mirror. Woongie is with a necklace. I guess the high point in Leedo's individual shots is the wolf (question mark)... Woongie and Keonhee are the only members that change the eye color. Seoho and Woongie are the only members that simulate super powers (question mark). Summary they all lost someone.... Silence is also a way of communication... I'm not a huge fan of theories or the fanfics I know ya'll write later in wattpad but fell yourself served, you're welcome, no need to thank me.

Humanity mystery here. They recorded a version of the coreography when the sun was actually falling down in real life and we see those scenes in the MV. But if the whole staff was SHOCK about the key part of the coreography being extremely perfect and beautiful then why not use it on the MV? Sure the version they used outdoors was pretty too but this was ALSO awesome and I think I need as many version of the MV as I can.

Intro - What can I say... it fells so chill out, kinda minimalistic I just loved it. Twilight - Just amazing... I liked the dumbstep, the music is confusing witch I find extreamly cool. English Girl - Let em tell you not my type of song... but the lyrics are extreamly funny and relatable... so I forgive (I’m waiting crazy ho now Oneus, do not disappoint me) BingBing- YOU DON'T FREAKING START A SONG IN FRENCH IF NOT AIMING FOR TITTLE TRACK LEVEL. Ok and can we talk about the coreography???? BEAUTIFUL and I want to know the mastermind behind it. I just don't know why this was not above English Girl on the tracklist... White Night - Ok a more slow song but as always Oneus always delivers. (low key Red Thread sequel??) Now - This gives me Calvin Harris vibes. More dance eletronic standard pop but it's good...

So the first performance ever was… Guess what… Before the MV was released and where? JAPAN (My half japanese ass is shaking). So people there kinda received a spoiler (clothes too) and Mnet uploaded it in the same day of the MV release so other people that weren’t at the kcon wouldn’t receive a spoiler. I present you Michael Jackson Black or White 1.0 clothing set. Woongie earing? YES. The light was a bit tricky. Chorus was beautifully black and white. We also had blue/green. In the red one we had yellow lights but it didn’t bother me at all. Overall it’s approved to me.

New clothes yay. Keonhee hair and clothes were nice, I don’t know what to think about this set of clothes because I was never a fan of prints or this variations of cream and brown. The way the lights were positioned was tricky but the small amout of yellow lights didn’t bother me at all. No rings or earings today unfortunately.

The only things that killed it were the hand microphones and the yellow lights…

and when it’s performance time they step down the clothing? Well the clothes they were using ARE pretty but the ones they arrived? STUNNING ( aka ACDC Black in Black 2.0). Stylist min there are occasions you need to save the outfit to use… just arriving at the recording with those clothes is a waste of fashion. It could easily replace one of the times you repeated clothes. (I may say make up and contact lenses were on point too)

First of all I’m really mad because they cutted the song. Second I’m really mad because they didn’t upload on YouTube. It’s seems like this is was pre calculated beucase it was EXACTLY WHEN THEY CHANGED THE COREOGRAPHY. I don’t know if they changed because they knew the song would be cut or if it was really a coincidence… humanity mistery again. Lighting was so beautiful until they came with the yellow… Woongie hair was so fluffy and earings was a yes. Same old story. I’m mad they cutted the song, didn’t upload on youtube and exactly when they changed the coreography. On the other side we have new clothes yay. It’s not only black and gold powerful match. It’s black and gold with snake print cause I’m a bad bitch. It’s the only place where they NEEDED to use the yellow lights and I’m actually mad they used black and white. Someone save Seoho from his chocker. Color scheme was great but it’s not like the clothes desing are bad. I just feel it could have been better. Oneus first photobook in Milano was announced. I won’t go into detail cause this is not the goal here... but we get it... YOU WEREN’T JOKING AROUND IN ITALY. Usually it takes a lot of time for a group to come up with a photobook so I’m proud and that was pretty smartass way to finish promotions if I may say...

Now… you have seen me against the yellow light for the whole post and you must be asking yourself WHY? Well… when you have the work to color correct the entire MV to cool colors YOU MUST AS WELL DO IT ON THE PERFORMANCES… that’s it… it’s called color pallet and you should respect it. Or in other cases like when they used black and gold respect the color palette of the specific performance.

Now let’s go to 05/07/19 Oneus is a newer group so I wasn’t even dreaming about this cause again... It takes a while for this to happened. My spider senses told me something was off when they announced they would be attending breakout in Japan and SURPRISE. Twilight japanese version was announced. Versions A/B/C and CD+DVD. Some questions were raised. There will be another version of the MV and new clothes? If yes I WANT SOMETHING ON THE SAME LEVEL. Will there be a instrumental version? Will they put Valkyrie japanese version too? They would all be answered later... AND MORE. They had the audacity to show BingBing complete coreo for the first time. They must really love Japan. Legends also say that they already performed the japanese version in this festival.

I was getting uneasy with the release date coming closer and no photos of the covers of the CD’s... then 25/07 they released a schedule... I wasn’t really expecting a schedule but I was happy cause next day we would have a teaser of the MV and surprise, it was basiclly the same thing. Good because is quality stuff but bad cause I was waiting somehing new... 29/07/19 We got tracklist and GUESS WHO WAS THERE?? EXACTLY, VALKYRIE JAPANESE VERSION +++++ TWO new songs.... We are blessed.. until 30/07/19 where we got what actually was happening...

IS THIS WHAT YOU CALL LIMITED CD+DVD? It follows Raise US desing but I wanted something more... It fells like it’s missing something...

Version A (Clearly Valkyrie) IT’S INSTRUMENTAL YOU WANT? IT’S INTRUMENTAL YOU’LL GET. But I’m sad... where are the other two new songs you may ask?

Verson B OOONNEEEE of the new songs (ok we also have it’s instrumental too and cover is ok)

Version C THE OTHER SONG (we have it’s instrumental too and I didn’t know people had silver skin...)

Do you see the strategy? Each version has one of the songs so you have to buy all the versions... And I didn’t like this...

07/08 The MV was released. They don’t have official youtube chanel so they uploaded in the company that represents them in japan.

The major changes were the individual shots as they had to sing in japanese. Nothing to complain in here, their pronunciation was good but the lyrics timing didn’t seem to match the song. Valkyrie had a better japanese version then Twilight... I loved the two new songs we got too.

(Bless the person who putted Korean and Japenese side to side, I saved the video on that huge playlist)

Also, can we appreciate how well Oneus and Twilight was received in Japan? They went to national television, topped Oricon AND Billboard Japan. Tower Records was EMPTY on the first day and they promoted for almost a whole month with shows. Japan basically adoped Oneus.

But nothing is flowers. It’s was extreamly difficult to buy this single online outside japan.LET ME TELL YOU. CD japan? Nothing, Amazon japan? Nothing, Yahoo Japan? Nothing. Rakuten? Nothing, YesAsia? NOTHING. THE ONLY PLACE I COULD FIND TO BUY THIS ONLINE IS TOWER RECORDS OFFICIAL WEBSITE WITCH GUESS WHAT IT IS IN JAPANESE. AND TO BUY OUTSIDE JAPAN YOU DON’T BUY FROM THEIR WEBSITE. IT’S FROM ANOTHER WEBSITE WITCH TOWER RECORDS THEMSELFS PUTED THE LINK IN THOSE HUGE ASS BANNERS IN THEIR WEBSITE. Summary it was  literally giving birth to buy this online.

I tought I could rest BUT NOT. They would attend Soribada Music Awards... THEIR FIRST AWARD SHOW. Look I love Valkyrie... but I want Twilight to be performed and I WANT FASHION OK. I’m full of expetations, do not disappoint me Oneus. The day of the award show came and well... I was actually disappointed. Simple suits and the performance clothes? They repeated one of the worst weapons in their closets. C’mon... if you are going to repeat you have better choices IT’S NO EXCUSE... that’s the summary...

Well, from now I have covered everything... Don’t sleep in Keonhee vocals, Oneus has TWO MAIN VOCALS, appreciate Woongie vocals, that’s it.

You are our ‘W’ (a NU’EST Fanfic)

Hi hi, it has been a hot minute since I have written anything, whoops. Sorry about that. Anyway, this is still kindda late, but I got inspired by NU’EST rendition of Deja Vu at KCON LA (pledis stop being coward and officially release that shit). Feel free to reach out to give feedback to requests~

“I’m back, sorry for the delay rehearsals dragged on longer than we expected”, Minhyun trudges into the NU’EST practice room after a long day of musical rehearsals.

Being in a musical was a lifelong dream of his, but with the concerts and KCON and photoshoots and preparing new music the intense rehearsals and new genre was wearing him out. Yet the warm fox could only think I got to do better. Truth be told Minhyun was always very anxious. Behind his calm, cool, city-oppa face were worries and stresses he never dared reveal to anyone (even his brothers). Will the fans accept me again? Do we still look good as a group? Maybe the world wants NU’EST W and not NU’EST. Will those akgaes attack my babies again? Are we going to succeed as five? Was Produce and Wanna One even worth it? These thoughts weighed heavy on his mind ever since he returned to the familiar halls of Pledis to once again share the stage with his sworn brothers. These are things that plague his mind at night, robbing him of his sleep, even after the success of “Bet Bet”.

Success is fleeting, it could have been a mere fluke. Minhyun of all people understood that cruel reality of the entertainment world. That is why he is determined to work harder, not only for himself but for NU’EST. He couldn’t let them fail again. 

With that in mind he looks around an unusually quiet practice room. The only sound that could be heard was the whirring of the air conditioning blowing at max speed. And the only sight to be seen was Aron, JR, Ren and Baekho huddled together in the middle of the practice room.

“What are you guys doing?” Minhyun asks while setting down his things and changing into fresh practice clothes.

“Planning our set list for KCON LA,” Ren replies his eyes not tearing away from whatever the four were looking at.

“Oh right, we wanted to do a special stage right? Maybe we could perform our older songs like VVITH, or maybe remix of one of our newer songs? I heard Baekho and Bumzu-hyung working on some stuff the other day it sounds really good,” Minhyun suggests lazily while fixing his hair in the adjacent mirror.

“Yea we could, but we want something that would be shocking and unexpected,” Aron sneaks up behind the tall pale fox and locked his arms behind him as if to physically represent the “shocking and unexpected” performance they wanted.

“Oh my gosh, yaaaa, hyung what are you doing?”

“Surpriseeeeee,” Aron teases.

JR gets off the floor and approaches Minhyun with a sneaky smile.

Oh my gosh they are gonna tickle me, Minhyun thought. Ever since August began the boys have been relentless in teasing Minhyun at every given opportunity, regardless of whether it is celebrating his birthday early while they were in Jakarta, or just random tickles as “gifts of love”. Even when his birthday passed their childish antics didn’t stop, though Minhyun undeniably enjoyed the attention as well.

Minhyun squints his eyes in preparation for the attack but all he was met with was a slight prick to his forehead. Cautiously he opens his eyes to come face to face with a giggling Beakho, JR and Ren.

“I’m not gonna tickle you, this is serious. Pick one this is your last birthday present from us,” JR laughs while showing off three envelopes for Minhyun to pick.

“What are they?” Minhyun questions suspiciously.

“The final piece to our set list, c’mon just pick one, our proposal is due to the managers tomorow we gotta hurry!” Baekho rushed while holding in his laughter.

Hmpfh, whatever, how bad could it be?

After Aron releases him from his arrest, he casually picks off the right-most envelope from JR’s hand.

“Oooooooooo, so you have made your decision. Let’s see what it is,” Aron quips excitedly.

JR, Baekho and Ren are also holding in their smiles at this moment, in anticipation of Minhyun’s reaction to their little surprise.

What is wrong with them? With one smooth action Minhyun rips the envelop open and takes out a small piece of paper.

On the paper it simply wrote “Deja Vu”.

“Haha, Hwang Minhyun you have chosen Deja Vu by NU’EST to be performed at KCON LA 2019,” Ren announced while mimicking Lee Dongwook’s tone from Produce X 101.

Aron, JR and Baekho begin celebrating the event but they notice that Minhyun hadn’t moved an inch, staring at the paper, eyes swelling with tears, on the verge of crying.

“What do you mean. This is my present? How is this a present for me?!! How is performing without me a present FOR ME?!! I knew you guys like to tease me but this is too much,” Minhyun yells in frustration and rubs away the tears in his eyes. In a fit of fury he grabs his bags and heads towards the door of the practice room, he was in no mood to practise with these assholes tonight.

“Wait wait wait wait, hold up hold up, you’ve got this all wrong, we aren’t performing without you, we are all performing together,” Baekho lunges forward and hugs Minhyun from the back preventing him from leaving. Meanwhile, Aron, JR and Ren form a human barricade between upset fox and the exit.

“How are we going to perform this song together?! You wrote this for NU’EST W, there aren’t parts for me. Unless you want me to just be a back up dancer for you guys, which i refuse to do!”

“Oh my gosh, what is going on in your head, and here we thought you were gonna love this. Hold on, gimme a sec, hold on,” Baekho struggles to keep a hold on Minhyun in one arm while he struggled to pull out a pair of earphones connected to his iPhone.

In a rough motion Baekho plugs a earbud into Minhyun’s ear and turns the music on.

At first it sounded like the original version of Deja Vu. Light and mysterious, absolutely beautiful, but to Minhyun it felt like it was mocking him for his absence. Just when he had just about had enough and was ready to make a break for the door the music changed. 

The bridge, the bridge was different. A new tune, new lyrics and Bumzu-hyung’s voice?? What does this all mean?

The song comes to and end and Minhyun slumps in Baekho’s arms. “We made remixes of Where You At, Deja Vu and Help Me to fit you in. But they were all too good and we couldn’t decide which one to perform at KCON. We know that you love these songs and have always wanted to perform them but didn’t want to steal mine or Ren’s parts so this was our solution. It’s our last gift to you this year Minhyun-ah,” Aron comforts Minhyun with his calm tone as he gives him a warm hug.

“We didn’t think that it would cause this huge misunderstanding. We aren’t trying to exclude you, if anything we are going to include you in everything we do as a group,” Ren adds his arms into the hugging pile.

“NU’EST is 5, well 6 with we count our L.O.V.Es, but the point is, we can’t do this without you Minhyunnie. You are our ‘W’, so will you join us on this stage?” JR is the last to join in.

Minhyun chokes back the grateful tears that began rising to his tear ducts and says, “Of... Of course I will! I never want to leave you guys ever again!”

HAHAHHAAHHAHAH the boys start chuckling like a fatigued mess and they eventually end up tangled on the ground when they lose their balance. That night, and for the days to come, there was another responsibility added to Minhyun’s to-dos. Recording the new parts for Deja Vu, learning the old and new choreography for the smooth latin track, and rehearsing till the crack of dawn like he always does with his brothers.

It was exhausting, the stress tore away at every fiber of Minhyun’s body. But this was his utopia. He was their ‘W’ when the four boys were without him, but now NU’EST is whole again, and it always will be.

8. How did you get into kpop? So like I started listening to kpop from my mom actually... I think I was 7 or something (the year that the drama Boys Over Flowers came out) and she made me watch that drama with her. (So my first ever Korean crush was actually Kim Bum lol.. and shortly after Lee Minho- Whoops, liking Korean men since 2009 lmfao... but anyways) Then she showed me Big Bang.. My mom was a Taeyang lover but I fell in love with T.O.P. I then kinda stopped listening to kpop bcuz I was like 8 and really had no idea what the heck they were singing so my interest left UNTIL my best friend, @lai-gvanlin came into my life and then I started to fall back into the kpop life again. 12. What is your favorite music genre? I like a lot of different genres- like if I listen to a song and it got me feelin a type of way then I like it.. but I think I’m more of a hip-hop / pop kind of girl.. I like most of my songs upbeat, kinda like Monsta X songs ig

8. how did you get into kpop? in late 2012/ early 2013, this friend showed me SHINee hello baby, i fell in love with SHINee and their japanese music, and from there i started taking kpop recs and well here i am
